Rokishire DINNER RUSH [Cycle 9]

LITTLE DOGGO’s strategy in the kitchen has paid off as she and Kyra manage to produce fourteen main dish plates for the hungry patrons outside of their kitchen. They’re simple, convenient, but the flavor is still good enough—not that some of their customers will notice after their second cup of ale on an empty stomach.

The drinks have been flowing thanks to the efforts of Ruby and Azykia, but with each filled cup of ale and mead the barrel keeps getting lighter and lighter… and even the pitchers of wine are beginning to run dangerously low. Vina’s performance has certainly gathered more attention than the whispered tales of Karlirah, their cries and cheers loud enough to even be lightly heard in the cellar where Moonsong is currently taking a moment for herself.

Before long the face of the woman seems to be gone from the gathered crowd on the floor, though if she has simply abandoned the tavern altogether or has moved somewhere else within it is hard to tell. Over at the counter patrons keep trying to grab the attention of someone, anyone at this point really, as they seek for a place where they can lie down to rest… or simply get to know their newfound companions better in a quieter and private space.

DINNER RUSH

Late dinner rush is still in full swing, with the residents of Hovelis eager to get a good bite to eat and some soothing entertainment to end their day ona high note—while incoming travelers brought to town by the Harvest Moon celebrations are eager to get a sample of what it's like to be a Hovelisian now that the sun has finally set and the night has begun. No matter where you look there's always a need to be found, and their owners wish to have them met to excellence.

Those needs and the work needed will henceforth be represented by HP. Their growing frenzy and discontentment will be represented by SP. SP will count up every cycle, the higher it gets, the more difficult it may be to perform necessary tasks.

❰ 164 / 999 ❱
❰ 1046 / 2000 ❱

Rooms can now be filled and used as a way to passively deal "DMG" every single turn to the frenzy of Dinner Rush, and also keep patrons away from the crowded floor. Be weary however, this allows patrons the time to rest and they may come back with an increased lust for drink and song...
  • 1/2 Falder Rooms
  • 2/3 Staround Suites
  • 2/5 Hovelis Rest
  • 6/10 A Bed

Main Courses and Ingredients can now be used to add modifiers to the cooking rolls for the purpose of dealing with either HP, restoring EN to allies, reducing SP, or creative effects. This can be done through a Bonus Action, in increments of 5 (Main Course), 10 (Secondary) or 15 (Ingredients) used to gain x1 Stack of the ❰ SERVICE ❱ Buff. (+5/+3/+1 per stack on the action).

Main dishes can now be used as modifiers for ATTACK rolls made.
There are currently FOURTEEN Main Dishes prepared...

Meanwhile things are busy over in the kitchen, though the provided entertainment has taken some of the heat and pressure from the patrons lingering by the kitchen doors as their focus is now on the stage.
  • 160/300 Main Course
  • 165/300 Secondary
  • 57/200 Ingredients

Things are still quite busy over at the counter, and while more drinks have been dispensed (hmm those barrels feeling awfully light now on those last pours...) for the patrons many still linger about the counter as they wait to rent a room—hopeful for a discount as their fingers tap impatiently agains the counter. Judging by the look on their faces it will take some convincing to upgrade them into the pricier rooms...
  • 8/25 Wine
  • 15/50 Ale
  • 25/100 Mead

The floor is currently full, with patrons lingering long after they've completed their meals to enjoy the display that Vina has to offer. It seems that, for the time being, Karlirah's discord attempts have been twarted, and the woman has seemingly disappeared from the sea of faces... Meanwhile the current mood of the tavern is cheerful, the show and song doing wonders to entertain the many patrons within and help them relax after a long and arduous day.

The stage is currently in use by Vina...

Cycle 9 - Floor
-5 to move to the Floor
-?? For guiding people to their rooms

With dinner rush coming through, a new wave of people needing rooms appeared as well. In fact, especially at this time, where they were eager to have a place to sleep just as soon as all the partying was done.

Having this in mind, and seeing the lack of people on the floor now that @Vina Skysong was back to her performance, Ruby shifted her gaze to @Azykia, giving the younger girl a gentle ruffle on her hair, releasing a Primal Aura that warned her she would go help somewhere else for now, but she could call her if needed.

Getting out to seek the customers that needed a room, Ruby was a bit puzzled at first, before she finally met one that needed some guidance and calmly tried to redirect them to the upstairs.

Cycle 9: Back Serving
-28 EN from Serving 14 Main Dishes

Not fully rested, but Moonsong was already eager to kick a certain Karen's ass out of the tavern. So imagine her disappointment when the songstress came back up to the floor to find the particular woman missing from the sight of the busy tavern. "Shame," she protested, before going back to the kitchen.

Arriving at the kitchen, she thanked @Little Birb and @Kyra Vashtana for their hard work. "Whoa, that's a lot of food. Hold out a little longer here, alright? We got this." After that word of encouragement, she went out of the kitchen holding all fourteen plates like the gigachadette she was.

Going out to the busy floor, she evaded the oncoming traffic of hungry patrons with the last energy she have. "MAIN DISHES COMING!"

Cycle 9: Performance
-10 EN from Performance
+30 Service (1 Charge)

As Vina danced and sang she was glad to see that her efforts were paying off. Their efforts, as her friends were also doing everything they could to keep the inn running through what must have been one of the busiest dinner rushes this establishment had ever seen. The customers were still lively, but through the power of food, alcohol, and entertainment they'd managed to get everyone in a good mood.

That said, the songstress could also tell that she was beginning to reach her limits. They'd started working here in the afternoon, and it was already deep in the evening by this point. Playing song after song, especially with her moving about to make sure she had the attention of the audience, could be considered an extensive workout even if no weights were involved. Her pointy fox ears weren't as perked up as before, and in the many warm lights that illuminated the common room she wouldn't be able to hide the fact that her exposed skin was glimmering with sweat.

Still, the performance wasn't done yet. The people weren't as rowdy as before, but they still wanted to be entertained as they finished up their meals and spent time with one another. Vina's azure eyes glanced towards Ruby as her friend got to work guiding the tired patrons to their rooms, a smile adorning her lips before she pulled a violin out of thin air.

She'd take a break soon, but not yet.

Taking a couple of minutes to catch her breath Vina watched as Moonsong showed up once more, handing out even more meals than before. At least nobody would be able to say that they didn't do their best to feed everyone who came here: she'd have to thank Birb and Kyra for their hard work once they were no longer on the clock. As warm and sweltering as it might feel inside the common room, the kitchen must be even more stifling.

Once she was confident that she could finish a song without having to take a break Vina got her violin in position and resumed performing, like before using her magic to augment her music. Her footsteps were the drums and her violin echoed as the vixen got to work providing an upbeat atmosphere.

However, those who paid attention would also be able to see that she wasn't moving as much as before, focusing more on playing her instrument. Her eyes were closed, and each breath was deliberate to the rhythm of her own music, trying to conserve her energy as best as she could so she wouldn't run out of steam before the end.

Cycle 9: Kitchen
Energy:-3 EN for Secondary Dishes

The rush had begun in earnest, with the madness of simplicity overtaking the kitchen. Under Birb's guidance, Kyra found herself launching into action, the dishes completing faster than her mind could keep up with her own movements.

Time had somehow slowed, and sped up, and before Kyra knew what was happening she had begun to create her own dishes. Moving away from the simplistic main courses that Birb had been focused on, she took some time to create some basic secondary options, small sides that she had been making for years.

Just a little something...to go along the other options. To give a bit of...you know, option against the commonality...or whatever it is they say!

She smiled at her teacher, peeling the potatoes quickly with her small knife, before slicing them into the required pieces. The dishes themselves were simple, a combination of hasselback potatoes - baked with green onions and assorted spices - as well as mashed potatoes cakes, grilled on the stove top. Simple enough that even the fox girl knew she couldn't mess it up. One hopes...

We got this...I'm sure we're almost done! I mean how long can our shifts go on, right?

She was beginning to feel the weight of the work though. Her body protesting the continued push that she was giving, desiring nothing more than rest. Almost there...just a little bit longer! Just need to hold on until this rush is over!

 Cycle 9: BIRB? NO, DOGGO!
-10 EN From main dish creation

LIL' DOGGO!
Whose LIL' BIRB? Clearly a sussy imposter! @RizuChan

Pushing the sweat off her brows, LIL' DOGGO stumbled her way back to Kyra, taking a good sniff at these potatoes, but not before first getting a fork and knife to cut just enough to get a good look at the -inside- of them to check how well baked they were. Without a doubt Kyra was becoming a full time chef! DOGGO gave LIL' applauses to the fox. She graduated from LIL' DOGGO's Cooking academy!

You've outdone yourself, Chef Kyra. Variety is the spice of life, fits too if you wanna say that!

Puffing her chest out, swollen with pride, DOGGO gave her the thumbs up of approval and went over to prepare a new batch, something to compliment for a change, which should help them keep their focus too from mind-numbing food processing and basic dishes. Cooking is an art, and doing the same piece over and over again...

Well, Kyra's own comment said enough: they both felt the weight of their duties, even as she now prepared pasta, a light dish and she gave the pointers to follow up with raviolis, they both were reaching their limits.

Don't think about it or time takes notice and slows down!

She gasped, almost like it were a bad omen, but unfortuantely she's already been cursed to stare at the makeshift clock near the exit door, and gods did it not end, like, ever...

Now we do the bolognese sauce, and off it goes. @Moonsong should be back in a bit, hopefully in one piece!

Rokishire DINNER RUSH [Cycle 10]

A RESOUNDING SUCCESS. The music was loud, it kept people interested, dancing, and singing. Those who had begun to tire out were pliable, easy for Crimson Ruby to lead to their respective rooms, and extracting hefty payments for what was in low supply and high demand. Many made drunken comments about how they needed to come here more often; the food was fantastic, and all of the waiting staff was rather cute.

Those with loud voices and many complaints were shunned off - drowned out by the sheer activity of the dinner rush. They would just need to be content with what they had - not that there was anything truthfully to complain about. Requests came in for the music to become something quieter, more homely. To calm the nerves, to allow more conversation now that many had ate and drank, and would continue to drink until they had a headache. Though a good chunk of the patrons were already well passed that latter piece.

A sort of hold began to take over many of the patrons. There were still requests for food, for baths, for a little chit chat with the occassional worker. But most of those alert now had taken a single look outside the windows. Some sort of pale, faint golden light piercing in a pin point in the black October sky had caught some attention. Some rushed out of the door to get a better look.

What could it be?

11:00 PM

Dinner Rush has began to calm down, as Patrons lose the steam and party spirit to be able to keep up with the ever energetic @Vina Skysong - being guided to their rooms by @Crimson Ruby while @Kyra Vashtana and @Little Doggo continued to supply the exhausted @Lune with her necessary to serve dishes. Between the noise, the ignoring of her, and @Azykia playing host in a top tier way, KAREN huffed angrily, turning away, her voice little more than the mumblings of a pretend argument. Her complaints have been successfully DEFEATED

The Rooms are beginning to fill up, to the point where others are trying to get deals with those who have rooms and are willing to go so far as to sleep on the floor. There are even those who partied way too hard and are now passed out around The Floor. Sleeping at their tables, and over counters. Though many simply remain awake, though tired.
  • 0/2 Falder Rooms
  • 0/3 Staround Suites
  • 1/5 Hovelis Rest
  • 2/10 A Bed

There is low demand for the remaining main courses, but still those who are hungry. Afterall, before midnight, for some, the night is just beginning.

Main dishes can now be used as modifiers for ATTACK rolls made.
There are currently Nine Main Dishes prepared...

Drinks have been served, and there's still some left to go around. The floor is currently Jovial as the night begins to wind down. The food and alcohol in people's stomach slows them down. Some sleep, others chat quietly, still others try to make remarks at the serving staff, happy to compliment them on appearance or look.
  • 3/25 Wine
  • 5/50 Ale
  • 10/100 Mead

The floor is currently full, with patrons lingering long after they've completed their meals to enjoy the display that Vina has to offer. As well as sipping from nearly emptying cups, and always asking for more. It is difficult to navigate with the now slowing down movement of the floor; there are bodies EVERYWHERE to be seen. Many are awake, but are dug into their seats for the night. Some have begun to gather around the windows, and the outside door.

The stage is currently in use by Vina...

Cycle 10 - Floor
-5 to serve 8 dishes

With the Karen gone for good, Ruby sighed and shook her head, noticing @Lune being worn out after so much work in the rush.

Her gaze shifted to the counter, seeing @Azykia handling it well, and in the kitchen @Little Doggo and @Kyra Vashtana continued to work, leaving Ruby no reason to be concerned about it, since the violet vixen was working there.

With this in mind, only serving remained, with a pile of foods and orders just waiting to be delivered as she picked them up, nearing @Vina Skysong, who had just filled the tavern with her cheerful voice and song. "Vina, can you help me out? This will be a lot-" She smiled, swaying her tail as she quickly darted out, swiftly delivering as many dishes as she could, at the cost of most of her energy.

Rokishire (12:00 AM) [Cycle 11: THE END]

With @Crimson Ruby serving the last of the necessary meals; all of the needs of the patrons were currently met. Perhaps a few moments later, the door would open. The pudgy man swinging in, flanked on either side by a man and a girl in a tight barmaid's outfit each. "Special delivery!" He exclaimed loudly, with a laugh, as each of his assistant carried a container over their shoulders. One a cask, the other a massive box. He walked by, inspecting everything. The dirty floors and tables, the mass of bodies strewn about. The pile of gold both on the counter, and in the hands of those who served; @Crimson Ruby , @Kyra Vashtana @Lune and @Vina Skysong - before trudging past them and nearly fainting at the absolutely disasterous state that the kitchen was in. The now cold and stale spread for the workers still laid out, the opened boxes, and cracked open eggs. The full trash bins and half emptied condiments. "A fucking water hurricane come tearing through here?!" He asked loudly for @Little Doggo and @Kyra Vashtana to hear from. In fact, pretty much the entire Rokishire Inn was in such a state. He huffed, but couldn't keep it in for long. Letting out a breath and a small laugh. "I will specify the need for a cleaning crew for Wintersday, then." He chuckled, trying to alleviate some of the tension that he had caused.

The two bustled in, taking empty casks and rolling them away, soon joined by another two dressed the exact same outside. Beginning to resupply the Inn, while the pudgy owner had gathered up the income of the day, taking a look over the six girls who had just busted their ass all day to keep things running. He could see the exhaustion on the face of many, and in a way, became sheepish of that fact. Little by little, he counted out ten small sacks of coins, before leaning to whisper something to one of his other workers as they passed by. Soon, they returned from the Cellar, carrying a box full of yellow jars. One by one, the man used a cork press to seal the small, glass containers, and set them each with the pouches, pushing them forward to the blind @Azykia .

"This is payment for the day, plus some back rooms set aside for baths and blankets. You guys will need to bunk up together if you're staying the night, but, it's on the house."

SUMMARY

Your work here today was considered...

OUTSTANDING

Between the organization early, the manipulation of the mood through the music to drive sales and keep things where you wanted them. The way that two of you worked together to make sure that food was always being served, and customer needs were continually met. As well as the good memories put into the hearts of some through social interaction, and sweet-heart deals made by the counter and waitstaff. You managed to avoid confrontations and fights, keep people drunk and happy, and stop the building from burning down. It was a valiant effort by all six of you - truly.

@Little Doggo @Kyra Vashtana @Vina Skysong @Lune @Azykia @Crimson Ruby all recieve the following rewards:

8 Vesuvyan Gold to be spent in soon-to-be-opened Vesuvyan shops and services.
*Exchangeable for other qualifying currencies with other DMs. Ask specific DMs to be sure.
x2 Honey-Jars Consumables that can be drank as a bonus action in future threads to restore 50 HP, and 50 EN on the spot. They can also be used as ingredients to improve food items.
*may not be usable in other DM content, check with specific DMs to be sure.

My co-dm @RizuChan recieves half of the above rewards as a big thank you for helping out for multiple cycles, and keeping this place alive when I was dead. She may choose any of her characters to give it to, and I will add it to their Inventory.

A big round of applause to my CO-DM for being very generous to my players, and to me. I owe you a lot for helping out. And was very impressed with you DM'ing abilities.
@RizuChan

With that, each of your duties were done. One of the large men who came in pointed toward the door over his shoulder. "You should see the moon tonight, Boss. It's in full effect." The Pudgy man smiled, letting out an aristocratic, soft laugh and pointing toward it. "Go, enjoy the Harvest moon. It's beautiful out here in Hovelis."

For those who foolowed that advice, and headed outside, or peered through the windows. They'd be met with the cool, autumn air brushing against them, and the other patrons outside. With it, the red and golden autumn leaves would be nearly completely black - except for the yellow light that bathed them from on high. Instead of being illuminated by the twinkling stars, the sky would be nearly drowned out completely. The moon above, pretty as it was, told of coming harrowing. It was the hint that farmers would need to collect their crops before the cold winds rise. Telling of full pantries, and full stomachs. But, the cold, lonely sky that it sat in also told of a coming, suffocating winter. That soon, the nightmares of the dark would descend onto the happy villages. That - just as the crops did - many didn't have a choice in what fate had sown for them. Only choices that made the coming reaping that much more inevitable.
