"Ohhh... I remember him! In my defense, though, we've fought with a lot of people and I have a pretty stressful day job! How the <yo momma moos> am I supposed to remember random gamer names?! ...ah, <yo momma snores> it, I'll figure it out. I'll find Tetanus Kid and spank him. Don't die while I'm gone."

Chrys mutters the next line under his breath.

"...I want to see you croak, again, with my own eyes."

We will have to deal with Szofrit later.

Fiora set her eyes upon the group. Only missing one bird, yet all of them were familiar faces, only now the cold of the blizzards in Finweald didn't bother their vision. They would be able to look at eachother in the eye with a far clearer conciousness compared to the last time.

We failed her. We tried to play heroes, and we couldn't save her. So now the time to play hero is over. She didn't kill us, so now we know how she operates, but be ready for a surprise. The plan's simple

She declared with null passion.

@Harper , I'm gonna need you at the front with me this time. I'll throw you at Ronja and offer cover. Focus on her legs, if you can tear one boot away, then she lost her ability to fly.

Bullets, hounds and arrows might fail. But they had to trust in the tigress's claws.

@Luthien, she's gonna use the debris to her advantage. Shut down whatever she flings at us, and aim for center mass. You can't miss, so close your heart to everything else and focus on Ronja and Ronja only.

She nodded at her, then turned over to face @Yugam. He didn't need to be given a position: The hunter knew exactly what to do, but obligation forced her lips to open once more.

We need to corner her. Harper and I will try and leave her with no options to escape. And we'll give you the opening to open fire. We need your hounds to keep track of her at all times should she camouflage herself.

And with that, all the team had a directive to follow. Fiora took one last breath, stared at each of them, then turned around once her stone-cold expression begun to falter, eyes closed as she prepared her mind for the last stretch.

I want to see us all with her sitting infront of a dinning table. So don't take stupid risks. Let's bring her back home.

Ever since Hanno had @Rael's words slippering in his mind, he had been looking for her after spreading the word about the possibility of a less destructive solution.

Finding her was tough, but thanks to @Ayna Nietzsche's message, he managed to find a way to the pinkette.

"Rael-" Hanno said, certainly not in the best conditions, with the left arm and part of his face bandaged and quivering slightly. "I've heard your words, and Ayna told me where to find you... " Hanno frowned.

"I don't think our leaders are inclined to go for a peaceful solution, only if opportunity shows itself." His fist squeezed. "We need to at least save the magias who are stuck under Szofrit's corruption, otherwise they will be caught in this crossfire... And will certainly get on our way for her."

She gave one last glance over to the group, hair bangs barely managed to cover the bloody mess hidden behind, yet the winds were unkind to Fiora, letting the trio see the void within that socket every now and then.

"I'll try to reach out to other Starcalled. I know exactly someone who could help, given his disposition. She will be okay, but..."

Her gaze went back down to @Ronja Bubblyfoot, a frown crossed her features as she stroked her cheek tenderly. "I just hope she thinks this is all a nightmare and it never happened..." What should she say? There's a lot to be said, and not enough time whatsoever.

That would have to wait for now. It wasn't the time, not in the battlefield.

"The worst hasn't happened yet, and I don't think I can pull up a fight right now." Hence why her last request was for @Harper, for the tigress who clearly shared a bond and understood just as much as @Luthien and @Yugam did the severity of the situation, and of the transgressions Szofrit did upon them.

"Will you three be oka-" A groan forced her to bite her tongue down, as her wounds demanded her attention once more, gritting teeth gave wake to more of that fury. Luth would have noticed how quickly it died off near the magia, and how it also returned to bring her the strength she bled out.

The King in Gold was occupied with buffing the damage dealers with his Ruler's Decree as they ripped their way Forward when @Ueno Mizuki announced her presence with her Primal Aura. He returned her weighty intensity with his own, ounce for ounce.

@Ilusa Nakhalee should have been there to listen in on their conversation.

You must be joking. Have you not seen the destruction in Astorea? Landers and UI-locked burned.

You should never be careless with a beast that's been backed into a corner. Szofrit is dangerous. You're going to put everyone's lives in danger by being so reckless.

"Let's not kid ourselves Fiora. Even if she tries to pretend it didn't happen, those who she hurt will remind her. What we can do is help her through it all, but she still has a lot of bridges to rebuild. That goes for the Magia in general, really."

Though her message was somber, a smile was on her face as she put her hands behind her head, her tail swinging from side to side.

"I'm sure she'll manage though. Girl is much stronger than she looks, figuratively and literally, hahah- Ow ow ow!"

Harper brought a hand to her wounds, shaking her head. Ronja really made sure to get them good before going out, huh?

"R-right, shouldn't be laughing with holes on my torso. Yo @Luthien , mind me helping me out here? I heal your holes, you heal mines and we all get our hands washed before going back into the fire."

"Good to see you made it all in one piece as well, Mizuki."

Addressing his old friend, @Ueno Mizuki trying his best to not smile too wide with sheer excitement. Another thought crossed the man's mind.

"Do you know anything about this? I know we're fighting the Magia here, but - is that it? Destroy them all and go home the conquering heroes?"

It was a surprise when not only @Attia Patal went for his aid, but @Elizabeth Lixshine also stepped in, giving him the energy and support necessary to continue.

"Orders taken, doc-" He smiled gratefully to her. "You too, save many more, we will need you a lot... Especially when shit goes down." Hanno gave her a pat on her shoulder.

His eyes then turned as he heard @Vina Skysong's voice, and her offer for help was taken happily.

"We are all gonna need some help. And the same goes to ya, if you need a shield, you know where to find." Hanno smirked, giving a playful salute before darting off.

Whether Attia or anyone else nearby would follow, Hanno would rush to the front line, seeking to find Levi (@Raid Boss).

"Commander," He greeted. "I know we are in a rush, but I must talk to you..." Hanno didn't halt him, following his steps and trying to keep up the pace. "Remember that group in Camp Hope? And that pink haired lady..? You may know it, but me and her, along with others were fighting against that one Magia in the palace, that helped to invade the camp... and..." Hanno tried to speak as briefly as possible about the encounter with Trinity in the blank space, and about Rael's message.

"... I know it is complicated. I know we can't afford to... Just not fight. This world is just like that." Hanno said, frowning his lips. "And I know there is a general sentiment of bringing her down, for those that died... I want justice too, but justice on the real threat and reason all of this is happening." He scowled.

"And she knows something we don't, even in her corrupted state. And if she dies, we will never know what is it. What is it that they are fighting? What they are trying to defeat? We couldn't get answers from Eve, and Szofrit may be the last chance to get it."

It was hardly surprising that @Astor wouldn't be so easily cowed, or that he'd be loathe to even consider Mizuki's words. However, the luna wolf couldn't just say she tried and leave it at that.

I'm aware of the risks. Szofrit is a symptom of a bigger problem, one that won't go away if she dies.

Culling the sick doesn't save the pack if you don't know how they fell ill. We'll have to defeat Szofrit anyway, but if we take her alive we have a chance of dealing with the bigger problem. If we kill her that chance dies as well.

She got the impression that Astor felt like slaying Szofrit was the only way to resolve the current threat, so the best she could do was try to convince him that the real danger was bigger than just these magia, and that Szofrit's survival was a necessity.

@Raid Boss

Likewise. You look healthier than before.

Mizuki didn't share @Zelrius's excitement, her expression grim as they fought their way through the magia. Every attack she made was non-lethal, although she pulled back when her red-haired man commented on the situation.

Killing them all would be the easiest option, but it's not that simple. We have to capture the leader, Szofrit, alive, because something corrupted her and we need to find out what.

She wasn't certain whether Zelrius would accept such an explanation, but she wasn't aware of any grudges he might have against the magia so it was worth a shot.

Me and a couple of others are trying to convince as many people as possible to help us capture Szofrit, but we don't have enough time to get everyone on board with the plan, and many here aren't likely to listen. Are you willing to help us even if it means risking your life?

Those who really wanted Szofrit dead weren't going to take their attempts at keeping her alive kindly, after all...

"Szofrit alive?"

He started , processing what the wolfgirl was trying to say to him. Remembering that Trinity had gone on about something similar once they were in the depths of the Matrix.

His thoughts spiraled from there. Having heard about the battle at Camp Hope while he was prancing around Vintergard. What Dayeon had said at that cafe. She was well within her right to seek revenge. Moonsong had lost a lot. Now he was supposed to hold her back, because some others don't have the stomach for machines falling to the ground? ...Where was Moonsong now, even? He didn't see her coming in. He hadn't seen her since the breakfast table at Camp Hope, Months ago. She had to live close to the Cafe, right? She said she had walked there. Markus would have to go find her, after this was all said and done.

"How important is this? Who is in on it?"

It was difficult for the Pyromancer to act on such little information. Especially if it mean defending their enemy against other Starcalled. Only to realize, he was questioning the judgement of a friend. Of someone who he trusted, and admired. He needed to just get onboard with the plan - not over complicate things for her and whoever else was in on it. Not be a liability.

"I will see what I can do."

He resolved to the grey wolf. He owed her the benefit of the doubt, and to not be an unreliable loose end.

End her. All of you, end her. For Ronja, and for me. That is my last request.

You got it.

Yugam nodded to Fiora's request. He made no promises, but he would do his utmost to end Szofrit. Not for her though. At least, not entirely. The magia hadn't just hurt his friends. Wounded them physically. She'd taken away their agency. An unforgivable sin.

I just hope she thinks this is all a nightmare and it never happened...

Let's not kid ourselves Fiora. Even if she tries to pretend it didn't happen, those who she hurt will remind her. What we can do is help her through it all, but she still has a lot of bridges to rebuild. That goes for the Magia in general, really.

Yugam said nothing. Harper was right. Despite that fact, the beastfolk smiled.

I'm sure she'll manage though. Girl is much stronger than she looks, figuratively and literally, hahah- Ow ow ow! R-right, shouldn't be laughing with holes on my torso. Yo Luthien, mind me helping me out here?

The beastfolk and Luthien stepped away to mend each other's wounds, but Yugam remained for a moment, looking at Fiora and her beloved with a hard look.

Wait.

Yugam stepped closer. Hands reached up and grasped Fiora's head, thumbs pressed against the orbital bones of her mangled eye, a pool of blood on her face. Nothing where his crimson-cast reflection should have been.

This is gonna hurt.

The warning was followed by a searing

Nico slammed her hand against the table, standing back up with that same momentum as the pinkette close the gap between herself and her mother

"Stop... Stop. You didn't give a damn before. Why is it that now out of all the fucking times you act like you know what's best for me?"

Contempt bled out of her lips, a poison specially fabricated for the taller lady. She didn't back off an inch, as it was common between them, but Mother did nothing but stare her down. Unreadable, unexpressive. Nico hated that, and now more than ever it proved how little she cared, but that was a fact she proved time ago.

"I know you don't like me or anything I do because it's not the way -YOU- and dad do it. But just let me go. I don't want to hear about it. I'm meeting up with a friend and hopefully you won't ever see me again. Just what you wanted, right?"

pain that ran along her wounds. Flesh slowly knitted itself together, just enough to stop the bleeding.

Yugam growled, frustrated at his own condition. He reached into his coat with his left hand.

One more thing. I'll be wanting this back.

One of his revolvers. He pushed it into the elf's hand and closed her fingers around it. She wasn't trained, but in her condition, it would do better than swinging around a sword.

Now, take her home.

Mizuki could tell that @Zelrius was having trouble with the idea. Given that they were in the middle of a huge battle, almost a war, where Szofrit was the enemy general that hardly surprised her. Still, at least he was considering the idea, rather than dismissing her out of hand.

If our information is correct then it's very important. Whatever corrupted Szofrit could cause even bigger problems down the line, so we need to address it as quickly as possible.

Fortunately her friend declared that he'd help, even if it sounded like he was more doing it because he was asked than because he believed in it himself. While the implication was flattering, Mizuki would accept it as it was.

Thanks. There's a bunch of us involved, but I'm not sure you'd know any of them. I don't know any of their names either, but the idea came from a pink-haired elf.

"It’s finally over…"

Relief washed over her features as she watched the knightess lift the unconscious body of @Ronja into her arms, crimson eyes lingering on the tinkerer’s face. Much like Fiora the girl wished there was a way to sweep everything that had happened under a rug, and a part of her could only hope that the magia’s memory of the events was poor at best—though it was doubtful considering Ronja’s capabilities.

"It’ll be fine… Ronja’s a strong girl, and she has all of us too."

She was uncharacteristically silent when Fiora turned towards them with a last request, eyebrows furrowed in thought before a hand rose to rub the side of her temple. A part of her still felt like throwing up with every second spent in this place, but the thought of leaving never crossed her mind as she gazed out towards the main forces. @Rael was out there, she was sure of it, and Lúthien could only hope that @Ash Vargold was at her side.

"Mmm?" The familiar voice of Harper brought the girl out of her own thoughts, a light smile offered to the tigress as Lúthien nodded. "Yeah come here, let’s get you patched up before you start looking like swiss cheese."

Her eyes confirmed that Fiora was already getting the help she also needed as the hunter stepped closer to the knightess, her attention then focusing on the worse of Harper’s wounds as her palms gently rested over them. A soft hum echoed from her chords, the melody a medium that helped the elf guide the healing magic as it carefully mended torn flesh and nasty bruises.

"There, good as new~"

A comforting pat was delivered to the top of Harper’s head as the blonde joked with the tigress a bit, her voice steady and cheerful as the smile remained present on her lips… though it never seemed to reach her eyes.

Jin looked from @Zelrius to @Ueno Mizuki as their back and forth about the prospect of 'saving' the Magia Szofrit danced between them. The former's confusion, as well as the vehemence of King @Astor made the Bloodsworn well aware that a rift was forming; and perhaps a rift that already existed was simply growing deeper and wider at that. He bit back the wide grin that threatened to grow across his lips and spoke flatly.

"This is a more medieval world than modern, magic or no. There are no simple cures, and symptoms kill just as quickly as the disease itself. During the plague, they burned the bodies to protect the healthy, rather than giving them dignified burial. You may not like the method, but the needs of the many far outweigh the lives of a few."

Seeds of doubt. Distrust. Malice. The Caenis woman would not like it, and the King may be relieved to hear it; but someone like Zelrius? The question of nobility and the right thing would give him pause.

Tear them apart at the seams. Make them question their bonds. Give them something flimsy to unify over.

Then, watch it all burn.

"You can't save everyone. Try, and you won't save anyone. Think carefully about what you think you're going to achieve. Are you willing to stake more lives on a fairytale victory here?

But forget this madness- the enemy is at our doorstep. They're more than happy to kill us. A dog that becomes rabid will never be the creature you loved again. Try not to forget that."
