Day 1: Morning (Cycle 11)

Guidelines

Enemies swarmed the Scouts as they speedily backtracked through the multiple floors down to where they entered the palace from. Words couldn't even begin to describe the carnage that the group endured. The enemy did not hold back their firepower in the slightest, and neither did any of the scout members.

Yugam was nearly keeling over from protecting the members of the group who fought back against the machines. Magic was blasting, blood splattering, mechanical parts spilling on the floor, limbs flying, as the offensive members of the group tore through the enemy forces with a frightening fervor that would have sent a chill down any sane person's spine who might have been watching.

Fortune favored the bold and by extension, the scouts. Their efficiency was rewarded as they made it back to the room with the giant Regulator. Strangely enough, a spiritual energy flashed within its sphere for a second where the scouts saw what looked like a female Haito looking down at the boy hiding near the path down to "Tubby." The flash vanished as soon as it appeared, considering that none of the scouts was able to interact with it. Haito didn't notice the flash, however, he did notice the group jumping down onto the blood web and excitedly waved the group over.

Before the boy could say anything, however, a loud WOHNG could be heard as the massive Regulator began to boot up. Within seconds, it had already gotten up on its feet and scanned its surrounding for the group. The moment it locked onto the scouts, the machine began charging a ball of red energy in front of its face before it let a beam loose, melting parts of the ground where the group was standing.

Fortunately, the scouts were able to make it back down to the tunnel where Tubby was waiting. It immediately perked up when it saw its feeder (@Yugam) heading toward it.

"Aaa!" Haito screamed as he ran down the tunnel toward Tubby.

Before long, the Regulator broke through the floor and scanned its surrounding once more. Once its target was locked, it began charging a massive beam, much bigger this time. Despite its size, the armored titan was able to run through the tunnel in pursuit of you. As the ball of energy continued to charge, it would be a disaster should it somehow get a shot off. Meanwhile, Mizuki could hear the sound of the Titanium Drill-head. It seemed that it was coming back to take revenge...

Navigation (0/300)
Feed (0/300)
Threats (700/700)

Head back to Camp Hope. If you complete the Wurm Express mechanics here, you will reach Hope in Danger! in cycle 3, otherwise, you will arrive in cycle 4.
  • Navigation. Keep the wurm on the right path within the network of tunnels. It's a lot easier now that you have an idea of which direction to drive the wurm toward.
    • Make a Contribution Roll Any Mastery (normal), Awareness (advantage), or Hemomancy (double the result) to increase this track. (Count up.)
  • Feed. Feed the wurm to give it enough energy to run all the way back to camp.
  • Threats. The group has to deal with both the Titanium Drill-head and the Regulator-X.
    • Use any attack actions to decrease this track, count down.
    • Extension allows your character to concentrate on their attack since they can hit their mark(s) from further away. (Gain a +25 damage buff.)
    • Take 20 retal damage when you attack.
  • DM Bonus Actions. Each character may only use 1 DM bonus action per cycle. Make sure to record this action within the action BBcode.
    • Reckless Conducting. The first person to post is considered that cycle's Conductor and may issue 2 other targets to perform 2 actions instead of 1 this cycle.
    • Bloodbuff. If you have Hemomancy, you may make a check (DC 45) and give someone else or yourself a +50 to their attack rolls if you succeed. You can use this bonus action regardless of which of the goals you're pursuing above.
    • Needless Feed. You may also feed the wurm via Hemomancy, multiply the roll result by 2.
    • Reckless Defense. You may shield the group from danger by using yourself as a shield for both the wurm and the group. Allowing them to succeed easier. Reduce any track by 125 and take 40 damage from collateral damage.

It was definitely time to be leaving now! It seemed like they had made the decision to use the same giant wurm that they'd ridden in on to make their grand escape. Cleo figured that it was probably best to ignore that weird spirit energy flash that she'd seen, she had no clue what to make of it and frankly now wasn't the time to be pondering great mysteries. Especially not with giant energy orbs and beams and stuff like that.

Come on! Let's get going already!

She snarled, whipping a hand out as a hail of short, half-printed spears appeared around her and scattered, aiming to shred as much of anything that wasn't friendly as possible. Clambering up onto the giant wurm, her teeth grit, Cleo turned to the two blood users in the group, Yugam and Mizuki.

You two get this thing moving! On the double!

The fighting was nonstop and now even on the wurm that everyone was calling "Tubby", they had two mechs attacking simultaneously.

Her mana was low, being a full-time magic user in Terrasphere for this long made one pretty aware of their unseen properties even without a UI. Ever since what happened at the tower, Wendel felt both drained and empowered it was a very weird sensation. Then again, that was just another thing to stack on the pile of stuff going on.

Both Raina and herself had begun to change into something else, she remembered that during Norfovan, Zalra prism hunts that things were turned into different things there as well...

Why am I even thinking about this stuff?
I don't care what race you are, what you are made of...

The Dissonant Magi pulled her magic back into her hands. Her will combined with the chaotic atmosphere increasing her energy enough to fight on. Blasts of dark upon the Titwurm only for her to twist around and fire astral streams at the Regulator.

Watching the out-of-control machines still gave her turmoil even now. No matter how much grudge it shared its place with her desire to do something to help them.

The only answer in this world was death.

Location: Bloodwurm Tunnels

Healed, and very much rejuvenated thanks to Cleo's magic, Yugam would've fired a sarcastic retort towards Seigi if it weren't for the seemingly endless waves of enemies rushing towards them, stealing all of the Hunter's attention as he shot a revolver with one hand, and cut down any who tread too close with the sword in his other hand.

They'd leapt down from the second floor, landing on the web of blood that Yu had crafted earlier, just as the big bad Magia they'd been trying to avoid all this time finally awoke, the sounds of combat so loud that even the dead would be roused from their sleep.

"Tubby, you big, beautiful bastard!" Yu shouted as he saw that not only was the bloodwurm healed, but he'd remained exactly where they'd left him, like the loyal boy he was. The party were quick to board their escape wurm and take off down the tunnels the way they came, pursued not just by the Regulator by by the Drill-Head wurm as well.

"Oh, gimme a break..."

Spears flew around them, black laser beams of fucking death. The team weren't holding back as Yu conjured more orbs of blood, feeding and guiding Tubby back to camp, as fast as the giant wurm could go.

"BLOOD GUY!" Seigi's voice drew the hemomancer's attention. "I'm... urgh.. still plenty healthy! Heroically so!"

"..."

"WHAT THE FUCK DOES THAT EVEN MEAN!?"

As if in answer, the woman grabbed his hand, gaping wounds pressed to gaping wounds, his blood seeping into her veins.

"Have it your way..."

Blood began to flow freely for Seigi's body, joining Yu's own in a scarlet stream, feeding the ravenous wurm as it charged on.

"AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!" Everything was chaos! And while Seigi actually loved chaos she... well, yeah no. Their mission was a full success, and the escape was a success, too! That's exactly how a heist had to go! Sneak in, a single screw-up, and then guns blazing! So if their escape was now loud, who cared?

Well, the Regulator certainly did. And so did the Titanium Drill Machine. Both were quite annoying indeed! "Make sure to hold on tight, yes?" She gave Haito a head pat before turning to the wall beside them. If that thing dropped relatively dead behind them, it would also take charge of the regulator.

"JUST UNDO YOURSELF ALREADY!"
Seigi called out, jumping at the wall and holding onto the monstrosity as barely any stones were covering it. Ignoring whatever stone and other debris managed to cut on her.

Instead, she channeled all her energy into a single strike that, upon contact, resulted in an explosion that catapulted her back onto the worm. "Urgh..." That was... "USELESS!" At first anyway, frustrated, Seigi fell nearly over before stumbling towards Yugam. "Gosh, we really need a drink right about now"

"BLOOD GUY!"
She called out. "I'm... urgh.. still plenty healthy! Heroically so!" She grabbed his wounded, bloodied hand, into her own. Wound upon wound. Blood on blood. "So take my all and FEED TUBBY MORE!"

Snarling and growling, Mizuki would continue to rip and tear any machines that got in the way of the squad's retreat, ignoring Seigi's advice for her to calm down. Now that she'd been told to go all out she was going to keep indulging herself until they either ran out of things to fight or made their escape. She was fine with either option, although the rational part of her was still aware that they wouldn't survive if the entire city converged on them.

Once they reached the large room from which they'd emerged into the palace Mizuki jumped down after the others, bouncing from the blood net onto the ground where she rolled to break the fall before continuing her run with barely a pause. Her two wolves had remained here with Haito, but Mizuki sent them a command through her Primal Aura that danger was approaching and they needed to leave. The flash of a ghostly figure had her curious, but they didn't have time to investigate.

Dashing past Haito Mizuki would grab the boy as she jumped onto the worm, her packmates following close behind. With everyone on board of... "Tubby"... the squad rapidly retreated, with Mizuki making her way to the front of their organic vehicle as she heard the sound of metal upon dirt and stone. It looked like the titanium beast hadn't had enough.

However, that was the concern of her companions. She quickly nodded as Cleo told her to get to work directing the wurm. Crouching near Tubby's head Mizuki raised her hands and focused on the bloodroots she'd spawned before to help clear the path.

Follow the roots!

As she spoke she used her magic to reconfigure the roots, causing them to faintly glow to make it easier to see the path back home. Seeing that Yugam and Seigi were feeding their mount with yet more blood, Mizuki would detach some of the sanguine bark that had covered her wounds and send it into Tubby's maw.

Day 1: Morning (Cycle 11.5)

With the amount of feeding it was receiving from the nearly-sapped Yugam, the Bloodwurm that the Scouts fondly referred to as "Tubby" screeched at full volume as it slid along the rocky tunnel at the fastest speed it can muster as the massive charged shot from the giant Regulator was shot, blasting through the tight tunnel and evaporating anything that stood in the beam's path.

Fortunately, Magi was able to disperse its concentrated force with her own beam, breaking the Regulator's singular beam into multiple smaller attacks that Seigi was able to keep off of Tubby with her martial arts and reckless defense while Haito intercepted a single blast with his slingshot, buying the rest of the team and especially Mizuki the time to get them out of the danger zone. Gods know how much blood she had donated to the thirsty creature, but it would have been enough to solidify as much affection and loyalty as a simply-minded worm could afford (this goes for Yugam as well).

After the group managed to lose sight of the significantly slower Regulator, whose shape doesn't even allow it to pursue them beyond the first stretch, their old enemy, the Titanium Drill-head came back for a second round. However, given its inability to surprise the group a second time, Cleo who was always on the lookout was ready to intercept the metallic wurm the moment it breached the tunnel and attempted the exact strategy from earlier. With her spears, she managed to deflect the enemy wurm's charge, making it tumble violently on the ground as Tubby sped away, getting the group to safety.

With the amount of high-octane double time the Scouts had to put into the last stretch of their mission, nearly everyone would have been knocked out when exhaustion caught up with them. There was nothing left in the tank and they were at the mercy of Tubby using its intuition and strange metaphysical like-mindedness to get them to where they need to be: Camp Hope.
