Scythe Mastery ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ Spirit Magic ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ Aeromancy ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ Corrupt

The words were cold, but Kyra didn't get the impression that the Magia believed them - not to her core. Which, maybe she did, but Kyra hoped for more. Regardless, she knew that there was no point in arguing about it - some people were stuck in their ways, and so long as they weren't hurting anyone, well...who was she to try and change that?

So...what are you thinking of your creation here? Meets all expectations? Think we can inform the elders that we've created a possible solution to their conundrum, and then sit back and watch the entertainment as they try and figure it out, or argue over it?

She doubted there'd be much of either case, but couldn't help the jest. Her tail swayed behind her again, as if trying to tempt the Magia girl into its embrace again. She let the tip sway towards the girl's face, before pulling it backwards - an obvious movement that was very clearly not an accident, repeated a few times over.

Unless you have a few more modifications, or adjustments that you want to make to this thing...

She ran her hand along the edge of the cart, feeling the wood beneath. It still amazed her how the two worlds, one of an older and simpler time, came together with a world of technology and industrialisation. She wondered what it meant for the future of this world, a future that she was almost entirely sure wasn't pre-written by anyone, but rather growing and changing with every little interaction that occurred within it. Remember that detail, in everything you do...

The Magia girl didn't take much time to suddenly leap from the cart back onto the grass-covered ground in front of the golden field. She stared at the beauty a while longer before turning around, her synthetic golden eyes scanning the small wooden structure and the motor that made it all run when needed.

"Testing went smoothly. Nothing went wrong and operational status is nominal, all things considered. We could go to the elders now, or go back into the barn where I would construct more motors. But if you wish to use this one to showcase it, I don't mind."

This was all ultimately still Kyra's assignment, not MAI's. The magia just so happened to stumble across all of this and decided to help. But as she wasn't getting paid or anything, she wanted to leave all of the important decision on the one person who actually mattered here, even if she wasn't doing the main bulk of the work.

Kyra's left ear twitched as she considered the options. Heading into the barn to complete all the other motors was tempting - it would save them having to pick up after a possibly lengthy discussion...and yet, having it showcased before they did all the work, only to have it turned around and rejected, was more logical. Sighing, Kyra climbed down from the wagon - more carefully than her counterpart had done, before speaking her thoughts aloud.

We should probably showcase this piece, before we do all the work and get told they hate it...wouldn't want to make everything, for no reason in the end. At least one cart they can just ignore, or tear apart, or whatever if they really don't like it.

They better damn well like it with all the work MAI put into it. The voice inside her head snarled, and Kyra had to resist the urge to say it out loud. She understood the trouble they were walking in to, the older folks here were just that - older. They'd done things one way for so long, and they were reluctant to change what had worked. Had.

Think this one is ready to be shown off, or does it need any final touches? It looks perfect to me, but you're the expert here.

MAI waited for Kyra to get down onto the ground before nodding along. It was a good decision, she figured. Well, probably as good as any other in all honesty. What else were they really supposed to do here, being at the mercy of stubbornes.

"Got it. I don't think anything else needs to be added by me specifically. More machinery would just mean more unknown for them. Instead, we should attached the appropriate tool behind the wagon. We are already at the field so leading them here and showcasing it in action might convince them better."

Just seeing a modified cart sitting there would likely do little to sway them. But seeing it actually harvest the wheat as if it was a cart dragged along by a normal horse? Well, at least they would see that the thing actually works, if nothing else.

Right. That would make more sense. They probably wouldn't be able to imagine what it would do, without seeing it in action. Kyra's ears twitched as she realised she'd overlooked such a basic fact. She was glad that MAI had picked up on the issue, and already created a solution for it - proving once again that Kyra was well outside of her capabilities here.

Yeah, good point. I think I saw a few tiller's back in the barn...do we bring this thing back in? There looked pretty heavy, not like something we'd be able to simply pick up and carry out ourselves.

She glanced back at the barn, considering their options. The pieces were large - wider than the cart itself was - but Kyra was almost certain their purpose was to till the land, and they had contained connections that looked like they would be hooked up to the back of the cart as MAI had suggested.

Once we've got it all set up, I can go grab Nymmie and maybe a few of the others. Put you on the spot for demonstration techniques.

She gave a wink towards MAI, hoping the girl didn't get stage fright. Kyra figured it would be good for the Magia girl to display it all - she'd done all the work, after all.

The Magia closed her eyes for a brief moment and wondered if Kyra was a city girl in the reality outside of the game. Well, it didn't matter much anyway.

"Tillers are mostly made out of solid metal. Unless your masteries grant you exceptional physical strength, I can move this cart back while you go get everyone you deem necessary for this."

She wasn't looking to giving anyone a demonstration, but she doubted that Kyra would be someone to take charge of things if MAI refused. Her introvertness might have improved over the years, but that didn't mean it disappeared completely. With a sigh, the petite girl would start turning the whole cart around, at least able to see that this whole thing was nearing an end.

It had taken a while to find the elderly woman, and in turn round up the other elders who were willing to make their way to the fields for the display. Kyra had been worried they'd outright deny the situation when she'd first arrived at Nymmie's, but she was pleased to find that the woman - and a few others - had been more than willing to see the display.

Upon returning to the field, Kyra had taken but a brief moment to introduce MAI to the elders, many of whom had immediately seemed to back off slightly. She'd seen a look of fear in a couple eyes, and had leapt into the introduction to try and dissuade any immediate reservations.

She'd turned the display over to MAI relatively quickly, explaining to those gathered that the Magia-girl was the expert, and that she'd give a full demonstration in order to showcase their solution. Stepping back, Kyra calmly watched as MAI walked the group through the demonstration - her nervousness showing at first, before Kyra felt she gained more confidence.

It wasn't long before MAI was bringing the cart to life, showing the elderly folks how to operate it, and explaining the more intricate details - as well as reassuring the few whom asked that it wouldn't explode. Kyra smiled as the elderly folks seemed to find a bit of reassurance in the Magia's welcoming behaviour, and the calm way she explained any questions.

It wasn't long before the presentation had finished, and the elderly folk had pulled away to consider their options, and deliberate their ideas. Kyra slid up beside MAI, smiling as she went.

I do believe you blew them away...in a good way.

Before either could say anything else, the elders had returned. A few passed quick comments, before they provided their agreement to try out the idea. Kyra managed to convince them to call upon her - and in turn MAI - should they want more of the machines, if they came to enjoy its usage.

All in all...I'd say that was a big success. Thank you, for all your help...truly, you're amazing.

Kyra gave a big smile towards the Magia, before reaching over and pulling the smaller girl into a tight embrace, hoping to convey her appreciation. After a few seconds, she released the other, before taking a few steps away.

Hey...if you're ever in the area, hit me up. I'd love to see you again...
