It had been a few days since Chako started basing herself on Honeyhome. Each day she'd go in a different direction to explore and see what scenery she'd find.

Sure, she got a bunch of warnings about how it was dangerous to go alone and how she should find people to accompany her, but Chako wasn't in the mood of getting kicked from yet another party, so she figured she'd just explore by herself. She hardly ever found anything worth worrying about anyways. She shouldn't be in trouble for as long as she avoids Western Brisshal, which is apparently is kinda dangerous.

... And that was Chako's mindset before she heard a howl in her surroundings... Followed by additional howls.

It was a strange sensation. Both Chako's hair and the fur in her tails suddenly seemed to be raising up. Cold sweat started going down her back.

Come on. It's just a game. There is no need to worry... She thought, and yet, her entire body screamed at her to flee at full speed... And once she heard the steps of the nearest wolf getting close to her... Flee she did.

Any semblance of pride was instantly thrown in the ditch as Chako got in all fours and started running at full speed as a pack of wolves quickly started pursuing her, "Nyaaaaaaaaa!" W-what was that!? Why did I... N-never mind! I'll worry about this later! "Somebody heeeeelp!"

"Hmmm."

'"Still in Brisshal, and all because you keep hesitating. You're really taking the 'never meet your heroes' thing to heart."

"I just don't want to be misunderstood again."

Magi traveled alone, as she often did between hero quests. Hero quests were her current name for the jobs that people would leave around that were too trivial or lacked good enough reward for even the Lions Pride to take on.

It was during her inner duologue with herself that Magi heard:

"Nyaaaaaaaaa! Somebody heeeeelp!"

Magi's eyes widened and her bow instantly generated into her hand.

"Sounds like a Nyanko!"

"Lets go!."

A shadowy tendril shot out from the lower end of Magi's dress and grabbed a tree branch, hurtling Magi into the air as she bounced from branch to branch. Quickly catching sight of a pack of wolves and a cat girl (primarily known as Felis).

Wendy shot a quick "Put that away!" To Wendel's dissonant abilities as they had come to an agreement that it's better to use those discreetly in the fog of war. Wendel complied. If only because she knew it benefited her as well to be accepted by the needy.

A pull back of the hand. No string.
A release.

The stream of energy was like canon fire from the trees. The ground burst up in dust as the low tier wolves of Brisshal bounced around in the spray.

It looked like one had made it past though!

"Gee whiz! Look out!"

Magi used a astral infused shadow step to increase the speed of her covered ground. Landing right behind the wolf and grabbing it by the tail. Magi's face broke into a creepy smile for a moment.

'"This will be quick little doggo!"

The body of the wolf's body turned black before turning into a dust that swept into the wind.

Wendy made a shocked look that showed on Magi's face. She told her not to DO stuff like that!

Magi put her hands on her hips and changed the look of shock to one of forced optimism. Putting the face on was important to both of them.

"Don't worry Nyanko! Magi Heart is here!"

She immediately went for a Sailor Dune esque pose.

Chako's heart was beating fast... It was scary. It was scary! She didn't understand why it was so scary, but it was scary! She wanted to crouch down and cry, she wanted to, she wanted to...

An explosion. That's what the sound felt like. She instantly tripped as she heard it. Her ears screaming in pain at the sudden loud noise assaulting her.

Chako had only managed to turn around before falling. Her back on the ground. One wolf quickly approaching her, with the rest flying around in a cloud of dust.

She could see its mouth open. Chako was going to die. She was going to...

Someone appeared. She said something Chako couldn't quite understand, before the wolf suddenly faded away. As if it had never been there in the first place.

The girl then striked out a pose, the smile on her face suddenly washed over Chako. Even if she couldn't understand a word that was just said due to the pain in her ears, Chako understood enough.

She was safe. She was saved.

Chako suddenly started trembling. Tears quickly got to her eyes as her whole body started feeling the effects of the adrenaline fading out.

Chako did not bother with trying to get up. She just cried. She wailed her worries away right in front of her unknown savior.

She was saved. She was saved!

And deep in her mind, Chako couldn't help wondering... Why did she even care? It was just a game. Why was she so scared in the first place?

Chako did not understand it at all, but her body did not care about the doubts of her mind. The sudden wave of relief far too strong to care about menial things like how much a game could impact her own emotions.

Both sides of Magi cringed at the tears. This girl looked close in age to Magi, but this wasn't the world where Wendy spent her days as a hall monitor and playing make believe with Raina and her other friends. These days. It was all Arcia, all the time. Here, this person could be anything... anyone.

But even 'anything' needed help!

Kneeling down, Magi reached out her hand, but froze.

"Don't."

"What? Do you mean that blue haired people person?"

"Yep."

"That wasn't intentional... we were in a different state then."

Magi continued to reach out her hand.

"It's ok! Really! The wolves are gone. Don't cry!"

Magi's astral sense told her that this girl was likely a Starcalled. That was good. Even without that, it was pretty obvious considering the closeness of Honeyhome. Running from a giant boar was something Magi had experienced as well. This place wasn't good for play. Way too late to know that now.

"You're new right? Take my hand, it'll be ok. You want help getting back to Honeyhome? What's your name?"

Wendel said nothing nor gave much emotion for Wendy to feel. Who knows what the Dark Heart thinks these days. Even if the whole of Magi had finally realized together that Wendel was Dissonance. It didn't chance the fact she was different. Confused and impacted by things that had happened in the past that other Dissonance may not have been through....

Chako finally started understanding a few words as her savior kneeled and offered her a hand.

Right... The wolves were gone... Chako was safe...

Chako was still trembling though... She sniffed a few times, then tried wiping away her tears with her dress, before catching the offered hand, "Chako... I... Yes, I'm new." Chako tried to process the situation. It was hard with her instincts seemingly taking over her body and making her unable to do anything other than tremble and cry, but... She tried.

This girl... Came after the explosion... Then she caused it? And she... Stroke a pose as she defeated the last wolf.

Then, then... "You... Starcalled? Magical girl?" The outfit and that initial behavior looked like one... There shouldn't be Lander magical girls... Probably.

Come on, Lisa, stop trembling so much! Come on! You're playing a game! You just met a new person! Smile! Smile!

Chako forced a smile onto her face. It didn't seem genuine in the slightest, but it was a start, "W-was that explosion your doing? That... That was awesome!" Chako hadn't seen anything other than the wolves being flung away by a cloud of dust, "A-a-a-and thank you... Thank you so much..." Chako's tears that had barely stopped falling just came out again in full force.

"... Why am I like this...? Why was I so scared while playing a game...?" She asked the questions more to herself than to the girl in front of her, "What's wrong with me!?" Sure, it was realistic, but that didn't mean... That didn't mean she was meant to feel like this.

The girl's name was Chako, and she seemed to react to the magical girl aspects of Magi's style. The reactions whether player or Lander were quite different. The arrival of the Star Chosen from Tertoria into Astorea made it easier for Magi to just 'white lie' her status so she could sweep the Dissonant reveals of the Magia conflict under the rug.

The things she has had to do that were against her principles.

But here was someone new. She had to make a good impression!

"That's right! I'm a Magical Girl! Astorea's personal Mahou Shoujo protector! Like our own Star Maiden! Wowzers, maybe that's a bit much right now. But I'd like to be!"

We really are aren't we?.
More magical than the magicaliest *giggle*!

Watching as the girl fell back unto her bum again. Magi reached down and lifted her up. Holding her tightly. Resisting Wendel's urge to hold much, much tighter...

Magi always loved kitties. Nyankos as she called them. Her first meeting in Terrasphere was with one. A catboy at that. So it was reasonable to see that even Wendel had a 'attachment' to those with cat tails and the like.

The fact she could recall that with so much brain fog as she had these days was something. The nostalgia of the sight perhaps.

The nyanko girl went on wondering why she was scared out loud. Wendel would speak now.

'"Because you're alive Nyanko♥"

Wendy quickly moved on and decided to focus on an earlier statement. She was never in a situation where she had to act as a mentor or anything before. Heck, she's been here for what felt like forever and still barely understand anything, even herself.

"Heheheh...heh. What I meant to say was. People can hurt. Like, really hurt here. You didn't know that? Come on. I'll protect you. Or do you want to do that thing... umm..."

Her mind blanked out. Remembering exactly how it worked was so far into the past that she wasn't even sure how to say it.

"....you could just... leave? Starcall-uh... players can always leave early on! Yeah that's it!"

"Astorea...? Star Maiden?" Chako tilted her head. She tried focusing on the magical girl's words. Tried to focus on her confusion over the new terms instead of on the trembling that refused to leave her body.

Then, she was helped up by the magical girl, and... And Chako instantly hugged her. Chako didn't even think before doing it. She just desperately craved the comfort of a hug right now.

'"Because you're alive Nyanko♥"

Chako blinked a few times at those words.

Right... She was alive... She was right here... There was no need to fear because she was alive right now.

It was something so simple... Something so obvious... Yet it somehow made Chako at ease... Her trembling and her tears slowly coming to a halt.

Chako stayed silent until the magical girl finished speaking, then she replied, "I'm aware that things can hurt... I actually disabled the pain limiters as soon as I started playing." Chako gave out a wry smile, "Didn't really want them to get in the way of my experience, you know?

"Just... I was a bit... Surprised?" Terrified, actually, "Surprised at how I can actually be so terrified at things... I don't think I was ever this scared in my life? Or rather, I'm pretty sure of it.

"Still... I don't want to leave." Chako's trembling restarted, if only for a brief moment, "It's scary... Just thinking of those wolves scares me back again. but I... I never felt as alive as I have been since I first logged in. I don't want to leave... I won't leave.

"So..." Chako finally gave out a proper heartfelt smile, "Thank you very much. You saved me.

"Uhn..." Chako's tails started fidgeting. This was really embarrassing. There's no way the magical girl hadn't introduced herself already when she made that pose, but... Chako just had to ask. No real way around it, "I couldn't hear it that well because of the explosion... Like... My ears are really sensitive." Her ears moved a bit, "Loud noises end up hurting and echoing around for a bit and I tend to not hear well for a while, so...

"What I mean is...

"... What's your name, again?" Chako was glad she was hugging the magical girl. She didn't want to look her in the eyes as she said that... It was really really embarrassing to ask the name of her savior right after she had made a triumphant entrance and everything.

Oh right!

This girl was a Nyanko so of course sounds affected her funny. It reminded Magi of her own unique traits from both when she started and the 'less savory' stuff now. If that was the case, she shouldn't have... wait, there was a pain limiter? Magi didn't remember all the things on that screen that used to appear.

"Feeling alive? I haven't thought about that much myself. I do what I have to do to be Magical Girl for everyone! That's my dream and living my dream is all that I need to do!"

Was that abnormal? Unrealistic? Magi wasn't able to tell anymore. Her existence was becoming less natural by the day.

"Tail. I want to grab it so bad. Just one pull. Real hard... really hard....!

"... What's your name, again?"

Magi blinked and then responded.

"Wendy!"

'"Wendel!"

"UHHH I MEAN MAGI! Yep, sorry eheheh...heh. Magi Heart! Magi Heart keeps things simple and it's my cool beans Magical Girl name!"

Chako giggled a bit, "Yeah... I'm living my dream right now too. Just being able to be here is already a dream come true to me." Chako let go of the hug and took one step back, "Just moving around with my own two legs is already far more than what I could have ever asked for. Even more so in a place as beautiful as Arcia!" Though it's not like Chako ever went particularly far from Honeyhome, so it's more like Eastern Brisshal was beautiful... Still, the rest of Arcia was probably beautiful too!

"Though a dream of being a magical girl, huh? I feel like that's a really... Wonderful... Dream?" Chako felt like she was being stared really intently at... Or rather... Her tails were? It felt like their movements were being carefully followed by the girl's eyes.

And then Chako started blinking a bit... Wendy Wendel Magi... She chuckled, "Then I guess I'm Lisa Chako!" She really felt like Wendy Wendel was a very weird name, but she was not going to badmouth the name that Magi's parents chose for her, "Nice meeting you, Magi!" Chako almost stretched out her hand for a handshake, but she thought of something else.

Her tails moved a bit closer to Magi, "Do you want to touch them? I don't mind." It's not like anyone had touched Chako's tails so far, but it shouldn't be a problem, right? It definitely won't feel weird or anything.

... Though then Chako wondered if it was going to make her start purring... She hoped that was not the case, as she had already offered it.

Where did all that fear from a few minutes ago go? Chako couldn't help wondering... A magical girl can truly reach people's hearts, huh?

Magi tilted her head and frowned at Chako. The girl was here for a reason much more important than what Wendy came for. It made Magi's current situation all thee more unfortunate. So it was up to her to make sure no one else suffers here... or there for that matter. If only that were possible...

"Though a dream of being a magical girl, huh? I feel like that's a really... Wonderful... Dream?"

Something made Wendy want to say NO.
Wendel had different ideas and those ideas were shared by Wendy. Too much so to say anything other than...

"It's cool beans!! I spend every day going around and helping people! Sometimes even animals and stuff!"

Animals are much easier to help long term...

Chako, or Lisa as she called herself. Offered Magi to touch her tails. TWO of them! She didn't hesitate! It had been a very long time since simple days like that. Magi grabbed onto both at once and...

Wendel began to tighten her grip. Wendy had to let go and went so far as to slap her own arm to remove the remaining hand. At least there wasn't any visible damage done to the tail..

STOP IT!
What? This is how to show love *giggle*. She doesnt use pain limiters or anything. She wants it!

"Sorry! Umm.. I can get very excitable. You did want it though right?"

Magi grabbed Lisa Chako's hand and started to pull her along with probably more force than the girl may have expected.

"I'm taking you away from here. You're asking for pain if you stay. Honeyhome here we come *giggle*!"

Nyanko wasn't UI locked yet... so Wendel couldn't resolve her problem the way she'd prefer.

Chako smiled, "Yeah! You certainly helped me a lot there!" And she started giggling when imagining Magi climbing a tree to rescue a cat that couldn't go down on its own and the like-

Then suddenly, Chako felt pain, "N-nyaaa!?" My tails. My tails hurt. They hurt a lot-

And just as suddenly as it started, the pain mostly faded away as Magi let go of them.

Chako took a step back and hid her tails behind herself before Magi apologized, "Y-yeah, I can see that-"

"You did want it though right?"

"M-me!? I-I just offered because-" Chako couldn't finish before Magi started pulling her.

"M-Magi! Y-you're hurting me!" Chako said as she was dragged along.

Honestly, Magi was very weird. The way her expressions changed around so much, and how forceful she was being now... Still, Chako was not going to mind some weirdness from her savior.

So, even as she was dragged along, and struggled to not trip with each step, she still tried to make some small talk, "S-say, d-do you like Honeyhome? Or the forest here in Eastern Brisshal? I-I'm liking it a lot, you know? Exploring one small part of it each day! It's being tons of fun!" Even if today was terrifying, "A-and I'm glad too! Not just for the chance of exploring it myself and getting all kinds of wonderful sights, but also because I could meet people like you! A-and like", Chako really hoped she wasn't overstepping here, but she really wanted to say her mind right now, she really wanted this to go well, "t-to make friends like you, you know!?"

"M-Magi! Y-you're hurting me!"

"You're the one with the pain limiter off."

Magi ignored Chako's plea and continue to move through the woodlands towards Honeyhome. The familar puffs of smoke from chimneys signaled they were closing in.

"I've seen a lot more than just Honeyhome. Did you know? Astorea is surrounded by enemies and every region is falling to it's own curses. *Giggle* Gee whiz, Astorea is a curse too."

"Which is why we need to do our part to help."

Magi stopped as the village drew even closer. The chances of monsters appearing was slimmer than before at least.

"t-to make friends like you, you know!?"

"Wowzers! I don't think you want to make friends with someone like me. I'm ummmm... I'm complicated eheheh...heh."

Magi's evoke state wore off as she returned to much less frilly attire. Her skin covered via long sleeves and leggings to prevent the skin alterations from being seen. They were harder and harder to conceal while not using her magic form.

"Okies. So, you should be all good now! As long as you don't run and trip, hehe! Getting too addicted about having something you've wanted can ruin it."

The small refreshed memory of her days desperately trying to be a source of authority in middle school as a hall monitor came to her. When all she was, was a short otaku nerd that didn't even talk about boys yet. She had forgotten that being here all this time. It didn't take long for the thought to be replaced with the need to continue her purpose however. She had the power to help others and that was all she needed to do.

"Always be careful when traveling outdoors! That's what Magi Heart says!"

She turned and offered a wave as she walked away towards the deeper forest.

Chako did not know how she was supposed to react to the comment on the pain limiter... Like, it only mattered because she was holding way too tightly!

Was this meant to be a warning of sorts? That things could hurt? Chako wasn't sure, but... "I can't feel my legs properly with the pain limiter on..." She replied honestly. Chako was not going to keep anything that dulled her senses on. That would remove the point of being in Terrasphere.

The next words seemed to reinforce the idea of a warning... Regions being cursed. Astorea being a curse. Enemies everywhere... Chako nodded to Magi's words, "Even if I find other scary things, I'll do my best to overcome them!

"And... I'll rely on the help of any nice people who are there to aid me."
Chako smiled even while feeling the pain in her hand.

Perhaps Magi was just clumsy and didn't know how to best express herself and how to warn people in a more sensible manner, kinda like that white-haired girl in that really old anime, 'beats of the angels'... Chako didn't like the pain, but she still felt more at ease while thinking like that... Magi really was a good girl, after all.

"Ain't we all complicated?" Chako chuckled. All Starcalled were people who had strong enough reasons to play an illegal game, after all. Chako may not know Magi's reason, but she could understand that Magi cared a lot about the people in Arcia... Perhaps it was a much more complicated reason than a simple disability like Chako had.

"No promises on not tripping, but I'll do my best!" Chako said with a wave of her pained hand as Magi finally let go of her when they arrived at Honeyhome, "I'll be careful! You take care of yourself too, Wendy Wendel!" Chako smiled as Magi was going back to the forest.

It was the first time she exchanged real names with anyone in Terrasphere... That alone brought a smile to her face... Hopefully Chako will be able to help Magi out too on the next time they meet.
