Yugam looked completely out of it for a moment. Despite having ample opportunity to get out of that on his own, something held him back and it weren't just more roots. But given what they know about their foe, that just seemed to be the case for all of them...
'Snap out of it, Yu. Moon's rampaging and someone's gotta cover her.'
Her voice echoed through @Yugam's mind at that instant. Truly the former ashen warrioress raged through the battlefield with magnitudes even the tree couldn't ignore, but that made her not just the main target, but the most exposed to a world of pain.
Yet distractions wouldn't keep her from the sneaky roots that squirmed near her boots, yet before they could even try to take a hold of the knightess, they were all torn apart by a scythe held by nothing more but pure magic, much like it's own design.
She made her way towards the main root, progressively growing faster and faster, her own steps soon took her off the ground and onto the plates she set with arcane as a means to gain the high ground in not such a different way as their last fight. It was enough to get her out of range from one of these thick roots at the very least. Yet she didn't expect a second in the slightest, her eyes growing wide as platforms and elf alike were slapped away against the floor, leaving blood tracing back at her from the first point of impact, and a small fracture over the ground aswell.
The bastard learned, it seemed, and it even managed to hit harder than she expected it to. Getting herself back to her feet didn't prove any easier, the pain prickled her senses awake at the very least if only to punish her for even remaining concious in the first place.
"Get rid of that fucking thing you two!"Fiora cried out, pointing a finger straight towards (Root 2), and just like a commander calling out an order, several arrows begun to rain from the sky atop the appendage, shattering on impact against that one singular root

Fuck, that's massive and quick.
The gigantic vine dragged itself on the ground, causing the entire area to shake as if an unstoppable train was coming towards the three of them. Moonsong quickly flew upwards with the help of her flying arcane swords to steer it away from the others. And she was right; the vine designated her as the target and shot toward her.
"Come."
Moonsong challenged the massive vine coming straight to her, swinging her greatsword downwards to split it in the middle. Instead, the one vine separated into multiple smaller ones, quickly enveloping and restraining all her limbs. "Fuck." She tried to break free with her raw power, but as the tree started to restrain her tighter, she was reminded of how helpless she was in the previous encounter with it.
Dayeon? Focus. Dayeon!
It was no use. Fear began to replace her anger, extinguishing the powerful aura the brunette was emanating seconds ago. No matter how loud her voice of her shouted, Moonsong can't stop herself from shivering and twitching in terror.
No, I must break free. Else I'll get-
The vine did not waste time and pulled Moonsong away from her comrades, slamming her straight into the barbed trunk of the black tree. Blood splattered from the back of her head onto the trunk due to the powerful impact, as her head slowly lost oxygen from how tight her neck was strangled.

The [EX] Eldritch Tree is an Oversized monster.
Every Cycle, it makes two of these Actions at random:
Abduction. It uses its roots to attempt to grapple and pull a random target (from any zone) to its zone unless taunted. The target must roll a DC 90 Fortitude or Reflex Save to avoid being grappled and pulled in, receiving 50 damage in the process.
Weakening Whipping. It whips randomly five times with its roots, targetting those on its zone or on adjacent zones, dealing 15 damage on each whipping. Each attack causes a -10 debuff on rolls during the Cycle. If there are no targets in its zone or adjacent, it attempts an Abduction action instead.
Eldritch Rage. It sweeps with its roots, striking everyone that are located in rows 1, 2, 3 and 4, dealing 40 damage and forcing everyone to make a DC 90 Fortitude Save to avoid being thrown Prone. If failed, the target will stay Immobilized until they spent 2 movements to stand up. (This Action cannot be taunted).
Summons from Beyond. It summons two Roots in random zones (Roll 2d5, taking the first roll to decide the row, and the second to decide the column, they cannot occupy the same zone as the [EX] Eldritch Tree and there can't be two in the same zone). The Roots have 200 HP and 100 SP, and they deal 10 damage to anyone that starts the Cycle in its zone or in adjacent zones. If the SP is dropped to zero, they only deal damage to those that starts the Cycle in its zone.
Coiling Grasp. It summons a root and attempts to grapple a random target. The target must make a DC 90 Reflex Save to avoid being grappled and crushed, receiving 20 damage immediately. On the following Cycles, the target may attempt a DC 90 Fortitude Save to free themselves from the grasp as a bonus action. While grappled, the target receives increasing damage at the end of the Cycle (20 in the first cycle, 40 in the second cycle, 60 in the third cycle...)

Yu could only feel the massive branch slam into his side, a sickening crack mingling in the air among the cacophonous sounds of battle. A sharp pain shot through the man's side as he went flying off to the side, tumbling through the dirt. Despite the unmitigated pain he felt in his side, or perhaps precisely because of the clarity it provided, the Hunter stopped his roll, skidding slightly as he came to a stop. The man pressed a hand against his side, the pain flaring up violently, causing him to cry out in pain. "Agh, fuck," the man hissed through clenched teeth.
'Yu, are you-' 'Ribs. Pretty sure that fucker just cracked some.' 'You guys gotta get out of here!' 'And just how do you suggest we do that!?'
Yu forced himself to get back to his feet, Unmei's blade glowing black once more as he slashed at the writhing root that had been harassing them since they'd stepped foot onto the Tree's domain. The black energy enveloped the thick root, and it's motions slowed as it withered black and died.
The man's eyes flicked up towards the Elder Tree once more, a new spray of red creating a crown of thorns around the pale figure pressed spread eagle against it's bark. "Moons-Agh!" A fierce pain shot through Yu's skull, a hand going up to clutch his head as he squeezed his eyes shut.
White walls, black floor. Low temperature and the smell of air freshener.
Too corporate for her taste.
"Are you listening, Miss Song?"
"Hm."
Sitting down in a comfy chair bought with her tears and sweat, the executive in front of her doesn't even know the slightest of how hard it was to maintain her cool facade. Instead, he kept talking about revenues, sales, and fame.
"So you know, another five years? We can do two world tours this time, or maybe throw in another one. Second photobooks for each member, and maybe finally we could slip into a sexier theme, heh. That one we had talked about before."
She wasn't having any of it, this place reeked of greed. Shouldn't have thrown it all away for a taste of fame. There was a choice; a piece of paper, on the table. All she needed to do was to sign it. But she had to think about herself, and her team members as their leader.
Dayeon chose to walk away, another one of her selfishness.
"Dayeon Song, I haven't finished talking!"
"But I have."
Outside, a woman was waiting; the person who shared the same roof for the entirety of five years. They never got close, but the girl was suffering as much as she was.
She had the power to end it. So she did.
The brunette put her hand on her groupmate's shoulder, muttering an apology to her. "Mianhae, Almira." She gazed at the purple eyes for a while before finally striding away, not looking back even once.
The roots and vines snaked around Moonsong's body, coiling around her wrists, her ankles, pulling her limbs so tightly the woman might've heard her joints popping, threatening to slip from their sockets. Like snakes, they seemed to aimlessly wander over her armor, as if not caring for it's existence, or hers even. Save for two.
The first, wound its way up the Knight's side, over her chest before coiling itself around the woman's neck, tighter, tighter, tighter, until she almost couldn't breathe. It's end hung at eye level, pointed at her, almost as if it were staring at her like the eyes of a snake, bobbing up and down. It didn't waver, even as second curled up around thigh until it finally poked between her legs.
Several short jabs were met with valiant resistance, the leather of Moonsong's leggings refusing entry or puncture. But the vine was not so easily discouraged. The tip split open, spreading wide like some alien maw as a familiar white mist spewed forth. The leather began to deteriorate, falling away, exposing the woman's nethers to the cold air that filled the Elder Tree's domain. Evidently excited at the progress, the vine began to writhe with greater speed and energy as it coiled back. In an instance, the vine shot forward, and Moonsong felt a sharp pain shoot through her body from her backside. In it's excitement the vine had missed it's mark by a margin large enough that it had invaded her body via her backdoor, though so zealous to assert the Elder Being's will it did not care. It pushed further and further into the woman's body until it could no longer, and then drew back before thrusting itself forward again and again and again.

This was a total clusterfuck of a predicament, a royal trainwreck of a scenario and one that Lúthien couldn’t look away from—much less escape—even if she had wanted to. The archer had raised her bow once more to take aim at the nearest root harassing them all, an annoyed "Tch!" leaving her lips when some of the smaller wriggling roots popping from the ground attempted to grasp onto her feet. She trampled on them angrily, her emotions fueled by the anger that Moonsong’s aura was radiating in the field, before suddenly freezing mid-stomp as a fresh wave of terror suddenly crashed into her mind.
"D-Dee…!?!" Crimson eyes instantly snapped towards the brunette as the vines coiled around the woman, effectively trapping Moonsong, before the tree hastily dragged the armored girl back towards itself. "Dee!!!"
Desperate cries left the younger elf at the sight, watching as the abomination forced the woman’s limbs to spread against her will, and the fear that continued to emanate from the woman only increased tenfold. She could feel the erratic beating of her heart within her chest, the blonde’s own hands trembling as the anxiety and dread that leaked from her unnie threatened to surface darker memories that Valeria had long since locked and shoved into the very depths of her mind.
Her voice rose a few decibels as the archer yelled in the direction of the eldritch tree, elven brows furrowing as the blonde could feel her eyes begin to water. What had once been a cloudy fog of confusion inside her mind had long since shifted into a whirlwind of raging emotions—fueled further by the chaos of feelings that her friends also added into the mix. It caused static to build up around the elf, the wind slowly picking up around the archer as a hand reached towards her quiver once more. The moment her fingers touched the first fletching a crackling sound fired through the available arrows, lighting arcing and bouncing from one to the next as their tips began to glow a bright bluish purple. The action went unnoticed by the blonde, her eyes focused on the tree and the vines holding onto Moonsong even as she began nocking the first one into her bowstring.
The first arrow released stabbed right onto the lowermost vine that was currently assaulting her friend, effectively embedding it against the dark bark of the tree before lightning crackled out of it like a taser. A second and a third soon joined the first, the metal tips easily splintering the wood before their charge also went off and weakened one of the vines tightly holding onto the brunette. A fourth, a fifth, a six… the volley of arrows continued, only shifting targets whenever the archer caught visual confirmation that the lightning discharges had successfully weakened the hold on Moonsong’s limbs that each of them currently held.
The battle carried on, but there were no signs of the tree giving up to their assault, pathetic against something that big. The odds were always against them, but that's when they all have to shine their brightest to push through, be it through heroism or hatred, they all had to find their way through.
Some like Moonsong found within their own molten core fueled by anger: One form of power that only needs to be unleashed. A smile turned upside down, melodious instruments exchanged for the roar of war machines, an otherwise faithful protector exchanged for crimson death. In an ocean of gasoline, someone made sparks and that is the result.
Some like Luthien in fear. Fear that leads not to defeat, nor despair. One that sets one to act against the dark, internal or external. Courage lies not in the absence of fear, but in how one finds their resolve and pushes on despite of it. It might be the birth of a relentless fury, of reckless heroism, or sheer instinct alone take hold of them. But whatever it is, it announces a thunderstorm with it.
Others have reasons unknown such as the Hunter and the knight, with goal that lie beyond anyone's understanding, and yet when adversity stands in the way of the people they protect, there is no more tact nor subtle approach. And their concern for others is precisely what sets them apart. One would use his own blood to patch the wounds of others, to ease their pain with his own. The other turns herself as a shield, in spite of how it can break, just to support his antics. Despite their differences, that one common goal links them together:
To protect.
Such is what fuels the elven knight to crush the roots summoned infront of her and pierce through with a thousand years worth of magic swords. Despite how they now immobilized her to the ground, she needs only her arms and screams to pull through against both pain and instability, all for her arms to bring forth an arcane bubble around Yugam to keep the man safe, while her right formed a shield to get ready for the next change of events.
It would take more than a bass-boosted voice reverbing across their heads to get them to stop now. The tree would need to put up work if it wished to break them, and even then their bodies would be the only thing it could ever hope to achieve. Minds like these function in unison, and so long as hope remains lit like a torch within this god's realm

Moonsong reacted with disgust as the vine began to poke her leggings. There was no way she was going to let the tree try to do that thing again to her a second time. But nothing she could do as the the roots and vines entangling her limbs began to pull outwards, causing her pelvis and shoulder joints to pop. To make matters worse, the leading vine shot out the damned mist again, exposing her underside as the leather leggings dissolved.
Terror came as she realized what was coming next, and this time there wasn't anyone in range to save her.
"No-not there, please—"
It was useless, no voice came out of her as the coil around her neck tightened even stronger, threatening to break her neck.
Dayeon, concentrate. I can't help if you don't focus.
The woman was completely filled with fear. Her pupils dilated, tears running while looking at her comrades desperately.
"—Please."
The vine forcefully entered her from an entrance she expected the least, causing Moonsong to let out a breathless gasp. Every muscle inside her body tensed as the apparatus tore and stretched the orifice open, continuing into the depth she thought wasn't possible. The pain was extremely excruciating that the brunette wished she was dead instead.
No scream came out. There was no air left inside her lung to escape. As the appendage struggled to continue further, it instead began to pull back and thrust inside again repeatedly, coating its black texture with blood more and more with every ramming. She couldn't bear the pain anymore, and soon, the despair and feeling of helplessly dying without dignity had overtaken her.
The songstress stopped putting up any kind of fight and submitted to her fate. Massive pain inside her slowly subsided, as her mind began to gradually clear itself from any thought. Her senses numbed, replaced by a soothing sensation that reminded her of the flower. The rough ravaging from the vine did not even feel painful anymore.
Dayeon? Pull yourself together! Dayeon?!
Fuck, I'm taking over. Sorry, go sleep for a while.
The bindings on her limbs weakened thanks to the volley @Luthien provided. Moonsong took this opportunity and expelled a strong force of gravity, fending off all the roots and vines all around her. Using a sudden burst of gravitational power, the songstress pulled herself into a high-speed flight straight toward where Fiora and Yugam were.

Yu clutched his head as he fought back the cloying voices and visions in his head, the memories drawn from the experiences of the real world. Vines began to wind their way up Yu's legs, intent on trapping him in place. As the vines squeezed, their thorns pierced the fabric of Yu's pants, biting into his leg. He focused on the sharp pinpricks of pain as they came, grounded himself in their truth. If nothing else was real, at the very least that pain was. Game or not, chemical signals incited by technology or naturally occurring, pain was always real. Try as he might though, he could feel himself slipping, the call of blood and Elder influence too tempting.
With one hand, Yu grasped the vines at his legs, felt the warm blood leak from the punctures in his hand. It flowed around the dark color of the vines, tinting them crimson.
1:37 AM, the alarm clock beside Ari's bed read. He stared at the green LEDs, even as they burned his retinas in the dark room. They seemed so clear to him, like they were the only things that had ever made sense in his entire world. It didn't matter if the clock was accurate. The time that it displayed was exactly what was supposed to be displayed. The green alarm clock numbers, the only thing that made sense.
"She-" the voice on the other side of the phone paused, interrupted by a choking sob. "She jumped off the bridge," the voice said. Mei had been missing for the past four days. Between her family and Ari, they'd papered the whole city, but in four days, they'd never heard a thing. And that whole time, Ari had this terrible fear in the back of his mind he refused to acknowledge. Three days later, and they'd pulled her body from the Delaware River, and Ari knew that sneaking suspicion had been right.
He wished it hadn't been.
"I...I'm so sorry Mrs. Jiang," Ari said stiffly, staring blankly at the clock.
1:38 AM.
'ARI!' Unmei's voice rang out in Yu's head, piercing straight through the fog of memory. 'I'm here.' 'Please. Look, they need your help.'
The man's eyes drifted upwards, Moonsong freeing herself from the tree and rocketing back towards him and Fiora, who cast a protective shield around him. Luthien, releasing arrow after arrow after arrow. His UI indicated they were losing HP faster than they could afford to.
'Do something.'
'...'
'I'll try.'
His grip on the tangle of vines tightened, purple mist rising from his skin as he stole whatever lifeforce they harbored. Slowly they began to wither, blacked and fall away. Stretching out a hand, the man cast a spell, the violet mist rising from his body flowing towards both Fiora and Moonsong, mending their bodies.
CRACK!
The sound of a whip splitting the air punctuated the searing pain that split Yugam's back, followed by a cloud of white powder exploding into the air. Four more cracks, striking Fiora and Moonsong, each blow sending more of the white pollen into the air, into their lungs, fogging their minds.
The massive vine from before rose one more, coiling backwards to strike at them again. It swept the earth, crashing through wood, root and player alike. Within their heads, a cacophony of voices chorused together, laughing, singing a discordant hymn of submission, of death.

She watched the brunette finally break free from the tree’s thorny shackles, the woman’s figure careening right towards the hunter and knightess with astronomical speed. However, whatever relief the blonde felt was drowned out quickly when the ground beneath their feet began to shake once more. "Fuck no, not again—!" Heightened senses could already surmise what was coming in their direction after experiencing it once, but the girl’s words were cut short as five whip-like brambles erupted near her friends.
One lashed out towards Yugam, and another towards the newly released Moonsong, but what worried the elf the most were the three vines that ganged up upon the knightess. With each whiplash endured the blonde could tell Fiora was weakening, her strength waning, and it caused the ranger to panic in turn.
Before any warnings could leave her lips the voice of the eldritch abomination resounded loudly inside their minds once more, causing the archer to grit her teeth even as she felt a pounding headache threatening to overtake her. The massive vine she’d sensed rolling underneath the soil had finally emerged again, wildly sweeping through the space and carelessly crashing onto anything that was dumb enough to stand in it’s way.
"How about fuck you instead, you acornless bastard!"
Fueled by spite and instinct alone the ranger ran towards the incoming vine, aware that there was nowhere she could hide, before Lúthien tried to vault over the incoming limb. Her hands found purchase on the massive surface, ignoring the pain of the multitude of small thorns that covered its bark and threatened to puncture through her gloves, as she managed to clear the incoming obstacle. Landing had been an entirely different matter however, her elven ass ungracefully rolling through the floor of whatever plane this elder god had pulled them all into, before the ranger hastily got back onto her feet to prevent any of the roots from grasping onto her lithe frame.
"Fuuuck…!"
An expletive decided to catch a ride as a pained breath left her lips, the elf groaning as her body ached and protested. Battered and wounded as she was, it only took the blonde one glance towards the trio not far from her to realize they were in equal—if not worse—shape than herself. For a moment her eyes had fixated on the fallen and limp shape of Fiora, her mind fearing the worst, before the elf watched as the taller woman’s body finally twitched as she barely hung onto consciousness. They couldn’t keep up this pace, not if they expected to win, and so the archer turned to the one option she hoped could turn the tide.
With a click the bow lost its rigidness, folding onto itself as the elf shifted it back to it’s instrumental form with a final snap! that locked it in place. A hand reached for her quiver, pulling one of the custom arrows shaped to resemble the bow of a violin. A soft lavender glow began to concentrate around the instrument as the elf rested the left side of her face on its chinrest, the magic amplifying the sound when the hairs upon the arrow finally made contact with the strings just underneath the bridge of the violin.
The song that had echoed around them had been subconsciously chosen by the elf amidst the vast repertoire that Valeria knew by heart, the archer’s focus entirely on her tune and her friends as she allowed the notes to vibrate and come to life within this darkened and dreadful space. That same lavender hued glow would begin to envelop the girl as she played, the magic slowly healing and mending some of the wounds Lúthien had recently sustained, before her gaze focused on the downed armored elf.
Gloved digits easily danced across the fingerboard of the violin as her song continued, nailing every vibrato and quickly shifting through the notes as the melody rose in intensity. Softly the magic coalesced around the knightess then, the soft glow also mending a small part of the wounds she had sustained, before Lúthien’s eyes finally fell onto the hunter next. She could feel a lump form in her throat even as her chest tightened, the confusion and pain that she felt within still very much alive, before the ranger swallowed it all back down as she focused on the task at hand.
Whatever had happened was of no importance right now, not when he looked so close to death’s door, and instead the elf resorted to biting the inside of her cheek to regain her focus. The pain was welcomed for once, sharpening her mind once more as it shifted away from tumultuous thoughts, as the same lavender glow would encompass Yugam and heal some of his wounds before finally fading away with the last of the melody’s notes.
These were the last words that rang true on her ears, all her might poured into protecting the hunter, but to no avail the roots found purchase past these defenses, and her own...
The whip struck once, and her entire body crumbled to it's knees, yet her hands didn't let go of that channel, of that spell within the tip of her plated fingers, her own knees faltering as she cried and powered through the pain to get feet.
The whip struck twice, forcing her to acknowledge the despair on their situation. How Moonsong suffered a similar fate, and Yugam, who now struggled and fought against death, just like she was doing right now...
The whip struck thrice, and finally the knightess dropped flat against the ground, accomplishing just what it wanted: to force her to acknowledge her own mortality and succumb once and for all.
Bloodshot eyes just watched, at the very distance, as a certain woman of golden hairs ran in their direction, before the world turned black for her...
Baby blue eyes finally opened, drowsy. Unfocused. It took some time to adapt to the dark of her room. Was that a dream?
No. The wet on her cheeks, the dread that grasps her heart and chains it to the bed like an anchor slowly forcing her into the depths of the ocean. She didn't want to move, and the question rang true: Why even?
There's no reason to move, no reason to get out of bed. Just then she read an article about how painful drowning sounded like. Yet the few who survived told just how peaceful it is. Painful at first, and then you just let it consume you, let the water take over your lungs and just watch life fade away. The most beautiful of ways to pass away.
Maybe It's like drowning... The tears were proof of the first half of the process. She cried as something ruptured within her heart no less than six hours ago, and Eli still swims in her thoughts, still that wordless display that could have killed her just from depression- Perhaps that's what it's doing right now.
It's been ten minutes since she woke up, and it feels so peaceful. Sad, but unable to cry. Broken, but unable to scream. And yet despite how the pinkette subconciously knows how harmful it is, her mind agrees with it anyways.
She doesn't want it to stop. It shoudl just drown her and be over with it.
Brrrt! The phone rings, and her head turned to the side, the pale light of the screen illuminating the ceiling and finally her hollow visage once she begun to check who could it be. A part of her hoped Eli would explain himself and tell her how this is all a misunderstanding, how it's all a lie constructed by someone who hated him. Delusions were set aside once the sender had her features spring back from undeath, this time.
Someone sent her an audio..?
[ Luthien ]
2:57
Unconciously, Nico pressed play, and soon melodies begun to escape out of her phone, violin play like she never heard before started to deafen the room from it's muted noise of earlier. It reinvigorated the greys and blacks around her, and for a moment she could hear... She could feel it.
Badump, badump...
Her eyes went wide, and her body suddently jolted with strength that wasn't her own, Nico rushed towards the door and almost dropped face first out of the bed on the process as the entire world felt like a heartbeat, and sounded like one... With no time to waste, the woman shouted a voiceless cry once she shoulder-checked the door and only light followed.
Aswell as that melody which forced a gasp out of her lungs and pushed her back up. Lethargic, everything seemed to have lost sound as her body carried on lightning all across, cackling and pushing tense and bloodied muscles to move onwards, without a shred of hate, but neither joy nor sadness.
All her pointy ears could focus on was Luthien's sonata, yet her own limbs reacted accordingly when roots begun to chase after her ankles, skipping half of a second through chronomancy and jumping straight ahead with it, the knightess begun to phase through in her way towards Luthien.
A root came down, almost forcing her to lose balance as Fiora rolled across the ground and recovered momentum in an instant, the way she slowed only seemed to help her drag herself forward, skipping past Yugam and Moonsong likewise, as if they did not exist, save for the mote of raw arcane that wrapped itself around the ashen warrioress like a second skin to shield her against the next impact.
Yet that rush finally came to an end once she deaccelerated, crashing against the ground near Luthien. Reeling, gasping. Even breathing felt like a torture, and the migraine was something to get bitchy about. But her heart no longer fights against her.
"Not even letting me nap, Luth..."A tired groan escaped from her, the joke punctuated with a cough. Her face set to face the tree once she could get back on her feet. Fuck, existing hurts.
Compared to drowning in her bed, she couldn't ask for a better existence.

Crash landing and tumbling onto the ground, Moonsong quickly tried to get up and join Fiora and Yugam, clenching her backside tightly to numb the pain. Not even a second after they rendezvoused, the massive vine came bursting from the ground, whipping Yugam in the back, before doing the same with the knight and herself. She was pretty sure that the attack cracked her spine, almost causing the woman to collapse onto the white ground below.
The white pollen surrounded them, threatening to take over their mind again. Good thing Dayeon's asleep, her mind was too susceptible to mental torture. She was pretty surprised, a being as powerful as this tree was in Terrasphere all along, biding its time. Yeah, maybe dying wasn't a really great idea, after all.
"I'll pass." A confident voice came out from Moonsong's mouth, a pitch that was certainly not Dayeon's usual tone. She steadily got up, her cracked bones mended by the Yugam's Animancy. A true protector never gives up in the face of death. "Shield." The woman commanded, creating a perfectly spherical golden barrier around the elf knightess and the hunter that fended off the massive vine, forcing it back underground.
Whoever this god was, they will stop them.

The searing pain of the whipping vine at his back, and the soothing melody of Luthien's violin cleared the white fog that threatened to choke out all of Yugam's reason and clarity. Eye picked themselves up off the ground to settle on Fiora, herself rising as if resurrected from the dead. They were still here, still fighting.
No giving up.
No dying.
Once more Yugam pulled the life from the surrounding vines and tree, using it to feed himself, his magic, and mend the bodies of his friends. So long as the Hunter, the Pathfinder, the Puppet Crafter remained standing, they too would remain.
The Tree though, would protest this. The Tree did not care for the hunt, the path or the crafting of fleshy puppets. All it cared for was submission.
Behind the tree, a wall of lashing vines sprouted, intent on encircling the Travelers as more vines burst from the ground behind them. There was no escape for them, not from the large sweeping vine as it returned for a third time, relentless in it's quest to smear the ground with the Traveler's guts and gore.

A sigh of relief escaped elven lips as the girl watched her magic take hold of her friends and heal their wounds to an extent, a tired smile offered in the direction of Fiora as the elven woman began to hastily make her way towards Lúthien. "Oh thank Gwyndolainn, you’re alright—!" The words died in the blonde’s throat when she felt the familiar rumble underneath the ground, her eyes turning to the side just as the massive vine emerged once more.
The limb swept through the surface with unparalleled speed, and in a split second Lúthien already knew she wouldn’t have enough time to try and avoid it—or vault it. Instead the elf braced herself for impact, hoping beyond hope that she’d be able to endure it, before a pained cry left her lungs as the thorns on its surface dug deep into the exposed flesh on the archer’s arm. The collision caused the lithe elf to be knocked backwards as her body slammed onto the wriggling roots that covered the ground, rolling a few feet before coming to a standstill.
Why…? She could feel her consciousness fading in and out, the sounds all around her becoming distant and muffled as that godforsaken mental voice intruded into her thoughts once more. It hurts… Deep gashes marred the right arm of the girl, blood slowly dribbling from the wounds and onto the roots below. I’m so tired….
Coldness slowly began to creep under her skin, a faint shiver crossing the blonde’s spine before her eyes slowly began to close…the gaze unfocused as the elf was barely able to make out the blurred figures that were her friends in the distance.
. . .
”... Lúth…”
... Go away…
”… Lúth…”
So noisy… just let me rest…!
”LÚTH!!!”
Her body jolted upright as a spark jolted her heart into action once more, the rhythm accelerated as Fiora’s magic increased the healing capabilities of her body. A loud gasp left the ranger as her lungs filled up with air once more, her hand reaching up to her chest and clutching around the orange whistle unconsciously. It helped to ground the archer in the here and now as her eyesight returned, the worried face of the knightess the first thing Lúthien saw as the woman reached out a hand towards the elf. Her hand grasped Fiora’s own, a groan leaving her lips before the girl remembered to reach out for the violin laying beside her as she stood up with the knightess’ help.
"T-Thanks Fio… owe ya one."
One look at the others confirmed what Lúthien had feared, they were still very much battered and bruised all over, before the blonde stubbornly raised the instrument to her chin once more. Another arrow was pulled from her quiver, the one from earlier having been snapped and scattered to the winds, before the archer resumed her earlier tune—her attention focusing on herself, Fiora and Moonsong as the ranger allowed the curative magic work its small miracles and patch up some of their wounds.
They were still up, they were still standing… there was still hope.
-40 HP from Eldritch Rage +33 HP from Luthien's PH
There was a brief moment of joy, one so foolishly found on another's wellbeing. A temporary and fleeting emotion at that.
Fiora was the first to watch how these roots brutally assaulted the ranger, breaking body and spirit with it's might and forcing the violin-bow to drop for once ever since they had encountered this entity. Her eyes widened, at least the left. Her right could no longer open, blood dripped from above the eyelid and stingy pain pulsed whenever she tried to open it.
"LUUUUUUUTH!"Her voice beamed out, almost enough to kill her throat there and then as the archer finally ceased to move.
Get up... Please. Get up.
The clock was ticking, and the roots were reaching out for the fallen elf's legs. Swiftly dealt with once a razor-sharp blue axe chopped them in half and disappeared. Yet their target changed, and suddently her own were under assault, forced to trip and dragged back, further away from her friend. From the one she felt such a strange and powerful connection with. Right when she most needed her.
Desperation forced her to scream and wail, her arms coated by a protective layer of magic that ended out on an extra set of arms, their reach extended by attached blades used to cut through her aggressors.
"BECAUSE SHE'S MY FRIEND YOU SON OF A BITCH."Fiora kicked the last of the roots reaching after her, turning over her belly and rushing back on her feet with an unsteady rhythm, all until she fell on all fours near Luthien, dragging the woman closer to shake her by the shoulders.
"Come on Lúth... Don't drop on me like that."Fiora bit down on her own teeth and pressed her hand against the ranger's chest, and time begun to rewind itself. At first she hoped to turn the woman back entirely, but such a huge cost in EP had her cutting her attempts short once they failed.
"Please just get up Lúth. This ain't over, please..."
No matter how much these bottled emotions poured out, how her own heart cried and her hands tried, nothing seemed to work at first. She was losing options. She had to wake her up somehow from this suspended state, else her death would be in her hands.
Luth's blood would be on her own hands.
Soon she shifted positions, and a timeless rune begun to form itself atop where her heart would be. Instead of reversing the entirety of her. Instead, her focus went to her heart, closing her eyes to turn it back just a few moments earlier, enough to have been awake, and assist it via her own acceleration; Yeah, it might hurt, it might have drawbacks like fatigue, but right now she needed her back on her feet, pumping blood, adrenaline and arrows into that tree.
But most importantly, she wanted her friend back...
"LÚTH!!!"
And that had done it, the knightess stepped back a bit just to give some room to the freshly awakened elf. If only they weren't both beaten to a pulp, facing a life & death scenario and with trouble right around the corner, she might have just continued with her wish to hug her. To let her know she ain't alone on this one, and for Luthien to reassure her the same way with the life that poured out of her mouth right now, one airy breath at a time.
Instead, she helped her up with one hand, a grateful smile tried to hide the burst of emotions going on right now.
"T-Thanks Fio… owe ya one."
"Invite me over to a Wendy's and we'll call it even."
Another gigantic vine burst up high from the ground, slamming into them with the full weight of its body. The circular dome was certainly not enough to block an attack of that scale, causing it to explode.
Dodging the several next attacks, Moonsong finally noticed something strange; the ranger's assault on the tree have stopped. Looking to her left confirmed her fear; the ranger is down. The knight quickly dashed away to help the elf, but as soon as she tried to follow behind, a vine whipped her on the back of her head. The songstress fell on the ground, blood pouring from her crown.
Fuck.
Roots began circling around her, slithering around her limbs, slowly dismantling the parts of her armor one by one. She already knew what was coming; the tree was going to do those things again to her.
Not like this.
Not like this.
Burning up until the very core of her power, Moonsong expelled an aura shockwave that destroyed the roots around her, standing back up with her hair burning bright golden.
Why would she be here, if not to protect?
"Hey..." She muttered under her breath, slowly walking to his front almost zombie-like, a golden massive shield slowly forming. The protector looked behind, her beautiful face already covered in fresh blood still running down from her scalp, yet she reassured the man behind her that the next attack wouldn't go through. "... Stand behind me. I'll protect you."

The world became a blur of colors as Yu tumbled through air, head over heels, heels over head. The man didn't know the ceiling from the floor until he struck the ground and rolled to a stop facedown. "Fuck," the man muttered as he slowly rose to his hands and knees.
Yu's ears rang as his eyes rose from the dirt, looking around the cavern as he did so. All around them vines whipped and smacked at the ground around them, the earth rumbling with every blow. Somewhere in distance, Yu could hear Fiora shouting, though he couldn't quite make out what she was saying over the ringing din in his ears. The man searched for her among the writhing vines, eyes sweeping over the battle field.
"LUUUUUUUTH!"
Yu's eyes fell on the crumpled corpse lying on the ground, Fiora atop of her, hands glowing as she attempted to cast her magic in an attempt to revive the lifeless body. The blonde head of hair and blue garments were instantly recognizable. Her face looked serene, despite the frantic efforts of those around her. Like she was asleep.
"VAL!"
Yu's vision narrowed as his world crumbled around him, falling down into the deep black void until nothing was left except himself and her. Unreachable now. Time stopped, his heart seemingly ceased to beat, just like hers as he felt his skin grow cold. Something lanced it's way through his chest, leaving a gaping hole behind where his heart was supposed to be.
"No."
This couldn't be right. No way she died. Just unconscious. She was just unconscious.
"No."
She was going to get up. Fiora was reviving her. She was going to be okay.
"No."
Why wasn't she getting up? Why? Why? Why?
"... Stand behind me. I'll protect you."
Yu looked up at Moonsong, who seemed far different from before. Like she was something different. The world slowly came back into the focus. Fiora still at work, the vines trying to crush them. And the goddamn fucking tree responsible for it all.
Yu's blood ran cold as he stood, a cold fury washing over him as his eyes settled on the abomination.
"Just stay out of my fucking way," Yu said with a dark glare.
The tree shot another flurry of vines at the two frontliners, their barbed ends seeking them out like deadly predators. Yu responded in kind, rocketing forward towards the one responsible. Steel flashed as Unmei's blade carved a thin line into it's bark.
'Ari, slow down!'
Yu gave the pleading voice in his head no mind as he searched for a weak spot. Up there. Hopping from branch to branch, he climbed until he could slash at the raw black wood beneath the white veneer. A thick branch blocked his blade, slowly pouring gasoline on the fires of fury.
'Ari, please!'
Another opening, over there. Yu dove back down to the earth, blade poised to pierce a still root.
Pain shot through the man's side as another vine intercepted the man mid air, sending him crashing to the ground, tumbling painfully through the earth.

Yugam rushed forwards, jumping from branch to branch. The woman, with her wounds, had difficulties keeping up with him, resulting in the hunter getting swatted mid-air into the ground. She quickly positioned herself in front of him as a vine formed a drill, trying to pierce both of them with a single thrust. Using the summoned magical shield, Moonsong was able to absorb the frontal attack.
"You... can... try..."
Another vine sneaked from above, slithering around her neck before tightening, trying to lift her up from the ground. Instead, Moonsong used her gravity magic to amplify the gravity around her tenfold, making her impossible to be moved.
The tree boomed, impressed with the sudden change of power level the protector displayed, before sending more vines her way, reinforcing the main vine into a thicker one.
A snapping sound could be heard as the massive vine turned the songstress' head in a direction it shouldn't go. Her lifeless body quickly went limp, pair of still-open eyes facing backward to Yugam losing its golden glow. The black luster vine quickly retracted her body towards the front of the massive tree. The roots under its face opened, revealing a blood-red, mud-like soil underneath.
Moonsong's body was transferred into the scarlet pool, slowly sinking down as the tree seemed to enjoy the absorption process.

Location: A2 Movement: A2 > B2 +21 HP from Fiora's Power Heal +24 HP from Fiora's Power Heal
Lúthien had just risen back onto her feet with Fiora’s assistance, evoking her magical energy upon the three girls in the hopes of mending some of their injuries, when her ears had caught his words. "Just stay out of my fucking way." The harsh tone in his voice had caught the blonde by surprise, her gaze shifting away from Moonsong to focus on Yugam instead.
"Yug—?!"
His name caught in her throat as the elf suddenly felt a cold chill run up her spine, her senses suddenly overwhelmed by the cold rage that emanated from the hunter just before he rushed forth with Unmei in his hands—the sword spirit still on her jikdo form. A hand rose to her chest, grasping onto the orange whistle that dangled at chest level as the ranger felt an emptiness suddenly grip her heart, before the feeling was quickly washed away as Yugam’s anger took front and center as the man reached the tree. She watched as the sharp edge of the sword carved into the bark of the everwhite, but instead of separating from the eldritch creature the man pushed forth instead.
"Wait, Yu!" Panic rose to her voice then, the concern in her face easy to discern as Lúthien called out after the man. "Stop, come back! It’s dangerous to get so close—!"
She had watched him rush forth, his eyes solely focused on their enemy as the hunter seemed oblivious to everything else around him—at least until the vines of the abomination finally intercepted him, smacking him right back onto the ground. "Yuuu!!!" Without thinking the ranger quickly rushed forth, the boots struggling to get through the rough root covered ground before the blonde pushed forth. She could feel the rumbling underneath the earth, though not as terrible as before, but her mind ignored the roots that spawned off into the distance—her focus solely on getting closer to the hunter instead.
Moonsong reached him first, the woman parrying the incoming attack of a vine with her golden magical shield, and under better circumstances the elf might’ve been able to realize where she’d heard that voice before. Instead her eyes fell on a second vine that was sneaking towards the pair from the side, trying to flank the distracted tank and her charge. "Dee, look out—!" Luthien’s warning came too late as the limb suddenly shot forth and wrapped around the woman’s neck, and when the protector would not budge from her spot the voice of the eldritch beast boomed in their minds.
Additional vines shot forth then, wrapping along the initial vine and strengthening its hold, before a sickening crack! suddenly echoed inside Lúthien’s ears just as she witnessed Moonsong’s body suddenly go limp. "No…" Widened eyes watched with horror as the everwhite began to pull the woman away and towards its trunk, the reality of what the archer had just witnessed slowly sinking into her mind.
"No, no, nononooo!!!" The decibels in her voice rose as the blonde verbally protested this reality, her gaze ripped away from Yugam as those crimson eyes now focused on the open eyes in Moonsong’s face as the tree began to sink her body into a pool of blood located around the roots at the base of its trunk. Whatever worries and insecurities the archer had felt upon seeing the pair back in Lübeck or shortly before had now been forgotten, the bond and love that she felt for them both stronger than any doubt that had plagued her mind for most of the morning. "Give her back you fucking tree!"
"I said," As the voice began to echo inside their minds Lúthien was quick to reject it, a harsh glare tossed towards the face-like knot that she could now see upon the trunk of the everwhite even as electricity seemed to dance around the lithe frame of the archer in response to her anger. "Give. Dee. BACK!!!"
Each shouted word was followed by a sharp drop of the energy bar reflected at the corner of her HUD, magic etched onto each syllable as the elf willed their current reality to change at her whim. That same lavender glow covered the exposed parts of the woman’s body, the intensity increasing along with Lúthien’s voice before a jolt would suddenly strike the heart of the protector—just as the restorative nature of the archer’s magic finished repairing the damage to the neck that the eldritch tree had caused.
Things went south real quick. She had seen it coming, it wouldn't be long until Yugam snapped and decided to go all out on the tree. It just didn't occur to her, fogged by desperation to bring back Luthien to life.
Just when Luthien's voice turned into panic and the ranger rushed in, did Fiora finally snap out of critical thinking, they needed to find a gap, an opening to catch it off balance with and strike true. It didn't come, and Yugam decided to make his own with ferocity and wrath unmatched.
"Yuuu!!!" "Wait Luth don't!" It's too late, and the blonde is too fast for her outstretched arm that failed to take hold of her, and instead set pursuit right next to her, clearing out the path whenever a root got too close, reaping through with clean cuts that not even the thickest of these little spawnlings could stop. Just like neither could they stop the pair. Tremors or not, they had one goal in mind.
Moonsong found it done when neither of them couldn't by mere distance, and it proved enough that some relief eased her heart-
-Yet not enough. Not to beat an entity of this size with it... Despite the defiance shown by Moon, death found her all the same, announced by a loud snap, and the cry of despair that echoed through Luthien's voice.
She wanted to shout, but her throat had long closed to it's own soreness, lips spread to voiceless words, yet her face showcased the pain all the same, the need to interfere. Yet she's took weak right now, and all there's left is hate.
Even her body didn't get any rest, simply dragged in as if to consume and discard. She's completely certain this isn't her last life left, and yet it all felt too real to her, no matter how hard she tries to hammer it down that she can come back, just watching a corpse dragged unceremoniously into a pit of blood...
"Give. Dee. BACK!!!"
It's good that Luthien is here to be the voice of vengeance she couldn't be right now. To shake the foundations of reality with her voice alone and make the earth rumble the way it did. Even as bulky as she can be, armor and all, that was enough to get her to drop on one knee to catch herself from falling, and when everything begun to quake with the one jolt of power that dropped across Moon, Fiora's right hand overloaded itself in magic and made one swipe across the air, a cut that set the whole world blue and the clock's arms to slow down to a crawl, until nothing could move at all for a mere second.
It's all she needed to twist back reality, not enough to reach Moonsong herself, but enough to reset former causalities. It would be as if neither of them had taken a hit just now, with only leftovers she couldn't get to.
No cause, no effect, time would resume as if nothing had happened, and the three of them would feel less of a sting when they try to take a mouthful of air back in. Except for herself, the pressure had grown unbearable, enough to leave her head hanging low and a hand tightly digging into her chestplate, where her heart would be.
[EX] Eldritch Tree is located on (3,2) C2 tile. It may be attacked from any adjacent zone in which it is located. Extension allows it to be attacked from two zones away.
Moving in and out of the [EX] Eldritch Tree and its adjacent tiles cost the 2 movement.
When starting the cycle in an adjacent zone to the [EX] Eldritch Tree, you must pass a DC 70 Reflex Save to avoid becoming immobile for the Cycle, and if you end your cycle in it, you receive 15 damage (Unaffected by modifiers).
When starting a cycle in the [EX] Eldritch Tree zone, you must pass a DC 90 Will Save to avoid becoming immobile and unable to act for the Cycle, and if you end your cycle in it, you receive 40 damage (Unaffected by modifiers).
It whips randomly five times with its roots, targeting those on its zone or on adjacent zones, dealing 15 damage on each whipping.
Call. It makes a foreign call in the depths of one random target. They must pass a DC 90 Will Save to avoid becoming Confused. While Confused, there is a 50% of chance of the target attacking the closest ally (deciding randomly on a tie) with a Standard Attack. (The result of the attack is divided by 5 for PvP balancing purposes). On the following Cycles, the target may attempt a DC 90 Fortitude Save to free themselves from the Confusion.
The [EX] Eldritch Tree also has Protected status against HP damage until its SP is dropped to zero. SP damage occurs as normal.
The DC to taunt the [EX] Eldritch Tree is 250 (Using Playtest Rules). The successful Taunter receives 20 damage at the end of the [EX] Eldritch Tree's Action.
Yu crashed to the ground in a crumbled, pained, heap. If there were any bones in his body that weren't broken before, they were now. But still, the man stood on shaky legs, and aching feet. The cry of his name earlier drew the man's gaze, and relief flooded over him. Luthien's blonde head of hair, as she began to glow.
Imperceptibly, the ground beneath Yu's feet began to glow, expanding to encompass both Luthien and Fiora in it's radius. Wounds mended, flesh stitched itself back together, sealing itself as magic poured out of the man's body.
Looking up towards Moonsong's twisted corpse, her neck turned around at an impossible angle, before slowly fixing itself as Luthien's magic did it's work. Sickening cracks filling the air as bones adjusted and set themselves. Desperate lungs drew a desperate breath as Moonsong came back to life, another sense of relief washing over the man.
Yu could see the woman struggle to free herself from the black mire of the tar-like substance the tree was producing. One arm, another. Waist free, she was almost out when Moonsong's eyes went wide. "Fuck."
In a single instant she was gone, sucked beneath the black murky surface. "Moonsong!"
The name was lost as the world went silent, not even the writhing of the vines audible over the din of silence, before an explosion ripped through the air, the Tree's body distending impossibly, almost cartoonish as a beacon of light blew through the pool in the Tree's chest.
Gone.
The Tree did not give the three remaining Starcalled any time to recover from their shock or grief. As it's arboreal body recovered it's former shape, three vines exploded from it's sides, shooting towards Fiora, aiming to wrap around her arms and waist and pull her into the gaping whole where the mire of black had once been, now little more than a hollow hole, glowing red within.
Another vine whipped around the field for another attack, it's club like length slamming into anyone and everyone it's way. The vine collided with Yu's body, sending him flying through the, his body crumpling into a misshapen heap as it tumbled onto the ground and skidding to a stop at Luthien's feet. His arms and legs bent in places where they shouldn't have, his head sitting on his neck at an awkward angle. But the thing that stood out the most, the blank, sightless eyes.

Luthien's energy pierced Moonsong's core, causing her dead heart to start beating again. The broken neck slowly fixed itself, turning back into the front, and her eyes finally opened, gasping for air as the vines kept dragging her towards the living soil on the tree's body.
Meanwhile, two women were bickering inside Dayeon's safe space, the infinite cosmos. The brunette just got up from her bed and looked very angry. "I told you not to put me to sleep like that." The other woman just scratched the back of her head while apologizing."Sorry, you were too fucked up to listen. Anyway, we're revived, I'm going back to—"
Suddenly, the blonde's armored arm began to turn to dust, floating in zero gravity. "What's happening?!" Dayeon panicked while the woman in front of her calmly assessed the situation as if it was nothing."I'm being... absorbed. Looks like I was too obvious with my power. Not a bad thing, actually. Once it's done the tree should spew you out, then you can go back to kick its ass."
"Like there's a chance I'm letting you be taken away from me." She protested the heroine's decision, which earned her a dry smile. "I'm not even your friend, Dayeon. I'm just a memory of a dead stranger."
"Not to me. You're someone important to me; a part of myself." The woman looked around the galaxy, trying to think of something. Something that might save them both. After scanning all the stars around her, the brunette used her hand to reach, turning all the stars into energy coming back into her. "And all of this is my power from the start, anyway. So..."
"Wait! Don't do that! DAYEON! You stupid fu—"
She flicked her finger, sending the blonde away a few feet backward. Quickly, Dayeon clapped her palms together, slowly separating them as a small, red core began to expand between her hands. Not a newborn, but a dying star, ready to end a whole galaxy.
"...See you in a bit, Freya."
It was not too late. Even though she's currently inside the tree, it wasn't able to fully process Moonsong's hidden powers yet. She smiled before cracks appeared on her porcelain skin, revealing the light of the evening star inside.
The blast was enough to put a hole in its body. The everwhite roared, unable to regenerate quick enough.
