Erick gains saving throw advantage from Protect Aura
He rejected it the moment he felt the throbbing in his head, the dull, slowly growing ache that countermanded his perception of reality. In truth, Erick had spent his time toiling in Chronomancy daring to tempt the timelines, seeking knowledge of how to manipulate outcomes and determine courses of action. The young man had come closer to playing god with the power than he ever could have imagined outside of Terrasphere. It was that unhealthy obsession with the past and the future that led him to a unique, morose understanding of what was happening in his psyche.
That same, immense, grotesque pain was what he felt every time those timelines began to blur. When he attempted to take command of Destiny, and the universe rejected even his best attempts. These things were inhuman, bound by different rules- could it be that they had a greater understanding, a more unique command of the strange and unnatural power than he did?
No- they were all here in this world, bound by the same rules.
And if they were going to start breaking those rules, so was Erick.
He continued to flicker in and out, but the timeline changed derisively. He was in one place one moment, and another the next. He blinked out of existence and reappeared next to the strange creature that seemed to be working to coordinate between the strange group of Magia. Its energies were surging, undulating, rippling around the battlefield- and when he concentrated for even a moment, in its unheard and incomprehensible language, Erick could feel it willing the other entities forward.
Space and Time were relative. He could sense the rapid shifting between realities, the strange contemplation, the constant checking and arduous confirmations that felt like computing done on a cosmic scale. It was a chink in their armor.
The enemy did not factor error for a Mage who could manipulate space and time.
He stretched out his hands toward the Overseer, which looked on implacably toward its final destination. It seemed disinterested in Erick altogether, like he was little more than a speck on the battlefield- perhaps to this strange creature, he was.
Until...
Time Crash.
The zone around Erick rippled and shifted, twisted. He brought together an amalgamation of realities, of that same moment in a thousand thousand worlds. He forced them to converge, and in so doing, dilated the timeline, and then contracted it. Causality shifted as Erick attempted to sever the logic cycle between the Overseer and its Drones by suspending it from one reality into the next.
But for how long?
