The Frontline
Season 4 Finale - Part 1

The past few weeks have seen a grueling fight between Szofrit and the Starcalled. As the holidays approached, the defenders' numbers dwindled and it became increasingly challenging to fend off the relentless Dragonship enemies. With players constantly logging in and out and the number of them burnt out while defending nearly around the clock, it was difficult for the Chief Strategist, Accelerator, to make the most of the Starcalled's power. The best they could hope for was a stalemate.

To break the deadlock, Accelerator devised a plan. He assembled a team led by Childress and the Whistles, who had knowledge of the former capital. Their goal was to advance stealthily while the palace defenders increased their aggression, pushing into Szofrit's territory before falling back with the intention of taking the enemy's focus off of the stealthy pushers. For the Forward team, progress had to be slow and deliberate, as they were entering the enemy's stronghold. The team planned to utilize any available advantage, such as assassinating enemies and securing strategic locations, all the while occupying abandoned buildings. Everything was for the explicit purpose of establishing a safer route to the heart of Dragonhead. The closer they could get, the better their chances of success.

- ✦ -

When the first leyline shot up into the winter sky, the UI Noise caused a complete shutdown of communication between the starcalled, making it difficult for them to relay information back to Accelerator. This, combined with the debilitating effects of keeping their UI enabled, resulted in communication being cut off between the frontline, Camp Hope, and beyond.

To maintain some semblance of order, Accelerator utilized the services of speedy players as messengers, who served as his eyes, ears, and mouth, all to coordinate the efforts of the frontline despite the immense challenges.

Upon receiving news that Szofrit was launching an attack on both Camp Hope and Finweald, Accelerator seized the opportunity presented by the enemy's divided attention and pushed the Forward team further towards the heart of Dragonhead. Once they were close enough, he planned to launch a full-scale counter-attack against the leader of the Dragonship.

Forward
Season 4 Finale - Part 2

You are the way forward, you use every piece of knowledge and expertise available to you to push further into the enemy's territory, paving the way for the counter-attack against the dragon that had scarred Astorea and its people. Stick with your team and push aggressively, but methodically. Guide your team, feed the hungry, secure strategic locations, fight, heal, assassinate, hide, do anything to go forward. Inch by inch if you must.

Know that once you are at the frontline, there is no coming back. Go forward and when the opportunity presents itself, defeat the enemy or you will be assimilated.

When Lune arrived at Vintergard with the intent to go straight toward the Dragonhead, a team was actually already prepared by Accelerator, consisting of Childress and the Explorer's League. She was impressed with the agility of the decision-making and offered to join the squad to open the way into the Dragonhead. After all, she was crazy, not stupid.

Before the team departed, the blue-haired woman took a last look at the Immortal Heroine standing outside the city. Would she be able to do what Corvella could not?

The answer was already nearing.

As they pushed through, the steel reaver was tasked with taking down the scouting magia discreetly, which was easy considering she could see what would happen and had the means to kill them quickly. Crumpling them into a ball under the immense weight of gravity, of course.

The secured key paths, including the building that they were currently resting in. Lune decided to sit and meditate, trying to see much further into the future. Her fate. Unmoving for minutes, suddenly she opened her eyes, before standing up and approaching @Magi Heart. By the look in the girl's eyes, it was clear that she had found out about her identity already for some time.

"Magi Heart," Lune called out. "Remember that offer? That you will end my pain if I want?" She then nodded at the girl, unwilling to embrace her fate. "I'll give you that honor when the machines got to me."

The last time he'd come this deep into Vintergard, Zelrius had been with him. They crept past disturbing machines that appeared to sweep the streets for any sign of life, and then delivered scraps of biomaterial and metal alike to what could only be called a Forge. Old matter was repurposed into new Magia. He'd seen for himself the results, with an actual Player being fashioned into a construct. Other stories about the attack on Camp Hope also recounted a horrific assimilation, leading Jin to conclude that his theory was correct.

He'd studied before the foray with Ego to find the King, and again on several occasions, adding his own experience to the map. They were prepared to hit several key structures and decommission them in rapid succession. Powering down a Magia forge in particular would scale back enemy numbers to a critical degree.

They wasted no time, as the enemy would respond quickly to a threat. The group pounced on the wary Magia and threw themselves into engagement, diverting the attention of the sentries and defenders to the blitzkrieg.

@Lune masterfully utilized her Astramancy in the diversion, gravitic magicks ripping enemy magia off the ground and suspending them, making it difficult- nigh impossible- to resist the sudden onslaught. In the confusion, the Bloodsworn slipped into the Forge.

All the while, Jin prepared the curse. In the building where Zelrius had found the assimilated Jester, and he thrust his blade into the entrails of the facility.

Dark energies pulsated through the weapon, outward into the wiring and myriad power couplings. Heat emanated within them as they were warped, corrupted from the inside out, and slowly infected with the curse that would continue to propagate with every moment allowed. He wasn't a computer virus- he couldn't spread throughout their network and cause chaos in that way, but it was entirely possible to deaden this facility and force them to rebuild- a luxury that they didn't have, at the moment.

The ripple of an explosive chain reaction resounded from within the facility as birthing pods shattered and the blasphemous embryonic fluid splashed across the formerly austere metallic flooring. Jin watched the red and black energies reach to the very edges of the building before he ripped his weapon free and hurried to rejoin the group. There was no time to waste.

"Tenebre, do you know why I awakened you like the others, my precious gem? It is because I see your weakness and I hate to watch you wither a decaying flower when you can be an eternal rose. Raising a flower with the sun is a foolish idea when you can grow one with blood. By spreading grief you become stronger hmhmhm..."

Spreading grief for strength?

Vermillion used Wendel like a wild dog., for that? To control others and force actions that don't end in peace but only more suffering. Now, here she was. Free to do the exact opposite, end it all. ...and yet she was just a baby. Much like what lay within that Red Egg. Something that could change everything but just can't ever be truly free.

Szofrit was doing the same as Vermillion, just another red devil. The instinct that was Wendel, "to save", was matched by another she didn't understand.

A stir from within as Wendel emerged from the glimmering shadow to the frontlines.

...I'm...
No, you are me. Now I eat... for salvation.

The voice grew silent. Never had Wendel needed to struggle so much to push herself to be whole. That astral dream was a blessing and curse. Thankfully, Szofrit gave Wendel a chance to feel her own evolution through pain. Those few seconds at Camp Hope that had Raina so worried... alas:

Raina wasn't here.
Cain wasn't here.
Roland wasn't here.
Alpha wasn't here.
Blank wasn't here.
Brad wasn't here.
Eldhi wasn't here.
Kyanna wasn't here.
Wendy...was here, as Wendel was she.

"Magi Heart, remember that offer? That you will end my pain if I want? I'll give you that honor when the machines get to me."

Wendel gave Lune a look with her abyssal eye. This time Magi hid nothing of what she was outward. The inhuman was greater than human and only the most naive would think otherwise at the sight of her. Still, in whatever way, Wendel's dissonant face showed pity for @Lune.

"̴Y̴o̸u̷ ̴w̵i̵l̷l̷ ̸b̴e̸ ̴w̸i̵t̷h̴ ̴e̵v̶e̴r̵y̴o̵n̶e̶ ̶w̷h̶e̶n̸ ̷t̴h̷e̸ ̴h̸a̶p̸p̷y̷ ̴e̶n̴d̵ ̵c̵o̷m̶e̶s̵.̷ ̴*̷G̵i̵g̶g̴l̸e̶*̶ ̶g̴u̸e̴s̴s̶ ̵i̷t̶'̷s̴ ̶t̷i̵m̸e̴ ̸f̷o̸r̴ ̵M̶a̵g̵i̷ ̶H̸e̶a̴r̸t̸ ̶t̵o̵ ̶s̶p̴r̶e̸a̵d̷ ̵l̴o̵v̸e̷ ̶a̵n̴d̵ ̷b̷r̴i̵n̶g̸ ̵j̸u̷s̷t̸i̵c̷e̶.̶"̶

Body pushing back to these limits once again. With the chaos here, Wendel can easily mix her power into all of this and blend into the mayhem. Or she would consider such things if she cared. She only cared for...

EVERYONE.

Wendel expanded her negative influence and all who felt the grudge against Szofrit would have those feelings multiplied.

As he had seen the group that was sallying out of the palace, Bradwynne felt a sense of unease. Not because the group was too weak to sally; in fact they might have brought a sizable force to clear the palace environs of the magia that was inhabiting Vintergard since the Dragonfall. It was the fact that every single one that he had seen sallying out were a bunch of people who had no other thoughts but to exterminate whatever was in their way. To be honest, he would also want to do that: he really wanted these robots to be eradicated for the sake of his friend and compatriot Corvella, but this time there had to be the sane one among these people who will handle communications and provisions for the group, and he had taken on this task. In fact he had been doing this since the Lion's Pride had been in charge of overseeing the palace, and he should have left some provisions there prior to this sortie. And so he had taken the rear of the party, and tasked himself on cooking, healing, and keeping the rear steady so that they could secure a way back to the palace if things got worse.

As he was preparing the next portion of meals, he then felt a sudden wave of anger welling upon him. It was odd, he did not encounter that much problems on the way, so he had no reason to get angry. He was motivated in his job to keep the situation within control, but it seemed that yet another motivation was spurring him to do this...

Assassination

Childress was deep into the enemy's territory, weaving between the ruined buildings, making sure that the path was clear before she signaled those trailing behind her to keep pace with her as she slipped into a large armory occupied by large enemies. The building itself was three-stories high and full of storage rooms where the enemies are. With her dominant hand on her sword, she began counting down with her other after making a 'shh' gesture. Their objective was clear, they needed to kill or disable the enemies any way they can, all without making a ruckus.

Convoy Raider

Kiryuu's pointer finger was on his trigger as he looked at the convoy in the distance. It was his mission to stop these magia machines from carrying supplies back to Dragonhead. Unlike Childress and her group, who had to dispatch enemies silently, Kiryuu's group was to spring an ambush on those machines. After confirming their pathing, he gave those in his group the signal before charging toward the convoy, initiating combat with his rifle. "Go, go, go, take them down!!!"

Detominator

Feodan, meanwhile, stayed at one of the hideouts where @Bradwynne was. While patching up a few injured Forward party members, he noticed that @Bradwynne froze while cooking. When he looked closer at the youth, it dawned on him that Brad had stepped on a pinless magia explosive. Should Brad move so much as an inch and change the pressure he was putting on the device, it would detonate and splatter him every which way (217 damage to everyone within range).

The Mountain slowly got up. "Brad, don't move a single inch, alright? It'll be okay. We'll figure something out."

To not spook the others around, Feo gestured the other people close-by to get out of range while he approached the blonde. "If we can find a way to distribute a similar pressure on this explosive, I will swap place with you, lad."

Feo smiled.

To save Brad, see this post.

Scene: Detominator

After the disaster in Finweald, Hanno hurried to the frontlines as soon as he made sure his allies were in good conditions.

It didn't take long, however, for the first big problem to pop up in front of his eyes, and with his friend and factionmate, @Bradwynne, being endangered by a deadly trap that was recklessly installed by the magia forces. At the same time Hanno felt worried about his friend, he was relieved that at least it was someone like him, that would be trustworth and brave enough to face such predicament.

"It will be alright, buddy." He said, hiding his concerned tone behind his throat, and turning to gaze at Feodan.

"I don't think there will be any need to swap anyone in here." Hanno shook his head, not wanting anyone to take such a dangerous role. "But maybe, if someone here knows a bit about these explosives and guide me or help me out, we could create a small shield around its contraptions, to stop it from actually triggering." Hanno suggested, opening his hand and forming a small sphere made out of a divine barrier for illustrate it.

As soon as someone came along to help, Hanno would crouch down to work on the protective layer against the contraptions.

Alcea found herself holding her breath when she saw that one of their own somehow managed to step on a landmine. Stepping up to @Hanno Futaba, Alcea spoke evenly not to disrupt the Faerin as he weaved his spell.

"How about a safe detonation? I can push down on it with magic while he," Alcea gestured to @Bradwynne, "steps off. Then we can let the thing explode under a double shield. Timing will be tight though."

Gently reaching out to touch one of the shards floating around her, she coaxed out a mote of starlight and began to craft her spell. It would constantly maintain the amount of force that Bradwynne's foot had on the mine to give him a window to step off. It wasn't the prettiest spell, being quite inefficient on her reserves but it was the best she could pull off under the current circumstances.

"This might feel a bit weird, but get ready to step off on my mark. Steps might feel a little heavier than what you're used to," she said to Bradwynne.

Scene: Assassinate

The facility had labyrinthine hallways, controlled by what appeared to be a newer or variant model of the sentries that scoured Vintergard. They were slower, but their scans appeared to be more detailed- Jin observed the sweeping rays of light that seemed to pierce even the walls, presumably feeding data back to some central hub.

Those sentry units couldn't be left alone. Jin pointed the first one out without speaking, making a fist and a quick pounding gesture toward his heart.

One of the Whistles raced forward and skewered the unit with a heavy knife. The processor sputtered and spewed oil as electricity sparked from the gaping wound, setting fire to the ruined Sentry. It did not appear to have time to relay its data, but the lack of a feed would probably not go unnoticed for long.

"Anticipate more of these," he said, "and spread the word. Approach from the rear. Terminate before it can retrieve data on you. Do not linger in the area."

As if on cue, an alarm buzzed low in the hallway around them, and Jin heard the sound of a latch giving somewhere in the distance. He was disinclined to remain long to ascertain the cause. With a quick glance around, he saw a stairwell access, and he pushed through into a dimly lit area. Some of the others followed, while the rest fanned out to carry out their part of the mission.

Several more sentries were felled on the path to their target, somewhere on the third floor. The Astoreans were loathe to deal with it again. What information they did have told them that this would be the only opportunity they had to deal with it while it was indisposed.

They spilled out into the third floor with weapons at the ready, and a number of laboratory-adjacent facilities numbered in foreign text were laid out before them. They kicked the door of the largest in, and one of the Whistles took point, pushed the door in and cleared the area with his weapon-

"Unauthorized Access. Jogging secondary memory core for unit Hecatoncheires."

The brutish, massive Magia in the center of the room appeared to be powered down, but there were hundreds of wires connected to it, strange fluids and oil were being Infused into its being, and a screen that read "Updating Software" flashed behind it. The behemoth was not unlike the DEAD.naught from the Siege of Camp Hope, but instead of a definitive chassis, it's body was an amalgamation of fused metals, flesh, and synthetic. It had three massive humanoid arms, each of which dug into the floor as its eyes burned red.

"Saviors."

It clawed toward them, righting itself, the group found its courage. "While it can't use its main weapons!" one shouted. It watched them, curious.

"They were able to come by this information without being detected. This will be valuable information to report."

With a mighty roar of effort, one of the Whistles threw himself onto the Magia. Its arm whipped across faster than anyone could have expected. It took the man by the throat, squeezing the life from him. The other arms reached up, and it began to pull arms and legs from sockets. Blood cascaded to the floor.

Primary core memory at 25%... reawakening...

Screams from the Whistles that were trying in vain to dispatch the enemy they thought was completely offline haunted the facility. Though unfortunate for Jin and his group, it was very likely that they were drawing the attention of every Magia in the building. "This is getting out of hand," one of the Whistles turned to Jin. "Well, Bloodsworn? Ready to earn your keep?"

Jin had been watching, in truth, looking for an opening. He found one in the most unexpected of places. The massive lake of gore that slowly spread across the floor beneath the CHIMERA.naught erupted upward, ten thousand needles, and skewered the Magia. Some were stopped by armor and splintered off, while more than enough ripped through and exploded inside of it, creating a chain reaction of explosive, bloody blades.

The others turned slowly to stare at him, disgusted, horrified.

"Get ready. More are coming."

Wendel encroaches upon the magia mindlessly defending their mother. She swings an obsidian curved staff, edges stretching beyond the physical in plumes of magenta flame. A single gate opens. Staff to the front. Fist pulled back. Release...

The mana stream flows straight into the portal. Distorted over-the-top anime sound effects as if from a blurry memory herald the destruction that emerges from varying directions. Tainted magic of a girl's fantasy collides with the tormented steel of unknown futures. Patterns of annihilation fill the path forward. Mixing with the lasers fired by machines, they were non-discriminatory. All were equal in the need for permadeath.

As the shadow behind Wendel crawled outward. Under the cover of the fog of war, it merged itself with the other Starcaled, whether they wanted it or not, they were on the same side here.

For those that understood and could see beyond the surface...

This battle more than any before would show, that dissonance knows no sides, it simply grows and distorts and feeds.. fate dies in this place and only madness remains for the eyes of chaos that could be.

Yet this small dissonant, also sought to defy that, not that it mattered now.

The Dissonance Among Us
Magi is currently using Advanced Gudrun Rising. Her dissonance is both taking energy from anyone around and increasing the desire to destroy Szofrit and her army. Don't get caught in the bullet hell though!

Their network was set up with @Luthien as their living, walking comms center, and the ability from both elves to send messages to eachother telepathically, the need for the UI as a means to communicate was completely shut off so long as the group didn't clog up too much, even for those who were unfortunately not part of the long eared club.

They would focus on The Nest. They say that an organization is as strong as their weakest link, and this applies true even for structures: Could the dragonship be blindsided in time? Their only hope was to bite it through The Nest. The similarities with Camp Hope could not be denied between them, only high watchtowers and far more plate was present upon their walls than Hope's did.

Anything that got too close to it was auto-targetted and pulverized by calibers only known to the Magia, yet there was one weakness they could exploit to get the upperhand against the automatons and soldiers alike.

"We'll see if @Yugam can outsnipe a machine or get us killed with his inability to." That was her only concern. These were cold, logical, calculating robots. Yet the terrain was far from flat and open. Stone would be their cover, and the ruins of Vintergard itself would prove to be any ranged user's best friend. So long as they can traverse the nearly collapsing structures themselves.

If these Whistles were to be believed. So far, this specific chokepoint had gone under the radar, yet already they planned to assault supplies coming in their direction, so that covered any reinforcements The Nest could hope to pull.

"Luth, cover me, let the others know we are pulling a distraction at the front. Yu should rendezvous with us once he takes out their eyes." She said, methodical explanation on their not so elaborate plan: go in, assault from the front, from the sides, from the back. To exploit eachother's strengths to the maximum. There were plenty of places to check within The Nest, many buildings that certainly would be heavily armed.

But the chance that any form of intel lies within is highly probable, something one of their own Magia could maybe read into if they could hijack one of them and pay them with the same coin.

Most importantly was to push forth. If there was a gap in the ship's defenses, then a certain someone would take notice. Afterall, @Ronja Bubblyfoot was never one to leave loose ends for her friends. And that's perhaps what she saw Szofrit as right now, and this weak link was one for her to take care of.

@Luthien Could see it better than anyone how blinding Fiora's ire had turned out to be, a singular emotion that drowned and ate away at the rest. It was hard not to pinpoint her just from that alone. And yet it wasn't cold rage. It wasn't the explosive burst of rage of usual. If the elf and the dark-haired hunter didn't know better, she would seem completly normal. A calm and reasonable person.

She begun the assault the best way she knew: Throwing a boulder ripped out from the very earth itself as ranged weaponry against the gates of The Nest. Immediately, every system activated within The Nest, spotlights dropped upon the knightess and anyone nearby, forcing her to lift up an entire wall to use as cover.

Muzzleflashes begun to appear plenty across The Nest, who begun to rain hell over the elf once she begun to push through with only stone and debris as her shield.

Assault To The Nest
Fiora, @Yugam, @Luthien are all heading through to an isolated, broken-down section of Vintergard to assault The Nest: a heavily fortified chokepoint that takes in supplies into the Dragonship through a system of subterranean tunnels that had gone mostly unnoticed until now. And perhaps, a path straight to the ship itself!

Scene: Time is Tick Tocking

After rescuing @MAI and recovering, Kyanna tried to use her UI several times to try and get in contact with @Eva. However, the UI Menu was being nothing short of useless, which gave Kyanna no other choice but to march toward the frontlines, hoping that she could find something to help with.

Finally on the frontline, Kyanna and MAI soon found Eva, and for Kyanna's unpleasant surprise, it seemed that Tick Tock was still out on rampage.

To think not even Eva, out of all people, couldn't stop Tick Tock from misbehaving.

With the dire situation in mind, Kyanna tried to rush as much as she could, taking a map from anyone from the Explorers League and setting off toward the Vintergard's 'wasteland'.

At a time they stopped to rest, she brought out a rapid moving beast to take the initial recon. One of the many she had summoned for this particular challenge. She shared her senses with the creature, hoping to gather as much information as she could, and as soon as it returned, she made sure to write on a paper a small report, tie it around its neck and send it back running to the frontline camp.

She also gave a brief explanation to both of her friends, apparently having some group of magias patrolling the area, and some concentrations in specific spots that were probably serving as 'camps' for them.

"This is being tough..." She fidgeted, resting a hand as she felt a pang of headache.

"Eva... Where do you think we need to go next?"
Kyanna asked.

"... I wonder how Tick and Tock are feeling... I never thought they would go... So far."
She frowned, uncertain of what to think about them, before gazing to MAI.

"Mai, do you think you can talk with these strange Magias?" She asked, before adding, quickly: "Without putting yourself at danger, that is."

Time is Tick Tocking
@Eva, @Kyanna Wynne and @MAI are travelling directly toward the ship, attempting to recon the area a bit further, neutralize Magias to try and acquire information from them, and hopefully try to find the best route toward the Dragonhead, where Tick Tock and the egg are waiting.

Objective: Assault the Nest
+25 to roll - Cooperate: Kyanna Wynne

Running through Vintergard, unable to hear @Fiora Di Angelo or @Luthien, running through ruins, running away from Magia so as to not be caught, detected, and assimilated. What a fun gameplay experience. The dev's really knew how to make things realistic. Although lately, Yugam had been getting the feeling that this wasn't all just fun in games. The adrenaline coursing through him, Unmei's watchful eye warning him of the dangers he missed, and the single-minded focus. It was all a little too real to Hunter.

Even the paper missive in his hands, a recon report sent from Camp Hope, felt a little too real. The man nodded to the strange fungal beast that had delivered the message, giving it a quick pet and rub beneath the chin before sending it on it's way. The magia were pressuring the right most wing of their defenses. Chances were they might crumble if things didn't change. Not exactly an optimistic forecast.

Not much Yugam could do about it though, as he quietly crept up the floors of the destroyed watch tower, his rifle stowed away in favor of his sword. No revolver though, he couldn't give away his position too soon, and certainly not when he was this far from any allies.

Maybe it was luck or circumstances, or maybe the Magia had somehow overlooked this site, but the tall tower that overlooked the walls of their Nest was completely unguarded. Perhaps it was far enough away that they assumed no Traveler or Starcalled could make a shot with their measly bows and rifles.

But that was exactly what Yugam intended to do as he dragged a still intact table to the back of a room, the highest floor he could reach with a good view and without exposing himself. The man took off his coat and bundled it up, placing it at the head of the table before clambering onto the table, lying down, and resting the barrel of his rifle atop the bundled garment.

Unlike usual, a small scope had been fitted to Yugam's rifle, and peering through it, the man could easily see within the confines of his target. Magia milled about, some armed, on guard. Other carrying out whatever duties they'd been assigned. Large tanks of bubbling, roiling liquid, could be seen through the scope as well, with vapors climbing high in the sky. It was a full facility, complete with turrets mounted on the walls. And they were certainly distant enough that Yu would not have been able to hit them with traditional ammunition.

The crimson, almost glass-like bullet the clinked as he set them on the table however, were anything but.

"They should be coming up to the Nest pretty soon," Unmei said quietly, her back leaning against the wall of the window which Yugam aimed out of. "Got it," the man replied in a hushed voice as he dialed in his scope.

Seconds. Minutes.

And then a boulder crashed through the Nest's wall. And that was Yugam's cue. His rifle kicked, and he could feel his blood crafted bullet zip through the air, adjusting it's course to strike a turret, splatter against its metallic shell and then seep inside. The blood wrapped around the turret's internal workings, crystallized, obstructed anything it could until the turret lamely fizzled and died. One down, and another shot rang out. Again, Yugam adjusted it's trajectory just slightly to strike the vapor-emitting glass tank.

Boom!

The explosion shook the earth around the Nest, a green cloud of smoke rising high into the air as shockwaves subsided. "Okay, I did not expect that..."

Time is Tick Tocking

"Eva... Where do you think we need to go next?"

The inventor quickly flipped the pages in her journal, her eyes inhumanly calculating every piece of information that was related to the Vintergard and the magia takeover. "We'll be needing more information," Eva concluded as she looked at @Kyanna Wynne and @MAI, another rescued magia. "Dragonhead is of course the destination. However, it might not be our best bet if we want to find and save Tick and Tock."

"... I wonder how Tick and Tock are feeling... I never thought they would go... So far."

"They were not being themselves," She was never the one to shy away from stating the fact, that her hesitation and her lack of preparation caused whoever the entity Tick and Tock fused to escape. "And I failed in my task of stopping her."

Suddenly, an explosion occurred in the distance, causing a sentry to turn toward it in response while moving past the trio. Without hesitation, Eva moved out of cover, aimed her pistol, and shot disabling ammunition toward it, causing the machine to be stunned as the woman kept hammering more and more disabling shots.

"The ports are unusual, but I prepared for the worst," The white-haired woman inspected the back of the disabled robot, before pulling out a handheld device with many cables connected to it. "Let's try jacking in. We might be able to find where Tick and Tock are," She said to the other two.

Was Imoogi strong or skilled enough to be here on the front lines? Probably not. Was it fucking awesome to finally be in a proper fight? Hell yeah.

Sure, the lack of interface made it tougher to make proper potions - she had to eyeball the quantities and she'd dumped more than a few. But there were plenty of reagents to use, and she'd swiped some equipment to speed up the process.

And by "speed up the process", she meant "speed up the rate she could yeet potions at the enemy by way of hand catapult".

She'd followed Kiryuu and @Ueno Mizuki. She remembered her from that time with the yeti, and honestly? Mizuki seemed cool and strong enough to be worth following. How could she not appreciate a shapeshifting wolf lady that could tear things apart with bare claws? Definitely awesome.

Imoogi couldn't tear things apart with her bare hands, but she could sneak behind, waiting for the call...

"Go, go, go, take them down!!!"

Imoogi let out a woop and loaded up her hand catapult. "Eat this, metalheads!" She began to barrage the convoy with potions that erupted into clouds of stinging smoke and caustic flames.

After they'd successfully rescued MAI and prevented her from raising an entire army of magia Mizuki headed to Vintergard together with @Cleo Looker. She didn't think that summoning another army of wolves would be very helpful here, as unlike the magia of Finweald the machines they'd be facing this time would be more likely to wipe out an army of canines with overwhelming firepower. To her surprise the assault on Vintergard was already thoroughly planned out despite the chaotic consequences of the surprise attack Szofrit had sprung upon the defenders of Astorea.

While others headed out for their own tasks Mizuki joined Kiryuu, the man she mostly remembered because he had a sword through his cheek the last time she saw him. Now that they were inside Vintergard and mobility was no longer the highest priority Mizuki turned back into her usual form, putting Cleo down gently as her expression was grim.

This is going to make Finweald look easy in comparison. Let's be careful.

To disrupt the enemy's supply chains was one of the most fundamental aspects of war, and this was a war they were fighting after all. After accepting an interesting gadget from @Eva which supposedly would help with the task. A small trigger combined with several detonators, in case something needed blowing up.

The machines that were carrying supplies to the Dragonhead were more ordinary in appearance than most, as they had little purpose beyond acting as beasts of burden. Mizuki's mismatched eyes narrowed as she glared at the turrets that the convoy would use to protect itself, flexing her fingers as she considered the best course of action.

I'll go ahead and keep them busy, you take them down while they're vulnerable. (She looked back at Cleo as she said this, then shifted her gaze to @Imoogi.) Got any concoctions which work against metal?

After receiving some explosives from the snake girl and combining them with the operable detonators Eva had handed out Mizuki waited for Kiryuu's signal, inhaling deeply as her stance lowered. Those turrets would rip her to shreds if she didn't do this quickly and efficiently.

The moment their leader gave the signal Mizuki shot forward, bounding across the landscape as her fingers lengthened and changed shape, wooden texture overriding skin and flesh as each finger wrapped itself around one of Imoogi's creations. Once the turrets were aimed at her she began to zigzag, ducking low as she could hear the physical and magical ammunition zip overhead to rip apart the ground she'd been running moments before.

After reducing the gap by half Mizuki let out a growl as she wipped both hands around, her metamorphed fingers extending and launching Imoogi's potions like slingshots. The barrage of bombs sailed through the air as Mizuki kept running, now going on all fours as her hands were no longer occupied, moving faster and faster even as some of the alchemical projectiles were shot out of the air by the hail of bullets that was threatening to overtake the luna wolf if she slowed down.

Once the bombs had nearly reached their targets Mizuki grabbed the trigger she'd received from Eva, pressing the button before tossing the small device aside to keep running. For a split second nothing happened, but then all the bombs detonated at the same time, shrapnel flying in every direction as the shockwaves rocked the convoy machines and left them flailing in an attempt to regain their balance.

Several shards of shrapnel hit Mizuki as well, the luna wolf growling as she ignored the stinging sensation. She was almost in range for her own trick... leaping one more time she raised both hands, slamming them against the ground upon landing right between the machines. She'd felt the roots that still survived underneath Vintergard before, and she would call upon them once again.

The earth rumbled, the ground shook, and suddenly a small forest of roots erupted from the ground, wrapping themselves around every magia and machine they could find that was acting in service of Szofrit to make them easy targets.

Scene: Time is Tick Tocking

Even after she regained most of her functionality and sense of self, MAI was not in too great a shape. She felt slower, sluggish, and weak. Yet, she still insisted on coming to the frontlines with @Kyanna Wynne. After witnessing herself committing atrocities in Finweald, she had no other option but to help. Though... being in the proximity of so many individuals who seemingly enjoyed destroying all of the magia present sent shivers down her spine. Clutching at Kyanna's jacket, now draped over MAI's shoulders, she tried to focus on what was ahead of them.

There was not even any time for introductions with @Eva, someone that the fungus witch apparently knew quite well. The woman appeared quite capable, but there might have been some error in her reasoning. Or perhaps it simply came across as such to the magia who was in possession of their enemy not too long ago.

"The Dragonhead... no, they are probably there. All of the Magia who were taken by the lullaby. Guarding the Red Egg... they will probably be sent out to defend the area once we make sufficient enough progress."

Even she herself was sent back to the Dragonhead when she collected enough magia with her own lullaby. As for the whole Tick Tock conversation... well, MAI wasn't able to say much. After all, she had no idea who this even really referred to. She inferred that it must have been a fellow Magia, but that was about it. Still, she tried to give the two other girls some words of positivity.

"Neither of you should be feeling bad for failing to prevent this, or for not being able to calm them down. They must have fallen under the same influence as I did... it was impossible to resist. And the only reason why I could return to normal with Kyanna's help was because I managed to divide my own consciousness between this body and a drone of mine."

It allowed her to fight back against the influence the whole time while others were entirely consumed by it. A terrifying thought indeed, but MAI put it aside. She already wanted to answer the witch's question about talking to the enemy magia and how that would be likely impossible when Eva swiftly immobilized one such enemy and decided they could hack it to attain some information. MAI was quick to gently grab the woman's hand.

"Let me do it... please. I want to help and I managed to extract information from the remains of the DEAD.Naught that attacked Camp Hope."

Not waiting for any kind of permission, the girl pulled out a cord from beneath her hoodie, attached to her lower back like some kind of tail. Unlike Eve's device, it was fully compatible and soon attached to the paralyzed sentry. At the same time, MAI released several small drones that all took off in different directions. Whatever useful information, such as enemy numbers, routes, and anything else, would be broadcasted through the drones and MAI herself to any ally that was nearby.

@Eva, @Kyanna Wynne and @MAI are traveling directly toward the ship, attempting to recon the area a bit further, neutralize Magias to try and acquire information from them, and hopefully try to find the best route toward the Dragonhead, where Tick Tock and the egg are waiting.

Scene: Convoy Raider

Following after @Ueno Mizuki made it pretty clear that she was making the correct decision. Her girlfriend was, after all, something of a veteran to these big, wide-scale events that apparently kept happening in the game. All things considered, it was probably the safest option for her, too, even if it was probably likely that Mizuki might coddle her.

After all, she herself would probably do anything she could to protect Mizuki...

Still, the plan was pretty simple. Mizuki would distract and restrain the convoy, whilst Cleo herself picked off targets at range with her spears. It was a role she'd started to settle into pretty well, truth be told. Somehow being a sniper by throwing spears had kind of just worked out for her, all things considered.

She turned to Mizuki and nodded.

Alright, try to stay safe when you're out there, okay?

And with that, she settled into position and waited for Mizuki to move before she began. A sparkle of red filled her hands and she grinned, twirling a pair of arcane spears that she'd formed, eyes scanning for targets.

The flash of turret fire told her where those turrets were, as they fired upon the moving Mizuki. Her focus sharpened, the world almost seeming to slow down as her kinetic vision exploded, the world's clarity so acute to her that it was almost like nothing else in the world had ever been this real until right now. An arm pulled back, spear twirling until she held it, the tip pointing out and down along her arm.

A step forward, a twist of the hips. The spear left her hand, sailing less like a spear or an arrow and more akin to a tactical missile, in terms of the accuracy. Though even as it sailed towards its target, another spear formed in the now free hand, whilst she drew her other hand back to throw its payload.

Over and over again, she would strike key targets one at a time, disabling first targets that would attack or harass attackers, then focusing on shutting down that supply chain.
