"Hello! I accepted another quest, I do not really understand or know the heads or tails of. But I was wondering if you would be willing to help out? Thanks!"

A quick message and call to arms from those that he had met and befriended in one way or another. He wasn't even sure when, where or how he had started this quest. Finding it within the mess that was his quest log. Finding the location was easy enough, even though it wasn't an area that he was used to or knew. Hopefully one of the others had some knowledge? He looked forward to seeing just who it was that would show up. Until then he just relaxed and munched upon a snack upon a fallen tree trunk near the entrance to the woods. Partially to kill time, and partially to soothe his nerves.

It would suck if no one showed up. He'd go in without them, but his mood would be much more dour. With him being far more likely to give up and fail the mission, leaving without making much progress or headway. Given the time he at least reread over the missive trying to get some information for the others should they ask him what was up.

Mio would show up, as stealthy as one might expect from a rogue. Hard to see, difficult to discern, if one wasn't paying attention very carefully to their surroundings they wouldn't notice her 2D shape moving across the ground like a shadow without anything to project it. It was how she usually traveled, hidden, out of sight, avoiding monsters and bandits normally. Mio would naturally approach close enough to Hayate before the shadow fused with a tree, disappearing into it like it was some kind of out house before the short fox girl pushed the trunk open like a trap door letting it swing closed behind her. "Hayate~ I made it." Her entrance perhaps a little show-y but it was the unfortunate reality of how her stealth magic worked, transitioning from 2D to 3D required those trap doors still.

She'd try to take another end of the stump next to him if there was room, if not she'd draw herself out a stool in 3D instead. "It's been a wild time, I've been doing some deep sea diving lately for treasure, pirate treasure, bandits treasure. Haaa... A lot of running around and doing work." She complained with a stretch, playing with friends was a nice way to wind down from the hustle and bustle of her work. Plus if she was still earning on a quest with a friend that was still a double win. "So what's the plan? We gonna just get in there and stab them dead? Or something more fancy?" Mio asked tilting her head.

"Hayate! Mio!"

It had taken Trissayne much longer than she would have liked to admit to find a way out into the Tangleweaves. Because it wasn't densely populated, there weren't many (read: any) carriages going out that way. Yet, she managed to find some other players who were heading out that way to gather some special ingredients for...whatever they were doing. Triss didn't ask questions, merely thanked them for dropping her off at the border.

And finding her two friends was easier than she had originally thought it would be as well. Which was good! While the Weaves were beautiful, the humidity made her clothes stick to her body and her hair was a mess, which made her mood ten times worse. The excitement that had been present when she called out to them immediately left once she was standing next to them, a frown tugging at her lips, her shoulders low, while a groan immediately tainted the air.

"Whatcha be doing all da way out here for, Hayate?" she asked, not even attempting to not whine. "Dis be feeling too much like home ta me. Da humidity gonna killin us if da crocodiles don't." But even glancing around, Triss couldn't see any swamps that might hide gaters or leeches just waiting for unsuspecting victims like them.

"Dis bettah be some amazing quest ya be finding. Eh?"

While not as many showed up as he had hoped, it was a blessing that any showed up at all. Both the girls were ones he had met during the brewery quest, though he had talked more to Triss than Mio. The fact that they showed up, meant he'd have to work a bit more at being a better friend, if that was what they thought of him. Rather than just a 'friend' in the game. Blinking as the fox girl made her entrance, from a tree? That was a useful trick. Could she bring others with her? Idle thoughts about how exactly it worked floated through his mind, as he gave her a wave. "Thanks for coming Mio." he'd respond scooting over for her to find perch upon the edge of the large stump. It was part of what made this world so fascinating, everything was just bigger, better, and more fanciful than the outside. He nodded along listening as she spoke, because that's what friends did right? Scratching the back of his head once she finished he chuckled sheepishly realizing the differences between them. She was doing so much and exploring the game while he just 'lived' in it. "That, sounds amazing, so many different and difficult challenges. Sounds like you've been busy, sorry this might not be as fancy. I'm still just getting started."

Turning over to Triss as she appeared, another overhead wave was given. With both of them here, and asking the same question well he'd share what he could of the details. "I overhead some others talking about a hidden pool in the woods with a special slime type thing. If that is alright with you both? We got to find it and maybe see what it is? They sorta said there was a kind of jelly that tastes amazing from one of the drops. And I asked around till I found a chef that pointed me here. And maybe more slicing Mio than stabbing. Unless well do slimes bleed?"

The little nugget of info regarding Triss's home was pocketed for later. Though she did have a point, it was...humid. "Ya, sorry about that. I did not know how bad it was away from the capitals, the weather might be one thing I want less realistic."

Tilting her head, Mio couldn't help being slightly surprised by Triss's thoughts on the area. It wasn't until realization struck her that she bopped a fist into her own hand finally connecting dots. "Ah, it must be uncomfortable normally. Do you want air conditioning?" Mio would ask, tilting her head to one side. If Triss seemed perplexed on how or why Mio would open one of her sleeves showing a drawing of a vent on the interior of her clothing. "It usually keeps me at a comfortable temperature..." Mio spoke as if feeling slightly bad she hadn't offered it sooner. Normally she'd be demanding payment but her friends were an investment!

Though when hearing about being called while busy and not being fancy, Mio's expression softened, even trying to give him a friendly shove at the very thought. "Hey, c'mon, you gotta look out for friends. I love money-- and I won't be sharing it don't get me wrong, but money can't watch your back you know? I mean... Maybe but... I don't have that much money at least. Plus you ever wanna go on adventures, it's not like I don't have heists to do still." She couldn't help laughing. She'd grown up in a place where people looking out for each other was usually more beneficial then trying to grind out more money. While her life now required a bit more cash for more comforting living, you should never forget where you come from.

The word "Special" made her perk up though, ears high and eager. "Special?~ Special means expensive~" Mio couldn't help happily rubbing her hands together. Though hearing about the nature of things, that it was a food rather then a resource made her tilt her head wondering how best to deal with it. "Mm. If it's something like that maybe we should just beat them physically? If we puncture the slime won't the valuable stuff start pouring out? Maybe we beat them up or push them down a cliff to kill them? I can make cliffs too." Mio offered wondering if maybe blunt might be better to protect the product of slime. Her desire for coin and cash clearly influencing her thoughts on the job.

As Hayate and Mio go back and forth about how to kill these slimes and extract their valuable loot, Triss can't help but stand there and frown. The palm of one hand rests against her temple while the other sits on her hip, her gaze bouncing back and forth between her two party members. Sometimes, she was sure that they forgot how new she was to all this. She didn't even know what the hell a slime was, nevertheless if it could be punctured.

Did she even have something to puncture a slime with? Probably not...

"Do dere even be cliffs in dere?" she asks after a lull in the conversation, her thumb jutting over her shoulder and into the thickest part of the forest. "Not dat I be knowing what a slime even be lookin like, but if it be dangerous, den we should be careful. Maybe we be pushing it off a cliff is a good idea." She clears her throat and turns to glance over her shoulder, a frown tugging at her brow. Who knew what else lay in wait for them besides the slimes Hayate was sent to hunt.

"But, ah, we gotta be finding a pool and den be killing a slime for a chef. Alright. Don't be sounding too difficult." Licking her lips, she exhales the heavy, hot air with a groan before returning her attention to the two. "Well, we be moving now, neh?"

Oh that was really useful he thought to himself blinking as Mio showed off a really ingenious use of her painting magic. Nodding along he rubbed at the back of his head. "I might have to take you up on that eventually, if you do not think that I will hold you back, sounds like fun." he'd say over to the fox. Her follow up ideas took off at a full sprint. The idea of beating the slimes rather than cutting them and losing the ooze made sense, there was only one problem. How was he going to do that with a bow? And the idea with the cliffs, took bludgeoning damage to the extreme. While he could see it working? It just made work itself, and the planning for the set up as well. As Triss asked, he shrugged.

"I am not too sure if there are, I have not ever been here before. And a slime looks like a jar of jelly. But without the jar? If that makes sense. Its like a blob of colorful, but sticky or slimey goop that is sentient and has eyes. Usually more of a nuisance than a danger. But for a special one I have no clue?"

He spoke as he started walking into the woods at the older woman's call. They could talk while they walked, and well the sooner they started, hopefully the sooner they could find the target. Eyes peeled, he started to scan their surroundings looking for both slimes and water. As the later could lead them potentially to the former.

"Hopefully not too difficult, I think the main problem is in finding it."

Mio hummed at the question about cliffs, wondering how best to explain her abilities. For Mio there could be cliffs where ever she pleased after all. "I can make them? Not cliffs technically but deep pitfalls? Usually they have spikes or piranhas or something cartoony at the bottom, but i can make them just flat stone at the bottom too." Mio offered clenching and unclenching her inky hands. Of course, Triss who didn't seem to recognize a slime by name made Mio tilt her head. She was only familiar with the cute ones from old school games with beady eyes and tongues who liked ice cream.

"They're like water balloons, except they sorta fight like ameba? they sorta glomp you and eat you." She tried to explain. If Triss was still confused, Mio would get up from the stump and use her nails to quickly dash off a quick sketch of the ones she knew. The cute slimes in the shape of a fat teardrop with beady eyes and goofy mouths. Though it probably wasn't accurate in a hyper real game like Terra, hopefully it would give the general idea of a slime creature.

When trying to decide where things were though, Mio frowned. If it were treasure or gold she might have better odds of knowing how to locate it. Even if it was her ink materials she might have better odds, but for slimes, it was a little out of her depths. For a moment she'd turn her head up in wonder, she'd try to create inky binoculars in hopes that she might be able to peep something. Unfortunately it wasn't the best option, but it was something.

"...We be hunting jelly. Like da stuff we be putting on toast in da real world?"

Brows knitting together, her gaze dances from Mio to Hayate and back again. When neither of them confirms this to be a joke or that they're pulling her leg, she blinks and gently shakes her head. A soft smile touches her mouth while her shoulders lift and then drop with a shrug. Maybe it wouldn't have been such a surprise if she were more familiar with video games to begin with. As it stood, however, well, it just sounded crazy.

Then again, this entire game was crazy so, in comparison, hunting a jelly-slime was...pretty tame.

Walking alongside Mio, and behind Hayate, Triss turns to the fox girl with a quizzical tilt of her head. "Do da spikes be doing damage to a jelly monster tho? Do it even be having blood ta be spilled?"

Granted, when Mio mentioned that the slimes could just tackle them and eat them, well, Triss stops in her tracks, crosses her arms over her chest, and shakes her head. "Dey can just be eating us?! I don't wanna be ate at all, Hayate. Mio? Come now. Dis game can be killing ya. I—I don't wanna be deadt ta a grape jelly monster!"

Combined search action has crossed the 250 threshold! Trail has been Found.
As Mio formed the binoculars from her magical ink, she would be able to survey the land ahead of them spotting what looked to be a small stream that ended in a miniature waterfall. A sign that while there were cliffs, they didn't seem to be the most impressive. But at the very least they had a destination possibly. The combined efforts of Hayate and Trissayne would guide the party through the woods to their destination.

They would find a small glade with a crystal clear pool at the bottom of the small water feature spotted by Mio, which stood about 8-10 feet high. The surrounding sounds of insects and wildlife would dim as they approached, falling completely silent besides the bubbling brook and crash of water into the tranquil pool. The pool itself was ringed with a mixture of fall logs and large strange rocks that had a slight metallic sheen.

The questions now were. Where were the slimes, and had they found the right location?

You may make a knowledge check to identify features regarding the slimes habits or abilities. Or another awareness check to view your surroundings to find the slimes. Appropriate magical masteries such as Nature may gain an additional +10 for the check for knowledge. If you choose to assist another you may add +5 per grade of your mastery to their roll that you are using to help them.

That would be really useful he mused to himself as the painter spoke. "If you are able to trap them like that, we would be able to attack them safely from above. I don't think they are able to jump that high. At least if they are similar to slimes from other games." They would make their way through the wooded lands to the goal soon enough as the girls discussed the existence and abilities of slimes, Triss's comments bringing a smile to his face as he scouted ahead slightly. While an oddity to be sure, they were common enough in most games that he overlooked them. And that only made him think further what other things did he take for granted, even unusual as they would be in the real world.

"Maybe it's like a balloon or seal and if we puncture the outside, the jelly inside spills out. I think that's what we are supposed to gather anyways." Before he could complete another thought though, Triss would honestly speak something truthful. What a horrible way to die eaten by a slime. Could it even eat them, or was it more of like a digestion thing with acid? Getting bit by it had to be like being gummed by an older person.

"That's why we do things slowly and safely and fight from a distance if we can. It's not that difficult of a quest, at least from what I was told. They should be small like fighting any other wild life like wolves?" He tried to speak confidently but it ended somewhat uncertain. A lot of what he was saying was all assumptions, grounded in experience from the past. Hopefully it would ring true. He'd stop along with the girls continuing to observe their surroundings as he said they should. Looking for signs of the slimes or other dangers.

Imagining spreading a pleading slime onto her toast made Mio stifle a giggle. Though she wasn't exactly sure if that was what they were looking for, it seemed they were tasty, maybe it wasn't far from the truth? "C'mon Triss, would you really wanna spread monster juice on your toast?" She tried to tease bumping the woman's hip with her body as they walked to the site of the river. Though when asked if she could trap them, Mio nodded. "I can make lots of things, Pits, Arrow traps, snares, falling block traps or arrow traps, even the old fashioned punching glove form a hole in the wall gag. I'm just not sure how big or deep I should make it?" She asked tilting her head making her ears flop as she wasn't sure the sizes of the creatures they were hunting she wasn't sure what dimensions to create it.

The subject of creating traps seemed to be the move from what she gathered in Triss's and Hayate's words though, at least it seemed like neither of them wanted to confront the creatures directly. "Well, just be careful, if they're particularly transparent they might blend in with water, or if they're really opaque they might imitate something else like big rocks. God forbid they're smart enough to climb into trees like snails." She murmured trying to help Hayate with searching. Mio wasn't particularly useful at least but she had some things to contribute at least.

Wanting to set up the trap for her friends though, she began to work, one tail becoming three, three becoming six as her make up around her eyes thickened again into black rings. She would use the tails to begin rapidly drawing a pair of trap doors, trying her best to make them as photo realistic as possible despite only painting using the color black. Including shading and some wear, some visibility of the cracks where the pieces fit together. When the drawing was done, she'd let out a satisfied breath, exerting herself a bit with it's creation it looked like a large pair of double doors drawn into the ground. If Triss or Hayate had doubts about it she'd tilt her head. "Ah, it works, want to see?" She'd offer if they were worried about her drawing magic.

If either wanted confirmation, she'd stomp a foot onto one door causing it to swing inward revealing a long drop inside. The bottom a little dark but would be more visible if both doors were opened. "It's reusable, so we should be good for a little while as long as this is the only one I need to make-- Pitfalls are pretty simple so I can make a few maybe but I don't know if we need more." She asked thinking they could maybe work around one without her having to overexert herself.

Mio's comment makes Triss's face screw up in obvious displeasure. The idea of spreading living jelly on her toast was not, in any way, appealing, but someone out there wanted it to do just that. At least, that's what she gathered from what Hayate had explained. Which, made sense in a way? The NPCs of this world had to eat and surely some monster dishes were delicacies that gave certain buffs or something...right?

...This wasn't the first time, nor would it be the last time, that she wished she had played more video games when she was a younger woman. Some of this stuff was just too difficult to wrap her more logical brain around.

"Dey can be transparent even too?" she asks with an exasperated sigh, her hand going to her face to pinch the bridge of her nose. "No wonduh dis be a fucking deadt game. Everyting be out ta kill ya and ya can't even be ready for it."

Watching Mio do her magic, Triss lifts her eyebrows in obvious wonder before glancing between the two. "So now we be finding it and be leading it into dat ting? And it be dying?"
