Unfolding the Unknown
Somewhere far, far away...

It was chilly, though there wasn't a single wind brushing through the air.

The flower field shone as it was bathed with the silvery starry sky light, allowing it to sparkle gently as a woman and a girl walked through those fields, soon to approach a large tree by the end of the uphill.

The girl didn't waste time-

"Auntie, auntie! Look!" The girl called.

"Hmm..?" The woman peered over.

"I am a flower fairy!" The girl chirped, with her hair and horns covered by flower petals, as if she has just been showered by them.

A faint smile crossed her lips, and the woman turned to the girl. "A flower fairy." She muttered. "I hope this flower fairy didn't pluck those petals out of the flowers, but just picked up the ones that had fallen beneath them."

The girl averted her eyes.

"I figured..." She sighed.

"They uh... They didn't complain though! They said I could pick these up!" The girl defended herself.

"Oh, you spoke with the flowers? What a lovely story, maybe you should start telling stories from now and on." She shrugged.

"Eh?! Wait, no! You promised you would tell one when we got in here!" The girl panicked.

"I am just joking." She chuckled, kneeling on the flower bed and patting next to her. "Come."

"Auntie!" The panic disappeared just as abruptly as it occurred, and the pouty girl quickly rushed to sit next to her aunt.

Another fit of chuckles escaped from the woman's lips, and as soon as her niece was ready, she began: "In a beautiful land... Surrounded by wonders and ferocious beasts... A group of Starcalled had joined to go through its lands, to seek a very precious stone..."

VALLEY OF THE SUN
Morning
Weather: Sunny & Windy

The meeting spot was set in a particular Explorer Camp by the Valley of the Sun, a bit far from the usual core of the Sun Claw territory. There, the caenis figure that was patiently waiting for the group, swaying his double-tails while he fidgeted with some contraptions and adjusting some of his gear, sitting by a large rock.

His sensible ears, however, soon caught the sound of approaching footsteps, and he leaped out of the large rock he was sitting on, beaming a wide smile at each of you.

@Fiora Di Angelo

"You know, I've heard from some landers about this scary green-haired knife-eared Starcalled, that keep going around saving and escorting them to safety... Something like... 'The Green Devil', or something."

He squinted a bit, rubbing his chin as he feigned to be skeptical, soon letting out a laughter.

"Well, I do hope we have this guardian angel that is ironically called a 'devil' to be there for us whenever we need."

A grin was followed by a thumb up.

@Lune

"Hey there- Wait, you are that girl that likes rocks, right? Right?!"

He perked up, with ears raising and double-tails tails wagging like an excited canine.

"Aw man, you will love the moonstones we will get. I only saw a few from other Red Whistles that were making them in the Embertorch, and gosh, how pretty they look! But not only pretty, they are very very interesting-

You see, they have great importance in a lot of rituals and cultures, on top of having deep meanings such as insight clarity and change, linked to new starts and all, it is so meaningful, I love it so much!

It is also a symbol of hope, and metaphysically speaking it-"

And he never really stopped talking until he was called to do something else.

@Ueno Mizuki

"Mizuki, right? Gosh, you look like a Moon Fang... I wonder if it will be alright to traverse the Valley of the Sun... hmmm..."

He pondered, but then shrugged.

"But I figure you will be our main escort. I know what you did back there, with the magia chaos and that big mama-bot. Those attacks were scary! Hehe!""

Despite saying it was scary, he was excited when speaking about, opening his arms widely.

"Remind me to not get on your bad side, right?"

He winked.

@Luthien

"Ah! Luthien! Heeeello! ahem, I mean, Per aspera!"

Diego chirped with a salute to the fellow Red Whistle.

"Can you believe we will finally get our moonstones? I'm so excited! We will finally be Violet Whistles, gosh gosh! It took so long-"

He shook his head, hating that.

"But finally, we are here... And expect a long travel, I've heard from other Whistles that the Violet Whistle is where things start getting really serious."

A cold sweat ran down his forehead.

@Yugam

"Per Aspera, sir!"

He saluted for a moment, pausing and then giving in to the joy.

"I can't believe a Black Whistle will be guiding us, oh my, that's a lot of pressure, man man man!"

He fidgeted a bit, holding his cheeks.

"Ah man, but it is a Black Whistle, grrr- I'm so jealous, I want it I want it I want iiiit!"

He stomped the ground a couple times, and then looked at the man.

"Just you wait, this whistle will be mine very soon, sir!"

He huffed, determined.

After everyone finally arrived, and as soon as they were ready, the prodigy would gather everyone at the border of the Explorer Camp, offering a grin.

"Alright guys, just as a small introduction, as for... Uh... Explorers formalities-"

He glanced at Yugam, knowing he couldn't skip the boring part.

"This Expedition isn't a drill, but rather an official exploration to seek for moonstones, for the Red Whistles: Diego and Luthien, to craft their new whistles and conclude the rite of passage from Red to Violet Whistle."

He explained, gesturing for Luthien to introduce herself.

"For that, we will have the supervision of the Black Whistle: Yugam. And the unaffiliated witnesses: Fiora, Lune and Mizuki!"

He added, looking at the three of them, then saluting.

"Thank you very much for coming, and... The expedition is officially starting... Per Aspera!"

With the introduction being delivered, the group finally parted off to the depths of the Valley of the Sun. For starters, they would go take the easier travel, going on horseback all the way to a docile Sun Claw village near the Hyland Ascent, where they would need to rest their horses and proceed with the Expedition on foot.

"Hey there- Wait, you are that girl that likes rocks, right? Right?!"

Scoffing, the woman turned back to see who it was.

"No... but... yes..."

That's a massive oversimplification, as if saying that Thanos was a gem collector. Not entirely wrong, but the way the boy put it made it super uncool to hear. "Look, kid. I'm not interested in whatever you are..." Too late, Diego did not stop talking for at the very least two minutes, non-stop.

"Fine," Lune sighed, willing to entertain this kid with his expedition or something. Maybe moonstones are also suitable conduits for magic, who knows?

Arriving at the border of the Explorers Camp, she was already regretting her decision as soon as she saw the trio of Yugam, Luthien, and Fiora. Mizuki was fine, Lune saw the wolf's action both during the assault on Camp Hope and Dragonhead, and to be honest, the strength of that beastfolk alone was more than enough to carry this expedition forward.

Good thing Lune was looking vastly different now, like a different woman altogether. When the group is busy, she could pass a signal or two to Yugam about her identity...

"For that, we will have the supervision of the Black Whistle: Yugam. And the unaffiliated witnesses: Fiora, Lune and Mizuki!"

...Motherfu—

Okay, at least Fiora doesn't have any idea who Lune is. No reason for the other two to talk about it either. "Alright," Snapping her fingers to get the others' attention, she quickly brought out her commanding presence. "Let's get the expedition on the road, then."

"We'll need someone who's familiar with the region, the shortcuts; in and outs." She particularly looked at Mizuki, who eeriely looked like a caenis from Moon Fang Tribe. "Mark them on the map. Vanguard, scout for dangers and obstacles on at least two routes I designated.

"We stay in a close line formation,"
She patted one of the horses, before promptly climbing to its back, signaling the others to follow her. "Rather be safe than to be quick. Let's go."

It had been during the reconstruction of the Embertorch that Lúthien had become aware of a particular twin-tailed pup’s absence. It had felt weird to guide younger whistles through the restorative efforts of their HQ and not hear the vibrant and energetic voice of Diego somewhere in the halls, and while the whistles had shared many campfires together as they’d grown through the Explorer’s ranks he had seemingly never accepted her friend request.

This had prompted the ranger to ask her fellow whistles about him, though aside from mostly vague answers she’d been unable to find out much about the whereabouts of Diego. She knew his fighting style well, fierce and reckless, with a tenacity that always seemed to bring him back from the worst of situations even if it was by a thread… she could still remember hearing the last scolding Diego had received shortly after Camp Hope, and with how loud it had been she was sure other whistles had caught parts of it too.

Knowing what she did about her fellow red whistle perhaps it was no surprise that Lúthien had feared the worst, though those worries had been partly assuaged by Yugam after the man had mentioned not seeing anything in Diego’s file pertaining to the latest Szofrit disaster… with some luck he’d managed to miss out on the whole debacle and perhaps had just been temporarily out of commission due to a terrible bronchitis or something.

"Diego!?"

The delight on her face had been almost palpable upon confirming the tuft of blonde hair she’d spotted indeed belonged to the missing whistle, her voice carrying through the lobby and undoubtedly earning a few odd stares from the younger whistles around. She hadn’t cared however, happy to finally come across and catch up with an old friend, and after a bit of playful banter back and forth she had found out that Diego was also due to go get moonstones for his violet whistle—and the perfect excuse for an expedition was born.

"It’s been a while since we’ve visited the Hylands, huh?" A smile pulled at her lips as she spoke to @Yugam before Lúthien allowed herself a moment to enjoy the soft spring breeze that fluttered through the camp, reminiscing on the time they’d adventured through these lands. The first had been shortly after the events of Camp Hope, when little Haito had needed to be escorted back to the Sun Claws, though the most recent outing to the settlement had been to experience the New Year festival the son of the chieftain had raved about during their travels.

"I wonder who else he managed to rope into this expedition—"
"Ah! Luthien! Heeeello! ahem, I mean, Per aspera!"
"Per aspera, Diego~"

She barely managed to contain a giggle of her own as Lúthien finished her salute, a wide grin on her face as she listened to the excited ramblings of her fellow comrade. "Way too long if you ask me, but our paperwork finally went through. All that’s left is getting the perfect moonstones for our whistles~" A chuckle finally escaped her upon hearing the rumors Diego shared regarding the rank they would both be entering into, giving a side glance to the black haired man beside her as she spoke.

"You have nooo idea how right you are, Diego. Violet Whistles is the rank where we start being responsible for paperwork after all, and we both know how great our seniors are about getting through it on time…"

It was then she noticed the mahogany-haired human that had accompanied the caenis all the way to the camp, a casual nod of acknowledgement given to the woman while Diego turned his attention to the abyssalite whistle on Yugam’s neck. "Nice hair color~" Little did the ranger know that this player was someone she was very familiar with…

Eventually they had been joined by the last two members of their expedition, a faint wave given to @Mizuki as the familiar caenis came into view. Though they hadn't hung out much she had certainly crossed paths with the woman on multiple occasions, and as a result the caenis no longer felt like a stranger… though calling her a friend would be a little bit too daring. Her skills however were genuine and perfect for the task at hand today, and Lúthien couldn’t help the little thumbs up she quietly snuck to Diego to show her approval of his pick.

The same couldn’t be said when @Fiora had shown up though, the green-haired knight being one that Lúthien hadn’t heard or seen for a long time now… in-game or out of it. Her eyes had instantly averted themselves from Fio’s face as the blonde had stood slightly closer to Yugam, a hand unconsciously reaching out to hold onto a piece of the man’s jacket in an attempt to keep her emotions grounded.

A soft chirp erupted from within the fuzzy collar of her own jacket, before a small creature finally emerged from among the loose golden locks of hair. Its glowing eyes fluttered from once face to the next for the briefest of moments, before another soft thrill escaped it as Lúthien reached up to scratch under the chin of the little creature softly. "It’s okay Tirsk, they’re just friends..." Emphasis was made on the last word as she spoke, her eyes fixed on the recently hatched basilisk as she tried to drive the point home—these people, like Yugam and even Tubby, were off-limits for the little one.

It was then Diego decided to finally start up the motors for their expedition, taking the metaphorical spotlight first as the red whistle thanked those present for coming and introduced himself… before gesturing for Lúthien to do the same. "R-Right!" She’d been caught off-guard and it showed, the blonde taking a moment to compose herself right as the young basilisk slithered back into its favorite hiding place once more.

"I’m Lúthien, a fellow Red Whistle, and I’m here today in search of moonstones for our rite of passage." She chose to focus her gaze on the only face of the group that probably had no clue as to who the blonde was, while a conscious effort was made to not look in the direction of a certain sword for hire. "A big thanks to everyone for taking time to help us on this expedition."

With that she took a step back, content to let Diego finish the introductions, and that’s when the twin-tailed caenis dropped an unexpected nugget of information. "For that, we will have the supervision of the Black Whistle: Yugam. And the unaffiliated witnesses: Fiora, Lune and Mizuki!" Crimson eyes widened in surprise before they shot right back towards the mahogany-haired woman, now revealed to be no other than @Lune.

What the…! She looked completely different to the blue-haired version Lúthien had seen within Dee’s dreamworld or the battlefield in Vintergard and, if her eyes weren't playing tricks on her, it seemed like Lune was slightly taller than the elf now. A quiet sigh escaped her lips as the blonde’s gaze stole a side glance towards her boyfriend...

Was this his work again?

The windy Valley of The Sun. Of course, anything on Hylands would be a little colder in comparison to the more tropical biomes she often traveled at. She was no stranger to cold, but the sheepskin jacket in her inventory did wonders to keep herself padded enough against the elements, with long pants filled with pockets keeping her lower body warm enough, but all at once giving her a distinctive Traveler look to her fashion in general.

Fortunately for her, she didn't come late enough to hear the words 'Moonstone' out of the caenis's lips, and while the redhead didn't seem very interested on the talk, Fiora stepped in to pick up on every detail he would drop, theoretical or not, about their objective for today's expedition, a brow perking up at these rumours and the weird title Landers apparently gave her, 'Green Devil', but his skepticism seemed to come with a thumbs up afterwards.

Thankfully, he wasn't one to fall for that kind of non-sense.

"All I ask in exchange is to procure a few Moonstones for myself." She nodded, casting a glance over to the group then back to Diego. "Do your part, and I'll do mine." Because of course, it would get hostile in the way there. Just like every single group she travels with.

This one was peculiar however, given the participants didn't all ring a bell. The wolf-folk girl simply called 'Mizuki', according to the blonde kid, was similar to the Moonfang. That couldn't be good whatsoever for first impressions within this tribe's domain.

A redhead geologist and a wolf girl ressembling a member of a hostile tribe. If this didn't scream starcalled, nothing did.

Fiora sat over against the stone the Explorer jumped out of, the screech of brandished steel echoing for a second as Last Hope rested on her grasp with the point aimed downwards. Her left hand quickly scouted through her UI to find a sharpening stone to, without further adue, begin to help with the bastard sword's edge.

Swching!

Each stroke more concentrated than the last, experienced from constant repetition, working on one side first before the second, given the double-edged nature of the blade. Golden iris set onto Diego as the caenis explained the minuscule details of their little official adventure for the explorers and gave a name to each member.

"Thank you very much for coming, and... The expedition is officially starting... Per Aspera!"

With that, Fiora stashed the whetstone away and sheathed her sword again, hopping off the rock and setting her sight upon Yugam and Luthien as the elf approached the pair while her right hand closed into a fist and opened her UI once again.

"Yugam." She called out with a voice as dead as nature within Vintergard. Just one name and it was clear to tell the difference between Nico and her ever since Finweald.

Finally something materialized on her grasp, switching to hold it by the barrel instead before offering the grip of his revolver back at him. The same one he gave her that fateful day before they parted ways. Peerless. It was easy to tell she had gone as far as to maintain the gun in peak condition, and only one bullet was missing in the chamber.

Her eye caught up to Luthien afterwards, holding her stare for no less than a second, but the blonde could tell something else was gazing through her. Whatever the ranger had felt time ago in the assault to the dragonship, it had gone quiet by now, but not the anger. It was as calm and wretched as ever, but when Fiora turned away, so did this aura, despite there always being the sensation of another eye stalking her.

Watching her.

"You are an explorer. So I take it you know something about the route you plan for us to take.." She asked over to Diego. Despite how everyone seemed ready to begin organizing and creating directions, he was the only one with a clue here as for the whereabouts of these stones, and thus, where exactly they would go to.

Her only worries as she climbed up her horse rested on Mizuki. Her looks would become troublesome within that village, and she could only hope they wouldn't get their path blocked or worse. The last they need is two hostile furry associations tailing on them because one ressembles a violent dog, and the violent dogs would still attack them anyways.

Explorers League

"It's been a while since we've visited the Hylands, huh?" Luthien said as the pair approached the meeting place together. "Yeah. That was...and interesting little adventure," Yugam replied. Delivering presents, sitting down and sharing a meal with the locals, getting their caravan blown up and everyone teleported randomly all across Arcia. Just another day for the Explorers...

"Per Aspera, sir!" The customary Explorers League greeting (well, about as customary as a bunch of free-spirited explorers could achieve) broke Yugam's train of thought as they arrived.
"Per Aspera," Yugam answered back, saluting as well.

"I can't believe a Black Whistle will be guiding us, oh my, that's a lot of pressure, man man man!" the younger whistled said, his hands pressing his cheeks together, almost making him look like a fish as he stomped back and forth in front of Yugam. "Ah man, but it is a Black Whistle, grrr- I'm so jealous, I want it I want it I want iiiit! Just you wait, this whistle will be mine very soon, sir!"

Yugam's open hand came down swiftly and gently, karate chopping the caenis softly on the top of his head. "Relax, kid," Yugam said decidedly less energetic when compared to the boy. "If you're half the Whistle I've heard about, you'll do fine," he assured him.

Soon enough everyone had arrived. Pretty much everyone, Yugam knew. All except one burgundy haired woman. But even though the man had yet to speak to her, Yugam couldn't shale the feeling that he should know her somehow. The way she carried herself was all too familiar...

The other caenis though, Yugam was acquainted with. "Mizuki," Yugam greeted her with a nod. "Good to see you again," though if he could have expected anyone to make it through the last few months relatively okay, it'd have been her. Anyone who'd dived as deep into Vintergard as they had had already proven that they could take care of themselves well enough. "I gotta admit, I'm a little surprised though. Here to watch, or you lookin' for some moonstone as well?"

Soon enough it was time to get going, and Diego took the lead on commencing the expedition. Yugam stood just off to the side as the caenis boy spoke and went about the formalities, and introducing everyone. "For that, we will have the supervision of the Black Whistle: Yugam. And the unaffiliated witnesses: Fiora, Lune and Mizuki!"

Crimson eyes flicked over to the only person here he didn't know at sight. 'When'd she do that?' the man thought to himself, brows furrowing, only to have a nosy spirit reply. 'I dunno. Guess she didn't like your work.'
'Shut up,'
the man replied to the cheeky spirit before taking a brief moment to address everyone else.

"Just to be a hundred percent clear, I am just here to observe and make sure no one eats it today," Yugam said, looking specifically at the two Red Whistles. "Unless one of you two are about to die, I won't be stepping in." Red eyes shifted once more to the other three. "And I don't need to worry about you guys. But just in case, don't wander off."

A voice caught his attention as the group set off.

Ah, Fiora.

Yugam walked over, hands in his pockets as he approached. He was still uncertain as to where exactly he now stood with Fiora. Not good, but did that descend all the way to the 'bad' territory? The uncertainty made Yugam feel awkward, so he said nothing.

The brief tell tale glow of light appeared as Fiora summoned something very familiar from her inventory. His pistol. Eyes flicked from it, to Fiora, and back to the revolver before the man finally reached out and took it, returning it to it's place in his holster alongside it's twin. "Thanks for taking care of it for me."

Scouting Ahead

Mizuki felt the chilly mountain air of the Hylands fill her lungs as she inhaled, a refreshing sensation which made her tail swish from side to side. The sight before her was one she'd become quite familiar with ever since Terrasphere had become accessible once again: a mountainous region far above the clouds, which in the distance turned into a fertile valley.

When she wasn't busy with something down below in Astorea she'd often head to the Hylands, immersing herself in the environment where the native caenes lived. The Sun Claw weren't always equally accommodating, but if she had to choose her favourite place to be this was a serious contender nonetheless.

Her packmates agreed with that assessment: their tails were wagging as they sniffed the air as well, the only thing keeping them from running off and exploring the place by themselves being Mizuki's clear command for them to stick together as they approached the meeting spot. From the sounds of it the rest had already arrived, so Mizuki couldn't afford to waste time letting the other two wolves run around on their own.

Most of the scents she picked up were familiar, but there was one which was wholly foreign to her and two which she couldn't immediately place. There was no surprise on her face as she joined the others and saw @Luthien and @Yugam: scent aside, the two of them had a habit of showing up in these kinds of situations. Which was a good thing, since even if you were familiar with the Hylands you wouldn't want to even get close to the Moonfall unless you had competent companions who knew how to work together, which the elf and the human certainly did. She raised her hand to answer Luthien's greeting, one of her wolves walking over towards the elf and sniffing her before licking her hand and returning to the caenis's side. It was the same wolf which had guarded Luthien for some time during the fight against Szofrit, and clearly he remembered her.

Yugam's greeting was more verbal, which meant that the wildling would respond in kind, nodding back at him and showing a small smile.

Likewise. From the looks of it you and Luthien are doing well. (She tilted her head at his question, then shrugged.) I like it up here, so I regularly check if the guild has any jobs I can take. Looks like someone wants to make sure that the young one makes it out of this alive. But if these moonstones really are unusual I might grab one as well.

From how she understood it the tradition was for Whistles to acquire the materials for their next rank without external assistance, or at the very least to not have Adventurers do all the work. However, after the final battle with the Dissonance'd magia had resulted in so much death and destruction some people felt like it was more important to keep the death tally from rising than for talented hopefuls to push themselves to the limits.

Diego was one of the scents which Mizuki didn't recognise. Her mismatched eyes went to his two tails, a puzzled expression on her face before the other caenis noticed her presence and interrupted his explanation of these special moonstones to greet her. His first words did make her smile widen, although as he expressed some concern she shook her head.

Greetings Diego. I wouldn't worry too much about that. Sun Claw may not like Moon Fang, but one thing they pride themselves on is that unlike the Moon Claw they don't attack on sight. I've dealt with them before: they'll be wary, but since I'm not as hostile as most Moon Fang they put up with me.

She reached out and scratched one of her wolves behind the ears as Diego went off about how he'd seen her fight against the magia, her packmate eagerly accepting the affectionate gesture while Mizuki raised an eyebrow at the Whistle's words.

Thanks for the compliment. Hopefully we won't have to deal with anything like that this time around, but yes, I'll do my best to get us all in and out of here alive. (She glanced at everyone else present) Not that anyone here really needs my help in a fight.

Not everyone was familiar to her, but the two others she didn't know looked like they could handle themselves.

The purple-haired human Diego had been talking to about the moonstones was... vaguely familiar. Well, Mizuki wouldn't have been able to place her appearance if her life depended on it, but her scent... Probably one of the many people who'd participated in the fight against Szofrit. When so many things were going on at the same time you couldn't memorise everyone involved, which meant that for the moment @Lune flew under her radar.

The green-haired elf was a similar case. Her appearance was completely foreign to Mizuki, but her scent triggered something in the back of the caenis's mind, even if it was too vague and non-decisive to be useful. Granted, that might also be because the sound of @Fiora Di Angelo sharpening her sword was making her fur stand on end. Her packmates also were uncomfortable with it, the three of them having their ears tucked back as they tried their best to tune out the sharp noise.

In any case, Mizuki greeted the two of them with a nod and a raised hand to acknowledge their presence before squatting down as Diego moved on from greeting everyone individually and explained in short why they were here and what they were doing. As the blonde caenis talked Mizuki fished some jerky out of her pouch, feeding it to her packmates who, unsurprisingly, showed little interest in Diego's words. The wildling herself was more attentive, looking pensive as Diego named the three non-Whistles. Lune and Fiora... similar to the scent, a faint feeling of recognition, but nothing concrete.

Lune did quickly take charge of the expedition once Diego had finished saying his piece, the female human stepping forward as if it was the most natural thing in the world. Mizuki gave both her packmates a quick lick before standing up, nodding as she was addressed.

That'll be me then. Of course, I'll have to check which shortcuts still exist.

In a mountainous region you couldn't just assume that a path which had been there a month before was still open. The top of the Hylands wasn't as bad as the Ascent or the Godwreathe, but it was still a valid concern even there.

Using her Primal Aura to tell her packmates to follow she walked past the horses. While they were well-trained they still would be uncomfortable around Mizuki's pack, which meant she'd have to use her own feet.

We'll be going up ahead. Stick together and be careful.

After a brief stretch she shifted from a bipedal to a quadrupedal stance, slamming her furred and clawed hands against the grounds. With her packmates by her side she entered a run, leaving the rest of the group behind as she got to work scouting the way. The map Lune referred to had been fairly thorough, but you never knew.

@Lune's indifference to Diego's words didn't stop him from continuing to talk, but in the end it seemed that @Fiora Di Angelo was the one who truly was the rock-appreciator, since she voiced her interest. @Yugam's attempt to relax him were to no avail, at least until @Luthien's mentioned paperwork, making the boy shudder and whistle, feigning blissful ignorance regarding the topic. @Ueno Mizuki's reassurance was an unexpected one, making the boy smile that the most ferocious looking one was who made his anxiety fade a bit.

@Yugam's words made him wide his eyes open.

"Wow sir, you are sure strict! You would really let the two of us get hurt?" He tugged @Luthien closer, making a hurt puppy face, before letting her go and grinning. "That was a good introduction, by the way."

He turned to @Fiora Di Angelo.

"Yes and no!" He responded, way too confident for an uncertain answer. "I only know as far as the maps have told me, and of course-"

He gestured at @Ueno Mizuki.

"- As much as she knows." He nodded, peeking at her and leaning in. "You know enough to not get us killed, right?" He muttered, letting it sink in before letting out a joke to show he was just joking (kinda).

Diego then jolted at @Lune's orders, grinning.

"That's the spirit! Let's go!" He nodded, peeking at her and leaning in. "Even if we don't know the way and get lost, it doesn't matter. That's the fun of exploring!"

He laughed heartily, rushing to get on his horse, with others awaiting for the rest of the group.

"What's wrong? You look like you've seen a ghost." The question aimed at the surprised @Luthien had the slight coldness Lune showed in their dream encounters many moons ago. She just nodded towards @Yugam with a simple "Yo."

"Thank you, report back when you can, @Ueno Mizuki. We'll be moving at a steady pace in the meantime." She nodded to the Alpha who left with her packmates to scout forward to verify her concerns about unavailable shortcuts and blocked-off routes.

The expedition has just started, but danger can come anytime. She asked @Fiora Di Angelo casually, without getting too friendly to be too suspicious. "Seen anything dangerous around?"

Looking at the map to confirm the route once more, Lune raised her left eyebrow, turning to Diego (@Chanlye). "Isn't this kind of exploration quite dangerous? How old are you, kid?" She glanced for a second toward the blonde elf while asking him a follow-up question. "But how much fun is worth risking a life?"

"Yeah, we've been doin' alright," Yugam replied to Mizuki. "And feel free to take as many as you'd like. Assuming we come across any, that is." They would they were explorers after all, finding the unseen was kind of in their job description, more or less. It might take them a while, but they'd find some eventually. Yugam just hoped that Mizuki packed a bag.

"Wow sir, you are sure strict! You would really let the two of us get hurt?"
"Just ask Luth, I'm way less strict usually. I do believe personal experience is the best teacher though. But I'm drawin' the line at maimed or seriously injured,"
Yugam replied to Diego as the party began their venture out. "If I think things are starting to get dicey and someone is actually in any serious danger, I'll step in. But, if you two keep an eye out, there won't be any need for that, will there?" There would be. At least two of the people here had some of the worst luck Yugam had ever had the displeasure of experiencing. But Diego didn't need to worry about that, he had something else he needed to be focusing on.

"Hello again, glad to see you’re well~" She couldn’t help the genuine smile that crossed her lips as one of the wolves that accompanied @Mizuki stepped towards her. She pulled off the glove on her right hand before offering it to the wolf as they approached, a giggle escaping as they licked her palm, before Lúthien allowed her fingers to softly caress the side of their head and neck softly. "Thank you for protecting me."

Her hand retracted as the wolf began to head back to Mizuki’s side, quietly slipping her glove back on as she listened to the conversation and nodded along. "Who knows, maybe we’ll find some special ones? That said, they're very pretty~" A finger tapped the polished gemstone safely nestled in the choker she’d received from Yugam, the stone acting as a focus whenever she tapped into the mana of the World.

"What's wrong? You look like you've seen a ghost."
"Yeah, one that apparently enjoys changing colors a lot."

Yup, that was definitely Lune—no doubt about it. Her appearance was different from the last time Lúthien had seen the woman, though the attitude definitely remained. Why she insisted to change her looks so frequently was something the blonde couldn’t understand, a quiet sigh leaving lips before she offered a faint smile. "Glad to see you’re still in one piece."

"Yugam."

Lune’s voice might’ve held a certain chilliness to it, but the title of Ice Queen would fall upon @Fiora as an involuntary shiver ran up the ranger’s spine. Crimson eyes shifted to look at the greenette that approached them and, and while her face gave the façade of being neutral as the exchange was completed, perceptive eyes might’ve caught the way Lúthien’s jaw tensed and shifted as the elf quietly chewed the inside of her cheek. Their eyes finally met and, while the connection had lasted but a moment, it had been more than enough to confirm what the blonde had already known but hadn’t wanted to admit.

This wasn’t the same Fiora that she’d adventured with back in Lübeck, just like the player behind the avatar wasn’t the same Nico she’d exchanged presents with on Christmas morning. There was an anger that lingered around the knightess too, subdued compared to the emotions she’d felt from Fiora during the assault, but it was the calmness that clung to the edges around it that concerned Lúthien the most.

A sharp hiss echoed close to her ear as the small form of the basilisk shifted against her neck, the breath Lúthien held onto finally released as the aura that washed over her finally moved away. "Shhh, it’s alright Tirsk…" She tried to soothe the creature with words as a hand rose to softly scratch them on the side of their head, the soft croom that escaped being a good sign, though even the welcomed distraction wasn’t enough to ease the tightness in her chest… or the unsettling feeling that she was being watched.

"Wow sir, you sure are strict! You would really let the two of us get hurt?" It was then she noticed @Diego come closer once more, the fellow whistle tugged at her before flashing a hurt puppy face towards @Yugam. "Right? I think someone’s been hanging out with Beleg too much lately."

She did her best to play along, though anyone that knew the elf well enough would’ve noticed her heart wasn’t fully in it at the time. The caenis’ hurtful façade soon came to a close as Yugam clarified how much physical danger he’d allow either whistle to get into before drawing the line, before Diego’s attention turned to Lúthien with a vibrant grin as he paid her a compliment. "Thanks, but praise alone won’t let you off the hook though." A light wink accompanied the jestful words, though the smile that crossed her lips didn’t seem to reach all the way into her eyes.

"Alright, let's get the expedition on the road, then."

As @Lune called for their attention the elf was unable to hide the light frown that crossed her face, unamused by the snapping fingers of the woman even if she did have a point. Mizuki was the first to respond, the caenis already on her feet and ready to head out with her packmates, just as Lúthien was headed towards her own horse. "I’ll keep an eye out on the surroundings while they’re running ahead on the trail." A hand made a few gestures in the air, before an apple suddenly appeared and landed on her palm.

Something sweet to hopefully ease any worries the animal might’ve had about its new rider, the ranger making sure to stroke the animal’s neck softly as she held up the treat for it to eat. It wasn’t much, but hopefully just enough to start a bond between them… or at the very least keep it from bucking her off at the first minor inconvenience. By the time the horse finished its treat and Lúthien climbed onto the saddle Mizuki had finished warming up, the caenis shifting to a quadrupedal stance before taking off with her packmates in tow.

"If we find anything I’ll call back to you guys," She tapped her temple a few times to try and drive the message home, but with no time to spare (not if she wanted to keep up with Mizuki) she’d have to trust Yugam to fill in the blanks for the rest. Her calves pressured the sides of the horse, signaling it was time to go, and soon enough the pair trotted off .

{ Lúthien here, } A short telepathic message was sent to the caenis when she finally caught sight of them, giving Mizuki a moment to adjust before continuing. { If you’re within thirty feet I can keep us connected with the rest of the group. }

Luck. That was basically what Diego tried to explain to her with his blind confidence. He relied on someone else to do his job. Her eye went over to Mizuki once gestured at, her gaze squinting a little to get a better look at the woman. He didn't introduce her as one of the explorers, so in short, he relied on blind luck from having his request picked up by someone with experience on the Hylands in the first place.

No wonder explorers love their death mottos, but perhaps that changed a little with Embertorch's luck running out as of late as a form of foreshadowing.

Fiora turned her attention over to Lune instead, who decided to stick with the group instead of heading over to the front. "If there's anything dangerous around, I'm sure the other two would have caught up to it." Her horse suddently came to a stop, the elf set a glare over the animal as she noticed it cower on it's place as soon as she intended to make a different move and rely on something other than mere sight.

"Right." Animals didn't like it when she did that. They become either hostile or uncooperative in general, a detriment given the lack of a horse means having to do everything on foot. Without thinking it twice, Fiora dismounted and begun to walk in direction to the scouting duo that went ahead, thankful on the fact Mizuki was the first to get out sight given she's the one with beasts tagging along.

Behind the hairbangs hiding the socket without an eye, embers formed into a concentrated dot, and her aura begun to spread around her on a radius, the invisible force would continue to grow larger and larger the more she concentrated. It worked as a magical sonar that would let her know when something capable of emotion collides with each wrathful wave it sent through the air every five seconds.

It helped her to keep an eye on any threats, aswell as their two scouts, however that may affect them.

"Nothing." She took a deep breath, closing her eyes momentarily to hold her aura stable.

Scouting Ahead

We'll have to see whether we can find any, and how many. Since we're here for the two of them to craft their new whistles the rest of us will just have to see what's left for us.

Mizuki nodded towards Diego (@Chanlye) and @Luthien in response to @Yugam's words. Despite having traversed the Hylands quite a few times by this point she'd never really paid attention to these special moonstones, so she was mostly curious about what they would be like. If there weren't enough for all of them that'd be the end of it.

The conversation between @Fiora Di Angelo and Diego caught her attention once the two-tailed caenis referred to her, the luna wolf raising an eyebrow as the young explorer jokingly asked whether she knew enough to keep the bunch of them alive.

As long as everyone pays attention, yes. The Valley of the Sun is pretty safe, but the rest of the Hylands won't cut you any slack.

The studious gaze the green-haired elf gave her made Mizuki look back at her for a moment, wondering what Fiora might be looking for before returning her attention to the expedition which was now officially getting started. @Lune received a short nod in response before the wildling left the rest of the expedition team behind, much to the relief of the horses who weren't too happy with a wolfpack in such close proximity.

While she did her best to do her part in all the social interactions she couldn't deny that she felt more comfortable now that she was scouting, feeling the ground pressing against her padded hands and feet and her two packmates following behind her, each of them paying close attention to their surroundings. While the two wolves made sure that nothing dangerous would approach them unnoticed Mizuki kept her focus on the path, checking for any obstacles or difficult terrain that would get in the way of the rest of the group. Once they reached the valley proper things should be easy, but first they'd have to get through this more mountainous region where the path could be treacherous.

She was already heading towards one of the shortcuts she knew of to verify whether it was usable for a group of mounted travellers when she suddenly heard a voice in her head, introducing itself as Luthien. The wildling quickly came to a halt, her packmates turning their gaze outwards in case their leader had sensed something dangerous. After using her Primal Aura to reassure the two wolves Mizuki looked back towards Luthien, frowning as the ranger suggested that she kept close so they could directly communicate with the group.

For her to properly scout ahead she'd have to precede the group by hundreds of meters depending on the terrain, so if she had to stay within 15 feet for Luthien to be able to communicate with her... Did she have some way of telepathically communicating with the group over longer distances? Possibly some contact with Yugam, since the two of them were always together.

After giving it several seconds of thought Mizuki shook her head and answered with her Primal Aura, shooting her intent back at the elf.

Stay close, be careful.

If Luthien wanted to act as a relay between the scouts and the rest of the expedition that was her choice to make. Mizuki would just have to try and move at a pace that the horse would be able to keep up.

Diego looked at the group he had gathered with a confident grin over his lips. If anything, he seemed rather satisfied at who he had gathered, and even if anxiety crawled in his chest as it was clear in his eyes at the start of their meeting, he surely felt much more at ease now that the introductions and the roles were properly spread between them.

On horseback, he peered at @Lune as she questioned his age.

"Wow, are you really asking my age without telling me yours first? That's so rude!"

Diego protested, shaking his head before pondering for a moment.

"Well, it has bee a while since I've kinda stopped counting, but I'm around

bFaZnnu.png
"

His mouth and words moved so fast it was hard to keep up, then peeking at @Luthien and @Yugam.

"Mr. Beleg, huh? I'm glad he isn't around, this expedition will already be hard enough!"

He laughed nervously, glancing at @Ueno Mizuki and @Fiora Di Angelo.

"I'm sure we won't have any problems for now, yeah. It is the Ascent that worries me, but even then, I think we are in very good hands-" He peeked at the wolves. "- And paws!"

"... And as they spoke... The travel went on, with a path being secured by the sharp eyes and senses of the vanguard that remained wary and attentive like eagles, and the guidance of the rearguard that used of their wisdom and knowledge as owls to find the path." The woman told.

"A safe travel was what they had met, with the greenery lands welcoming them with fresh air and warm sun..." With a sigh, she continued- "The horses trotted, and-"

"Clip-clop-clip-clop-clip-clop~" The girl clicked her tongue several times.

"What is this?" Storyteller questioned.

"The horses running!" Listener chirped.

The woman chuckled, ruffling the girl's hair. "... Clip-clop, clip-clop, the horses ran relentlessly, bringing the explorers to a beautiful village... The..."

VALLEY OF THE SUN - TRANQUIL FALLS VILLAGE
Mid Afternoon
Weather: Sunny & Windy

Centered by a large and lively lake, the village the party had approached lived up to its name with a wonderful landscape, that was composed as if the goddess that took care of those lands had painted it herself. The lake shimmered, with abundance in fishes that reflected the sunlight with their shiny scales, while gentle waterfalls, that fell from the base of the Ascents, washed the surface while serving as instrumental for the beautiful music the birds and the winds sang.

The villagers, one by one, glanced at the approaching group with mixed feelings. Some surprised, some wary, some intrigued... But above all, when spotting a particular Caenis Beastfolk that escorted the group, they seemed to shrink and become defensive.

No immediate hostility was shown to the group, but eyes and attention averted, while some pretended they haven't even noticed their presence.

"Hmmm, yep. That's not good."

Diego said, hopping out of the horse, still holding on its reins, however.

"We still need to find a stall that we can keep our horses." Diego patted the horse. "I doubt they will reject our services, but let's be a little careful to not cause any trouble, right?"

It wasn't hard to spot exactly what they needed, Tranquil Falls was rather prosperous and big for a kotan, but it was far from being a maze of buildings and people compared to big cities like Finweald or Dunnstads.

The stalls were guarded by a Caenis guy, one that didn't seem to mind the group's presence that much. with him and on the surroundings of the stall, surrounded by large fences, there were not only horses, but giant rams and bulls as well.

Meanwhile, the path to the Hyland Ascent were met by a well ornamented Uene's Shrine, having a structure that resembled a torii with the symbol of a crescent moon, that when seen from a direct angle, seemed to be surrounded by the valleys and the waterfalls separating the shrine from the outskirts that lead to the Ascent.

Near the shrine, a Caenis girl rested her back against the torii, pursing her lips and tapping her fingers on a basket she held.

This cycle you may use Scouting Ahead or Leading the Way actions if you don't wish to make any Scenario Actions , but they won't increase you current pool, only the total pool.

The Sun Claw are wary of @Ueno Mizuki. Because of this, the Party rolls with Disadvantage when interacting with the Scenario Actions:

Worried Sunset 🎬

By Uene's Shrine, a small Caenis girl fidgets with a troubled expression. On her hands, she holds a basket and sometimes cast a glance at the path toward the Hyland Ascent.

When seen or approached, she avert her face and her tail tucks between her legs.

20 Leading Points (Individual). Interact with the Caenis girl and attempt to acquire information or lore. Roll a Presence Check.

100 Leading Points (Party). Interact with the Caenis girl and acquire a side-quest. Roll a Presence Check doubling your modifier. If you have spent points in this Scenario before, you may just pay the difference.

Curious Sunrise 🎬

50 Scouting Points (Party). Negate the Disadvantage on rolls interact with the Scenario's actions

100 Scouting Points (Party). Gain Advantage on rolls to interact with the Scenario Actions.

Beauty and Moon 🎬

An Uene's Shrine rests before the path the party will take to continue their expedition to Hyland Ascent.

You may make multiple Scenario Actions, but you may not make a Preparation, Leading the Way or Scouting Ahead Action if you make any Scenario Action.

Individual Scenario Actions affect only the individual interacting with it, while Party Scenario Actions affect the whole party, regardless if every member is interacting with it or not.

"Wow, are you really asking my age without telling me yours first? That's so rude!"

"A woman does not tell her age, kid,"
Lune replied.

As Diego began reciting his long Harry Potter-esque mantra for his age, she just looked away while dismissing it. "Yeah, I'm not gonna even try." That probably implies that he's actually older than she thought, but she's still going to call him 'kid' anyway.

Their travel was quite safe, or rather, uneventful. Was the preparation and all the precaution overkill? Obviously no, one can never be too sure of anything, especially inside of this game and the less-explored area of Hylands. They soon arrived at the village just at the bottom of the Ascent, all according to their plan. The reception to their arrival was predictably cold.

Not to worry, as they more or less anticipated this.

"We still need to find a stall that we can keep our horses."

"Agreed, see that one guy near the stalls?"
As soon as they turned towards him, his tail wags rapidly, causing Lune to raise her eyebrows in confusion. "You may have noticed that he doesn't look as discouraged as everyone else. Maybe he can help with the horses, or better, he might be a stall owner."

She then motioned Diego to follow her while leading the horse. "Come on kid, let's go talk to him. He might think you're a teen or something and give us a discount." Having walked closer to the large Caenis man, the woman bowed a little as she greeted the local, "Greetings, we're trying to climb to the Ascent. Do you have any stall to hold our horses?"

"If he thinks I'm a teen... Well, he wouldn't be wrong!"

Diego admitted, shrugging and following Lune to get to the caenis guy. The man had noticed the two approaching, and his tail wagged excitedly.

"Heya! We also want to get some petting, can we?"

Trying to pet a giant ram without waiting for an answer, he nearly got his hand bit off, but he quickly withdrew with a squeak.

"GYAHAHAHA! You are crazy, kiddo, that fella may be a ram, but it can be as carnivorous as a lion."

The man handwaved, glancing at @Lune.

"Sure, sweetie. But first, tell me if you will. You really plan to go to the Ascent? If so, I can take care of your horses without costing you a coin, if you can help me with something..."

The stares from these villagers pretty much confirmed the obvious against optimistic output. Mizuki stood up like a sore thumb to them, and most already seemed against the idea of interaction, save for one particular rebellious soul out there that lured in Lune and Diego of all people. Two sub-groups formed within their party, with their trustworthy furred guide and Luthien heading over to the shrine. By the time her eye turned to her side, the only one left was Yugam, who was yet to decide a course of action here, but he never struck her as the religious sort as to go pray to a virtual deity.

"I'll be heading out to see what I find on these shortcuts. Can't just drop the burden on Mizuki alone." She commented to the hunter before parting ways. With everyone keen in interacting with the village, she would cover other bases rather than the social ones. If anything goes wrong at least they won't associate her face with it.

She didn't go any faster than earlier, her walking pace almost lacked motivation, and it's only when silence was all her ear could pick up that the elf took a long breath in, as if a weight just dropped from her back. This time, at least, she could keep her aura's radius smaller, concentrating power in a much more efficient manner to get a feel of what awaited in the path infront of her.

Worried Sunset (Party)

The sight of the village is a welcomed one to her eyes, surrounded by a picturesque landscape that inspires awe and comfort that makes the ranger pause for a few moments to drink it all in. Relief floods her mind almost instantly as she can feel the knightess’ aura finally begin to recede as they near the small settlement, and with it also goes the throbbing headache she’d been suffering for the last hour or so. However their arrival seems to earn mixed reactions, expected considering the place probably doesn’t see heavy foot traffic around these parts, though whatever initial curiosity some might’ve held for the party quickly seems to disappear as they spot the unique physical traits of their wildling companion.

"Hmmm, yep. That's not good."
"Just a misunderstanding… I’m sure we can smooth things out."

She tries to give @Diego a reassuring smile as the blonde dismounts, the reins of her horse carefully handed over to the fellow red whistle upon seeing his full attention set on the stables and a rather excitedly looking caenis man. A nod is given to @Lune as the pair gather their horses and decide to try their luck, before her attention turns towards Mizuki and her packmates as they lead the way towards the shrine.

A soft little tune is quietly hummed by the elf as the small group makes its way, the little ditty lacking any perceivable words to itself even as it manages to effortlessly blend into the natural sounds that echo throughout the small village. Only the faint glow of the moonstone around her neck gives away that her song is magically infused, carried far and wide by a gentle verdant breeze. It isn’t much but, at the very least, she hopes it can help soothe the mistrust that has seemingly settled onto most due to the appearance of their lunar wolf.

"Y’know… out of all the places we’ve seen so far I’m convinced the Sun Claw’s have the best taste." She can’t help but admire the torii like structure that frames the entrance, the crescent moon carved onto it leaving no doubt as to whom this place belongs to. "It almost feels like being in an anime~"

It made her wonder if one or a few from the developing team might’ve been Japanese, or if they simply adored the culture and its aesthetics so much that it had been coded so detailed into this particular caenis clan… and it was almost enough to momentarily make her forget of the dangers that always lurked in the shadows of this game. She’s about to follow Mizuki further inside when a small figure at the corner of her eyes catches the ranger’s attention.

"Yuu… look!" Her voice is barely above a whisper as a hand instinctively reaches out for the hunter, fingers grasping onto the sleeve of his coat before giving it a gentle tug. "I think someone’s there…?"

There’s a moment of hesitation as the blonde shifts her weight to try and get a better look, and while she can’t see much from this angle there’s no way to miss the fuzzy ears atop the slim figure’s head or the bushy chestnut tail. { We’ll be back in a bit, Mizuki. } She spares their companion a silent message as her choice is made, before her steps take the elf closer towards that side of the gate.

She can finally make out the features of the little caenis, the way she continuously glances towards the path that leads into the Hyland Ascent and then back to the basket she holds close to herself. "Hi there," A soft greeting is given in the hopes of not startling the young girl as Lúthien approaches, and a gentle smile rests on her face as she waves at the pup.

"... everything alright?"

Claws and Fangs (Party)

The journey towards the village ended up going fairly smoothly, Mizuki doing her part of scouting ahead so they didn't run into any obstacles or waste too much time with elaborate passages that could be avoided. She would return to the rest of the group once the village was in sight, staying a safe distance from the horses to avoid spooking them.

Of course, the horses weren't the only ones who weren't entirely happy with Mizuki's presence.

As she'd predicted once the villagers spotted her and recognised her as a Moon Fang they became wary, some eyeing the entire group with distrust because of her presence while others did their best to ignore the party and focus on their own business. Of course, being a Traveler the wildling wasn't a true Moon Fang, but she was probably as close to it as a Traveler could be, and clearly these Sun Claws either couldn't tell the difference or didn't care.

Which was hardly surprising, since this wasn't the first time Mizuki had visited Sun Claw villages, and the reactions were pretty much the same.

She glanced towards the male at the stall pointed out by @Lune. His lack of wariness was more unusual, but since Mizuki was keeping her interactions with the horses to a minimum she left it to Lune and Diego.

If he's a stall owner it would explain why he's more welcoming. More accustomed to dealing with outsiders.

With those two setting themselves upon the task of finding a place to keep their horses and @Fiora Di Angelo choosing to scout ahead that left herself, @Luthien, and @Yugam. The wildling nodded and watched the elf hunter leave before turning her gaze towards the shrine at the edge of the village. She couldn't blame Fiora for wanting to stay away from the village: even if the villagers weren't about to start trouble the atmosphere wasn't the best.

You can join, but weren't you at the new years celebration?

Her packmate wagged his tail when Luthien scratched him behind the ears, flicking one of them before turning his head towards the shrine as well. The other wolf was sniffing their surroundings, receiving the same wary looks as Mizuki herself was receiving. While wolves obviously weren't Moon Fang, wolves that accompanied Moon Fang still were potentially dangerous.

Gathering the attention of her pack with a Primal Aura message Mizuki led the way towards the shrine, leaving it up to Luthien and Yugam to follow on their own accord. Around them most of the villagers continued to either be wary or stay away from them, although Mizuki's sharp ears began picking up something new: whispering, seemingly more confused and uncertain than outright judgemental. Some of the looks they were getting also gave the impression that the owners had a question on their mind they didn't know how to ask.

The culture is very similar to the Japanese, yes. There's some traditions to follow to give a proper prayer at the shrine, but they're straightforward. Bow at the torii, wash your hands at the fountain and rinse your mouth. Uene is the goddess of beauty, so it's important to show etiquette and make yourself presentable.

From what she'd gathered the Moon Fang were a lot more casual about all of this, but when in Rome...

As Luthien diverted from their course to approach the young girl next to the shrine Mizuki considered going after the elf, but she probably would just have made the little one nervous. However, before she could continue towards the shrine another, older voice called out to her, the wildling's ears twitching as the unusual form of address hit her.

You, Moon Fang!

Mizuki turned her head towards the one who was now approaching her (@Chanlye), his brow furrowed and his jaw set. However, his gaze wasn't aggressive: he looked like he wasn't entirely confident about what he was doing but was determined to go through with it anyway.

Turning towards him Mizuki settled her mismatched eyes on him, raising one eyebrow quizzically as she very purposefully left her hands idly at her sides, using her Primal Aura to tell her packmates to take a step back and sit down for the moment. She didn't want the male to think he was going to get attacked for approaching her.

Greetings. What's on your mind?

Slowly the party had dispersed, some going one direction, others another. And that left Yugam alone for a moment, sharing a few parting words with Fiora before his attention was drawn inevitably towards Luthien, who was accompanying Mizuki towards the shrine to Uene.

He accompanied them on the serene little trail, guided by the bright red torii gates that lined their path. Just as Luthien had said, it was much like the scenery in anime, although Yugam felt like just using Japan as a whole might have been a better descriptor. He didn't say as much, instead merely nodding along and making a small comment. "Yeah. It's gorgeous. I'll try not to embarrass everyone," he joked, aiming the last part towards Mizuki as she explained all the various pieces of etiquette with which Yugam was entirely unacquainted.

Luthien's quiet voice then drew the man's attention again as she tugged on his sleeve. Yugam gave Mizuki a parting nod before the couple headed towards the troubled looking girl. And while Luthien spoke, Yugam stood just behind her quietly, knowing she was much better equipped to handle this kind of stuff than his own anti-social ass.

It took a moment for the girl to realize that @Luthien and @Yugam were approaching not the shrine in particular, but her.

And when she did, she fidgeted, looking back and forth as if she was looking for somewhere to hide. Her lips pursed, and she tried to take steps back, with the greeting making her flinch, nearly stumbling and making some of the basket's contents slip out of it, with fruits rolling on the ground.

"A-AH! H... Hi..."

She greeted, with her cheeks burning in embarrassment as she crouched.

"E-Everything is..."

The girl muttered, not finishing her words, and focusing on picking up the fruits while her ears flattened against her head.
