"Aloe aloe aloe song~
The beautiful aloe who can do no wrong~
The super pretty aloe song~
Aloe always wins the day~~~"

Meet: Aloe. An angelish-looking Magia with big dreams of being a goddess and living the cushy life here in the paradise known as Terrasphere---- forever. Aloe was currently on a light skip through Camp Hope on her way to the big show, singing as she went. Her mood could not have been better. Why?

"Because, after all, it's my big debut! Worry not Terrazens, your goddess of victory is here!"

As she pranced toward the wall, she continued to sing as a great big flash and boom whitened and threatened to erase all of existence.

"Wat."

When her vision cleared, through the groping and the dust and probably a little luck besides, Aloe found herself atop the wall to the welcoming chorus of screams. Out on the horizon she could see it. A metal monstrosity pouring bullets like a bucket at a charity event... of death. It was as though the defenders had won The Superbowl of War as the bullets poured down by the stormload in a celebration of memento mori. So many bullets. So many Doom Guy would have been able to stand still and just unload through hell. So many Duke Nukem wouldve his pants. It was like the last Fourth of July in The United States, and everyone knew it, and fireworks were free, and Michael Bay were God.

Aloe looked to her left and her right.

"H---Help... I-I-I-I H-Have to H-Help... I-I'm T-The G-G-G-oddess of V-Victory..."

Aloe the angel strolled through a hell of human creation with her golden staff clutched tight in a white-knuckle grip, as though it was a cliff that she was clinging to over an endless ravine. She was just one face in a crowd of chaos sauntering by on shaky legs. None knew her, none had the time to know her, she would never be remembered this way. And yet, there she saw someone in deep contemplation and shakily raised her golden rod, atop it was a rainbow die that began to spin where it hovered and began to glitter brighter.

"L-Lu-Lu-Lucky Bl-Bl-Bl-Bl-Blessing~"

The girl sported jet-black hair and a stern expression that said she ate raid bosses for breakfast. Aloe, shell shocked, and with wits out to lunch, offered her blessing----or perhaps----a fervent prayer that the girl's power and the dice of destiny would get her out of this mess. Some dice poofed, but Aloe was in no state to see their roll.

He yawned.

Sure, his ears still rang from the cannon fire exploding all around him at the colossal enemy treading closer and closer to the walls that kept Camp Hope safe, but Frey still yawned. Already had his work schedule kept him from being able to participate in the famed adventure to bring back the rumored King of Players, but to miss the explosion of a prison, the beginning of the Dragonship's assault on camp, and everything else?

Well, he wasn't happy about any of those things, yet as he crossed his arms over his chest and looked down at everyone having the time of their lives, he couldn't complain that he had been relegated to grunt work. Especially when he didn't look the part of a combatant himself.

He stood on the edge of the wall and saluted those still at the walls before he jumped off to the fields below, keeping himself from harm by summoning a tower shield at his feet that would act as a board to slide upon. What better way to travel faster?

He slid all the way down until the Faerin came to stand behind the pair of @Kamala Graham and @Chrys, tinkering away at a trap for their enemy. "Yooo, what are the two of you doing?" He kneeled beside the pair, intent on helping finish the work they had started... Only to find that his eagerness made him clumsy when it came to the more careful tasks.

Not like he would've found out in the solid two minutes that he tried to make himself useful.

"Yeah... I'm not cut for manual labor."

The smaller visage of the summoner smiled and nodded as she was quickly welcomed into her role as @Ludmilla Orphys' assistant, her mouth drawing into a little 'o' shape as the mage drew her arcane symbols, and only perking up when spoken to.

Here, miss? Okay! Awaiting further instructions.

The summon reached out its smaller hand towards the blonde faerin's, unaware of the true purpose behind such contact. To a being made of magic, the sensation was rather ticklish, and so she giggled. To Rael, vaguely aware of things witnessed and felt through the bond between master and created magical being, it was anything but. Already the brief contact with Ludmilla's magic was causing her to gulp.

Eh?

The summoned image froze on the spot, blinking a few times in rapid succession as the mage before her jumped up and down in a fit of excitement that it couldn't understand the source of. Only when the blonde's features had shifted away from their previous unassuming smile, into an expression that shook the short-lived familiar to its very core, did it finally realize what was going to happen. And how it couldn't turn away from its fate.

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK-

...

A blonde individual, though not one as scary as Ludmilla had proven herself to be, stood by himself on a corner of the battlefield, his eyes set upon the ground and his work that was not dissimilar to those of others that had reached the battlefield before him.

With a sigh, Rael tore more pages of her grimoire so they could turn into smaller assistants, rushing up to the man creating the traps with an offer to help him. She, meanwhile, walked closer this time and held out a note for him to read:

"[ Please do not blow them up. They are here to help. ]"

The DEAD.naught scuttled towards them, and Ash looked up at it with dawning horror. This wouldn't be some robotic horde of weaklings crashing against the town's defenses. This was a walking battleship cloaked in flame and trailing flame in its wake.

The pain limiter meant that the barrage of bullets was more a sting than the burning fire it should have been, but it was a struggle to get his body moving in the aftermath. He hesitated, pulled between the impulse to fight or flee.

This time, fight won out. Ash charged forward, followed by Vina's humming magic. His own energy was still flagging, but the harmonic magic was enough to draw the sleeping spirits from his runestone, even if it meant draining his EN to do it.

"Spirits, heed my call! Be the aegis for those that court death!"

A shroud of whispering cold surrounded Tenshi, Aroda, and Hyakin, sharp enough to cut even the heat of the flames creeping their way...

And as the breath left his lungs, his commands resounding clearly through the battlefields, the Starcalled responded in kind, a storm of steel and sorcery to match the ferocity of the DEAD.naught! From the forefront, @Hanno Futaba rose, the Faerin possessed with an outsized courage. His ghastly shield erupted into a mass of tendrils, rupturing ground that stalled the treads of their titanic foe, whilst creating plenty of cover for others to approach with. And in the chaos of dissonant tendrils and ceaseless gunfire, @Hyakin Heliodoros's shield flew true through the earthen debris, the silver-lit armament unwavering in its aim as it sliced through all in its way to slam with an echoing gong against a leg joint of the tank. Before the young man himself could fall back, Levi pressed his hand against Hyakin's back, righting him once more.

A mighty blow.

The red-headed devil grinned.

But the catgirl looks to have gotten the best of it this time.

And indeed, @Nyancy's evocation of heavenly wrath roared with a brightness that rivaled the DEAD.naught's own Sky-Lance! Lightning, materialized from the heavens and drawn to the silver-lit shield, struck the towering Camp Crusher's side with craterous force, causing even such a gargantuan collective of machinery to quiver, ever so slightly, creating a gap, a pause.

One that @Fina Drago did not let slip past.

Scampering doggedly past the ruinous terrain, hair singed and face dried by the sheer heat that emanated from the engines of the DEAD.naught, the arcane weaponmaster evaded blasts of anti-infantry cannon fire until she finally skidded beneath the belly of the iron beast, evoking the spell she had prepared beforehand. Translucent chains snapped outwards from the aether, snagging onto all six limbs, stalling them just in time for @Toko, ever an artiste with geomantic spellcraft, to switch from random pits to intentional pits.

The DEAD.naught sank. It would not be able to leverage the full might of its speed this time, and with a wrathful burst of radio static, the iron beast leveled one of its siege cannons upon the prone Beastfolk that snared it.

It would wipe Fina off the face of the planet. Not even ashes would rem-

From the distance, Levi lunged forth, propelled by his God-blessed Blades. Bullets fragmented out of existence as they struck his form, @Erick Styker's temporal protection displacing the histories of gunfire just enough that the Commander of the Lion's Pride could advance undeterred. Even the flames sprouting from the disjointed plates of the Camp Crusher only brushed against him as if a soothing spring rain; the divine energies of @Glamdark's blessings had converted into a cowl that disintegrated in place of Levi's flesh.

Light gathered within the cannon's barrel, but at this distance, his sword would undoubtedly be faster!

EMBER EDICT!

Eight blades collided in sequence against the length of the DEAD.naught's barrel, exploding with arcane force to send the cannon pointing skywards instead. Destructive light pierced the weighty clouds, causing a spot of skylight to grace his presence as Levi landed on his feet, the Fated Hero's Sword unmarred by its encounter with Dragonship-steel. He interposed himself between the magitech monstrosity and the fearless, though perhaps reckless, Fina, more arcane swords manifesting in her defense.

Up, Fina. For our next collaboration, we'll slice off one of its legs entirely.

The Swordmaster's steely gaze remained dauntless, even as the Titan rotated its own barrel back into place, prepared to exact its own vengeance.

Meriam flailed frantically when she was picked up by the unique-looking Magia. When her feet touched the ground again, she waved to @MAI, shouting after the girl who was heading away despite not knowing whether or not the Magia could even hear her over the sounds of battle.

When the faerin turned her head toward the horizon, she saw Levi leading the charge on the hulking armor, @Ash Vargold protecting the vanguard with his spirits, @Rael sending her minion to assist the trappers, and @Kyra Vashtana tuning her ballista to the sound of carnage, everyone was fighting to protect the camp. Despite having ran ragged from forgoing sleep and being involved in a slew of trouble during her time with the aforementioned friends, the faerin caught her second wind and sprung into action.

Running down the wall, Meriam twirled her lantern staff and summoned her magical beasties companions to help repair the wall.

Vy, put out that magical fire! Gero, use your tongue and catch that fallen piece of plating! Raskan, blast the plating Gero catches with fire so it fuses with the rest of the wall again!

Although the little faerin started out strong, she gradually slowed down and eventually came to a stop, barely holding herself up with her staff.

Ah-haah… Guh… I feel so sick, I'm going to hurl… c-crap, wasn't that one of the symptoms of mind-down?

"OUCH! SHIT!" Quinn shouted as he sprinted across the battlefield, getting hit by bullets left and right. The Quinn of today was not the same as the speedy devil he was once known as.

Despite the armored titan slowing down from the amount of crowd control being slapped on it, it didn't seem as though they were doing much damage to the tank.

Right. Damage. That's what we need. A shit ton of damage. Quinn thought to himself as he headed toward Levi, whom everyone was gathering around.

On the way, he passed by someone with a very distinctive scent, which can only be one person (@Moonsong). Quinn shook it off, however, it couldn't be. After all, there's no way in hell a game can recreate such a powerful trigger for his artificial senses.

Quinn ran and ran, looking like this to just about anyone who looked in his direction.

When he arrived at the area right behind the main group, he began to look for the biggest set of guns he could find among the crowd.

"Found you, protein-girl, it's about time for you to go to the gun show," Quinn grinned as he clasped the Djinni's hand and spun around multiple times before he flung half of it at Toko.

Those with high awareness (over 50) at the most north-western end of the battlefield may have noticed the distant group of unique magia soldiers gathered around a 9-foot pillar of white metal. The curious object sat on a large portable-looking platform with crab-like legs and had two long light bands running up and down the sides much like the Travelers gaming computers might.

Oh, how simple it would be just to play something else stored on one of those little computers now wouldn't it? The Starcalled are a special bunch considering they are still here.

The rogue squadron of face-obscured humanoid magia did not take any hostile actions and remained to themselves. Surrounding the platform in a tight ring formation. It was then that the pillar trembled and bolts of white lightning ran over it in a rather dangerous display. The pillar shook and smoke rose as several bolts coursed over and around it farther and farther outwards. Many bolts of energy crashed into several of the magia guards, causing them to light in flame and fall apart in the wake of the mysterious "storm".

The rest did not move from their post or even seem to react at all to the fall of their companions.
The magitech pillar's lights went out...

Click

The object swung open.

The Sound of Shattering Hope

A slender, feminine-looking magia of silver-colored metallic lay within, arms flat to her sides. The figure's face much like the magia guarding her was covered. A set of crimson rays of light came from the mask sweeping over the area like a sniper rifle seeking its victim. The rays passed the soldiers of steel that remained around the platform. Running from bottom to top before moving to the next. They would each crumple into a heap of metal. Sparks of the same electricity that covered the pillar earlier now streamed from the resting silvite to each of them and then back into her. As if collecting something from each or simply deactivating what was now no longer necessary?

The contained was unchained. A hand of steel rising into the world from its resting place.

A sudden clasp of that sleek silver hand upon the side pulled the rest of her body out of the steel coffin of sorts. An uncanny step of the pointed metal appendage that was her foot upon the platform that awaited her. Long white locks blew out behind her made of fibers that no living creature in Arcia would possess. The flowing white garment that covered her torso billowed as she fully exited onto the platform

Legs clasped tightly together.

Her arms spread outwards, beckoning.

A field of energy enveloped her body as she levitated.

A rock nearby shattered to pieces.

Several birds fell out of the sky, dead.

Insects beneath the platform and all around the area scattered, borrowing as deep into the earth as they could to escape or helplessly trying to flee whatever was causing them to burst, creating a crackle and pop throughout the area.

Yet she remained motionless, simply hovering with her head tilted upwards and arms outstretched to the battlefield. The sound that shall not be heard by the limited, primitive creatures of flesh and blood.

The stage was set.
A song for God alone.
A song that would blanket hope.

Those with Harmonics of B or above would barely hear something first, perhaps a voice on the wind reciting inaudible lyrics of an unknown tongue. Then those who could hear magic would begin to hear the voice, one of serenity only to build into one of ill omen.

All others with enhanced hearing would still hear nothing. They could not hear the soundwave that came from the silver magia. A hymn of the unhearable pitch, existing almost in a plane of its own and manifested itself as destruction, like everything else that came from these murderous machines.

Then came your piercing headache. Blood trickled down your ears, your machines began to jam up and if you were a magia yourself... your very body began to ignore your movements. You, who chose a body that should not exist in this simple fantasy world. Your limbs became sluggish as your vision was filled with incoherent text.

The ballistae trembled, and the gates rattled from an unseen force.

The DEAD.naught reacted to this silent terror with its reply. What lay within the DEAD.naught activated and emerged from various ports on the sides of the massive siege weapon. Like a swarm of steel, they surged out. Summoned by the hymn to destroy, to assimilate, to reign.

Sentries flew forward and sought the primitive human traps.
Regulators marched to eliminate the walls of soft flesh between them and the gate.
The Overseer emerged last. It hovered close to its allies and looked to be communicating with them.

Starcalled, your death by your new superior machine overlords is nigh.
Threat targeted, bullets rained, and the Sky Lance struck true.
The hymn for the end of (camp) hope has begun.

Battle Objectives

(Hymn) Hope's Requiem [ 0 / 300 ]

(Important) A Harmonic Hymn performed by XS-EVE. The full extent of its power over space-time and magia is unknown. The effects cannot be blocked by simply not hearing it, and it is too difficult to send a squad to stop her in the heat of battle. Combine your Harmonics to counter the effects before they get worse!
  • Make a Contribution Roll (Harmonics) from anywhere on the map to counter the hymn.
  • Every player takes 10 damage during the next damage phase. If negated, take 5 damage instead (vulnerability and protected do not affect this damage).
  • All sound is being drowned by the unbearable "silent" hymn and players cannot communicate at all outside of the tile they're on until the hymn is countered.
  • All rolls made by players with Magitech in their build must roll at a disadvantage unless the hymn is countered.
  • All Magia players are being hacked by the power of the hymn.
    • Movement cost is doubled unless the hymn is countered

Traps

The purpose of the battle is to kill the DEAD.naught before it reaches the wall and finishes its invasion. It's a no-brainer that Levi and Norn would call for traps to be set up on the battlefield to slow the enemy down.

(DM Action) Prepare Trap.
  • This is a small group check to set up traps on any gray space on the map.
  • When the DEAD.naught enters a trapped area, it will immediately lose 650 SP.
  • Make a Mastery Check (Any - DC 50) OR Expertise Check (Any - DC 70) to help your group prepare a trap. You must be on a space to prepare the trap for it.
  • [ 3 ] Successes are needed to trap a specific gray space.

Quinn ran, jumped, rolled, breakdanced his way to safety when the DEAD.naught opened fired on him and everyone around him. There was no way he was going to live if he continued being in the frontline and Zahaad's arm even gave him a nice facial clap to put some sense into him.

He needed to get to an advantageous spot and send the arm out to heal whoever is going to be countering the awful dubstep. That person just so happens to be the pink-haired @Rael, whom he spotted on the move.

"Zahaad, we're getting into some nasty shit! I need you, buddy. Forget your Djoom meeting, get the hell out here!" Quinn grabbed the blue arm and began shaking and yelling at the magical appendage.

The Djinni's arm can't talk, obviously and communicated in gestures, indicating that Zahaad's monthly performance review is happening right then, so there was no way he could leave.

With fewer options on the table, Quinn decided to go with his plan and split the arm into two baby arms, sending one to heal Rael and the other to finish arming a trap.

When the arm that was sent to do the trap came back, it saluted Quinn, who salute it back.

Through the storm of blood and flame, through the searing light of the Sky Lance and the echoing retaliation of the Starcalled, Cain saw her. That Magia, clad in an Edenic garment, gesturing as if she were an opera singer. And he felt it too, the breadth of her vocal range, washing over the battlefield in tides too high-pitched for any mortal ear.

There was an image that flashed in his mind. Of a gentleman on television, who brought a crystal glass up to his face and sang a note to shatter it.

A hymn of destruction. A hymn to deafen. And a hymn, it appeared, to stain the minds of those who grew too close the machine.

"Laughable."

What was the value in a song that no one could hear? What was the value in a song that only brought pain? What was the value in a song so goddamn awful that even hearing a whisper of it caused people to bleed from their fucking ears?

He clenched his teeth, setting alight the virtual veins dwelling within the vessel he inhabited. All this time, he had done nothing but help, using natural talents, natural aptitudes to assist in the reconstruction and defense of the camp, but now? Cain Darlite, Flagbearer of Miracles, had been challenged by a third-rate music box with no sense of style. Like hell he was going to let this bitch drone on!

Raising the Battle-Banner of Embers Usurped to the gray skies, Cain poured forth the entirety of his repressed might. Starfire reignited, flaring bright as the astral banner grew and grew. It expanded over the ruinous battlefield, casting an aurora at once majestic and comforting. And though all remained deafened by Hope's Requiem, music was never about what one heard.

It was about what one felt.

And when mastery of emotion eclipsed common understandings of it, then even thoughts can be materialized. Thoughts that relayed Cain's voice as the midnight-haired muse sang a song that could not be heard, but could be sensed.

Deep in the bone.

Deep in the soul.

It began with claps, with an energized beat. Setting the rhythm of the heart, setting the stage for a counterattack renewed.

Move ahead
Don't look back
Even if you might lose your way
Even if you go astray.

Because...

Time and time again,
We'll rise up stronger than before
Remember every ending is a beginning
It's up to you to find the door!

Life is so unfair
but you gotta work through your despair
Don't waste your time with asking why
To all your fears, just say goodbye
When you've been knocked down,
don't ever forget

You can rise again!

Tenshi had to be one of the most ill-fortuned Terrasphere players of the week. If not for the drama that tagged her in times of recent, if not for the newfound addition of having to shed her metamorphic claws in her monthly schedule, then for the fact that rather than be razed by the Sky Lance that really seemed to show her some powerful bias for whatever reason, the cold-blooded tigress was assaulted almost in equal portions by the veritable armor of cold around her now. Not to mention that sudden headache. "F-F-F-..." She shivered too much to actually get the word out as she recouped, then forced herself to start jogging towards the tank again to help her warm up and distract herself from the cold blood running down from her ringing ears.

It was an interesting raid, really. She wished she could have played a DPS role for it with all the non-tank mechanics that seemed to be present, but hopefully everybody could forgive her for being a little lost on what to actually do once all the ADDS showed up. Her kit wasn't actually that varied either. She really just wanted to focus on protecting people so she could make friends easier, at least in her mind.

By the time she outran the cold she was almost certainly just as thankful for as she was cursing the irony of, she arrived at the base of the tank itself and the others it was trying to run over, at which point she leapt around in all-fours mode until she was up on the tank itself, bashing against its weaponry as best she could. It wasn't really going as planned. None of it was coming off, none of it was really taking any damage, but a little bit of it was starting to track to her, so hopefully it would save someone a bit of HP.

"That the best ya got? Trust me, I've got more than enough going on right now without your stupid lasers!" She XBox-talked it while doing her best to soak bullets. This game didn't have a rage meter, but she knew herself well enough by now to know that she did, and it was filling very very rapidly today.

Her trade with the DEAD.naught had been comparable to two chess players opening a game by moving a pawn a single space forward each. Unremarkable, as her own hit surely didn't even scratch the symbol of despair marching its massive treads towards the camp, and the bullets she weathered in return impacted her chair a lot harder than they did her pain receptors, especially those parts of her protected by her magical armor.

And then, the all too quiet battlefield became... musical. Ill omen or not, it made the blind girl stand from her chair to lay eyes on its source. Something she could hear, echoing across the battlefield as it was. For some reason, it gave her chills.

Her eyes flitted about to take in whatever she could, and as she watched the DEAD.naught unfold and awaken even more power--at least from what she could gather from her magical sight--she thought for a few moments. No doubt everyone else had started mobilizing by now. What was she to do about such a terrifying song of magic? Could anybody else hear it, now that she thought about it?

That was hardly a concern. As she pulled to her some of the magic suddenly fluctuating through the area from all the chaos of battle, she felt a similar sense of... something. What was it? When did she feel it last?

As she eyed the lines and waves of magic overlapping, she pulled her yukata such to removed her right arm from the sleeve and instead affix it over her shoulder. Now onlookers however few or many there were could see a mess of simplistic scribbles characters of an unknown language all down her arm, and as she finally pointed it at the point towards the DEAD.naught with the most magic between her and it, she paused for just a moment. A wry smile played at the girl's lips.

'Ah, right. I remember this now... Don't worry. This time, there won't be any sacrifices.' She thought as she aimed calmly with that terrible song almost heralding her own ill omen as well.

Not nearly as flashy as some other players' attacks, the blast Azzy pierced the tank with was comparable to a railgun, thin lines twisting through the air in spirals dancing in a trinity until the moment of impact with the magic both around and within the tank.

Although did squint at the appearance of new enemies, she didn't have much time to linger on their approach. The behemoth of a machine that had first invaded their sight soon descended upon them, unleashing a barrage that Ayna managed to dodge every bit of, flipping herself in the air and doing a makeshift pirouette with more rotations than she could care to count. She might not be an actual ballerina where she came from, but in this world, in this game, she might even be better than one. Ohoho! I love the smell of fresh chaos!

"That all ya got, ya bloated tin can?! 'Cause I got more in the tank, too!"

Ha! Get it? More in the tank? To a tank? Like before, Ayna allowed the lightning coursing through her veins to surge outward and around her, becoming one with the element itself. Unlike before, this time, she was close enough to her target that she was able to unleash a destructive combo chain at her own expense, piercing and shocking all that she could of the machine that opposed her.

❰ True Teachings of Enlightningment: Sky Wandering ❱

Ayna had no delusions that she could take on the damned thing on her own, with just her second attack, as strong as it seemed to be. She turned to where her friends were, stealing a glimpse of them, before deciding right then and there to reconnect with them in the middle of the battle. As she screamed the word parkour over and over again in her head as she rushed in her friends' direction while avoiding as many others as she could, including projectiles from both sides, a maniacal smile on her face exposed how much she was enjoying the entire thing.

"You guys all right? Did you see me dodge all the things?"

Of course, they didn't. They were in the thick of battle and were most likely busy doing their own thing. Whatever that was.

Explorers' League - Red Whistle
-10 HP from Hope's Requiem

I hear a sound.

Words that were not words. Music that was not music. Bluebird's forward march stopped as the atmosphere twisted. It was melody in name only, harmonics twisted and turned sour. She found herself getting lost in its labyrinth, a place without emotion or hope...

Somewhere ahead, a starry banner unfurled, impossible to miss above the war-scorched battlefield. She could see him, @Cain Darlite, that man in white who had entrusted so much to her not so long ago. She could feel his wordless response, a rallying cry that needed no breath to carry it.

Bluebird fingered the ribbon around her arm, that scrap of the starlight that billowed ahead.

She advanced.

Though her twittering whistle was soon drowned out as she reached the edge of the high ground, closer to that banner where the soundless rhythm grew stronger. And standing at the edge, looking down upon the tide, she began to sing in reply - words that did not carry, but let her focus on the emotions they carried. Her magic soared and snapped, eagles chasing the serpents of the machine's song and ripping them to pieces.

The magic of harmonics could heal, but it was also a knife cloaked in silk. Today was the day to wield it. Now was not her time to lead, or to fall into peaceful harmony. Today she would be the dissonance, cutting through the song that would smother hope, marking a path for the others to travel.

She couldn't concentrate.

A green hedgehog (@Quinn) ran past her looking like a complete idiot. The way the goofball ran; there can be only one person who moved as stupidly as he did.

"Ken—"

She almost called out to him, if only the fucking DEAD.naught didn't suddenly kick her away with such destructive force while Moonsong was distracted, sending her flying back. "Fuck." Fortunately, her armor absorbed all the impact. Not only it looks dashing, but the armor was also practically indestructible as well.

"You're gonna pay for that."

She had another business to take care of before confronting the man who eerily looked like Kenji. The war machine locked on its front, charging up the Sky Lance before firing the devastating laser toward her and everyone in the vicinity. The brunette's pupil dilated and her eyes glowed faintly, as she was able to dissect multiple futures at once in the split second moment, quickly summoning her greatsword; Gramr.

"I've seen that shit before. It ain't gonna hit me."

Putting every strength in one single slash, Moonsong split the beam coming towards her into two, still hitting the wall far behind her but the damage is reduced from the blocking. Unscathed from the high-energy beam, a smug smile appeared on her face, challenging the siege machine with an inviting gesture.

"Told ya. Try again."

[ "Thank you..." ] Her written message to @Quinn, the one to rescue her when she had nearly doubled over from the wounds which began to reopen at a faster rate than she could handle.

Above surged a sky of blazing hues, vibrant and undeterred by the efforts that would bury the armies of Travelers and Landers alike under skies of gray and the unparalleled might of steel. Rhythm without sound, too faint still in its efforts to be heard, yet rousing all the same.

The voiceless took up her pen, and she wrote for the myriad protagonists and villains of stories left untold.

The voiceless took up her brush, and from the unending font of inspiration that was the world, she drew onto it a gift for which many had already given their lives.

For what were words, but power craved and sought after? What were they if not a sculptor's tools, used to carve world after world into being?

The will of the collective, taking the reins of what could and could not be, now surrendered to feeling.

The voiceless took up her pen, and she wrote for the world to change then and there. For all the manipulations that would fell them to lay themselves bare.

It mattered little the blood that trickled from wounds that refused to seal themselves shut, but the heroes which wouldn't soon remember their plight needn't have their hopes cut.

She wrote of a world without sound, and how its inhabitants, without laughter or despair to free them, by unseen chains remained bound. She wrote how a better world began with the word of a daydreamer, whom through prose and hope united passions which lay buried deep underneath the soil upon which they trod, and made themselves their leader.

The more she wrote upon the pages of her grimoire, poured unrestrained emotion into line after line of her poems, the more that the ink itself sprung to life by its own accord. It floated off of the pages and grew in size, extending throughout the space and making themselves read - no, heard - as they took to winds that carried them through the battlefield.

Music and songs were not all which could inspire, and neither was dance. Words could change worlds, and so did hers bring forth a wave of sound to carry the song of both Flagbearer and Songbird, cutting through the screams and the silence with a burst of iridescent light. To counter the Hymn that spelled their end, the words breathed life upon the land. Soothing and reigniting the passions, she wrote a celebration of humanity.

A celebration of Life.

A celebration of Hope.

Kyra Vashtana | Vern is an asshole

The ballistae had been easy enough to reload, letting her turn just in time to see the giant thing open, releasing...something. Her vision wavered as something touched the edge of her hearing, something that sounded...familiar.

Her ears twitched, trying to hone in on the sounds, her memory struggling to place the noise. She felt herself leaning forward ever so slightly, before the impact hit. She felt herself stumble backwards - thankfully moving away from the wall as her hands slammed into her head, trying to cover her ears as the shockwave hit fully, the noise causing her to scream in pain - a scream that likely went unheard.

She fell to her knees, holding her head as she tried to fight against the pain, the noise, before it began to subside ever so slightly. Not gone, but pushed back to a consistent pulse against her mind, rather than the shattering assault it had been mere seconds ago.

Tears welling in her eyes, she forced herself to her feet, using the ballistae to steady herself slightly. She looked at the others on the wall near her, seeing similar reactions. She called out to them, her voice shouting to a point she felt the pain in her throat - and yet she heard nothing, nothing but the screeching pain that seemed to overwhelm her.

The others didn't appear to react, didn't seem to notice her screaming. Her eyes, blurred by the tears of pain, searched for something to help them, before falling on the ballistae that she held on to. Whatever was causing the pain, whatever it might be...that beast of a tank had brought it.

She pushed outwards with her Primal Aura, sending the message to those along the wall within reach of her, sending a single imagery of a ballistae firing, the missile slamming into the giant tank, a feeling of anger behind it all.

With another soundless scream, she lashed out with her Aeromancy, her tail jerking so hard to bring the gust of wind to bear that she felt something snick inside of it, likely a sprain caused by the action. The bolt sailed, and Kyra felt herself slump slightly, silently crying for a second before she began the reload process for the giant weapon, a determination to end this foul thing welling up inside her.

As the bullet-razed war continued the rising harmonic symphony of @Cain Darlite @Bluebird and @Rael would relieve the mental anguish of the many Starcalled. Those with magia bodies regaining control as the commanding power of Hope's Requiem was being beaten back by the camp's most advanced bards.

Hope too had a sound after all.
Alas...

The silver magia heard their voices, heard the magia's rejection of her whims... and she recorded it all. For this was but a prelude.

She adapted.

The DEAD.naught began acting strangely. It retracted much of its artillery into its near-impenetrable armor. The entire magia raid force seemed to just slow for a moment. As if waiting for something to happen before proceeding.

XS-EVE lowered her arms to her sides and tilted her head downwards. Shapes began to form behind her. Although it was impossible for anyone so far to know what.

Her voice became more aggressive louder more commanding.
She sang her song for God.
And for her new Mother.

DEAD.naught
  • Is acting less aggressively for a moment.
XS-EVE:
  • Rows 3 and 4 (blue ringed area) are being approached slowly by the enemy. Perhaps she is preparing to do something there?

As the barrel of the giant cannon pointed downward, Fina gritted her teeth as one solitary remaining arcana chain wrapped around her arm, ready to pull her to the side. A dislocated shoulder was a bargain for hopefully dodging a point-blank shot from that thing. Thankfully, however, she did not have to do anything so drastic as Levi rushed in with an attack on his own. Something far more brilliant than the feline could ever manage, she thought. "T-thanks." On that, she got up and looked around. It seemed that a sea of flames surrounded them.

(@Ashifili* & @Raid Boss)

"Taking one of its legs off, huh? I like the idea... but looking at how attacks from others barely dented this thing's armor, I doubt I could be the one to do that. It's gotta be you. I'll try to immobilize it again. It won't be for long, but maybe it will give you a second or two to strike at a joint or some other weak point." Fina trying to talk strategy to the man who was commanding this whole battlefield, what a joke. But it was the best she got at this point. As the flames surrounded her and Levi, her eyes would fixated squarely on the machine, still moving uncaringly forward.

"I remember our first meeting... way back when in Eastern Brisshal when you were recruiting. You said you're a UI-locked player, right? You might be the commander and all, but I've never turned that pain limiter off, so this is all just discomfort. I'll push forward for the both of us so just stay behind me for a bit!" Whether he would listen or not, the girl used her cloak to push through the flames searing at her skin, sprinting directly behind the tank and leaping into the air as her arcanamancy got back into work.

This time, it was much bigger than the chains she used before. She knew she had to do something big to give Levi and others an opening, even if a small one. The flames of the battlefield fanned and swirled around the creation.

❰ Mystic Forge • Ember-wrought Nail ❱

A piercing nail fell directly onto the hunkering DEAD.naught, trying to pin it down into the ground as several smaller ones targetted the legs in a feeble attempt to keep them in place, even if it was for just a short moment. "Go ahead and cripple this stupid thing! Bring it down from its high horse!"
