QUEST: UNDOABLE I

There'll be a party in the Palace of Light tonight, with nobles and high-ranking officials attending to celebrate their achievements. The host of the party, Sir Eiven of Laiderick, is currently under suspicion of treason. But there's no evidence that suggested that kind of thing, and the Falderen Government is unable to conduct internal investigation normally, as the Laiderick Estate holds so much power in the government itself.

So, it was up to the Adventurers Guild; the organization without kingdom, the soldiers without border, and the menaces without responsibility. The top-secret assignment came from the Falderen Government itself, and two of the most experienced Platinum Ranked members, @Moonsong and @Jin were elected as special investigators.

The mission? Blend into the party, get inside the estate, grab the documents in his office safe and extract.

The catch? Should they accept the undoable quest, they will have to turn in their

platinum tags; Adventurers Guild and the Falderen Government will deny any involvement in the espionage should they be captured.

Whatever was in the documents, the two are not cleared to read any of the files, as it would be a top government secret.

The night came. Waiting for her partner-in-crime for today, Moonsong wore the formal outfit provided by the Guild, muttering near the Palace of Light entrance gate as she memorized her fake identity. "Hello, I'm Miss Song from the Olden Estate," She practiced.

Undoable: First Chapter

The first pangs of Early Winter were evident as steam billowed from his lips. He could feel them cracking and threatening to blister and denied the incessant urge to lick them. Soon they would pass through the threshold and enter the Palace, and they would be more than warm enough. The flames in every fireplace and heating elements that were procured from Astorean Travelers made the venue among the most comfortable and lavish destinations in the entire world.

What they knew about it from the briefing expressed that it was also heavily policed by private security as well as Knights of Falderen, loyal to both the crown and to the Laiderick Estate. Who was on the side of "justice" and who supported "corruption" however, was a topic for heated debate. Less the tag that denoted him as a Platinum Adventurer and afforded him no small amount of sway the world over, he was at the mercy of fate.

Jin misliked that.

Hello, I'm Miss Song from the Olden Estate, the woman gave the practiced greeting, and he responded in kind. "Ser Aldebrict Ballack, Retainer to Lord Darche," he gave a short, respectful bow to the woman as he turned to face her fully. He knew of her only by her reputation and the short briefing back at the Guild, but seeing her in person was a different experience.

Unlike Jin, she was prim, proper, well dressed, smelled clean and of something floral- Jasmine, perhaps? His cloak was the standard garb of a Falderen hedge knight, something to keep the cold off his bones but nothing extravagant. As a guest, @Moonsong had more social prowess, the ability to freely move and glean information, and ultimately to control the field of play.

Since he had been relegated to security detail, Jin was less able to move about. He had a post, changing shifts, and the eyes of every other guard in the venue on him as he made his movements. But during the changing of the guard, and at certain intervals throughout the night, he had unfettered access to portions of the venue where his partner on this mission would not be able to go.

Between the two of them, with what one or the other was able to learn, one of them would be able to ascertain the location of their quarry.

"I daresay that my Lady looks quite magnificent this evening," he complimented her. "Would that I could have been a guest this evening so that we could share a dance."

Rain trickled. It was high time for her to blend in anyway. She went up to the stairs, showing her manufactured Olden Estate badge to the guard in charge of the entrance; the other infiltrator, posing as a Knight from House Darche. He bowed to her as soon as she introduced herself, and gave her a look to proceed with their scenario as planned.

"Why, thank you, Ser Aldebrict Ballack." The woman gave a slight bow to the guard, before playing with her hair. "I'm sure we'll be able to know more about each other later." She made a rather exaggerated, but convincing flirty gesture of biting her low lip and winking, making sure the other guards on her left noticed this. If anything, this would build some kind of an alibi in case two of them went missing together; the guards would think they'll be having some funny business in the back. It's not a rare case for a noblewoman to be quite... adventurous.

The big door adorned with gold opened in front of her, as the sight of the glimmering main hall is presented. Yeah, this guy is obviously corrupt, alright. But what's the catch here? From the hall, she went left to follow the group of ladies into the main ball, blending among them. Although the girl doesn't drink any alcohol, a noblewoman without a glass of champagne is going to be hard to approach, so she did what everyone did; grabbing one from a tray.

"Evening, ladies and gentlemen." A voice boomed, beckoning the guests to settle down and turn their attention forwards. The owner of the voice, a silver-haired gentleman with a sophisticated-looking beard slowly but surely walked down the red-carpeted stairs into the first floor of the massive room. Sir Eiver is here. "I sincerely welcome all of you to this humble celebration, as House Laiderick was able to successfully gathered incredible support for our project." He announced. "I hope all of you will enjoy tonight's party. I will join the floor soon enough."

His entrance and speech were enough to make all guests of the party excited, with thunderous applause and such. It was unfortunate that Moonsong didn't even know what the project was; they were not briefed about this, perhaps it was the government secret? Asking around would spell disaster as she would quickly be found out. She went to the corner, quickly typing a message to Jin without anyone seeing.

"Eiver came and went back upstairs, talking about some kind of project. The guards know something about this?"

Worst case, she just gonna go and seduce a nobleman to find out more about this.
