While @Magi Heart was still resting and recovering, Seigi eventually managed to round the rest of her team together for a quick briefing.

"Things have changed, and I've come up with a new plan. A better plan."
Something about Seigi seemed to have changed, as she spoke with a certain finality in her voice. "Did you know there is an extensive tunnel network below the capital for us to use? Yes? No? Either way, our abilities are powerful enough to also dig our own shortcuts if needed." She changed her voice to a tad whinier. "But Seigi, we're going in there completely blind!" Before waving a stack of maps around in her hand. "No we're not, here are some maps. Together with Mizuki's, we should be able to cross-reference potential exits and plan a route. Any questions?"

Yu had received a message to meet up with the rest of the scouts after he'd spoken @Luthien , something about important information that needed to be shared.

When he'd arrived, Seigi began to layout the framework of a plan for them all.

Yeah, I got a couple. First of all. How's Magi doin', and are we going with or without her? Secondly, I spoke with one of the extraction party's members. I heard some...disturbing things about what happened. We may be stepping into a bigger pile of shit here than we originally expected.

"Magi's fine." Relatively speaking, anyway. Though there was no way Seigi would leave Magi at camp. "Not bad enough to skip this one out. Besides, we'll need her. Simple as that. As for your concerns about safety, isn't that why it's all that more important to go, now? Or would you rather endanger the entirety of future operations? The tunnels offer more safety, and clearer direction, than an open field or forest. Not to mention the element of surprise."

Tiresome.

There it was again, the little something that gave Seigi a hunch of annoyance. Though she swallowed it and instead added. "I am not asking you to be suicidal. But, you have to be aware that you won't get anywhere if you aren't willing to take some level of risk. These tunnels, in my humble opinion, maximize the success of reaching our points of interest while minimizing the risk. If there's anyone risking something here it is ME and MAGI. We're both past redemption, you see." She chuckled every so slightly.

The man's eyes narrowed at the woman as a small frown settled on his face, discontent with the insinuation that his question had come from a place of cowardice.

On the contrary. Leaving immediately might jeopardize our entire mission. New information is available. I am suggesting that it is better to spend ten minutes formulating a plan and contingencies based on this new information, rather than running off halfcocked, and all of us winding up dead.

That being said, the tunnels sound like a good infil-exfil route. Assuming that they haven't been discovered and aren't crawling with magia already, we'll be able to enter the capital unseen. With any luck, we'll be able to reach an access point near one or both of our vantage points. Get there, get the info we need, and leave the way we came.

Mizuki didn't know why Seigi was suddenly so adamant on calling them all together, although she got an inkling of an idea once she had been informed about what had occurred in the camp. If Magi had been injured it wasn't surprising that Seigi would be on edge, given how close she was to the pink-haired spellcaster.

That said, she still found Seigi's behaviour... odd.

Where'd you get your hands on a map for the tunnels? (She opened her atlas and flipped through it.) These maps only cover the surface.

Still, if they did have a map of the underground it at least made the tunnels viable, even if Mizuki still had her objections. Unfortunately, whatever it was that had happened made Seigi unlikely to listen, given how she pre-emptively dismissed any concerns the rest of them might have regarding the tunnels.

I agree with Yugam. New intel means we need to reconsider our options, not rush in carelessly. On top of that... are you feeling all right Seigi?

Magi was one thing, having gotten hurt in the incident, but the heroine's attitude was definitely different from usual. Especially the part about being "past redemption"...

Wendel awakes to the absolute ear-piercing shrieking in the tunnel.

"Eyaah, what the hell is that? I thought we were supposed to be being quiet and stuff not being chased by screaming worms! Urgh... noise when searching, noise while I sleep, noise while I wake! Gee whiz, just ṣ̷̏h̴̢͆u̵͔̚ẗ̵̜́ ̵̩̇ú̵̲p̴̻̔!̴͚̈́"

Wendel prepares to make it shut up.

<<She will just start attacking it if no one offers a better solution>>

Addressing @Ueno Mizuki way earlier (maybe)
"I borrowed the map, and I haven't felt as free as right now in a very long time! Thank you very much for your concern, little wolf."

And present time:
"The very fact this machine hasn't ratted us out already might hint at it not being an enemy. If anything, it might be more of symbiosis, and it's simply starving. Though I also don't mind if you all want to get rid of it..."
