Season 4 Finale - Part 1

Tetsunosuke has been trapped inside his Stokbon workshop for days, working on his new beaut after his previous one broke down in the last navel excursion. He was so immersed in his work that the lullaby caressed his brain without him noticing.

[ Handler Permission: Szofrit. Command: Override. Autonomy: Bypassed. ]

The commands came quick and silent, ceasing the blonde's psyche as Szofrit dove into his mind.

❰ Handler's Directive: Activated ❱
Attempt to Resist: Failed

His mind was wracked by a migraine unlike anything he had felt before.

Amid the mental storm, a distorted image of Szofrit appeared before him, speaking to him with an equally glitched voice.

[ The Red Keychild will soon be born. In order to complete the Red Key and access the Creator's Database, all we require are the other two ships. For the sake of the saviors, failure is not permitted -

You have been granted the Critical Factor and corroborators. Hinder the Starcalled's fighting capability by any mean necessary. Tap into the Handler's power reserve when it is required. ]

Tetsu nodded, "Understood."

When Tetsu looked down at his hands, a red lightning could be seen weaving between his fingers. However, when he looked up, a small spatial rupture had been formed, taking him to Camp Hope IV.

Directive: Hinder the Starcalled's fighting capability by any mean necessary

"By all means necessary." Tetsunosuke muttered under his breath as he walked within the confines of Camp Hope IV. Although it seemed that his general demeanor was unchanged, whatever was within his mind was changed. While all of the former memories of the body was still intact, all of the emotions regarding those memories were erased, and replaced with extreme respect for his current overlord. But of course the memories that were stored were not meaningless for this current Tetsunosuke, albeit his lack of connection to those. Au contraire, this was a wonderful record of the typical thought process of creatures of this world. In fact, the lack of analysis on things like these was what led to the string of failures that his overlord had sustained in those past days, as well as the ludicrous loss of material that the humanoids can analyze and assess for them to bring upon the doom of his overlord.

This, this current Tetsunosuke would NOT allow anymore. They have suffered too much loss, they could never risk much more than that. And so a measured approach should be done.

Gleaning through his former incarnation's memories, Tetsunosuke greedily took out the data that he needed the most, while also sending to his overlord everything that concerned their enemies and their own survival. He would have more time to glean more through them all, once his mission has accomplished and he will have the time to expand their dominion and exercise their rule in this world. Knowing about the true number of times that the Starcalled be killed to get them out of the equation, he would then focused his target on those who currently had their third death, so as to demoralize their opposition and give them more time to entrench. Primarily, the current leader of the humanoids of this area, Astor Balthas, and the commander of the Lion's Pride, Levi Pendragon; fit those criteria and taking them out will do a great job. But as the former was still perilous to target, he would focus on the latter, and once he was taken out, he would target as many prominent members that could be taken out easily as possible, so as to create more despair for their opponents. As he gleaned on the psychology of his opponents, he thought that they should inflict as much despair as possible on them. If a person would desire to be a hero amongst them and would rouse their troops, that person should be taken out first and foremost. Hope should not be left to pester, all hope should be rounded up and exterminated as one would exterminate pests in their homes.

He was supplied more power and troops to do his objective, and he will use them as smartly as possible. As he then beckoned his newly-made mech inside Camp Hope, it was filled with as many troops he could load inside as possible, while the remainder was stationed at all sides of the camp, hidden and lying in wait until the final moment. Of course he would pose as his former persona while doing that, so as to not elicit suspicion from the guards. Also, one mechload was enough for the job, more ingresses would be deemed as suspicious. If done, all the troops would then be beckoned to hide within key locations within the camp, and would wait until the night after the day of the ingress. Nighttime was always the best time to attack humanoids, as they would typically fall asleep in those times; exceptions to the rule are really minimal and should pose no threat. And so, every troop outside the camp will be issuing an attack at nighttime at all fronts, but making sure that every casualty amongst those troops would be minimal. Some minutes after this attack, the hidden troops would arise and attack those within the camp which were focusing on the troops outside. Tetsunosuke himself would be lying in wait and, when he would get the chance, would attack and kill every high-ranking official within the camp, so as to cause more havoc and despair.

"Operation Decapitation, start." He muttered to himself while riding the mech turned vehicle.

Chaos had already spread throughout Camp Hope IV like wildfire. The destabilizing UI was particularly strong the closer one got to Vintergard. As such, the players at camp would find it nearly impossible to log out, much less navigate to the setting to disable their UI.

When Testsunosuke commanded his troop to ambush the camp, they were able to deal severe damage to the camp personnel and those who weren't ready to respond to such immediate violence. Blood was spilt en masse, though more on the camp that stood against Szofrit.

Levi, who had just gotten back to camp from the Ruined Palace, was without his allies, most of whom had been sent to occupy the Ruined Palace to stop Szofrit's troops from taking it back.

The moment the ambush reached his ears, the weary knight leader spurred his horse toward the location of the attack, his blade brandished, tireless eyes trailing the road to protect his people.

There lies the opportunity the taken Tetsunosuke had been waiting for, the Critical Factor trembled in anticipation as Tetsu eyed his prey.

Tetsunosuke just silently watched as he was slinking in complete alacrity and stealth as great confusion rattled Camp Hope. But whatever happened there, whether they or the defenders were gaining upper ground, was of no issue to him. Magia troops, after all, respond to orders more accurately than humanoids; if they were asked to withdraw once they sustained heavy malfunctions, they would simply retreat without question. But what was more important was that, it seemed that everyone who were in Camp Hope at the moment were just soldiers of relatively low rank, and so Tetsunosuke also included the outskirts of Camp Hope in his scouting duty. He then kept patrolling the perimeter as safely hidden as he could, until he had received confirmation from his troops that was facing the section of the camp facing Vintergard that reinforcements were sighted from afar. He then moved towards the secluded areas near the road leading to Vintergard.

It had seemed that the report was accurate, and the reinforcements rushing towards Camp Hope was led by none other than the Commander of the Lion Arms, Levi Pendragon himself. Seeing his prime target moving near, Tetsunosuke waited patiently: this should be done as quickly as possible, as he could only surprise a person once. Nothing should be spared at the moment, as the magitech sword was drawn from its scabbard. Accounting from the speed of Levi's horse and his own, he would deign to aim at the target's four-o'-clock direction so as to take advantage of the target's relief of passing through uncomfortable territory, unleashing the Critical Factor just before he would strike at the target's neck.

The wrathful Critical Factor was swift but not nearly as swift as the battle-hardened knight, whose sword was responsible for something much greater than himself. When he raised his sword to defend his neck, the sword took the deadly impact head-on before he swung his sword and deflected the attack wayside, rejecting Szofrit's gift of death.

After the successful deflection, Levi instinctively raised his sword, "Storm of Gladius, fall on my enemy!!!"

On his command, swords began to rain from above, covering every foot of space within Testunosuke's vicinity. There was no hiding from the swordfallen attack as it sought to erase the blond magia.

After Tetsunosuke's last attack, his arm disintegrated from the immense power entering him from the Handler's Power Reserve. Should he retreat here, the Red Death on horseback will not be able to pursue him after his counter-attack, but should he choose to stay and overdraft himself... the World demands payment.

Levi will not die, but should Szofrit's touch bypass his defense here, the Starcalled will be down an ally.

@Tetsunosuke

You are given a choice. Disclose your plan in private before you post.
  • Stay and press your luck to fall the Red Death staring you down from his horse. Should you overcome his defense, he will be indisposed for the upcoming battle. Your body is pushed to its absolute limit because of the Critical Factor. Do you want to overdraft the Handler's Power Reserve?
  • Leave, recuperate, and you will have the time to hinder the Starcalled's forces in other ways.

The assassination was a failure, and Tetsunosuke then found himself riddled with swords on his entire body. The arm that once housed the Critical Factor with which he issued an attack on Levi had disintegrated, and, with it gone, and with the current situation of his body, any viable means of attack would render him defunct, and if the system of this world would reincarnate this body, one would not know if he will keep this current persona or not. The solution is 100% leaned towards retreating and finding more opportunities to attack high-level personalities within the society of Astorea and the Starcalled, and Tetsunosuke was inclined to follow it. There was no need to strain the current resources of his master any further; he would have an opportunity to invoke them much later when they succeeded in their directives. For now, he would strengthen himself and his remaining forces to prepare for any contingency they and their master would face. There would be more opportunities coming; there was no need to rush things.

Without a word, Tetsunosuke activated his jetpack and flew as far as he could, while directing his forces currently at Camp Hope to issue a fighting retreat until they are out of reach from their opponents' weapons, and then speed up away from the area. He would need all of his remaining forces to prepare for the next attacks, as well as to repair those which were broken and to create as many more of them as possible.

@Tetsunosuke decided to be strategic and aimed to win the war rather than pushing his luck in a losing battle. As such, he fled from the Camp as Levi aimed his sword at the sky to strike down his assailant. The Knight Leader did not hold back as someone had directly aimed for his head. The fact that he was not a marksman meant that Tetsunosuke was able to escape.

It will be some time before he will resurface to haunt those who stand against Szofrit.

Season 4 Finale - Part 2

You and your team have been given mounts to pursue Levi's assassin. The spotter among you found his tracks and led the group to a carcass of an abandoned fortress. There were remnants of Tetsu's mechanical parts along the snowy trail leading up the hill to the abandoned fortress. The fortress itself was set up strategically, surrounded by hearty winter trees that made traversal difficult.

BANG!

A shot broke the silence. It was loud enough that the snow-laden pines quivered, depositing snow below.

BANG!

Another shot. These were aimed at your head. They weren't warning shots.

You braved the death hill, taking refuge behind a partial wall and broken pillar as your group and your bounty were locked in a precarious situation. Your resources are limited. Who would win in this war of attrition?

"They made this far immediately?" Tetsunosuke, who was fixing his body with the knowledge of the advanced magia that was imparted to him by the network of the Dragonfall as well as this body's magitech skills, thought as he received the report from the remaining magia that was manning the fortress that had long since abandoned. This should have been the perfect base to start with in making a military-industrial complex to support his master, but this hasty attack of the Starcalled put a halt to his plans. But...

"A siege battle against something that does not tire will always be in vain." He then directed his magia to attack the invaders at pinpoint accuracy while still protected by the fortress walls, while he would fix himself and would create as many makeshift magia factories after that. They would need to reach self-sufficiency here as fast as possible.

He was pushing the warmth out of his mouth and making his body suck down the cold air. It seemed that he had been given a mission again from the crown and one that would require him to be better than ever. He had heard the reports back at camp. And he had heard the reports from the others, but more importantly, he had seen the mess that was made in the attack and traced it in his mind's eyes. It had been close, something that might have crippled a nation to be without its general in a time of war; the people were going to need orders, and he would need to bring this one in. He had replaced his normal cloak with one made to blend into the snow a bit better and a bit warmer. It was something to help as they moved and tracked the boy further up into the mountains; he had run far, maybe from his mind, maybe under the control of something else. But that was something another person needed to care about; for now, the boy just needed to be taken down and brought in.

Stuffing a mouthful of snow into his mouth as the first shot rang out, he dropped behind the pillar and pulled out one of his arrows. The black-fletched thing was heavy in his hands as he waited for only a second, then he moved. The next shot came where his head was, and he knew it. He could feel the way the shots were moving through the air. He could tell when it was safe enough for him to move and when it was safe enough to put an arrow into someone. He was a spot that was moving through the snow, and when he nocked that arrow, he sent it with enough force to punch through armor and knock someone to the ground. He could not spend too much time here when there was a war all around him.

Information into the frenzied magia and glitched UI had been sought out at Camp Hope. The chaotic nature of Terrasphere brought forth new questions rather than answers. While trying to uncover answers, a hacked player attacked the acting commander with a pack of magitech at their side.

A sense of deja-vu washed over the white-haired woman as she gripped onto her assigned mount. The last expedition she partook in required aide from magitech steeds. Her metallic horse had been a ruffian but, in the end, they'd bonded. She wondered if Thunderstruck was alright or if he too was being ravaged by the virus.

Unlike the experimental steeds, though, the horse she rode was made of flesh and blood - her warmth was much appreciated due to the chilled air. The small counterattack unit approached the fortress at a full gallop.

Bang. The chestnut mare reared and jumped forward; the crafty horse avoided the shots by sacrificing her rider. Aka Aerial.

The impact of the shot caused the woman to tumble from the mount's back and land with a large thump. As the horse abandoned her, Aerial struggled to stand. Unfortunately, she was a sitting duck. Eventually, possibly bruised and bleeding, she managed to dart behind the feeble cover by @Aalam Abungu.

Her luck with equines, reindeer included in that category, was horrendous.

There was no real time to check what damage had been done. While she struggled to recuperate from the volley of attacks, a bolt of lightning was summoned to help provide cover. It aimed at a platform where troops stood, hoping to crumble it beneath them.

"Fucking horse. Using me as a meat shield."

she hissed through gritted teeth.

Rootin' Tootin' Robit Shootin'

I raised my rifle and glared down the sights. "Your batteries will run dry eventually, your stupid robots!" Crack! The sound of thunder echoed across the field as I pulled the trigger once more.

Oh, I'm mad as hell right now. It's fuckin' freezing out here. Camp Hope's a literal powder keg in the middle of exploding all over the place. UIs are glitching. Magia are going haywire. This grimy blond pile of spare parts tried to assassinate the Lord Commander. And now he and a handful of his goons are squirreled away in an old fort, taking pot shots at us through windows and from behind parapets as me and the others tried to inch closer.

And while Blondie is correct that the others may eventually tired; I run off a reserve of spite that could outlast the heat death of the universe. And I would not give up until either they or I lie dead on the cold, cold earth.

From my spot behind a tree, I wait for an energy bolt to whizz past me. In an instant I throw on Deadeye. As the world goes gray around me, I whip around and raise my rifle once more. A red aura surrounds a figure peering through one of the windows on the second floor. I have my target. I pull the trigger.

Crack! Crack!

Two shots. Fire and smoke erupt from the barrel, and a split second later the glimpse of red disappears. Whether my aim was true or they got lucky and slipped back behind cover, I wasn't sure.

Deft fingers slip into the pocket of @Madison Freebird 's trench coat and grasp at the silver flask hidden there. As the sheriff fires off another shot, attention diverted to the task at hand, Nyx lifts the container from its hiding spot, flicks the top so it quickly rotates and falls over, and then lifts it to her lips. Taking a swig, whatever was inside burned going down, but the warmth was a boon.

It was fucking freezing out here.

"You know the fun thing, Sheriff?" she asks as the flask descends from her mouth, her violet gaze squinting at the hazy glint of sunlight that reflects off of it. "These robots are still fucking terrified." Her tongue peeks out, the piercing rolled along her bottom lip almost in contemplation.

A stray shot buries itself in the ground next to her and the buzzing that has been in her ears suddenly quiets. She blinks, glances up at Madison, and sighs as if tired or, dare to believe it, bored. "Guess I should pull my weight, huh? Elsewise, you won't invite me along anymore." She pouts as she picks up the top and screws it back on the small container.

Dropping it back into Madison's pocket, she gives the Sheriff a smirk and a salute before disappearing in a cloud of smoke and shadow, her lithe figure reappearing crouched in the window frame. The poor magia Madison had shot was dragging themselves away, little dime-sized droplets of blood following their slow escape.

Nyx grins while unsheathing the slim rapier at her side. Quietly, she tsks in what some might consider to be disappointment. And when she does, another gout of fear floods the air. The force of her inhale mimics that of scenting a bouquet of roses. "I'd give you ten paces, but I ain't really the lawful good type. Sorry partner."

Unlike the others, the raging blizzard did nothing to slow Ash down. The blood of this beastfolk ran hot in his veins, reducing the piercing chill to a vague discomfort. Which was good, because he needed every advantage he could get as he approached the fortress head on, drawing fire from the gunners within.

It wasn't his usual strategy, but he wasn't in his usual state of mind. Without the crutch of Terrasphere's system to guide, he'd resigned himself to a different sort of aid, and the spirits of the dead were beyond the crude puppetry of auto-assist.

He stopped before the fortress, numb to the pain of the bullet wounds that broke past his armor. He looked upwards, and a cold smile crept across his face as he raised his sword.

"The dead do not sleep, Tetsunosuke. Can you and yours say the same?"

❰ Chthonic Grasp ❱

Ash slashed downwards, cutting a black rift that split like a widening eye. Spectral arms erupted from the rift, reaching into the fortress through any gap and crack they could fit through. Any living target they could reach would soon feel the cold chill of death sapping away their will. Hopefully not enough to kill: many of these were still players, and killing wasn't a weight Ash could bear.

The shootout was slow and drawn out. @Aalam Abungu struck one of the Hateful Eights while avoiding shots coming to him thanks to @Aerial alerting him every time she heard anything remotely resembling firearm, all the while hiding behind him. @Madison Freebird meanwhile provided covered shots while @Nyx and @Ash Vargold used the opportunity to head in and suppress the hidden enemies.

Although the group managed to break the Hateful Eight's formation before suppressing and detaining them, the person they were after @Tetsunosuke had abandoned his gang and took off. Chasing him was going to take far too much time and resource now. Especially considering his magitech was heavily damage and he no longer had the Hateful Eight to protect him, he was no longer as much of a threat as he was prior to the shootout.

As the group reconvened in the fortress with the bad guys all tied up, a horseback messenger stopped by to inform the group that the rest of the Starcalled were rallying at the Ruined Palace in Vintergard, where a raid into Szofrit's base was being staged at that moment.

A growl pushed its way out of his throat as he looked into the distance. It seemed that they were going to be needed elsewhere. However, he was going to return to tracking down the boy. It was one of the things that he did, and when he did get that job, he was going to get paid damn well to do it. But that was a problem for another day; turning his head to the rider and nodding, he would have to start heading back if he was going to make it in time to help. He reached down and yanked his arrow out of the body of one of the eight before placing it back into his quiver, pulling his cloak up over his head as he turned in the direction the running had informed him about. It would take him some time to get there from this distance, even if he were to move all the growth between himself and the Palace. "This will take me time." Turning back to the ground letting his eyes rest on them, and giving @Aerial a nod. "Thank you for the assist. Hopefully, the throw did not break anything important." With that done, he turned to head to the Palace as they would need some help to hold the siege, which he had experience with, and if he were to guess with all that was going on, he would need his extra quiver.

"If anyone else is heading to the Palace, I will see you there, and if not....well, then best of luck heading into the belly of the beast. Kill something if you can." And with that, he heads off, heading out in the direction of the Palace at a slow run moving over the ground, hoping to get out of the snow soon so he could hitch a ride on the trees.

"Go and recall the others. Our salvation must be protected at all cost."

She wasn't in good conditions, however...

The memories of dissonance touching Szofrit made Ronja's chest feel heavy and tight, despite her artificial structure. She needed to hurry, because no one knew how much longer they had.

Ronja's form flickered into existence, gazing across the region until she finally found her ally, who was hurrying in a chase. Her eyes widened slightly seeing his state, and she flew toward him, holding and offering her own body as a support if necessary.

"@Tetsunosuke, the leader is calling for us." She said, peering at the damage caused to him with a concerned expression. "Ronja will assist you in your repairing, but we may still hurry." Ronja said, touching the Handler's Power to come back to the Dragonhead, where she would leave him for a recovery before returning to recall more allies.
