All signed and sealed? Good.
Welcome friends new and old to Bottle Excursion.
Uncharted lands, treasures, challenges, we'll face it all...
..But, with your expertise, I trust we'll be up to the challenge.
Otherwise, this'll have been a huge waste of all our time.
And that, would be a huge bummer.

Lets begin the briefing,

Each of you has been chosen and signed a lucrative contract to train my bottles to face the various challenges we will undoubtedly encounter in the establishment of a training base, here, in the middle of nowhere.

That's all and well and good. You may notice that I keep emphasizing the training of the bottles, so let me emphasize that some more:

I don't want you guys handling anything!

That's right, if I were just to ask you to take care of everything there would be no point. The bottles wouldn't get any better and their operational limits would never increase.

Instead, think of those little worthless bottles as your arms and legs and figure out how to make them worth a damn. That, my friends, is what this is all about. And, what your salvage-rights contract is paying you for.

And, because I've heard gamers like systems, I've devised a little something to hopefully make the process fun and clear. This chart will ultimately be an abstraction of the entire process, let it guide you.

With that in mind, the first step will be establish a base.

How you tackle the training base and ultimately what shape it takes is all up to you guys.

I'll chime in here and there with some situation reports, but ultimately it's your call.

That's the point.

This is about you.

And what you make of it.

Good luck, I'll be right here along side you.

Let's get to it, go ahead and take a look at The Situation Room:

The Situation Room:
Glam Says:

Attention. Attention. Can everyone hear me loud and clear? If you're wondering where my voice is coming from you're either right next to me or you listening through one of my amazing Bottle Coms.

As I mentioned, I've established a handy dark magic user interface system to keep track of things...

...They're sticky notes made of dark magic and aracanamancy. Lesson one, don't fix what isn't broken.

You can also bring them up at any time with your personal Com Bottle. You don't need to know how it works, it's voice operated.
Anyway. Below you'll see that I've laid out a few tasks for you.

Sometimes I'll choose them as we need, and sometimes they'll be the result of random discoveries.

Either way, plan to be prepared for any of them.

The most important one is The Big Day.
Think of those as the main mission.
No Big Day should probably ever be a surprise.
Note their deadlines and plan accordingly...

The Current Big Day is related to the establishment of our Main Base. If we're going to make it out here in uncharted territory we'll need one. Who knows what we'll encounter?

I've broken up the components for the Main Base into three parts.

We'll need to pass One Labor Card, One Craft Card, and One Knowledge Card at 30.

You can decide the subcategories to define our strategy.

In the future, the card needs will arise randomly to describe whatever challenges we face. I know you're up for it. Or rather, the bottles you train will be up for it. Remember?

That's all I've got for now. I'll be working on a support project that should be done by the time our base is operational.

Good luck.

Oh right, we're working with Dark Magic here so manage your SP carefully...
This is an endurance race. No use burning your candle from both ends, got it?
I can't be responsible if you start going... loopy... well I'm sure you'd still be fine.
It's nothing all that serious...

...That's all for real this time.

Over.

By: Next Round.

Player Options:
Each round or intermission, players may…
Note: purchases are resolved in the numbered order.

1)
Train the Bottles in a Expertise: (10SP per 1d10)

-Players can spend 10SP to roll one 1d10 for the chosen expertise category.
-Players can buy as many dice as their SP allows.
-On a 10-roll, the dice explodes.
-On a 1-roll, delete the highest expertise roll made.

2)
Specialize in an expertise: (50SP)

-Choose an expertise and Roll 1d5.
-Permanently gain the result's amount of bonus rolls when training bottles in this expertise.
-This can stack infinitely.
-Takes effect the round after purchase.

3)
Submit a Proposal to Glamdark: (100SP)

A: Bottle Design:
Design a new category of specialized bottle.

-Choose an expertise: A new sub-bar will be created for it.
-Roll 1d200, this will determine the new design's starting expertise level.
-Roll 1d3, this will determine the number of defects the new model has.
-Specialized bottles double the results of training for their unique bar.
-There can only be one specialized bottle in each expertise category.

B: Management Request:

Glamdark naturally and randomly comes up with management decisions each cycle and most of them are not very good. You may guide Glamdark towards certain challenges by managing projects yourself. Pick one option:

-Choose an expertise. That expertise may be applied to all available cards next round.

-Choose up to 3 cards on the board. They will be selected next round.

C: Glam decides:
-Glamdark will create or upgrade three random bottles.

4)
Special Bottle Actions:

-Some bottles will create new abilities to be utilized.
-This will be updated as the story proceeds.

"This is an endurance race. No use burning your candle from both ends, got it?"

"Got it!"
Hanno nodded, proudly even though he was just about to completely ignore @Glamora Dark's advice and put these bottles to work as hard as their glassy arses could muster.

"Let's train them, buddies. I will see about getting them some good physical exercises."

Hanno wondered what the others would do (@Siondhe, @Lune, @Luthien, @FORTUNE), but he knew they would do a great job.

Turning to face the Bottles, Hanno clapped his hands with his gauntlets, making the metals echo and catch their attention, making their glassy bodies shiver with the vibration of the sound waves. Crossing his arms, he puffed his chest. "Now now. If we are going to have a main base, we need strength. Numbers and smarts are good, but these we already have with a Bottle army and the Dark Master Glamora Darkness' huge brain that is so big it nearly leaks out of her ears." He clenched his fist and aimed it forward as a sign of encouragement.

"What we need now is MUSCLES." He flexed the arm that was thrusted forward, making his biceps bulge. "So let's do it. Each Bottle get a partner, we are going to have a warm up. Let's go, let's go. One, two, one, two, one two!"

Hanno roared, and Ghast, the shield, wagged her tentacle back and forth as if she was a metronome.

The Bottles paired up, holding each other hands, stretching their glassy muscles while Hanno cheered them on. When the warm up ended, the Bottles were already heaving.

*heaving glass sounds*

"Tired already? We didn't even start it yet." He approached a duo, tossing them quarterstaves.

?!

One of the Bottles managed to barely fetch the quarterstaff, accidentally hitting it against a friend next to it, making it fall and roll away with glassy screams. Another failed to hold it, with the quarterstaff going straight to its 'face' and forcing its cork out of its head.

Hanno shook his head in disapproval, but it was lighthearted. He then gestured the Bottles to try and keep up with him, and they went through every type of unorthodox exercises. Fetching agile chickens bare handed, lifting boulders and throwing them on a lake to try to make it skip at least twice, playing tag with Ghast chained on their legs, challenging Hanno on chess boxing matches, and the hardest of them all: Swimming up a waterfall.

The Bottles suffered one after another, gritting their corks and brutally forcing their strength out with everything they could muster in the depths of their liquified contents. Some Bottles cracked and needed some band-aid, others were so exhausted that they needed to be refilled.

But they never gave up.

Every defeat was a step to the victory. Every crack was a mark of growth. Every cork lost was a sign of maturity.

Fermenting everything in their core, they eventually achieved what they could.

The chickens were fetched with their eggs!

Boulders skipped not only twice, but thrice!

They used Ghast as a sled for advantage when playing Tag!

With a fierce exchange of a pawn for a queen, they checkmated and knocked out Hanno!

And then... A singular Bottle swimmed, as hard as it could... And it reached. It reached the peak of the waterfall!

The other Bottles cheered on, they had hope...

They were strong!

"I'm Running LATE!" She couldn't help it but break character, specially as most of Glamdark's instructions went over her head. However, it was only but a glimpse at Hanno's work, and those glassy buddies of his, that she got a general idea of what to do. They had to train, they had to become stronger, faster, better.

She rose a hand, clearing her throat first before her declaration, in a much more solemn and non-squeaky tone, "Halt, Miss Dark!" She gave her no time, as the fox girl jumped quite literally infront of @Glamora Dark. "We has't a problem. Big one. See our palmy, glassy leigemen?" They had certainly grown stronger given @Hanno Futaba's recent efforts. Quick learners, that bunch, yet her finger was no less accusatory to the bunch. "They art missing something vital f'r our success..." A serious frown rested on Elesis's face now, turning around with a spin of her heel to face Glamora yet again.

????

A hand went down to her tankard, with it's lid perfectly sealed and the wooshing of it's contents proving it to still be full. As soon as the lid was open however, the sweet aroma of apples mixed with the strength of booze itself would hit them both, with Elesis swinging her tail around as she smiled.

"Refreshments, Miss Glam! The ambrosia of the heart: booze! 'r peradventure thy leigemen art far moo acquaint'd with sugary drinks of dubious origins such as... Soda?" She scratched her chin with her free hand, the left pulling the tankard closer to her lips to give it a sip. "I, Elesis Blackstone, would like to giveth myself to instruct thy humble leigemen in the culinary arts of brewmaking. Of course, requiring thy permission first and foremost. Our bottl'd knights shalt becometh the most wondrous brewmasters in the land under our guidance. Yond i can gage!" She was almost ready to seal the deal by sharing a glass of her own vice to Glamora, stretching her arm as far as it can to offer the tankard to the Dark Magician.

She didn't want to recall how exactly she got contracted to train Glam's bottle army to do things. Lune also didn't exactly remember how they all arrived in this middle of nowhere with the others, but that's not important, for now.

A voice came out from one of the bottles, as if it was a codec call from one of the most famous stealth game franchises.

"Alright, so we gotta make a base. A mother base." She came to a weird conclusion, turning to the others. "Guess gotta train those things... Let me see..." Thankfully, Glamdark provided them with guides on what they should train the bottles in. Hopefully, they have advanced machine learning AI.

"Cultivation, that shouldn't be hard." The woman motioned to the bottle to follow her motions, and they did so, all sitting down one by one. "Okay. First, take deep breaths, sit down, and try to concentrate your inner qi into your core. After a while, you should be able to feel...."

In the middle of their meditation session, one bottle came to her side to let her know about something.

"... Wrong type of cultivation?"

Among those resources provided to them, she pulled out one book; Dummy's Guide to Cultivation.

"I'm just gonna read this book for a while then."

As usual one thing had led to another and, before Lúthien realized it, the ranger had signed a contract to help Glam train her Bottlalion—loosely remembering that Toko had talked about them the last time Yugam and her had been in Honeyhome. "These are actually pretty cool~" She looked down at the bottle in her hands, weightier than she would’ve originally expected for one of its size, before chuckling softly—reminded of Ronja’s little Aid-Lings.

"The glass looks really sturdy too," A nail lightly tapped its surface, eyes squinting as she tried to get a glimpse within, though the task was difficult even for her elven eyes. "Does uncorking them hurt them or…?"

A simple but important question as the blonde pondered on the full usefulness of the bottles, before the excited quips of a vixen filled the air with her own ideas for the little ones. Her steps easily took her towards the familiar snow-haired woman, offering Lune a smile and a wave once she had her attention. "Stumbled into the Dark Parlor, huh?"

Surprise colored her eyes when a voice came from the small bottle riding on her shoulder, recognizing it as Glam’s as it briefed them on the witch’s expectations and their first goal. The network itself reminded Lúthien of her own telepathic comms, albeit the usefulness of this one far surpassed the ranger’s own.

Hanno led a large bottalion through a training regime that Lúthien was certain she’d seen somewhere before, while Lune seemingly opted on helping the bottles focus their inner energy—or at least that's the last thing the ranger had heard before she became lost in her own thoughts, a finger tapped her bottom lip as the elf pondered on what knowledge she could impart. Her gaze roved over the information found on the various sticky notes presented, before one of the expertise caught her attention.

"This could prove useful, bases need supplies after all." She’d also caught bits and pieces of the beastfolk’s conversation with Glamora—and whatever refreshments the caenis came up with would also require ingredients. "Alright little one, pay close attention and take notes—‘cause Imma quiz a bunch of you after we’re done~"

Thankfully the knowledge was still fresh in her mind, and a quick look around caused the elf to spot various herbs and other materials that Toko had pointed out and instructed her on not long ago.

Little by little the ranger imparted what she’d learned to the bottle that accompanied her; pointing out the small details that would differentiate a herb used for healing potions versus its unkind cousins that would have someone sitting on the “throne” for hours, and the difference in mushrooms that made them and other local plants safe and edible when cooking hearty and delicious meals in any camp.

-60 SP - Train Bottle, Crafting

Well, this was certainly not what FORTUNE had expected when she'd signed herself up to help her partner in crime. Although, at this point, FORTUNE should have learned to never have expectations when it came to Glam. She had the wonderful habit of taking every expectation and throwing it out the window. Or wait, rather she took the window and threw that. Where was anyone's guess.

At the very least though, FORTUNE could pretend to understand what Glam was talking about as a small group of bottles started to form a circle around FORTUNE and...dance? "Uhm, Glam, darling, is this normal? Is this some kind of...initiation ritual?" What in the fuckity fuck fuck was going on? No matter, they had a job to do!

FORTUNE clapped her hands twice, "Alright babes! We got work to do! Uh..." Except FORTUNE didn't know the first thing about making a base. A Faerin was making some bottles work out, another girl was...reading...Another was swinging around a bottle of what smelled like booze, and another was making the bottle pick herbs. Well, at least a couple of them were helpful? Moreso than FORTUNE was. "Let's see...uhm..." They needed places to live, and maybe to know how to mend clothes. Did bottles where clothes? No matter. "Grab needles and thread! Let mama teach you a thing or two about stitching up tents!" Did bottles need those either?

The others seemed to set about their tasks immediately and without hesitation, looking to train the bottles in whatever ways they possibly could. Siondhe considered leaping in, providing guidance and a helping hand - before realising that she was among experts. Experts who clearly knew what they were doing better than she was.

Hesitant and uncertain, she found herself sitting back, considering the options available to her. She felt herself biting her lip, and realised how she must look to the others. Sighing slightly, mostly to herself, she stepped forwards and began doing the one thing she knew - entering her own area of expertise.

It may not be much...but I know animals. And animals come with all sorts of natural benefits...maybe it could help here...

She followed the lead of the others, focusing on her task even as they worked around her, letting her own task take control of herself. She was still uncertain, feeling as if she was out of place, but every time she looked up, she flashed a smile towards the others. Is this what it feels like to be included?

==CHAPTER 2===

@Hanno Futaba Reply:
Great work Hanno. Maybe a little too great. They’re not also going to start calling themselves my knights are they? Please no.

@Elesis Blackstone Reply:
*Sips* Oh, this is good. What is it, Rootbeer? I’ve never had it before. Thank you. You know what? We could make a killing selling this. Actually-no. I want to keep this for myse—we should keep this for ourselves. Thanks for your contribution, I’ll see what I can do with this.
(Glamnote to self: I have no idea what this person is saying.)

@Lune Reply:
Lune I feel like we’ve been through a lot together, and I still feel like you would kill me with your bare hands if I ever criticized you. So just keep doing what you’re doing buddy.

@Luthien Reply:
I don’t think we’ve met, but it sounds like I lucked out finding you. You’ve got a great head on your shoulders. Taking off their stoppers will release the dummy-soul inside killing them. It’s not a big deal though because I can always stuff it back into a new bottle. In fact, you seem very kind. If any of those bottles give you grief, go ahead and do just that.

@FORTUNE Reply:
JESUS! What the hell Fortune, I thought you were a ghost! You’re actually here? You’re not actually some hallucination of my guilty conscience? YOU’RE ALIVE?! Would a letter have been too much? JEEZ.
Long sigh
It’s not an initiation, but it is a ritual. The bottles just like to dance. They pick up the strangest things. We’ll have to catch up over the course of this expedition. I’m sure we’ve both missed a lot…

@Siondhe Reply:
You seem like one of those smart wallflowers that knows all kinds of funny and odd stuff. So, just do what feels natural. If you've gotta kick a bottle down a ravine to see if they’ll climb back up, do it. Remember, you’re in charge. Everyone’s counting on you. No pressure. Heh. Heh. Heh.

~~~~~~~~
Okay everyone, make yourselves comfortable, but not too comfortable!
It's time to begin the briefing!
We've successfully met our goals in establishing a base.
Excellent work everyone, we all deserve a pat on the back. Now that we have a foothold, It's important that we keep our momentum up and maintain a proactive mindset. Having a base is nice, but it isn't without costs to maintain it. We're not just here to maintain either.
With that in mind, new tasks have been added to the situation board. As we begin to expand our influence it goes without saying that we're going to encounter more stuff. It's no cause for alarm, actually, these are fantastic opportunities----not just to train the bottles----but for ourselves.
Here in the middle of nowhere, things may surprise you or seem completely out of the ordinary. That's normal.
I'm trusting everyone to deal with whatever strange happenings that pop-up to the best of your abilities, in whatever ways you deem fit. Within reason of course!
Don't forget, you're not alone, if something seems like too much, lean on the others around you. We're all in this together.
Briefing over.
Let's get to it, go ahead and take a look at The Situation Room:
The Situation Room:
Glam Says:
Attention. Attention. Can everyone hear me loud and clear?
We have a number of new cards on the board and some of them seem like a doozy.
Fret not! We don't have to accomplish them all this round!
When you've been in business as long as I have you learn that you simply can't do everything at once. It's impossible. It isn't worth it. It's a pain. Instead, hedge your bets. I'd advise picking the ones that you think would deal us the most damage if they came up at a bad time.
I'd say, 3 cards will likely test our expertises next round. Unfortunately, our survey corps won't be able to determine which ones. Like I said, hedge as best you can and gamble for the big prize when you see the chance for it.
Cards resolve when they're cleared. If a card isn't resolved it'll stay on the board next round in most cases. Keep this in mind. No effort is wasted.
You may notice that we don't have an exact difficulty score. If that bothers you, upgrade the Scouting Report.
In line with that, you may notice we have bottles called "Special Support Types", for them to take effect, get them to at least level 1.
That about covers it. This may seem tricky at a glance but I know you're more than up for it.
As a final note, our next Big Day Objective is rather free form, there's no score to worry about.
As I mentioned in the briefing, we need to stay proactive, and that means deciding what it is we're going to focus on and how. To do this, we'll need to pick some industries...
That should cover it.
Over.
Power Sports: 1d100
Weird Giant Boulder:
We’ve encountered a Weird Giant Boulder in our way. It’s weird because no matter how one tries to get around it, it always seems to have you right smack dab in the center. Like one of those creepy paintings where the eyes follow you. Also, it won’t stop singing. Deal with it somehow.
Fine Sports, Tailoring, Linguistics: 1d50, each
Ruff Riders:
“The Borkish Horde is coming to Play Darts, Sew Sweet Patches onto our Denim Jackets, and Tell Hard-ass Stories. Ride Ruff. Howls Yeah Brutha. Howls Yeah Sista.”
That’s the message we received. I don’t know either. Hospitality is a display of power. Show them we’re powerful. Show them a good time.
But, don’t let them take advantage of us either.
Theatrics, Carpentry, Cultism: 1d50, each
Dark Culture Fest:
If our amazing exploits are going to be remembered, then we’re going to need an amazing culture to back it up.
That’s right, we’re throwing a Dark Culture Festival to celebrate the completion of our base. Everyone needs to cut loose once in a while. We can order some Dark Pizzas when we’re done.
Get the bottles on it. It’s my reward for working so hard.
Cultivation: 1d100
WE NEED TO EXPAND THE MENU. I’M TIRED OF TURNIPS.
-Glamdark
Archaeology, Tailoring: 1d50, each
Treasure Map:
Finally, some headway. We’ve come across an interesting treasure map. Unfortunately, it’s very damaged and I’m not quite sure where to send the bottles.
We could wait to repair the map, then send the expedition, but that seems awfully inefficient.
Here’s a better idea, take the bottles with you and repair the map as you go. Won’t that make things easier?
You’ll have all the landmarks to help you. I know, no need to thank me.
Good luck out there and let me know if you find anything weird.
(BIG DAY) Decide our Industry!
Clear: Each player may optionally choose 1 expertise to contribute to help decide our story path.
By: Next Round.
Player Options:
Each round or intermission, players may…
Note: purchases are resolved in the numbered order.
1)
Train the Bottles in a Expertise: (10SP per 1d10)
-Players can spend 10SP to roll one 1d10 for the expertise(s) of their choice.
-Players can buy as many dice as their SP allows.
-On a 10-roll, the dice explodes.
-On a 1-roll, delete the highest expertise roll made.
2)
Specialize in an expertise: (50SP per 1d5)
-Choose an expertise and Roll 1d5.
-Permanently gain the result's amount of bonus rolls when training bottles in this expertise.
-Players can buy as many dice as their SP allows.
-This can stack infinitely.
-Takes effect the round after purchase.
<New!> *Bottle Design! The first time you specialize in an expertise you'll receive a new personal bottle model for it. (Roleplay)
-You may name the bottle model and decide its personality-type if you wish. Glam can also decide. (Roleplay)
-New specializations can give you new bottle variants, or you can contribute it to expand the capabilities of your first model. Your choice. (Roleplay)
-Roll 1d3 to determine how many defects it has.
3)
Submit a Proposal to Glamdark: (100SP)
A: Bottle Design:
Design a new category of specialized bottle.
-Choose an expertise: A new sub-bar will be created for it.
-Roll 1d200, this will determine the new design's starting expertise level.
-Roll 1d3, this will determine the number of defects the new model has.
-Specialized bottles double the results of training for their unique bar.
-There can only be one specialized bottle in each expertise category.
B: Management Request:
Glamdark naturally and randomly comes up with management decisions each cycle and most of them are not very good. You may guide Glamdark towards certain challenges by managing projects yourself. Pick one option:
-Choose an expertise. That expertise may be applied to all available cards next round.
-Choose up to 3 cards on the board. They will be selected next round.
C: Glam decides:
-Glamdark will create or upgrade three random bottles.
4)
Special Bottle Actions:
-Some bottles will create new abilities to be utilized.
-This will be updated as the story proceeds.
San-Delusions: (Can occur at 35 or less SP)
Phobia of X = Disadvantage when Training X.
Obsession of X = Advantage when Training X. Only obsessions may be selected.
Ability Fan = You must use at least one ability per round if you can afford it.
Shock Therapy = If you have a Phobia, you must roll it.
Super Team Player = Advantage on what others rolled on, Disadvantage on what they didn't.
Nerd = Training Knowledge-Types is half-cost per die. Labor is doubled.
Jock = Training Labor-types is half-cost per die. Knowledge is doubled.
Glamfan = If you can afford a “Glam decides” Proposal, you must purchase it.
Glamenomics = After training bottles, roll 1d2. 1= half the result. 2= double the result.
Goose egg 1 = You’re okay, unless you hit zero or negative. If you did, you’re a bottle.
Goose egg 2 = You’re okay, unless you hit zero or negative. If you did, you’re a bottle.
Goose egg 3 = You’re okay, unless you hit zero or negative. If you did, you’re a bottle.
Goose egg 4 = You’re okay, unless you hit zero or negative. If you did, you’re a bottle.
Goose egg 5 = You’re okay, unless you hit zero or negative. If you did, you’re a bottle.
"They're not also going to start calling themselves my knights are they?"
"Noooooooo...................................?" Hanno peeked behind his back, and the bottles were severely confused by his reaction, but soon he approached them, and reassured:
"She just means that calling yourselves her knights isn't enough, you must be very genuine and shower her with compliments, important titles, sufixes, prefixes and some other buzzwords." He whispered to them, covering his mouth to avoid letting @Glamora Dark read his lips.
Now understanding the situation, the Bottles of the Round felt relief washing their glassy hearts. To think lady Dark Master Glamora Darkness wouldn't want them to be her knight!
"Okay okay, no more lazing around, come on!" Hanno clasped his hands. "Let's going to work, you have heard the master, the next big objective is coming... In the form of cards..? And Freeform? Whatever that means." Hanno roared, encouraging (and hurrying) the bottles to start working. The others were making sure their bottles were being well trained, so Hanno couldn't let them stay behind...
"Dark Master Glamora Darkness—" Hanno rushed to approach the fellow faerin, kneeling down.
The other bottles kneeled as well, making a very strict formation.
!!!
"Glorious, supreme, all-mighty, powerful, overintelligent, the most imponen— [...] —greatest of 'em all milady Dark Master Glamora Darkness of the Darkest."
*repeating everything, but in glassy speech*
Hanno rose his head, with his teal scarf billowing with the wind that came out of nowhere. "Your knights are ready to face the following challenge. Trust our strength and allow us to face whatever enemy or obstacle with our loyalty and Power Sports, that we have been training arduously!"
He said, bowing his head again.
"Give us your blessing!"
While at it, Hanno peeked a few times at Glamora with his half narrowed eyes, doing his best to keep his laughter inside of his mind.
Finishing the book, she walked around the base that was somehow built in such a short time. One card on the board caught her attention.
WE NEED TO EXPAND THE MENU. I'M TIRED OF TURNIPS.
-Glamdark
Baffled, Lune tossed away the card. "Well, maybe it's a you problem then." She turned to the bottles which were still meditating their qi even after she finished the book about farming and cultivating. "You heard her, let's go expand the menu."
One bottle walked up to her and started fortnite-emoting, prompting the woman to grab and shake it, and some metallic-looking seeds came out.
"Alright, whatever these are, we're planting it."
By some meditation-magic, the knowledge that Lune got from reading the Stardew Valley guide was already passed to the bottles, allowing them to plow the lands and sow the seeds.
Minutes passed, and the bottles were already getting tired, and some complained. "Hmm... Should we try to lobby and negotiate for a less strict deadline?" Lune thought, planning to teach the bottles in the art of politics, shaping them into The Global Elites.
JESUS! What the hell Fortune, I thought you were a ghost! You're actually here? You're not actually some hallucination of my guilty conscience? YOU'RE ALIVE?! Would a letter have been too much? JEEZ.
"ME!?" FORTUNE shouted at the disembodied voice, the vein in her forehead visible bulging. "WHAT ABOUT YOU, YOU JUST UP AND DISAPPEARED, I THOUGHT YOU FUCKING DIED!" she continued to shout as the disembodied Glam voice let out a long sigh. "DON'T SIGH AT ME YOU LITTLE PIXIE!"
Whatever, FORTUNE could be mad at her business partner later. Or maybe she should reconsider calling the Faerin her business partner since she hadn't been around to help start their business, but whatever. Another day. In the mean time.
[Insert mini-montage of FORTUNE teaching the bottles gymnastics before collapsing on the floor exhausted.]
Some undetermined amount of time later, and FORTUNE was back on her feet, sipping from a bottle of water. Was it one of her students? Wouldn't you like to know, weather boy?
"Glam, sweetheart?" FORTUNE said to the air as she set aside her bottle of water for a moment. "What do you think of taking care of that Dark Culture Fest next? Sounds to me like it could be a lot of fun. Either that or maybe we should take care of that Borkish Horde..." FORTUNE's brow furrowed together for a moment. "Whatever a Bork is...Actually, yeah are they like Big Orcs or something?"
"Oh, this is good. What is it, Rootbeer?"
"Rootbeer? nay, this apple ale! ehem, beer to beest specifics. Alcohol flavour'd apple juice, of mine own own concoction. T hast healing properties, which i doubt our belov'd glass subjects can mimic without a dram holp..."
She pondered on the idea, watching those glassy fellas just run from side to side as they carried empty mugs of their own.
"But behold at those folk. so did determine, so fiercely loyal to our cause! i shalt findeth the means to grant those folk mine own holy gift to maketh most fulfilling beverages f'r us, yond i gage, Madam Glam!" It was hard not to fall heels over for these bottles. They were already demanding for more drinks to fill their bottly selves with!
It was a good time for Elesis to begin to teach the basics to them. One couldn't be a maker without being a server first, and so she had to take them to a table at least for her to put her plentiful of bottles and the Compact Magical Distiller Prompter, with all it's glowing buttons and exhausts that were far from compact sized.
"Anon mine own squires!- ah, i feeleth like captain @Hanno Futaba by declaring yond - the present day we shall learneth how to useth the CMD Prompter. I only has't one so doth not dare to damage our well priz'd property. T shouldst holp to spe'd up the process of distilling, flavouring and aging our drinks. We shall install the permanent version prompter, PvP, once we receiveth enow funds f'r such."
!!!!
Their confusion was palpable, specially given all these bottles kept shaking their mugs and smacking them together as if a bunch of drunkards in a crowd asking for more beverage, prompting a pout out of Elesis as she stomped her foot down. "NAY DRINKS WHILE WORKING... But i shalt reward thee f'r a job well done, if 't be true thee can followeth mine own instructions to the letter." She smirked, to the bottles's dismay.
But that was enough of a motivation given that they set themselves upright right away and begun to watch and learn from the foxgirl as she begun to mix and shift around the CMD Prompt, inputting buttons and such on a console that certainly looked more advanced than it should be. Magia cheap products, possibly, but that wasn't something she would disclose right now, given she created...
Their first glass of rum! Cheap, affordable, and with the taste of ten years in the future..! Or something of that sort. She couldn't tell based on the lucky bottle that managed to grab the glass. They had no face for her to read, but certainly their response seemed positive enough for them to swarm the CMD Prompt.
It was quite unfortunate that GlamDark wasn’t currently beside the elf to see the look on her face, the privilege instead granted to the small bottle that continued to ride on her shoulder and enable their long ranged comms. "Damn, did that bonk to your head after the horse caused a factory reset on your brain?" Then again perhaps the ranger couldn’t fault the little witch too much for it, the losses the Dark Parlor has incurred after the event were probably pretty substantial.
"Huh, you don’t say… I’ll keep that in mind, Glam~" A crimson gaze swept over the bottles that had milled up around the elf as Glamora suggested a disciplining method, rapid clinks echoing shortly after through the comms as their tiny glass bodies quivered and bumped into one another. "Though I doubt we’ll need it, right guys?"
Their reaction was almost immediate as the bottles hastily lined up before saluting the elf, clearly none of them were interested in experiencing an uncorking any time soon.
Before long (or had an actual substantial amount of time had passed? It was hard to tell here) their base had finished taking place. "Whoa, it looks better than I expected." Quite impressive really, especially once one considered it’d been crafted in its entirety by the bottles.
The brief meeting with Glamora about the cards and what could be expected had left a light sour taste in her mouth, mainly upon realizing that the information they sorely lacked the most was due to the bottles inability to properly scout the surroundings. "Mmm, that won’t do…" She left the remaining tasks to the others, her attention turned back to a new batch of bottles as her little Cloud Gazers did what they did best—cloud gazing.
"Alright you lot, today I’m making Whistles out of you~" Cue in the clinks and quivering, at least until the elf caught on and explained herself further. "I don’t mean that literally, but today I’ll be sharing with y’all everything the Whistles have taught me."
A light pull to the violet whistle around her neck seemed to finally calm the bottles down, the ranger kneeling down to be at a closer height with the bottalion she was focused on. "I don’t think any of you can speak, but that doesn’t mean you can’t listen into conversations and write—so we’ll be working on that instead." Part of her wondered how far GlamDark’s comm network could go, but in the odd case the bottles were blocked out of it for one reason or another it would be good to have a way of communicating between themselves, or leave useful visual marks out in the trails when required.
@Hanno Futaba Reply:
You.
What. Did. You. Do.
The Witch glared down the Knight with gritted teeth. No. Knights?!
Y-y-youuuuuuuuuuu...
She choked, as this whole parade continued. She was beat red as she fumed in annoyed embarrassment.
But, there was nowhere to escape.
Oh good lord, now there's an army of him.
She mumbled, with her hands covering her face.
I don't care! Out! Ouuuuuuuuuuuut~!
She squeaked.
Do whatever you want! So leave before I throw my boots at you!!!
She yelled as her boots sailed through the air.
A stamped scroll document flew through the air soon after:
<Approved!>
Okay everyone, make yourselves comfortable, but not too comfortable!
It's time to begin the briefing!
We faced some weird cards and we continue to. But, you guys haven proven more than capable of it.
Here's a few debriefing reports:
Cleared: Giant Boulder, Ruff Riders, Treasure Map.
[Giant Boulder] The bottles were able to just push the thing way, way back over there. It's still blocking us but we're not ready to go over there yet. So, problem solved. Nice work.
[Ruff Riders] They left a note, "We thought we were some hot dogs, but dog damn, you folks sure know how to party! HOWLS YEAH!"
Apparently they were satisfied and left us a four star review. They did say our dart playing could use some work, which pisses me off for some reason. Nice work, they said they'd be back. Maybe we should hurry up and wrap this excursion up...
[Treasure Map] We've made some great progress on this. There's some surveying left to be done, but it might just lead us to the bingo. I'll keep you posted.
Lastly, we have reports of a giant shadow but we have no idea what it is. I'm adding it to the big day so it's on our radar. Investigate when you have time.
That should cover it. New situations have popped up, figure out how to deal with them. Using the bottles, of course.
Briefing over.
Let's get to it, go ahead and take a look at The Situation Room:
The Situation Room:
Glam Says:
Attention. Attention. Can everyone hear me loud and clear?
We have some new cards, which of course, means new challenges. You're an old hand at this now, just follow your instincts like always and wrap these up. We don't wanna spend our whole lives out here.
I've posted our next big day objective, but I'm not too sure what to make of it. I figure the listed preparations ought to be enough to deal with it.
Our scouting report is also online. Congratulations. For ease of use, their report will be listed as the first card. They'll continue to do their best, but they're scatterbrained so what they find really isn't up to us. Keep upgrading them and throw numbers at the problem if that works for you.
Three cards will test us again. That's the standard amount. Once again, we don't know what they'll be so cover as many bases as you can. Everything may be happening at once out there in the field, but that doesn't mean they'll all demand our resources at the same time, thankfully.
That should cover it.
Good luck out there.
Over.
So, you remember the mysterious singing giant boulder? They apparently run in packs. Or are they rolling? Whatever. Catch one for me. More is better. Beefy Bottle Round Up, We need a damn Gym:
The universe has spoken to me and it said “bottle muscle”. It’s probably the lack of sleep and seeing all these beefy bottles strutting around lifting random objects. It’s annoying. It’s messing with my mind. Hurry up and go build them a damn gym for them to congregate in. We’ll lure them in with protein powder…
Theatrics, Carpentry, Cultism: 1d50, each
Dark Culture Fest:
If our amazing exploits are going to be remembered, then we’re going to need an amazing culture to back it up.
That’s right, we’re throwing a Dark Culture Festival to celebrate the completion of our base. Everyone needs to cut loose once in a while. We can order some Dark Pizzas when we’re done.
Get the bottles on it. It’s my reward for working so hard.
We're gonna need to pivot the base:
The bottles cheered in glassy speech when @Glamora Dark actually approved them! One even wanted to ask the great Dark Darkest Master of the Darkness for her to actually throw the boot at it, but it received a bonk for being weird.
*cheerful glassy glassy noises!*
"Good job, almighty bottles! We've received the Dark Master Glamora Darkness's blessing to continue with our work, using our muscles... And right now, she needs us to get..." Hanno checks the card. "... Move the base!"
???
"How? You are asking me? With muscles, of course! We have been using them all this time! ... Who cares if it is big? You are knights, her knights, so let's get to work. When she ask for something, the answer isn't another question, it is 'yes m'lady!', gotcha? Now let's go, let's go!"
He clenched his fist and thrusted it up in the air, and the bottles started rushing to get to work. They tried to go and use only pure strength instead of brains to try to move the base around, and Hanno was starting to feel that these bottles were becoming knuckleheads. That was no good, they needed a little more of grey mass, and to understand to use tools and the terrain to their favor.
"That's not good, stop, stooooop!"
???
"Really buddies? We are going to do things like this?!" Hanno gestured vaguely at three bottles that haven't heard his voice, and were still trying to push the base with their glassy hands.
"Make wheels out of tree trunks, throw water on the dirt to make it more slippery, make your work easier! You will strain your beautiful muscles like that, c'mon!" He tried to teach them, but many of them still seemed confused about it.
A sigh escaped from his lips, he casted a glance around. @Elesis Blackstone's bottles were cooking, @Lune's bottles were taking care of cultivation.
Clearing his throat, he changed his posture.
"Very well. It seems like you need to work on your brains. You see, our comrades could probably use our help, and we could use their help too... And in this case..."
He waved his arm toward the other bottles.
"GO HELP YOUR NAKAMA* AND TRY TO LEARN SOMETHING WHILE AT IT!!!"
Hanno roared, making the bottles shiver with glassy sounds.
*TN: Nakama in Japanese means friendship, but more importantly, it means it in a very, very deep concept. The concept of Nakama means comradery, companionship, friendship, and relationships that are nearly family-like, a strong bond that can't be parted so easily. It is like you are almost married to the person, but platonically, and no homo if they are of the same gender. Nakama is such a strong word that it has no actual translation for other languages, especially english that has such a poor and crude vocabulary. Nakama is Nakama, it isn't simply friendship. The only word that gets remotely close to Nakama, is... Buddy.
The bottles then divided themselves in three groups, one continued with Hanno, with him trying to give them an explanation about basic physics so they could work around moving the base with a bit more ease.
The second group went for @Lune's bottles, approaching carefully and nodding their bottlenecks as a faint greeting.
*we want to help!*
They clanked together, striking a pose to Lune and her bottles that were aiming for the Global Elites.
The third group went for @Elesis Blackstone's bottles. The cultivation looked easy to help in comparison to cooking. If anything, in the latter at least they could do some heavy work, in cooking it was pure technique and skills. A bottle looked to another, and sheepishly declared:
*y-you first...*
It pushed it softly, trying to convince it to go there.
*idiot! I'm so bad at cooking I've burned an egg trying to boil it!*
It protested, but eventually it approached to Elesis and her bottles, fidgeting its fingers and offering help.
One thing had led to another, and before the elf knew it she’d been teaching the bottles that had gathered around her how to carve their own arrows. "See? It looks daunting at first… but once someone explains it, and after you do it a few times, it’s not as complicated right?" She held the shaft on her hands for the bottles to inspect, excited glassy sounds emitted from them, before a few of them presented back what they’d managed to craft.
"Hmm, this one’s not bad… but the balance is a bit off, see?" She attempted to balance it by its middle on her finger and, after a few failures, shifted the stick towards the left… until it finally found balance. "This part here is thinner than the other end, gotta be careful to keep them even throughout."
One by one the ranger inspected them, giving the little bottles pointers here and there as Lúthien conversed with the bottles in the same manner she would to any of the golden whistles back at the Embertorch. "Oh this one’s really good, great job little one, just gotta be careful to sand down all of it… see, you missed a spot here and it’s rough—could cause a splinter to get ya when you’re shooting it later if you’re not careful." It was then a faint buzzing caught her attention, before an encrypted message caught her eyes and the blonde stifled a chuckle upon reading it.
The only other one present that day had been Hanno, and the faerin hadn’t made any comment about it, so for now the elf decided to play along with Glamora. Sure enough a small sack of golden coins lay inside her sleeping space, the elf carefully picking one of the coins and gently biting into it as a test… she wouldn’t put it past Glam to be conned out of proper payment by some other player with chocolate golden coins and be unaware of it.
"’perate un momento…" A hand rose to her face, fingers pinching the bridge of her nose as the ranger went over the petition made by their little dark witch. "You want to shift the whole ass base because the sunlight is shining through the windows and into your eyes…?"
She waited long enough for her words to sink in, Glamora’s face unchanging as she alluded to her “brilliant” solution, before a long and drawn out sigh left the elf. She’d already known Glamora wasn’t the best at making choices, but it felt like every time they met the little witch managed to surpass Lúthien’s expectations.
Wouldn’t curtains or blinds be a better fix for that? However, there were undeniable benefits to having a base that could be mobile if they ever encountered certain trouble or lack of resources… so, in the end, perhaps it was worth the effort—even if Glam was suggesting it for the wrong reason.
"Hey, Hanno! Mind if we work together?" The elf waved merrily at the knight as she called out to him, seeing the faerin was already in the process of figuring out this conundrum.
"Had something in mind, and these guys have gotten pretty handy with woodworking..." Perhaps they'd be able to modify their base enough to grant it mobility throughout various types of terrains if enough of them pulled their brains together. "... buuut we lack the muscle power for a big scale project like this one."
FORTUNE quietly chuckled to herself, amused by Glamdark, and quite pleased with the woman's decision to address at least one of the concerns that FORTUNE had brought up. Of course the little Faerin wanted to have her Dark Culture Festival. She was quite the character, FORTUNE thought as she smiled to herself.
Well, as promised, FORTUNE would indeed do her best to prepare for the upcoming festival (whenever that actually was). There was so much to do, food, games, and of course, performances. Thankfully, FORTUNE was quite well equipped to handle those. Her life outside of Terrasphere was almost always just another performance of one kind or another, after all.
FORTUNE spent the rest of her day teaching the bottle theater performance, how to behave to ingratiate themselves with their audience, and of course, how to strut down a runway (SHAKE THOSE GLASS HIPS!)
Uhm... Hanno...
Erm.
Are you feeling okay...?
You're not having strange thoughts are you?
You're haven't been thinking from time to time that you might want to be a bottle?
I hope not, that would be absurd.
Well then, have you been getting your proper rest?
No, I'm not worried or anything, just so long as the results are sustainable...
~~~~~~~~
Okay everyone, make yourselves comfortable, but not too comfortable!

It's time to begin the briefing!

We're continuing to make good progress towards my---our goals. Keep it up and remember to pace yourself. It'd be a waste to have you collapse right before the finish line. More than that, we've come so far that it'd be downright tragic.

Here's a few debriefing reports:

Cleared: Beefy Bottle Round Up, We need a damn Gym: / Dark Culture Fest: / WE NEED TO EXPAND THE MENU.

[Beefy Bottle Round Up, We need a damn Gym:] We were able to contain the beefy bottles. Finally some peace. Actually, I'm a little nervous, what the hell kinds of workouts are they cooking up in there...? You know what? As long as it stays contained in there, that's none of my concern!

[Dark Culture Fest:] Finally a celebration worth celebrating! We signed Dark Yearbooks, ran a Dark Maid Cafe, took a tour of a Dark Haunted House, enjoyed a Dark Rendition of the hit political comedy "Astorea, Astorea", got to witness the debut of the band GLASS who I think have a lot of potential, and finally we sang Dark Folksongs and twirled around the Dark Bonfire. The all-nighters eating dark pizzas and chatting made it all worth it.

[WE NEED TO EXPAND THE MENU:] We have three different things to eat, at last, and they're all different colors to boot. Turnips, Pumpkins, and Greenbeans. If we alternate them we can keep them all feeling fresh in our minds.

As for the Giant Shadow... it continues to be a mystery and we have no major developments just yet. It appears to be organic, but it hasn't had a major impact on our environment, like, well, a shadow. Keep preparing for anything. Mutual understanding may be the best deterrence, but strength is a very close second.

With that in mind, I've activated some emergency powers I've been saving. I don't believe in waiting for rainy days. Some of you are getting more SP to up the speed of your projects, get to it, I want this excursion to stay ahead of the curve.

Right, that should cover it. New situations have popped up, figure out how to deal with them. Using the bottles, of course.

Briefing over.

Let's get to it, go ahead and take a look at The Situation Room:

When @Glamora Dark approached and showed a concerned and caring side of her, Hanno couldn't help but smile to his buddy.

"Feeling okay? I'm feeling great! Helping the Dark Master Glamora Darkness fills me with a strange... Very happy feeling, honestly. But a bottle? Pwahahaha! What are you talking about, m'lady? I'm very glad you are worrying about me, but please, rest assured...

Why would I want to be a bottle though? Hahaha—"

Hanno laughed it off, turning away to the other bottles.

"Anyway— I hope you guys are ready! Because we are going to train extra, extra, eeeeeextra hard now. We need to make our master proud, gotcha? So help your buddies, help yourselves, and help the Dark Master Glamora Darkness!"

!!!

Happy, the bottles followed around to try and become more and more efficient to many areas, and trying to help some of their fellow bottles too, such as @Luthien's bottles, that had been working on learning more about Linguistics earlier at that day.

As time went on the elf continued to be further impressed by the little bottle beings that Glam had conjured, finding their skills and autonomy to surpass any initial expectations Lúthien had when she’d first laid eyes on them. Her little Cloud Gazers were currently doing what they did best, but only after having finished all the tasks she’d set out for the little bottalion that morning.

"Excellent work today, you’ve earned a lil’ break until dinnertime rolls in—huh?" The tiny bottle on her shoulder squirmed, gently tapping the ranger’s cheek to get her attention before a new encrypted message flashed to life. "Why wouldn’t he be okay…?"

So far anything that had befallen their little base had been dealt with successfully and with flying colors, and it’s not like the knight was a pushover either. It wasn’t long before Glamora’s screen beeped with a new message from the blonde. [ He looked fine yesterday… but I’ll check-in today just in case. ] Something had caught enough of Glam’s attention to warrant an encrypted message about it and, considering the dark witch wasn’t already known to take the best decisions on a good day, it was probably a good idea to ease her worries before briefing time rolled over.

"The bottles have been getting ground mercilessly in the gym… maybe that’s why Glam’s worried?" The faerin was certainly a reliable figure, but oftentimes those also tended to put work and responsibilities above everything else—maybe Glam was just worried he wasn’t getting enough rest? The familiar voice of the knight echoed close by as he instructed his bottalion, and the ranger adjusted her steps to head in their direction.

"Hey guys, how’s everything goin—eah puñeta!" Hands quickly covered her mouth as her gaze zeroed in on one particular bottle bigger than the others and sporting a familiar teal colored ponytail. He was currently guiding the other bottles via example, and she even spotted a few of her Cloud Gazers mingling around his bottalion.

"H-Hanno… is that really you?!" A closer inspection confirmed what the ranger had feared, this wasn’t just a bottle that was mimicking Hanno… no, it was actually Hanno’s head on a bottle body. "Oooh boy, what the… fuuuck! Alright, uuuhm, we can fix this probably… maybe... Glam what the fuck..."

Unsure of what to do the blonde quickly instructed the tiny bottle on her shoulder to contact the first person that popped into her mind: Lune.
