"That so?"

She looked at Kyanna who was full of praise for her, before turning back to the white-haired guardian who mentioned the next place of interest.

"The other watchtower." The woman glanced in the direction of the Ascent. The fog at this height and temperature made it harder to see where it should be, but it shouldn't be a problem as long as Thomas is with them. "Two days. Something happened," Probably shouldn't have said that, but Eva being Eva, she's just stating the most likely outcome with the information she has right now.

This began to sound like a derailing side quest to her, and she would prefer to just go straight to the Ascent to find Kyanna's mother rather than wasting more time on this, and it looks like Kyanna shared the same sentiment. But they needed the Guardian's help if they want to reach that place safely.

Just hope that the other watchtower's guardian doesn't suddenly ask them to do yet another chore. It would be something that Ubisoft would do to pad playtime if they designed this game. Or at least it was what Dayeon ranted to her in the past.

"Alright, we'll help." She agreed to it while assuring Kyanna that this investigation job is not going to be hard. "As long as everything still follows logic, I can do it."

The white-haired woman proceeded to help pack the extra equipment with the others. By helping, of course by touching the items and sending them to the inventory, just like that. After readying herself, she then asked Thomas.

"How do we get to the other watchtower?"

"Who doesn't like pumpkins?" Confused over Kyanna's question. Don't all animals prefer real food? That's where pumpkin seeds come in. "Pssh, silly Kyanna, Tock doesn't get you sometimes... Come on, let us feed the horses!" She proclaimed, pointing like a conqueror towards their cart where the wooden animals awaited the party's return, turning herself back to face Kyanna, expecting the obvious question of: 'How do you feed these?'-

Intercepting it with an answer before the imaginary question was even asked, and a wag from her finger: "They eat mushrooms, soooo... Conjure some, O' mighty witch! Any mushroom works. Oh and don't worry about side-effects, they have no allergies nor are they intolerant to milk like Tock, Tock made sure of it." She puffed her chest proudly so. "Tock will even gift you one of these once we find your mama. Tock bets Kyanna's mama will love it."

"Two days. Something happened,"
Eva's words stung his conciousness where it hurt the most, understandably so, as it was an undeniable fact.

I hope not. But at this point, if what Kyanna says is right, then you are my best chance at figuring things out.

Despite his determination, Thomas couldn't ignore the possibilities rolling through his mind, one more gruesome than the other, and some not even lasting longer than a second in fear of his own heart faltering to them.

"Tick learned veeery quickly not to trust human logic, Mama. Someone clearly scrapped that when they created this world." She pointed out, watching the pair pick up equipment one after the other, with Eva taking the smart approach while Thomas followed more traditional guidelines instead of handing it over to Eva. Was he stupid..?

"The sky is red and the moon shoots laser beams. Logic must be rolling on it's calculus grave by now!" Tick shrugged in a comically exaggerated manner, yet the references were crystal clear even for the guardian himself, who shared a glance back to the puppet; Of course, nothing else but the warzone that was the final push within Vintergard to reach the dragon ship.

Ehem- There are many paths through the mountains, but there is a tunnel we can cross through to reach the tower, it's wide enough for a cart like yours. It should cover the worst of the ascent, so long as our driver is competent...

Something he didn't want to point outloud, but it's clear he trusts the puppets the least here. A fact Tick missed entirely given the big smile on her face as she wiggled on place back and forth next to Eva.

"Don't worry, Mama here gave Tick an -eyeful-, she knows Tick is the best of the best, creame le' top driver!"

"That much so!" Kyanna chirped, very sure that @Eva was as amazing as her praises could say, and perhaps even more than that.

"No, I mean... Pumpkins are a thing, but Pumpkin seeds specifically?" Kyanna rested a finger on her lower lip, tilting her head in confusing expression as she approached the horses, raising an eyebrow in a mix of curiosity and doubt when Tock told her to conjure mushrooms for the horses. "... These are different type of horses. But edible mushrooms are always good, so it will probably do good for them, in a way or another." Did it really gained any nutrition value from a mushroom?

Taking her hat off, she waved her hands and-

"Abracadabra!"

And with her words of creation, several mushrooms sprouted from inside of her head, all having an earth-like tone to them, instead of the usual glowy and magical hue Kyanna's magical mushrooms used to have. She then leaned the hat closer to the horses, as if using her hat as a bowl.

"With Eva on the investigation, and Tick on the wheels, and Tock... uh... being cute? We will get to the bottom of this in no time. Don't worry!" Kyanna said, firmly to the man while vouching for Eva and @Tick Tock.

"The sky is red and the moon shoots laser beams. Logic must be rolling on it's calculus grave by now!"

As ridiculous as this game is, it still follows the fundamental rules of the universe. People die if they're killed. There's always an exception, of course. "At least there was a lore reason for that."

Watching Kyanna use her mushroomancy was a treat, although seeing a number of mushrooms sprout on top of her head will never stop looking so weird.

"Yes, I think our driver's sufficient. We shouldn't waste more time. The faster we depart, the better." And a higher chance for them to find Kyanna's mother. Motioning to the other four to follow behind her, Eva walked off to return to where the cart was.

---

Back on the road, the cart was heading toward the tunnel that Thomas told them about. The journey should take an hour or two at this pace. Looking outside to see the view of snowy mountains as white as her hair, Eva was reminded of a specific Taiwanese song. Her lips parted as a melody came out of her mouth.

"Xuě huā piāo piāo běi fēng xiāo xiāo
,"

"
Tiān dì yí piàn cāng máng."

It's been a year since she sang just about anything, but it seems like she still got it. No surprises, really.

The horses leaned closer towards the bowl/hat, unnatural hunger having taken over the pair as they begun to push eachother's snout out of the way to try and get to the mushrooms, earning out a giggle from Tock as she watched the witch's trick befit the horsey duo.

"Aha, but these are special horses, don't let the illusion of flesh fool you, Kya-nnah! It's all wood beneath. Wood, gears and dreams, hehe... Just like Tock!" She exclaimed. Perhaps even the horses deserved more personality, now that she saw the similarities.

Inconsequential in comparison to what Kyanna had to say, with Tock leaning closer from behind the witch as her usage of adjectives didn't escape the puppet's ears. "Cuuute? Of course, Tock HAS to be the cutest for Kyanna, else Kyanna may get rid of Tock like an old doll." Clanking fingers wiggled across the air, her hands making a throw motion as the loud noise of something heavy landing within what seems to be a trash can followed, as to conclude her auditive illusion.

"Yeah, let's not play around for too long, it's been a while since I left the tower for an adventure."

A smile bursted through his lips, his eagerness at odds with his heart, the emotional beacon hoping for this story to end all but bitter...

Within The Mountains - The Path of Exile

Tick hummed along, incapable to dance in the ways Tock did whenever Eva begun to sing her strange melodies. Her hands were steady on the reigns, focused like she's never been before as the path was all but dark, save for the wandering lanterns atop the wooden horses, like carrots on a stick, only it was lanterns!

Tock did her best impression of a Taiwan dancer, yet the limited grounds of the wagon and the constant bumps forced her to sit down again, as if the horses had enough of the tap-tap from her shoes...

"Ow- This isn't the kind of date Tock had in mind when taking Kyanna out. Good thing Mama Eva has the ambience songs to keep things chill, else Tock would be panicking already. She keeps hearing things in this ugly tunnel..."

The massive caverns were as damp as they were dark, and the path was nothing if not thin. The darkness extended further beneath the sides, yet if any forced their sight just a little, they might find a strange cyan glow at the very bottom of the otherwise endless pits...

"The 'ugly tunnel' is what they call 'The Path of The Exiled'. Some say a demon walked through here and tore a hole through the mountain, as the earth denied passage to it. Quite the crazy story if you ask me- Never seen any demons around here, but then it's usually not this quiet either."

He smirked, fingers drumming nerveously against his knees.

"Time of arrival estimated... Beep boop, ERROR! Tick has no Clue.docx!" Tick yelled back at the group, as the rattle of their transport almost but drowns her voice.

The air whistles with burden...

The Path of Exile

The road is perilous, the walls treacherous, and vision is scarce. Even here where bats and silence rules, the ghastly wails of whatever makes the caverns their home can be heard every once in a while.

- Thanks to Kyanna's extravagant mushrooms and Eva's smart usage of the inventory to save on space and weight, the horses Lovey & Dovey are much much more capable and motivated to get out of the tunnels! Because of this, they gained the advantage against certain obstacles, but not for long...

- The wails grow more real, pinpointed on the roads behind the cart. Slowly but surely something is coming, and it may be your preparations what made you paranoid or wary of unforeseen consequences: Everyone except @Tick Tock gets to do 1 Action of their choice (The wagon itself can be targeted).

As the mushrooms were eagerly eaten by horses that Kyanna didn't even expect that they could actually eat, which only made the sight more intriguing. Yet, the witch didn't question it, simply flushing at Tock's words. "I won't 'get rid' of you, Tock. Not of you, not of Tick either." She reassured with a nod, then looking at Eva. "And I am sure Eva won't as well."

When the adventure went into the mountains, rather than just on the mountains, Kyanna couldn't help but fidget her fingers while she carefully listened to the sounds echoing in the cave. She wished to communicate with the eventual bat about what was going on, but the noises they were making easily made the poor creatures shy away.

"This isn't a date, Tock." Kyanna retorted, tilting her head and looking at Eva.

"But... I am curious about what song is this. I don't think I know this language-" The girl was, in fact, rather ignorant about how other languages sounded. To the point she somehow would think German and Russian were the same thing.

As she finished her question, the description of the tunnel given by the man was... A bit nerve wrecking to say the least, enough for her to take a soft hold of Tock's sleeve.

"Maybe... Maaaybe we should be prepared then..." She used her free hand to take off her hat, this time chanting a spell to make several glowy mushrooms pop up before she offered them to Eva. "These mushrooms have a lot of effects... They are very, very poisonous, so... You can use them, but be careful."

For someone that meddled with projectiles and alchemy, Kyanna hoped that would increase Eva's arsenal.

Watching Tock doing a weird dance that wasn't close to being Taiwanese at all, she wondered where this 'spinning around slowly around' dance came from. Eva ended up deciding not to think anything about it and just move on.

"But... I am curious about what song is this. I don't think I know this language-"

"Mandarin," The woman gave insight to Kyanna, "It's is a melancholic love song using winter plum blossoms as an analogy for enduring love through hardship." Not important, but she explained anyway.

After a while, they entered a long, dark tunnel with no end in sight. They only know that there's an end, at the very least.

"Time of arrival estimated... Beep boop, ERROR! Tick has no Clue.docx!"

"No end in sight, but if we were to estimate the length of the tunnel by the size of this mountain..."

The inventor started her deduction, Sherlock Holmes style, calculating the distance with how big she thought the mountain was. "Hm. At least sixteen times the diameter of Stokbon." She concluded.

"Maybe... Maaaybe we should be prepared then..."

Nodding, Eva got up from her seat and started to sort her inventory, bringing out a piece of technology that didn't look familiar, or at least not yet while she was still assembling it. Looking at the witch that was calling her, she received the poisonous mushrooms before storing each of them in separate containers that could easily be injected into projectiles.

"Thank you, Kyanna. I'll use them sparingly."

Meanwhile, it took her thirty seconds to finish fixing some joints from the apparatus that she placed in the back of the wagon, making sure the high tripod mount was secured, before pulling the bolt on the device that now looked somewhat familiar.

"LMG, mounted, and loaded." She proclaimed non-enthusiastically.

"Tock's not convinced. We got mama singing romantic songs, and us together here, in the middle of a dark creepy gigantic cave... It sounds very romantic if you ask Tock!" If it were up to her, she would have picked the top of the mountain as their lovey dovey date spot, yet the humid cave had it's own appeal even for the puppet, like watching a horror movie with your significant other.

Tick turned back as Eva's calculations came to a conclusion, laughter whistling through her teeth, fighting against the urge to do an elaborate mock. Hardly allowed when the road was so perilous, even the slightest bump send chills down her artificial spine. "Pfft, who measures in Stokbons? I thought Vintengard was all the wild nowdays! It's barren and boring, just like measurements." Her humour shut itself quiet as a voice far louder than hers boomed across the air. Soon, rock begun to fall in the shape of stalagmites, some cracking the earth the horses ran through, and others plunged deep into the abyss.

"I... I think we are gonna need someone shooting that. Right. Now.

Thomas pointed out to the freshly attached mounted arsenal. The calm in his voice put at odds as his whole body shivered in fear and forced him to stand up from his seat, least he catches a supernatural cold just from his inaction.

Tock huffed, a hand gently sliding across Kyanna's back as she gave her most genuine smile to the witch. "No need to panic! Tock and mama got your back, Kyanny... And Thomas as our brave meatshield." Adding a playful wink at the end.

"Excuse me?!"

There was no time for his protests once the constant, rhythmic slams became noticeable for the whole group, and amidst the darkness they left behind, a set of fingers wrapped around the road, large and detailed enough, bone and flesh warped together as these claws left their own mark on the path with each colossal slam it did. The thing crawls, it's eyes poking through and making themselves known as mere lights to contrast with the dark, and yet they offered no respite nor hope like the end of the tunnel would have.

Yet no matter how hard you look at it, you can barely see what it looks like, the unnatural fog it carries obscuring any attempts to discern what it is, yet pale white arms, gigantic teeth and putrid smell are enough to leave the rest of it to imagination.

It crawls towards the wagon in a frenzied state...

Escape!

It's not the time or place to fight this beast. You can see the light of the outside world already, all you need is one final push!

  • So long as the Wagon is manned by a player (Currently @Tick Tock), they gain +25 modifier and the ability to roll Escape to complete the objective. They cannot perform any other actions while manning the Wagon.
  • Using Haste on the Wagon will force The Creature to lose one action to catch up.
  • Thomas will help however he sees fit.
  • Thanks to @Eva's Buff, the objective bar gains a boost based on the total value of her action. Subsequent Buff actions will instead apply a bonus modifier to the driver player's roll
  • @Kyanna Wynne mushrooms are reacting to The Creature's presence. For this Cycle alone, if combined with the LMG, the attack will explode and hit all body parts for the full rolled value instead of divided per part.
  • Only one person may use the LMG. To do so, write (LMG) on the action's code.
  • The Creature acts a total of once per body part: Left Arm, Right Arm and Torso. They always act last.

"Ooh- Mandarin" Kyanna took a mental note to never forget how that language sounded, but she would probably fail to remember in the future. "That still doesn't make it a date though." She retorted to Tock.

Kyanna watched in awe as @Eva simply begun setting up a gun that certainly didn't belong the world of Terrasphere. It was as far as magitech could bring to the table, and it didn't take long for the wagon to turn into a war cart.

She clapped several times, beaming with a grin as she looked at the silvery haired woman. "That was amazing, Eva! I need to make a fungi version of it someday..."

Her eyes then trailed back at the puppet girl as she felt her touch on her back, blinking. "I am not panicking-"

And then, an outworldly abomination appeared in the darkness behind them, charging at them with all its might and speed.

"I am not panicking yet-" She corrected herself, shuffling her hand into her hat again, and pulling out more glowy mushrooms to hand them to Thomas. "Here, make good use of it! We will need it." Kyanna warned, and with a gesture of her staff, she pointed at the mushrooms that were with Eva, and made them glow in an even more intense tone.

Then, she hurried to near the puppet twins. "We will really need to hurry up." She urged, and pursed her lips. "Tock, if we manage to escape this alive, we are totally in a date!"

Hearing Kyanna wanting to make something equivalent to an automatic stationary firearm with fungi made the snow-haired woman curious. "It's definitely possible." She nodded, encouraging her to try it in the future.

Upon hearing Thomas hear something behind them, Eva quickly turned, her eyes focused on something inside the darkness. Tapping the Tower Keeper's back to signal him to do something against the beast, she moved.

"No time to ponder. It is truly a Pursuit Within the Mountains now."

Reaching for the container that had Kyanna's mushroom, she pressed the small button on the side, and the cylindrical container morphed into an all-size-fitting muzzle accessory that Eva quickly fixed on the end of the machine gun.

"We'll test how potent your mushrooms are."

Positioning herself behind the LMG, Eva aimed and quickly held the trigger like a madwoman, as the gun roared in the tunnel, the muzzle flash revealed some parts of the creature every now and then.

Upon impact, the bullet explodes, releasing poisonous mushroom spores and mist that quickly spread on the creature's body. Spreading the shots all across the body, she hoped that the poison would kick in soon enough before the beast reached them.

The word 'Date' coming out of Kyanna's mouth was enough to send Tock into an overdrive. Were they not facing down a monster many times their size right now she would have the widest smile possible from ear to ear. Instead it was the second closest to one, as Tock pumped her fists upwards.

"YES! TICK, HIT THE GAS, WE GOING TO HAVE A DATE!" Tock commanded with new-found adrenaline, pointing a finger back to her twin.
"Hit the gas?! Sis this is a HORSE-PULLED WAGON not a VAN!" The best she could do to satisfy that preposterous request was to whip the horses a little harder, which only made them huff and puff smoke from their maws, their gears working full-time to get the group out of the cave.

"Well, then get us some more horse-power!" Tock concluded, as her eyes went back to the back, bracing herself once Kyanna's superpowered mushrooms begun to blast through the Eva-manned LMG.

The weapon exploded holes into the beast, with the worst of it taken by the right hand that approached dangerousely close to the wagon, an ear-piercing shriek escaping from it's immobile jaw, a sound that shakes one's spirit rather than body. The amalgamation on it's chest reacting to it, as the muzzleflash from the heavy caliber weaponry gave brief views of what was brewing within it's coarse flesh, and the faint glow of a flame that would soon escape from all of them simultaneously.

Bursting the wooden wagon to flames wasn't the worst of it's effects, as the target of this hellish flamethrower became the very witch, who could feel in it's power a certain disdain, like a startled beast aiming for what it detects as a threat, for one reason or another...

Holding her breath, Tock gasped and begun to shout hysterically:

"MAMAAAAA KYANNA IS HUUUURT!"

"Kyanna?!"

Thomas exclaimed in horror, his face twisting in anger as he wrapped the glowing mushrooms Kyanna offered into arcane orbs, the magic overloading them to the point they begun to leak mana onto the ground, before suddently shooting them towards the giant, exploding onto a purple mist that covered it entirely.

Their combined efforts made it fall back for a moment, or at least it seemed so, until the bright eyes begun to shine once again, and a mist begun to surround the Wagon as an omen to come.

"I don't like the look of that... @Eva cover us, I'll help Kyanna!"

"I-I'll p-p-put out the fir-f-f-fires!" Tock cried, as she focused her efforts in doing just that. Be it with water buckets or her oily tears over the Witch's wounds.

His eyes vaguely went over towards the end of the cave for a second- It wasn't far, the light had begun to pierce through the pitch dark...

Another player can spend a Bonus Action to pull you back up instantly.

As @Eva released a barrage of bullets that exploded and released the poison of Kyanna's mushrooms, the fungi witch's eyes widened, with a brim of hope making her eyes shine. "Nice! Keep going, Eva! I will see if I can get more of these to buy us more time-"

Sticking her hand into her hat, she shuffled it, trying to pick up anything that could be useful... But before she could manage it, fire suddenly had engulfed her, and with a scream of pain, she felt everything going blurry, and her skin scorching when she went straight to the floor of the wagon.

She could barely hear her name being called, with things not making much sense to her, until the man brought her back to her senses, and to her feet as well-

"Ah... Thank you, Thomas-" Kyanna sighed as she felt the burns becoming wet with the tears of the puppet. "Calm down, Tock, it is alright..." She spoke to her, but before she could comfort her any further--

The slam shook the wagon, sending it upwards while Kyanna tried to brace herself. But she couldn't ignore the fact she could see Tock being thrown out of the wagon, which made the witch immediately reach out for her, grabbing her forearm and tripping against the edge of the wagon.

"H-Hold in there!" Waiting for Tock to have a firm grip, Kyanna soon used all her strength to try to pull her back to the cart, even allowing the fungi to sprout out of her arms to wrap around their grasp and finally get her back to safety, stumbling when all the weight of the puppet came back to the wagon. "That... That was close-" Sighing in relief, Kyanna struggled to get back to her feet again, putting herself in front of her friend while she recovered, and bracing herself as she muttered for another spell-

She swung her staff upwards, before sharply lowering it and aiming at the beast that chased them- "Alaaakazaaaaaaam!"

Kyanna chanted the spell, and after a couple seconds, flaps of wings could be heard, and a swarm of bats roared through the cave, with their sounds echoing while they rushed toward the creature, covering it with fierce bites and slapping their wings against it as they flew away, becoming obstacles that hopefully would protect her friends.

+98 Damage from Kyanna (2 stacks)

Hearing Tock's scream, Eva quickly turned back to see Kyanna engulfed in fire. Momentarily distracted, she called out.

"Kyanna!"

Thankfully, Thomas was there to help her back up, but the white-haired woman was not ready for what came next.

The impact of the slam was so massive that even though the stationary gun tripod was secured onto the surface of the wagon, the sheer force ripped it off, causing Eva who was bracing by holding the LMG to almost fly off the wagon, with the last minute grappling hook kept her attached to it, reeling her back but not up on the wagon.

"Ugh,"

With her left arm occupied by the grappling hook stuck on the wagon, the one that was sort of free was her right hand, which was still holding the LMG complete with the tripod attached to it for some reason.

"Look out for the right hand!"

Raising the gun with one hand was very difficult, but it was more difficult handling the sheer recoil of automatic high-caliber weaponry while still trying to hit the right arm that was slowly reaching toward them. The accumulated damage from the mushroom poisoning worked wonders, slowly but surely stopping the advance of the problematic limb.

"Hold onto anything you can!"

Thomas shouted as he a trained eye on Kyanna as the beastfolk, careful to how the witch could react to being so suddently forced back up to her senses. Expecting to see her out cold for a little longer, he felt lucky to see this wasn't the case, giving the woman a short-lived smile as the monstrous entity kept tailing behind them. That, and Tock had taken over to nursing Kyanna.

"Tock-TiThOuGht ToCK haDs-loSt YOOuUUU!" Tock nodded, trying to put herself together and snap out of this sobbing mess she found herself on, not only did the oil kept spilling down her cheeks, but her sight had blurred to the point of perfect darkness given the caverns's lack of light, with only the unlit fires remaining and the spells being hurled as the only thing lighting up for her to see.

As if it weren't enough, the world begun to spin and her feet turned lighter, thrown into a zero gravity that was revealed to be just her body sent out of the wagon once the gravitational pull returned. Or rather, she realized it begun to go downwards, with only one hand keeping her from the abyss beneath them, and a giant smile crossing her face as she turned up to see whose her savior.

"KYAAAA!" She couldn't hold it back, not when it felt so much like a dramatic fairy tale. Self-preservation kicked in for the puppet, lending another hand up to grasp their transport and, with the help of the black witch, send herself flopping onto the ground once again. "P-phew, just like that one time with Robo-mama, Kyanna's here to save Tock!"

The ravenous bats Kyanna brought forth helped chipping down their pursuer, tearing at it's flesh and opening new wounds that forced it to pull it's hand back, exposing much of the forearm for Eva's bullet hell- There was not a pleasant sound escaping from it's blackened jaws. Pain or anger, one could not tell given the ferocity within it's glowing orbs. Yet the distance begun to grow bigger and bigger as it begun to slow down.

As each bullet pierced and even it's own resilience quivered at the weight of both gunpowder and toxin alike, with more than enough holes and lead cast into it's arm, one could hear the whimpers of a wounded beast that tried it's hardest to bring chase. The Left arm stands eager, and yet the right lags behind with every thrust onto the ground, until the pace was lost, and it's face vanished behind as the blinding orange on the skies alerted them of the outside world.

"Gah! Tick burns! No respite after all that?!" A cat's hiss escaping her lips, pulling from the reigns to halt the horses before they could go flying down the mountain, turning back to watch with horror at the group. "...Err, did Tick mention it's rented?" Leave aside everyone's looks, which were downright horrible as if they had just woken up from a nightmare, but their transport sure looked like it went through hell with all the black, charred spots.

"Nice work..."

Thomas gave a pat over to Eva's shoulder, weary expression left the beast man dropping down his seat once again, with his heart racing and the prospect of safety keeping him busy from the road. It didn't help to hear the monstrous echo of a roar from whence they came, as if it were dropping a curse on the party for their transgressions.

"Well now we know what the stories are about, right..?"

Far from a demon, but perhaps closest to one in metaphor given how outlandish it looked, and yet a tingle of guilt after these words reminded him of his habit of pulling badly-timed jokes...

As the pull from the wagon starting to move once again at a far more tranquil pace, Tock rushed over to collide with Kyanna onto a hug, squeezing her with concern and as much strength as the puppet could. "Thanksies for saving me, Tick would have been very sad to have to turn back to find Tock if she fell!"

Now the views were inverted, with the world feeling so small from up there, and even the watchtower did so too. Even if an identical one stood right infront of the group. While certainly maintained, there was a sense of loneliness to it. Partially because everyone knew this was supposed to be abandoned, yet the coldness struck a cord on Thomas the most as he squinted to notice a crystal standing right next to the door.

One Kyanna and Eva would be able to identify as the same one they found on top of Thomas's tower.

"So that's why we couldn't use the quick route up here... Maybe it doesn't work anymore?"

"Well, we can find out soon enough."

"Hmmm... Tick thinks we should have a break, don't we? Mama's an expert camper Tick heard, we should have a camp set up easy peasy after we check the tower!" Tick pointed out, finally halting the horses once again and jumping out of the wagon, leaving the 'find guardian' business aside to check out on Eva. "Did you break your arm, mama? Tick saw that fancy shootin' you just did." She winked back, shaking her finger-guns around to mimic the LMG's recoil. "But where you pulled that up from?! What you trying to hunt down with that? An elephant? Tax collectors?"

Just like it's twin, this tower had a cauldron sitting to it's side, where once a fire was lit, pointing out by the ashes present. The sturdy door that kept them barred from entering the building, however, was locked, and there didn't seem to be any clues as to where the key could be. The outside of the tower didn't offer much, but a set of faded horse tracks that didn't just leave but also arrived. Which came first though was harder to determine at this point, other than these were far from a few days old. Hours rather.

Kyanna showed a faint smile to Tock when she looked grateful as the little witch pulled her away from the abyss, and reminded Kyanna of the time they saved @Tick Tock from Szofrit's claws- Albeit there was a hint of sadness in her expressions, knowing that while they managed to do something about it, Kyanna had ran away from the puppet girls when they were in a bad situation.

These expressions, however, faltered when she saw @Eva being thrown out of the wagon as well, "Eva-!" Her heart nearly leaped out of her chest, watching the older woman dangling on the weapon while the demon only neared more and more-

The bites of the bats and the bullets of the gun soon got the creature to lose some of its gas, disrupting its pursuit while Kyanna turned to look at Tick, that had just slipped the comical relief sentence as they finally escaped the deadly threat. "Rented?! Well- We will owe a lot of apologies, and a lot of gold too-" She sighed, widening her eyes when Tock went for a tight hug, that despite being tight, Kyanna returned, rather fondly as well. "I would've been very sad too, that's why I did it... Be a little more careful next time, okay?" She smiled to the puppet, and returned her eyes to Eva.

"You too, Eva! I thought you would be a goner-" Her lips pursed.

"But you are very die hard, aren't you? You need to teach me where you can find these guns in this world. They look very useful." She said, still shaky, but relieved overall.

She then turned to Thomas, pondering about it. "At least we know we should be extra careful on our next steps... Uhm... Where is the owl?" Kyanna looked around, wondering where her small animal companion for this travel was in.

After what seemed to be an eternity of holding on to the wagon and shooting the whole box of ammunition, they finally stepped out into the light, the creature nowhere to be seen. What business does it have lurking in this very tunnel?

As everyone hopped off, Eva retracted her grappling hook and let go of the gun, which was producing a lot of smoke.

"Did you break your arm, mama? Tick saw that fancy shootin' you just did."

"As a matter of fact, I think dislocated both of my shoulders."
The tone was straight, but her expression was slightly pained as Eva tried to slowly reach into her pouch to take some pain-inhibiting injector, immediately administering it to her right thigh.

"But where you pulled that up from?! What you trying to hunt down with that? An elephant? Tax collectors?"

"Just a contingency plan. Magia attack part two, for example." She bluntly admitted, pointing back and forth to Tick and then Tock. Last time, she failed to stop the twins, causing the total destruction of the city. Figured that more dakka would be a solution next time.

"But you are very die hard, aren't you?"

"Don't know about that one, I seemed to be one inch into death back there." Eva joked dryly.

"You need to teach me where you can find these guns in this world. They look very useful."

"It was a prototype I repaired from one of the magia wrecks near Vintegard, assembled to mimic what we have in the real world, alas..."

Her eyes motioned toward the dropped mounted gun, its barrel overheated and destroyed into a petal-like shape. Either the gun couldn't handle the automatic fire, the caliber was too much, or Kyanna's mushroom added too much firepower into each bullet. Even though she had perfectly calculated it. Probably one of the weird rules of this universe?

"... It was no more. Not a big problem. Anyway, Tick is right, we should rest up and be prepared for what's next."

Slowly moving her hand to open her UI, various containers and boxes began to appear around her, and even tents. After finishing, she began to investigate the clues and the tracks, before a weird revelation came to her. "Peculiar. Those tracks are fresh, not even a day old." It's harder to know how old exactly the tracks were without the help of a hunting mastery, but at the very least she knew that not a day had passed since it either left or arrived.

But Thomas lost contact with the guardian here two days ago.

The inventor turned to the white-haired tower guardian, asking him a question. "Is there anyone who is known to visit and leave this place with a horse?"

Tock giggled, a delayed, confused look following as Kyanna mentioned her owl, that one flying pest that pecked her in the past. "Oooh the owl... Tock don't know, maybe it didn't follow because of the big nasty monster?" Animals and their sixth sense for danger... Or maybe it was simply a territory matter and it knew better than to follow the trespassers.

"Oho, but now the gun did boom. It's okay mama, we can rebuild it later. But now...-" Tick paused, cracking her knuckles as her eyes were set onto the woman's shoulders, which weren't in that much of a predicament given she simply shrugged it off with her painkiller injections. "Want Tick to perform some shiatsu on you, mama? Tick's got the gorilla grip to crack the marrow back where it belongs." She smiled, her fingers contorting and bending on ways it wouldn't be possible for any but a magia.

Priorities had her helping Eva with the overwhelming amount of stuff she begun to summon out of thin air, dodging as objects begun to materialize to grant them a small-sized camp for them to work on. "Do you have a bonfire burning in there too?!" Tick protested as she rolled beneath one of the tents to push it up and above from the ground.

Thomas set her sights on the skies as he searched for the owl the witch spoke of, her ears flickering once Eva begun some detective work of her own, tracing back to the discovered tracks, frowning as the lack of footprints became explicitly obvious.

"...There is a village not so far from here, full of these sunclaws I think? They rarely paid Rhela a visit, since she was in good terms with them. But they wouldn't use horses, right?"

He couldn't say for certain, given how naturalistic both caenis clans tend to be, so that at least discards a possibility. But if someone came over and didn't just try to break in...

"I don't understand. It doesn't look like bandits raided the towe. She could have warned me if something happened, or even used the magic rails to reach me. This just doesn't make any sense."

Sitting down by the edge of the stairs leading to the door, his head hanging low as the tower only gave them more questions than answers, even if there was the chance of some of them to be inside. The lack of a struggle or the way the crystal rests against the wall at his side only prove she wasn't anywhere near, and the tracks prove as much too.

"Hmmm, Tock thinks resting is a good idea too." She nodded along, gently bumping her elbow against Kyanna's side. "And no one's against it, yup yup, so Tock votes for Tock and Kyanna to go collect branches or something. We won't go far, maybe that nosy bird shows up!" Tock exclaimed, with Tick scratching at her temples at the idea.

Not the camping part, but the 'going out together' part, squinting at all the supplies around them.

"You don't go too far, hm?" She leaned closer to her twin, eyeing the witch for a moment before her voice lowered to but a whisper. "Tick will be watching..." Severe, but nothing that would make Tock flinch, besides the distrust her sister showed.

Truth to be said, she was far more worried over Kyanna getting pestered with all that 'date' non-sense when they all needed a well deserved break, specially her, who became a roasted mushroom for a moment.

"True, I could use some rest. Aaaand maybe I do my special stew again for the night. Let's set everything up, I'll help."

He straightened back up, excitement loosening his shoulders once again as he glanced over to the tower, then back to the steamroll of supplies they had gotten. It almost made him too self-aware of how important the UI could be, even if using it was far from happening anytime soon.

"Ooh... Hmm... It is so weird that those magias, that are supposed to be landers, had a very similar technology to what we have... While at the same time more advanced... And at the same time... Not really?" It was hard to explain.

Kyanna winced at the mention of dislocated shoulders, nearing @Eva when letting go of Tock and pursing her lips. "Do you need help to take care of it?" She asked, even as the woman was already injecting some alchemicals to herself. And with Tick's offer, perhaps it was better to let them take care of it themselves, even if she remained with an attention raised at the surroundings.

"Still, it was pretty cool. Eva is so badass." Kyanna said, with a hint of admiration and jealousy. But honestly, using guns wasn't really her type of approach.

Her lips pursed at the general information, however, with Eva's questions and Thomas' answers making her chest feel tight. "If something happened and she didn't warn you, there are only two chances: Either she just didn't want to warn you, or something caught her too quick for her to do anything, and left no trace... Both sound concering." Kyanna's expressions turned a bit droopy, at least until Tock elbowed her.

She smiled faintly to her, nodding. "Okay, okay. Let's go get some branches." She giggled, seeing @Tick Tock, and noticing the whispers of Tick, giving her a grateful gaze.

"Maybe it will be a good chance to find the owl again, yeah." Kyanna muttered, not wanting to lose the bird's sight. "I will be looking forward the special stew!" The witch called, and then looked at Tock, offering her an arm. "Let's go?"

"Pass,"

She flatly declined, looking at the uncomfortably contorting fingers before reassuring the witch beside her. "Don't worry, Kyanna. It'll get better shortly." The shoulders would not correct themselves, but they shouldn't spend too much energy right now for such trivial things.

Eva's response to Tick's protest was a mere "Unfortunately, no. I do have fuel, but not firewood." She wondered why she never saw players utilizing their inventory optimally like this. It's not rocket science and it has no downsides (except the weird slow debuff the game would apply to you, but easily avoidable by knowing the carry limit, and it's not much of an inconvenience anyway).

Turning to the worried Thomas, she simply stated a fact that might alleviate his concern. "At the very least, we know she was still here a few hours ago. No signs of violence nor resistance." Should they check the Sunclaw village after this? Or try and follow the tracks?

"Give me a second,"

While formulating a plan in her head, Eva went to the side of the wagon before suddenly slamming her own right shoulder onto it. After feeling the joint was back to where it should be, she proceeded to do the same thing to her left side. Probably hurt a lot if the painkiller didn't take its effect.

"Alright, let's get this camp set up. Be careful, you two."
Unpacking the box that she brought from Thomas' tower, she warned the two girls that were going to get some branches.
