-20 HP from Pressure

The pressure grew, becoming overwhelming to the Magia, who struggled against restraints and pain, shaking her head and gasping for air as she frowned, staring at Fiora and the aberration clashing in a fierce fight.

She wasn't going to stop.

Ronja struggled, widening her eyes while watching Fiora throwing herself in danger over and over, going even far to double-kick the monster in complete reckless abandon.
"FIORA!" She yelled, clenching her fists and struggling as hard as she could, trying to brute force her way out of her prison, but once again, to no avail.

Fiora wasn't going to stop. She wasn't going to run away.

The Magia tried to make her eyes flicker to shoot a magitech laser toward the monster, only for it to falter and dissipate midway. The dissonant flesh simply didn't allow her to use her abilities.

Fiora wasn't going to leave, she wasn't listening to Ronja.

Her eyes shifted to look at Fiora, just in time to see the monster roaring and widening its mouth before shooting its tongue to try and slap around the knightess, desiring to devour the elf.

Fiora was going to die there because of her!

Ronja's eyes teared up, and she screamed desperately- "PLEASE DON'T! PLEASE!" She called, struggling, and pulling herself as hard as she could, trying to rip the flesh, using every inch of enhanced strength her magia body had to offer.

A flickering glimpse of the faltering UI soon showed a message.

Real body..? Log out? Emergency?

Ronja had no time for this. Ronja struggled, Ronja cried, Ronja screamed at the top of her lungs, flailing and throwing everything she had to try and get free. She didn't want Fiora to die, she didn't want her to die... She didn't--

She still needed to apologize, she still needed to hug her, she still had a lot to tell her--

"FIORAAAAAAAAAA-!" She yelled, with a cracking voice as tears rolled down, and as her circuits began faltering with the pressure and her own effort to try to free herself... All this, along with the warnings.

Log out immediately.

Log out.

Sought Ones. When a Dissonant Seeker defeats a victim, it restrains them in their lair to start a process of metamorphosis. If the victim isn't freed in a day, they lose control of their body. If they aren't freed in a week, they fully transform into a Dissonant Seeker. If the Dissonant Seeker's SP is dropped to zero, the victims are freed.

The Dissonant Seeker does one of the four following actions, randomly against a random target:

1. Trampling - The Dissonant Seeker charges toward one target, dealing 30 damage and forcing the target to make a DC 85 Fortitude or Reflex Save. If they fail, they fall prone under the creature, and they are considered Vulnerable in the next Dissonant Seeker's Cycle. If the target uses a Vulnerability move, they become Ultra Vulnerable.

2. Dissonant Venom - The Dissonant Seeker's vipers reach for the target, biting them mercilessly with their Dissonant poison and dealing 20 damage. The target must make a DC 85 Fortitude Save to avoid becoming Poisoned for two cycles, receiving 15 damage at the beginning of each cycle (The Poisoned condition is unaffected by modifiers).

3. Echoes of Beyond - The Dissonant Seeker's lets out its out worldly shriek, echoing through the target's minds and trying to stagger them, dealing 15 damage. The target must make a DC 85 Will Save to avoid having all the rolls during the cycle be halved.

4. Tongue Hook - The Dissonant Seeker's tongue stretches out toward a target, seeking for them and slapping around the target to try and pull them into its mouth. It deals 25 damage, forcing the target to make a DC 85 Fortitude or Reflex Save to avoid being pulled into the Dissonant Seeker's jaws. At the beginning of every cycle, the target receives 10 damage, until they can succeed on the Save by using a bonus action.

If the Dissonant Seeker is taunted, the taunter must make a DC 85 Defensive Mastery Check to successfully taunt it. The Taunter is targetted and receives an extra 10 damage.

"Dammit. What's with this... Pressure." Blood coughed out, Fiora watched in disbelief. The creature hasn't done much and yet her defenses had been compromised already.

It wasn't good enough. She had to fight harder, and hard she did, her onslaught against the Seeker had a voice that chirped in every now and then. One she couldn't address, not without lowering her guard out of a sudden; She had to focus... She...

"FIORA!"

Ronja screamed to the top of her lungs, and once distanced from the beast, the knightess rushed towards the magia, as her priorities suddently shifted and ignored all the rest of the moaning victims that were half- digested? Fused? A gruesome fate that forced her to make haste, her right hand outstretched as she desperately tried to get there, to rip apart these bindings and free her up, damned be the rest as her heart and mind compels her to.

Yet a sticky appendage crashed against her cloak and her right side, gasping out, eyes wide open as she noticed herself dragged away, every inch her boots covered practically shattered the rocky floor she's standing on.

"What...-" She turned back in that instant where the eldritch aberration robbed for her attention once again. Murderous eyes marked it for death, her hands pulled back against that tongue and popped it off from her side.

"FUCK-" She pulled back, rooting herself down and swinging the entire seeker from its tongue against the cavernous walls behind her, crashing meters above Ronja and the elder man's friends's heads, dust and pebbles dropping atop the prisoners.

"OFF!" She shouted, swinging downwards and letting go of the seeker to send him crushing against one of the pillars nearest to the crystalline water.

She gasped for air, dropping to one knee as blood dripped down her mouth. The pressure, the toll in her efforts. It all begun to make her body break apart with how reckless she has been so far, drunk with bloodlust. Yet that rage is a double edged blade, and the one aimed outwards forced her back to her feet, stumbling her way towards the wall that cracked and finally begun to give up on it's grasp, a prison crumbling sooner than later.

"FIORAAAAAAAAAA-!"

The elf fell to her knees, crawling on all fours, quickening breathes forced her to panic, the pain intoxicated and left her trying her damn hardest if only-

if only she could get closer. Just a few steps away from the magia. Just a little longer. She just needed to try harder for her, to get them both out alive.

"I'm not..." Her voice cracked, pessimistic, before a sudden surge of strength had her dig her hands into the ground and push herself up towards the Magia with haphazard steps "I'M NOT LETTING YOU DIE!" She screamed as far as her vocal cords allowed.

Ronja watched with wide and teary eyes as Fiora averted her attention entirely to the Magia. The sight of the Knightess approaching, trying to reach her with her hands, was something that brought a hint of courage to Ronja. She breathed a desperate sigh, trying to force her hand toward Fiora's, but the flesh simply pulled it back, while Fiora was entangled and pulled away.

"No-!" Her heart leaped as she saw the aberration catching Fiora, but the elf, with overwhelming strength, rose the aberration, that between shrieks and flails, was tossed with all strength to slam against a wall.

The Magia yelped in surprise, feeling the flesh that was tightened around her body relieving and releasing her against the ground along with the other hostages, where she fell on her knees and arms, coughing and still gasping for air, with the pressure squeezing her burning lungs as she sought for every inch of breath she could catch.

Her eyes grew wide, and she got onto her feet, rushing just in time to avoid the falling aberration, that crushed against the floor and sent Ronja stumbling forward.

"F-Fiora, please! Please, are you alright?!" Ronja cried, throwing herself at Fiora, wrapping the elf tightly in her arms and squeezing.

"Fiora, Ronja is sorry, Ronja is so sorry!" She sobbed, ignoring the danger behind her, with her circuits finally getting together and allowing her masteries to work again, albeit still faulty to a point. But it didn't matter, Ronja would give everything she could, everything to the one that cared so much for her, to the one she cared so much for-

❰ Infusion - Healing Factor ❱

A thin, glowy teal line ran through the surface of Ronja's body, like veins that sewed her body together, brimming with a magitechnological power. The veins made curves, crossing every inch of her skins, but all of them centralized on her chest, where her heart beat quickly, racing along with Fiora's.

The glow tied along with Fiora's heart, wrapping around it and spreading through her body and enclosing her wounds.

"Ronja... Is so sorry..." She apologized once again, not wishing to let the elf go, especially when the aberration rose from behind the two of them, holding back another breath before thundering another outworldly roar, sinking deep into Ronja's ears and mind, sending a deadly shiver down her spine and making her bury her face against Fiora's shoulders.

"N-Not again..!" She whimpered, a second before the creature stomped against the ground, and rushed toward the two of them.

Her legs finally gave up, and the world tilted downwards once she started to drop down. A final cry and a gentle thud against Ronja stopped her, a few seconds later realizing exactly who it is that caught her before she could allow herself to fall.

"You caught me." Drowsy words parted her lips as her glassy eyes begun to pour tears out, despite how hard she tried to keep them on place and the anger that boiled her blood at the moment driving leaning her far more into a murder spree than to cry out in joy.

Even while Ronja cried and apologized, the embrace from the magia felt strangely warm. It couldn't just be adrenaline pumping through her veins, but she let that slip by if only to appreciate that lively expression on her, crowded with tears and apologies, yes, but there is life in it. There's still the person she would risk life, limb and soul for, and not a husk like the rest of the prisoners. She's grown oh so tired from blood loss, or she would have broken into sobs and whimpers right here, right now.

And then Ronja started to glow, grey eyes barely tracking around that thin line that sound spread all over, centered over her heart. And soon, her own followed, and the two of them shared the same emerald 'marks'. Bruises scarred and sealed off immediately, and the pressure on her body, while still bad, did not grow any worse no longer, eliciting a loud gasp, reawakened of this half-sleep state she almost so foolishly fell for.

Just then, arms wrapped tightly around Ronja and held onto her once the smaller girl cried in surprise. This time, she wouldn't be surprised and taken away, she would take the hit if necessary, and to her own disappointment the piercing howl had reached past her ears, her resolve went unchallenged and instead it was Ronja's the one that did, and it left her with one harsh decision as the Seeker begun to charge down to them.

Fiora gulped, her hands squeezed the girl's sides painstakingly so, before she begrudgingly let go of her. Finally reunited, and so quickly set apart. Her fingers craved to find the woman once again, to apologize for letting go so soon, but she knew that someone had to stop this aberration once and for all. And if she didn't, Ronja would not be safe no matter how hard she clinged.

Gritting her teeth, so she did. The elf broke their hug and turned her eyes back to the beast, challenging it with a sprint of her own to meet it head on, her right hand caught up her stand-by bastard sword as her plated gauntlet grasped the beast by it's jaws once it thrashed and pushed back against her, the reckless beast lashed with aimless bites and pushing against Fiora for it, who retaliated with burying her blade into one of it's limbs before it could even try to catch her. They almost reached Ronja before her footing finally halted the full force of the eldritch, and one loud roar out of her lips later, Fiora threw the creature upwards, leaving it's underbelly exposed. Now put off-balance, she retracted her blade and cut through it's belly, the blade extending it's range past the beast as the wide open slash accompanied the brutal strength she had and sent the beast rolling to the side.

'This is not over yet.' Her voice echoed through Ronja's head once Mindsend activated. Her lips didn't move one inch, yet there was no need for. The panting knight that glanced over her shoulders needed only sight to communicate, to fight back against the Seeker's influence within her mind. 'Heal your wounds, I'll keep it busy for you.'

'I'm here for you...'

"Don't be sorry, be better." She finally spoke. Resolute and impassive. Yet no matter how cold these words were compared to the telepathic, soothing voice of earlier, these were the greatest pleasantry she could offer as her heart was set ablaze with hatred, wrathful eyes laser-targeted their enemy. "Close your heart to everything. We are in a fight." She tightened the grasp on her blade, letting it rest pointed against the enemy in a Schlussel stance.

"And this is as far as you'll go."

Despite the pressure crushing her lungs, despite every pain, despite the fear of the creature howling in their backs and the tears going down at every second, when Fiora slipped a "You caught me." Ronja couldn't help but breathe a bittersweet and shaky giggle, recovering a bit of her will to fight on.

"J-Just like you always did while Ronja was trying to walk in this world..." Ronja tightened the hug one last time, before the brief joy from the gentle memories had to fade away, with Fiora letting her go.

There was still a creature to be fought, and when it trampled its way toward the two of them, Ronja's heart froze and she turned around, with fear screaming in her eyes because her throat had a lump that didn't allow even a gasp to escape.

The creature continued to charge in, but between that giant, hulking aberration there was a much smaller figure than it.

'This is not over yet.'

Still...

'Heal your wounds, I'll keep it busy for you.'

Even if the monster was overwhelmingly stronger and bigger.

'I'm here for you...'

She felt for a moment, that as long as she was with the knightess, she could do it. Ronja staggered, clenching her foot against the ground while kneeling with the other leg. It weakened with the pain and wounds, with the exhaustion, just like out there. The fear of doing too much effort, the fear of going overboard.

"Don't be sorry, be better."

Ronja gritted her teeth, forcing herself up and clenching her fist.

"Close your heart to everything. We are in a fight."

"You better not die on Ronja!" She called, activating her recovery, with the lines and veins brimming with a self-healing power, quickening it when she saw the hulking aberration charging at Fiora with all its might.

The creature felt the elf's rage, it felt its intention, and it was going to crush all her hopes and determination down. The vipers shrieked along with the main body, pouncing toward the elf knight and biting on her shoulders, arms, and legs, and squeezing them with a crushing force, trying to sink a strong venom into her as they did.

Cycle Action. Dissonant Venom - @Fiora Di Angelo taunts the Seeker and receives 20 30 damage. She must make a DC 85 Fortitude Save to avoid becoming Poisoned for two cycles, receiving 15 damage at the beginning of each cycle (The Poisoned condition is unaffected by modifiers).

A bittersweet giggle came out of the magia, and her ears perked up instantly so at the sound of it that brought a thin smile back to her otherwise stressed out visage.

"J-Just like you always did while I was trying to walk in this world..."
"I could get used to this..." She responded, with a dry, weary giggle of her own.

But there was little time left for themselves, the threat loomed near and Fiora reacted accordingly to halt it's advances and push it back, and now as she readies herself it so intends to try again, and again. A restless creature that knows only to cause despair, and yet all it had left on them is discomfort on their bossoms with a thicker-than-life air.

"You better not die on Ronja!"

And with these words of encouragement, the elven knight rushed in, the hilt kept at waist level as she adopted a plow guard instead, yet that would not be quite enough. These stances were useful in practice, sure, but they were meant for humanoids foes rather than amorphous beasts.

Claws, teeth and vipers all sank onto her body, freezing her momentum and pushing her on the backfoot. She didn't miss the chance to skewer the beast throughfuly with her blade, yet that didn't make the pain any less scream-worthy. Venom had begun to sink into her, even drip all over her body.

And a faint glow begun to course through her veins, through her heart, becoming stronger and stronger- The greenish tone might give the idea of poisonous substances, yet it did the opposite of harm. It protected what plate and thick leather could not, as the venom got counteracted by Ronja's Healing Factor.

"Make..." Raspy, struggling voice followed Fiora's struggles as her hands begun to shove off the Seeker from her, her left hand busy grasping upon one of it's fangs, the rest barely piercing against her guard, while her right hand pulled off the bastard sword deep against it's chest and instead aimed for one brutal thrust over the neck, forcing the monster to squirm and recoil once the steel twisted like a knife gashing out at it's wound. "ME!" She yelled out as a response to the magia, both hands across the grip helped her rip her weapon out of the beast.

from self heal (Roll halved from last Cycle)

Ronja grimaced when the creature lunged at Fiora, with each of the vipers going for a part of her body, in a brutal and venomous pinning. The elf had told her to heal herself, but just standing behind... Just waiting Fiora to fight that thing off all by herself... Ronja shouldn't- Ronja couldn't do such a thing.

The pressure, despite persisting, wasn't as painful and burning as before, something that caught the Magia's attention immediately. "Fiora, you--" She scowled, but the sight of the elf woman struggling back halted Ronja's thoughts, and she instinctively tried to reach for her rifle--

But her Inventory's access- That was no good.

Ronja darted off, clenching her fists together and charging up mana on her hands before pointing both of her palms toward the aberration. Her energized palms then opened, and through a hole, she erupted two mana beams at the direction of the giant roaring monster, exploding them on its face and widening the wounds caused by the elf.

With the sequence of powerful blows, the Seeker staggered, growling and rumbling before shooting its tongue toward the elf once again, trying to wrap the stick appendage around her neck.

Dissonant Aura. Player UIs glitch and sputter, hindering Auto-Assist users and combat loggers. Dissonant Seekers are Immune to Corrupt, Dark Magic, and Animancy masteries.

Pressure. The Dissonant pressure doubles every Cycle, dealing 5 damage at the first cycle, 10 at the second, 20 at the third and so goes on. If the Dissonant Seeker's SP is dropped to zero, the pressure stops increasing, but it keeps dealing the damage at the beginning of every cycle. (The damage is unaffected by modifiers). Current Pressure: 20.

Cycle Action. Tongue Hook - @Fiora Di Angelo taunted the Seeker and takes 25 35 damage, and must make a DC 85 Fortitude or Reflex Save to avoid being pulled into the Dissonant Seeker's jaws. If she fails, she receives 10 damage at the beginning of each Cycle, until she can succeed on the Save by using a bonus action.

-70 DMG from Tongue Hook
Trapped by the Seeker's Jaws

The moment she stepped back, readying herself to strike back at the Seeker, it's face blew off with a puff of smoke and a loud hissing sound that left her grimacing. She didn't need to look over her shoulder, that's definitely Ronja's trademark.

Wanting to capitalize on the beam strike, Fiora stepped forth only to be met with a sticky tongue, which she barely had enough time to use her left forearm to block it, only it ended up wrapping on her gauntlet, as tremendous force yanked her in it's direction. It had been denied it's meal, and now it wanted an actual taste, burying it's teeth deeper into her arm, her sword barely dropped from her right hand. Her cries had turned to groans, she had been running out of breath to scream, and her throat had gotten sore by now. Not just that, the pain was unimaginable. Bearing not only the pressure she's feeling, but the one from Ronja, and now this...

She's nearing her limits, and even then Fiora just plunged her bastard sword up to the hilt on the Seeker's right bicep, letting go of her weapon to close her hand into a tight fist, armored knuckles going straight against the dissonant's face, bashing it ferociously, as hard as she could while her arm had been turned into a chew toy.

"Ronja!" She yelled, just as she dragged herself and the Seeker along to give a better angle to the magia to take aim for, and to notice how a strange purpel mucus kept rolling off the monstrosity's jaws and sapping into the elf's wounds...

-20 HP from Pressure

The pressure continued to tighten Ronja's lungs, even if the pain was eased by Fiora's efforts and self-sacrifice, which Ronja wouldn't stand for and would make sure to scold her after the two of them came out of this alive. Hopefully, they would- Ronja prayed, struggling to keep her circuits intact after being forced to use her own body as a weapon.

Unfortunately, such a thing wasn't exactly the most energetically efficient way to combat, but at the same time, Ronja was at the peak of her despair, watching Fiora handling that enormous beast with all her strength and resilience...

... All to protect her, a small Magia, someone that didn't give her the trust she deserved. Despite... Everything...

Cries and groans snapped Ronja's attention back to the combat as she was distracted in thoughts and attempting to recharge her batteries--

"Ronja!"

The voice, the tone-- The aberration was dragging her by an arm that was all inside of its mouth, was carrying her away, but Fiora still fought bravely.

Ronja knew what Fiora meant by her call, and immediately, she tried to charge another beam-- However, it was on cooldown, with faint steam escaping from the holes of her hand. Ronja gritted her teeth, and once again she tried to access her inventory, but to no avail.

"F-Fiora-!" She tried to call for her, to try to tell her to escape, but her arm... It was impossible.

Ronja gritted her teeth, momentarily considering charging with her own body and fists against that aberration, to try and snatch Fiora out of its deadly grasp, but it was when she reminded herself-

Slipping her hand toward her waist, she gripped the second dearest thing she bore in this world, given my the one dearest...

Ronja's memories flashed in her mind, and she stomped forward.

Her first steps.

Fiora's groan made Ronja grimace, but she tried to keep her focus.

Her first friend.

She gripped her slingshot firmly, snatching a pebble and aiming carefully.

Her first weapon and gift.

The aim was shaky, and for a moment, Ronja felt a knot on her throat, seeing Fiora struggling to the last of her energies.

Her first love.

Ronja took a deep breath and the aim stabilized, locking on. Her eyes clicked twice, zooming in as one brimming with a golden hue, and the other with bright azure. Electric crackles whipped floor and walls, and the mana overflow rose dust and pebbles from the ground.

Charging up along with her magnetism, Ronja used every inch of her energy, leaving just 1% of it in her body, spending other resources to fill the arcane power she imbued on the stone.

HP.

MP.

Magic Items.

And every inch of determination Fiora gave to her.

"GET OFF HER!" She roared, releasing the slingshot.

A thin azure line was the first thing that appeared when Ronja sent the pebble flying. In the first second, this line went through the center of mass of the creature, freezing it on spot. In the following second, a sudden rumble staggered the surroundings, shaking the cave and raising every hair of one's body. In the last second, the thin line thicked, glowing in a blinding golden light that ate matter and exploded a wide hole into the creature's body, piercing the wall before it and burrowing dozens and dozens of feet deep into it.

As fast as it opened the wound, it was cauterized, leaving a clean and perfect lack of mass.

The aberration remained still for a moment, before finally tilting and slamming against the ground, sending water and dust into the air, with a thud that echoed through the whole cave.

Ronja watched the creature fall, breathing heavily, feeling the pressure release her lungs and finally allowing her to breathe properly. The poor victims, or at least some of them, slowly seemed to awake from the trance they had been through-- But at this point, even Ronja paid no attention to them.

Instead, her eyes focused on one person.

Ronja stumbled, rushing, desperately to reach for Fiora.

Why did she take so long..? She should have shot by now, what keeps her?

The seeker kept gnawing, and having pierced every single layer of defense, it's teeth sank down into her flesh throughfuly. There was no way she could hold it back. An ear-piercing scream kept her mouth wide open. Her legs begun to lose their pull, and now it's the dissonant the one who dragged her back, her face so close to it they were practically staring down at eachother.

"GET OFF HER!"

A roar called from afar, her eyes tracking back to Ronja, ready to tell her to abort the mission. If she falls, then one of them could at least make it back out to the surface...

Instead, what she saw left her eyes wide open. For a fraction of a second, infront of her she stands, with that strange slingshot they bought so long ago at a not so incredible price. The one thing that saved their backs the last time against the Negatron and Positron. Somehow that ol' relic came back instead of the Skullbuster.

Even Hypersense couldn't catch what came next, as the pebble just didn't register within her eyesight. She could have sworn nothing could go past her vision, and yet a singular thin line froze the Seeker entirely. There were no more bites, no more resistance, yet it's jaws did not let go of her despite how unnaturally petrified it had turned out to be, then the entire cavern shook, the tremendous force behind the impact sent a chill down her spine as her hairs billowed as soon as a flashing golden light left her in the blind, turning her eyes away with the sole instinct of pulling back and free her arm before it's too late, and by the time she did, the elf dropped down on her back, reaching out for her wounded arm as her eyes re-adapted to the brightness once it all went down, only to notice the beast looming above her...

Just flop to the side, with a fizzling hole on it's side that poured smoke out, and the wall to the right just completely obliterated by a perfect cilinder, like the most accurate drill just cleanly cut into it and extracted the stone.

"W-what, where..." One of the former victims huffed and puffed, like just now they were allowed to breath, the man patted at his own chest to verify he's indeed alive, and watched the pool of alien flesh with clear disgust and horror before his attention turned back to an old woman of grey locks of hair, her clothes ragged by the flesh, but still holding fairly well for a long dress.

Fiora was left speechless, and before her mouth could open, a magia came at top speed to greet her. A wide smile formed on her lips just then, planting a left hand over the ground only to crumble down as soon as she tried to lift herself, yelping in surprise as the pain paralyzed her limb. But that could wait a bit longer, as once Ronja got close enough, the elf desperately wrapped her good arm around her and pulled her into a hug. Damned be the air, so hard to get back to her lungs...

"Can't believe that cheap thing really did that." She jested, half of her laughter just dying down to silence, as her grasp suddently tightened up and it turned to sobs instead. "Can't believe you made me worry like this, I should be fucking mad at you..." She admitted between whispers, burying her face against the magia's neck. Deep down she knew what this is, and how weak it made her feel. But if one person deserved to hold her heart, it had to be that kind of person. The one that made her feel butterflies in her stomach like this. The one person that, unconciously, she would have died for right here right now despite the implications it meant, given Dissonance.

And now, the person she would conciously make that decision over and over again.

The arm wrapping around Ronja, the arm of the person she held so dearly made the girl realize the one everything would be fine now... No. Everything was fine as soon as Fiora stepped in to save her. Ronja was just too silly to realize it. Too lost in a hopeless state to understand it.

The Magia sank deeper on Fiora's embrace, letting out a giggle when the jest came from the knightess, but soon the laugh and jest faltered into a sob, and Ronja's smile faintened as she hugged Fiora tighter. "Ronja should be mad at you too! You fought that whole thing by yourself before Ronja was freed-" She held back her own tears. Fiora's was enough.

"Sorry. Ronja... Ronja should've trusted you." She said, feeling Fiora closer than ever, with their heartbeats, albeit different sounding and rushing in the adrenaline that remained, being in unison to one thing:

"We are alive." Ronja said, quietly and warmly. The same silly and cheesy sentence they always spoke.

"Thanks to you... coming all the way here for Ronja..." She said, caressing the elf's hair, closing her eyes and lingering their embrace as much as she could.

Fiora gasped just as Ronja squeezed her harder and scolded her back. Yeah, something probably broke, or everything just hurt so much that even those little arms were enough to make her squeal in pain, and it got the opposite effect that the magia desired, given how little attention she paid at her to focus on her right side where it hurt, tilting her body to the side, not ready to let go of Ronja just yet.

"F-fuck! Be gentle!" She huffed, her voice teared a little bit, as if a knife had been given a twist inside of her. Her frown died off soon enough just as Ronja started to apologize, a sigh helped her recover her cool in that moment, pulling the Magia closer.

"It's whatever. You are safe, I don't care about anything else right now." Whose right or whose wrong had long left her thoughts. At first it was principle not to, but an empty stomach and a worked up body after what felt like an eternity in these caverns shifted opinions away.

"We are alive."

There came that line again, that thought continued after that, and a hand reached to stroke her hairs, with Fiora lowering her arm until she could wrap it around Ronja's backside to lift her up. Child's play, given her strength, at least until she had to stand back up, which proved far trickier than expected. At least, until the couple of people that were still in one piece helped the knightess up, surprised for a second to feel someone lift her back up to her feet.

"I... Did he sent you?" The old woman spoke first among the group, great effort put on each step she did towards the duo. "Herald, is he..."

"I am. I'm fine, Emmy."
A voice came from behind, and Fiora glanced over her shoulder to notice the same old man in mismatched clothes approach, albeit his mannerisms had completely changed, and that tone had an unnatural confidence compared to earlier. It is as if madness had finally abandoned his mind...

"I'm sorry I couldn't explain myself better earlier to you. But it looks like you found your friend, the Magia." He smiled to the shock on the elf's face. "Yes I'm not just a babbling buffoo-"

"Herald what TOOK you so long!"
The grandma roared with great vigor, heading closer to the old geezer and pulling from his hair as the sage whined, but couldn't fight back a loved one when they were mad, rightfully so at that.

"Woah woah can we get an explanation after we get out of here? How did you even get here in the first place?" Having their little moment ruined got on her nerves, but to see this group of landers safe and sound at least meant they did a good job, and this crazy gramps would give them their answer. But first, they had to get out of there in the first place.

As the group begun their march, with the able-bodied carrying the sage's purple lantern, Fiora finally broke the general silence, except for Harald and Emma's arguments at the face of the party.

"So you know how I look like a knight, sort of... Right?" She bit down her tongue, her cheeks turned red once her words started to repeat themselves and picture the scenario inside her brain. That didn't make her feel any less stupid right now. After swallowing down her shame, she continued with a shakey tone, like a teen on her first confession ever, not so far off a comparison in fact. "And you are a princess. So I can-I could be like- You and I be like a princess... And...- Fuck." She closed her eyes for a moment, deep breathes in an attempt to get herself back to normal, and finally she met gazes with Ronja, determined yet scowling expression set all over her. "What I'm saying is: I wanna meet the real Ronja and find out if she's the princess I'm looking for, and I am the prince you've been waiting for. Would you uh, like that?" If she had been sweating bullets this entire encounter, then this had to be the second closest experience to it, even worse than life & death. Yet Fiora's eyes also darted around for a second, as if wary that another dissonant would come and ruin their little moment, only calming down from that bit of paranoia that had her squeeze Ronja against her.

Ronja could feel a flutter in her chest as Fiora spoke nothing else mattered, and Ronja, similarly felt the same... As selfish as it was, Ronja could only see and hear Fiora during the moments their lives were at risk... And even now that they were fine, she was still her only priority.

"Yeah..." She giggled quietly, nearly snuggling closely until the unfamiliar voice snapped her back to reality.

She shifted her gaze, looking at the landers for a moment, holding a breath back before finally laughing heartily. "Yes, Ronja thinks we should walk out of here," Ronja said, nodding as she got back to her feet along with Fiora, eventually moving to finally escape that worthless and dangerous cave, a room of so much despair and fear.

As they gained some distance from the other survivors, Fiora's words made Ronja slow down, focusing her attention on the knightess as she spoke.

Her words, one by one pulled strings on Ronja's heart, with her cheeks reddening as a natural reaction, and the flutter making her heart, which was already beating rather fast, quicken even more. Ronja half opened her mouth, feeling a joy crawling in her chest. "Ronja..." Her lips pursed, quivering into a sheepish smile. "... Ronja doesn't think she needs to find out, but..."

Soon, however, a red UI window popped up in front of Ronja again, making her expression freeze and her eyes widen slightly. She swallowed dry, tightening her hold on Fiora and closing her eyes tightly.

After a moment, a quick decision followed.

Ronja tugged Fiora closer, whispering her address, hoping the other would be smart enough to hold it in her mind before looking at her eyes with her own teary ones, a moment before she pulled in and pressed her lips against the knightess'.

The gentle warmth of the touch, the caress of the lips, and the clear inexperience of the first timer in it. Ronja held her closely, and her tears sparkled as they fell, and the touch became less palpable, less solid, less... Real.

Pixel by pixel, Ronja's shape flickered, as if she has been spirited away, simply disappearing in front of everyone's eyes, ears, and tact.

[Ronja left the thread]

A smile creeped on her lips now that she heard Ronja laugh outloud for everyone to hear, and soon all of them were following suit in their trip back home, traversing the caverneous underground, Herald clearly knowing the ins and outs, as if this hasn't been the first time. Impressive, for an old geezer that is.

Yet soon the time to pour her heart out came, and doing so had the magia eerily quiet in front of her. She spoke her name out first, and Fiora's ears perked up, her heart raced as if it could somehow reach the finish line before the conversation even started.

"... Ronja doesn't think she needs to find out, but..."

"No buts, there's nothing for you to worry about I'll... Ronja?" Fiora's momentum fell flat at the frozen expression on Ronja's face, falling down to her knees infront of her. Both of her hands rested on these little shoulders, the sting on her left arm felt like a million knives pinching at her pain nerves, but she ignored it, brute forcing her way through it. Ronja needed her, and no sooner than later her hand got taken hold of, pulled even closer as her voice fell to whispers.

Shock and confusion riddled her, yet despite the address ringing in her head, her gut told her this wasn't the end of the story. The tears that tariled down Ronja's eyes confirmed it, and panic finally gripped her heart.

Why..?

Their lips pressed, and her whole body froze, at first incapable of reciprocating the feeling, only to prove just how inexperienced they both were. It had been so long since the last time she's been kissed... And while a part of her waited for this moment, it just didn't felt right.

It felt like a goodbye. It certainly is, but as if death were to make them apart, Fiora clinged so tightly to what little remained of Ronja as her form begun to dissapear into the thin air, eyes opening once her lips and herself were left alone... Again.

All that remained were the wet stains from her tears and the one she shared them with, her limbs lost all strength, clinging to nothingness, as if somehow that would bring her back, before hands dropped restless against the ground.

The group had come to a stop as they begun to notice their saviors were left behind, and Herald was the first to rush to see what the commotion is all about, only to find a shattered will, a conflicted mind. So disturbingly similar to himself from moments ago, and now Fiora had taken his place.

Just another broken woman.

When he noticed the blue-haired girl was no longer on her arms, and nowhere for him to see despite the light of a torch and the frantic attempts from the rest of the group to spread around, there were no traces left for them to find.

"...I'm so sorry." He just didn't know what to say, and that wouldn't change a thing, yet Fiora's eyes snapped back to meet him, surprisingly. Tears flooded crystaline eyes, pouring down her cheeks as anger bathed her features.

"SHE'S NOT DEAD. She just- Just leave this place."

Why did you leave. Why do you all leave.

She kept it together, at least for as long as it would take for the group to leave, for the lights to no longer illuminate even the corner of her gaze, and be left in complete solitude, with only the dark and her own sobs to keep her company. She waited, as hope kept her optimistic. For once, that sparking high schooler in her tried to hold back the sorrow. Everyone else got their happy ending. She played hero against her own rules. And a hero's reward she got: Nothing.

Worse.
