The Dissonance Among Us

A crumpled piece of metal rolls down a hill of mangled magia. Heterochromatic eyes gaze up at the ever-closer Dragonhead. A power there made the astral senses tingle, a dissonant soul twist, and her mana burn. The Red Egg, the God Searing Light, and Szofrit... She should be worried or at least anxious, but no.

Wendy's human concerns were not going to sway Magi Heart today. Today the Heart would truly beat for the love of many. The grudge against a nemesis and the caring for the suffering all around. Wendel's instincts have taken complete control for the first time since she can remember.

A leg crossed over the other as a glove looking more and more like a claw held a magia's head in its hands. The poor thing had no expression. Not even a buzz buzz buzz like in the one attached to the wormy monster. Wendel didn't want to look at it anymore. Darkness encased it and into the astral incinerator it went. No more sad faces from wars.

Darkness crept like a velvet blanket over the small throne of magia bodies she sat on. Her dress wrapped around and each tendril worked to disintegrate the steel one piece at a time, lowering her closer to the ground as they progressed.

...what was that just now?

Magi's head turned and she looked back the way she came. Her head tilted and ribbons swayed across her dissonant face as she tried to mentally find the magic she felt. It was... like the one in her dream that day.

She looked down as her eyes caught the dozens of fate threads laying limp in a mess around her. They faded away as she returned to turning the rest of the magia she slaughtered saved to dissonant fertilizer.

Nothing was going to distract her this time. She would be a savior today for the red magia mommy.

Stepped on a bomb.

As Bradwynne was trying to go to another counter to get some of his chopped vegetables to include in what he was cooking, he noticed a sensation beneath his foot that was oddly hard. As he then looked down, he noticed that he might have stepped on a landmine, and it was primed to explode at any minute. Bradwynne was struck with a sudden fear that he was unable to move at all; his life then started flashing before his eyes so as to inform him that he might be on the brink of his final death. There was also a distinct sound of ticking that informed him that there were only mere seconds until his imminent death...

And then he then felt his body shoved away by a diminutive person, and Bradwynne woke up from his stupor as he saw his close friend @Hanno Futaba crouching with his shield in order to receive all of the impact of the bomb. He also saw other people who also tried to help, and he then felt a wave of anger at his own helplessness. Would he be staying this way always, being saved by other people, when he was supposed to be the one saving people?

As he was falling on the ground just before the third tick, he then cast his Divine Magic to heal everyone within this area. Although he would doubt they would go off after this with minor injuries, he hoped to at least try to remove the threat of death looming within here. This might be his final wish, and he hope that it would be granted just this time.

Within the last few clicks, the group helping Brad executed their plan. The moment Hanno pushed Brad to Feodan, he immediately pulled both him and the faerin girl into his chest as he turned away from the mine. There, the Mountain stood full-flexed, shielding the two from the blast with his back.

When the detonation came, its incendiary force filled the room, blowing out any windows that remained as the ceiling came down with the multiplied force of the three floors above, burying the four.

When the dust cleared and a bloodied and battered Feodan emerged from the toppled mess, hurling the large rock-chunks that had fallen on them. The four had somehow survived, in a true display of teamwork and grit.

Mechanics
  • @Alcea lowered the detonation damage (-25)
  • @Hanno Futaba and Feodan successfully shielded Brad and Alcea, they take 192 damage
  • @Bradwynne and @Alcea take 75 damage from collateral damage (blast and toppled building)
  • @Bradwynne may perform a power heal
  • The resulting HP is what these characters will start with in Part 3

Fortunately, Bradwynne's prayers were answered, and his Divine Magic went off, enveloping the area with white light amidst the explosion and the falling debris. As he was thinking mostly about his dear friend @Hanno Futaba who wrested him out of the area with his innate strength, the magic went off with him as the epicenter, granting him most of the power from the spell. As Bradwynne saw that the spell went off, he sighed with relief as he then landed on the ground and was then buried beneath the debris of a nearby building that collapsed due to the sheer power of the bomb.

Bradwynne then emerged from the debris after some moments, and the first thing that he did was to seek out Hanno. He was worried for him, because as it seemed, he would take the brunt of the explosion. He then moved towards the site of the explosion, and then scrambled through the debris to find him, hoping that he was alright and if the healing that he did worked after all.

The last thing Hanno saw was Feodan's wrapping his friends in his protective frame, with a momentary gratefulness filling his chest, despite the fear that was engulfing him.

Before he could process this gratefulness, however, the explosion came through, and it was a sequence of pain he couldn't bear. His arm felt scorched, ripping skin and flesh as it burned with the fire and fragments of the mine. It barely even gave time for him to react, leaving his shield to stretch her tentacles to try and cover him as debris piled up on him.

As he was covered in debris, his hearing was engulfed by a deafening ringing, with the whole world around him being muffled... Except for a familiar voice that whispered in his mind.

"@Rael..?"

He muttered, listening to the song filled with a plea and worries regarding the safety of not only the magia, but something greater.

Hanno struggled, trying to leave the debris, but to no avail... At least until @Bradwynne released him from his prison, seeing the faerin being covered by a smaller one, wrapped on bulky tentacles that spread from her back, while his wounds slowly regenerated with the paladin's last second's healing.
"Hah... Hey there... Buddy..." He smiled weakly, glad to see his friend safe and sound. "Glad to see you... How is Feodan and that girl..?" Hanno asked for the mountain @Raid Boss and @Alcea.

Assault to the Nest

Lúthien barely managed to release another twin pair of arrows towards the magia atop the catwalks of the wall before Fiora’s protective wall shielded the ranger from the incoming hail of bullets their enemies had pointed in her direction. Fiora’s distraction had been loud and effective, but not all their enemies were fooled into thinking the assault to their forth came from a single direction— red dots quickly swarming against the outer walls of a distant tower and revealing the sniper’s nest.

{ Fio, they’ve spotted him! }

She alerted the knightess just as her hands reached for another pair of arrows, carefully charging their metal tips with lightning before watching as a stray shot almost caught Fiora when the elf attempted to peek around her defenses. "Careful!" Her warning fell on deaf ears as the knightess tore the wall offering them cover in two, leaving Lúthien with just enough cover before she used the other half as a shield of sorts as she recklessly rushed towards the gates.

"Fuck—!" The attention of the androids instantly shifted towards the knightess, a vibrant flame in the darkness that demanded the attention of all the moths in its vicinity, and their fire power consolidated into that single advancing point that threatened their castle. Her arrows were loosened towards a particular cluster of magia as they took aim, hindering their attempts and drawing their attention back to the ranger before another burst of electricity incapacitated another small cluster.

It gave Fiora enough time to dip out of their aim, becoming an elven bulldozer as the woman focused her crushing blows onto the supporting beams that carried the weight of the structure. Like a house or cards a good portion of it soon collapsed and crumbled, a domino-like effect that offered no resistance as their access towards The Nest was established.

". . ."

The ranger cautiously peered over the defensive wall Fiora had left behind, crimson eyes carefully looking over the destroyed wall and rubble in case any magia still threatened them. Something about it all didn’t felt right, the elf unable to shake off an uneasy feeling that continued to pool in the pit of her stomach as one thing became evident to their eyes—@Ronja was nowhere to be found. Her eyes quickly snapped in the man’s direction once she felt his consciousness enter her network radius, and the relief that washed over her accidentally leaked outwards when Lúthien finally spotted the hunter.

A faint whisper crossed the air and brought her attention towards Fiora then, unable to make out the words at her current distance, before the ranger began to head in the knightess direction as the gang rendezvoused to plan their next course of action.
