The scream that had erupted from the thing, more of a benevolent shriek than anything worldly, had caused Kyra to shrink back. Hiding behind the shield, she had waited, knowing that the batter would continue, would worsen. Whatever her spirit magic had done it had...Wait...
It had gone quiet. And as Kyra peaked out of the side of the shield, risking everything to get a glance at what was going on, she found the creature retreating ever so slightly - its hands held upwards in what she could only call a defensive posture.
But...why would it run away...? The thought clued into her suddenly, and almost at the same time she felt herself straighten upwards, standing at her full height. The scythe swooped around behind her, and with a suddenly calm, steady tone, she spoke to Fiora while keeping her eyes on the creature.

It's afeared...the spirit magic...it causes it to...halt, or run...I'm not quite sure which...but we have a chance. We must take it. I'll...try holding it at bay. You try striking it.
She closed her eyes, summoning the spirit magic once more as she prepared herself for what she hoped wasn't a mistake. She had no idea if this thing would actually be effected like she thought it would, but there was no giving in now. We can do this...

I give to you willingly, that which I no longer desire...may it guide you from this life, to the one beyond...may it provide you peace in your path...may it hold true to that which is called...
She began her chant again, grinding her teeth against the pain as she did so. The moment that her spirit magic released, connecting to Fiora and then the creature beyond, Kyra knew she was right. The thing seemed to try and retreat further, as if pushed away by it. We can do this...

Deathly Grasp. Cold as death, Soulless is a burden to the very environment it exists within. At the beginning of each turn, make a Fortitude save against a DC 65. On a failure, take retal damage as though you were vulnerable, or double vulnerable (if already suffering from vulnerable state).
Emptiness. Soulless contains the eyes of the Abyss, which seem to peer into the very soul of the individual before it. At the end of one's turn, make a Will save against a DC 75. On a failure, on your next turn you are too afeared to attack Soulless, and may only support party members.
Grim Aether. Soulless survives in the aether between this world, and the next - a constant shifting etherealness surrounding it. Non-magical attacks (slash, pierce, crush) do half damage (rounded up to 1 LP). Attacks made by, or imbued with dark magics (Corrupt, Dark Magic, Hemomancy, etc.) are consumed by Soulless, providing it recovery instead of damage. Attacks made by, or imbued with light magic (spirit, divine, nature, etc.) strike the target as if it were vulnerable.
Death's Touch. Soulless is a creature from a place beyond the living. Actions meant to heal cause damage to Soulless instead. Non-critical heals strip Soulless of 1LP, while Critical heals strip it of 4LP. Regardless of the damage taken, Soulless is unable to retaliate on the follow turn, and players do not take retal damage on the next round of combat.
