Personality
Dana is a person sometimes described as having a religious devotion to her work. Investigation of and the attempt to understand the unknown keeps her mind occupied much of her waking (and unconscious) hours. Most of the time this is fairly harmless, resulting in her becoming lost in thought during a conversion. Other times it can result in her overworking herself to the point of passing out at her desk.
Dana uses her character of Pollux to release some of her pent up enthusiasm. As a result, Pollux as a persona is more talkative and high energy than her real life self.
Positive: Enthusiastic, Loyal, Dedicated
Negative: Absent-Minded, Clumsy, Ritualistic
Background
Dana grew up in a small town in West Virginia. Out there in Appalachia, the light of the towns wasn't nearly as bright, so the light pollution was next to nothing. On especially clear nights, Dana would stare in awe at the majesty that is the milky way as it stretches across the night's sky.
In grade school dana went on a field trip with her class to see the Green Bank Telescope, which had finished construction a few years prior to her birth. There she learned what it was to be an astronomer, someone who looked at the stars and desired to know more. to know what lied at that distant fusion powered light in the sky, as well as what lied beyond it. Dana had always known she wanted to dedicate her life to the stars; on that field trip, she learned how.
Dana was naturally gifted with the intelligence required to excel at the sciences. Natural talent however ultimately amounts to nothing if cultivated in an unsuitable environment. Realizing this, Dana's parents packed up their home and moved to the bustling city of Boston, Massachusetts. Differences in opinion on how to raise dana later resulted in her parents filing for divorce.
After high school, Dana was accepted into MIT where she studied both astrophysics and astronomy, eventually receiving a PhD in the former. After her graduate program Dana was scouted by a private research firm known as Liminal Systems, Inc. where she has been working the past 4 years.
Dana had seen the rumors about TerraSphere years ago, back when she was still a graduate student at MIT. The last thing she expected after seeing the news reports of it getting shut down 4 years ago was to receive an email from an old roommate, containing only the words "Try it out, I could see you enjoying it" and a glitchy qr code invite.
