While Kamala tried her best to make @Chrys look more competent than he was making himself out to be, both her pathfinders were clearly not buying it. The massive mountain man kept professing he knew such a merchant, but so far? So little faith in him was materializing in thin air. Fortunately for them, they would finally meet their savior, and Kamala couldn't help but heaved a sigh in relief.

That was until the same merchant was clearly playing, or rather preying on the mining company owner's own inflated ego. Tariq was having none of it, though, so once allowed, he swiftly walked into the shop, followed closely by a meek Khadija, and immediately browsed through the wares. He seemed more interested in the task at hand than in meeting a new acquaintance. "The kind that'll wound a cultist. Have anything interesting to boot?"

Kamala immediately shot the elf merchant an apologetic look, as if she was the mother to the entire congregation. The elf simply smirked at that, and after following them all inside, took the lead over Tariq, showing him what could be considered interesting for the archer/pathfinder. "We do have a new shipment from last night... Trick arrows. Some made to knock someone out with one hit to the face, a few will spray sticky foam when the tip collides with another solid matter, and there's even a bunch of them that should shock the targets unconscious as soon as it hits them."

Tariq studied all the aforementioned arrows before immediately making the purchase, gesturing towards Chrys as the source of the payment. "We'll take them all. He'll pay for them."

Kamala turned to Chrys with wide eyes, caught surprised and embarrassed.

"W-wait a second, Tariq... That doesn't sound fair. We do have the money..."

"Don't worry, Kamala," came his swift and uninterested reply. "They're friends, aren't they? I'm sure she'll give him a discount. Because friends." That was obviously not how such businesses worked but Kamala could only turn to Chrys with a wondering expression. Would his so-called friend really give him a discount?

Never gonna give you up never gonna let you down never gonna roll around and rock you

Chrystopheles didn't appreciate being put on the spot like that. Then again, he should have expected it from @Kamala Graham's rude pathfinder. The guy one. The girl one was okay in his book, so quiet and meek and with zero complaints. The guy one's the troublemaker, and before the end of this adventure, Chrys was going to make sure he gets his just desserts.

"It's all right, Kamala! I'm rich as fuck. No discounts needed. I'll pay in full."

With the bravado of the richest man in the game, Chrystopheles announced his privilege, walking gracefully toward the elven merchant to arrange for the payment. On the surface, he was grinning from ear to ear, barely affected by the pathfinder boy's stupid assumptions. Inside, however, he was planning the same boy's disappearance. Pathfind your way out of Lyrwick's many dangerous mines, asshat. We'll see who gets the last laugh.

Viryana raised an eyebrow, amused at the turn of events. With her slender arms crossed underneath her massive honkers, she whispered to Chrys with that oh-so-alluring kitten-like voice. "You seem to have a fierce family, handsome," she purred, a sales tactic from before but now more an art of seduction. "You ever want to add me to that family, come...whenever you're around." Clearly, he was still winning even as he was losing tons of gold.

"Aha... Viryana... Of course... Maybe I'll come...by after our adventure's over, just me and you... For some...alone time, if you know what I mean."

He gave her a wink, which she took in a confident stride as she took his money, planting a soft kiss on one of his face cheeks. Then she turned to the smaller elf and the pathfinders with a wide grin on her face. "Any time you need something, loves," she gave them a quick bow, making sure her jiggly parts would jiggle. "Feel free to drop by my shop. Just don't forget to bring your rich friend over here."

Chrystopheles was in love. But love would be something to be tackled later. For now, they had the quest as a priority task. Mostly because Faerl needs to pay for his sins. Once that was over, as soon as Chrys can beat that guy's ass from Lyrwick to Tertoria or whatever that place's called, he'll come running back here. Hehehe...

Kamala could only let out a nervous chuckle as the business transaction transpired. She didn't know what else to do or say, as she wasn't as business savvy as @Chrys nor was she in the need for some bows and arrows like her pathfinders. Kamala was a druid, a magic user, and only her magic lamp was required for her to cast her magic. Well, that and of course magical energy, of which she had plenty.

"Okie dokie!"

After bidding their goodbyes to Chrys' elven merchant friend, the group officially and finally set out for the cultists' hideout, intent on getting the village's seer back, and of course, to finally end Faerl's reign of terror once and for all. As promised by the village leader, they were joined by one of their best scouts, though if their standards were the same with the weapons they tried to give them, 'best' might be the wrong word. Still, Kamala thought positively of the quiet girl who seemed to only care about her job.

"...have you been doing this long?"

Kamala tried to make small talk with a smile, only to be met with an annoyed scowl from the village's scout. The latter heaved a sigh, taking her time, shook her head, and then looked away. The boggy morass of the marsh that stretched from the village of Yrzun to their destination was all-compassing, with the bog water averaging from 1 to 5 feet deep. Fortunately for Kamala, she had her Nature Magic to keep her afloat. That and Chrys was a tall man, wasn't he? Maybe he'd play the gentleman and carry her on his back? Or maybe all that geomancy could be combined with her magic to keep them off the watery terrain's mercy.

"She's not that much of a conversationalist, is she? "

She whispered to her fellow adventurer, hoping to find an ally to distract herself from being slighted by the scout. Maybe she just needed to concentrate? It was Kamala's own fault for unintentionally trying to cloud her senses. She didn't mean to, but different folks and different strokes. The scout was just doing her job, as was promised.

Never gonna give you up never gonna let you down never gonna roll around and rock you

Chrystopheles actually appreciated the silence of their scout on loan from the village elder and thus from the village of Yrzun itself, though he was curious why they needed one in the first place since @Kamala Graham had already brought with her two other pathfinders. It might just be to show their respects to the leader and his village after they declined his offer of "premium" weapons. Chrys thought about how they could lose such a useful ally if they decline this second offer, despite how redundant and painfully unnecessary it was.

"Probably just concentrating. We all can't be as good as you and your pathfinders, Kamala."

What Chrystopheles did not appreciate, however, was how these boggy wetlands were covered with waist-high water. It was spread as far as the eye can see, especially as they ventured deeper into the mist-laden expanses of the marsh. The girl scout the village loaned them seemed to at least know the route they had to follow, but there Chrystopheles had a nagging feeling that every path eventually lead through hazardous morass and the territory of unknown monsters. Like massive slimodiles or something. Dear god, not those things again... Anything but those things!

Fortunately for Chrystopheles, there were no massive slimodiles in the area to attack them. Unfortunately for Chrystopheles, there was something else: A giant constrictor snake wading through the murky waters of the swamp. More unfortunate for Chrystopheles is the fact that he has zero Awareness, so he wasn't able to see the danger that lurked underneath. Maybe Kamala would, though? She has some Awareness, right? Oof.

Let's roll Awareness (DC 75) with each post to make it interesting hehehe. Success means we get closer to our destination (7 successes?) while failure of course means we get fucked up and fight shit or get lost or something. DM me if you have questions and we can brainstorm whatever.

Fortunately for @Chrys, though somewhat unfortunately for Kamala, the elf did have better Awareness. +20 in fact, which allowed her to catch a glimpse of the slithering serpent underneath them. Her pathfinders were just as, well, aware of their surroundings. Tariq stopped dead in his tracks when he noticed the giant snake, and although Khadija should have been crying by now based on how most people perceived her, she was pretty calm. They both turned to Kamala who gave them a nod, gesturing that they were of the same mind. Well, all three of them anyway.

"Chrys... Don't be alarmed, but there's a giant snake in the water. Don't make any sudden movements, though... We should be able... There, I see a clear path!"

On tippity toes, Kamala and her pathfinders began to move toward the clear path, the druid using her Nature Magic to keep her afloat, without even touching the bog water. They mustered all their patience and inner strength to move slowly, so as not to stir the snake's violent instincts. What they didn't know, however, was that the creature was already well aware of their presence. It was just biding its time, and time had unfortunately run out for the party.

Baring its fangs, the creature rose out of the water, ready to strike. Both Tariq and Khadija, and the on-loan scout from the village as well, readied their respective bows and arrows to shoot it down. As a look of horror dominated Kamala's face, she realized too late that it was in fact already deadset on its prey: Chrys. She screamed as the creature swatted Tariq into Khadija and the scout using only its massive tail, with one flick of it.

"Chrys! Watch out!"

But Chrys was a big boy, wasn't he? He should be fiiiiiiine!

When the Giant Constrictor Snake revealed itself, Chrystopheles instinctively shielded all three landers, @Kamala Graham's two pathfinders and the scout that the village loaned them, to ensure their survival, especially after that attack from the hostile predator. The snake even tried to capture the massive mountain man, wrapping itself around him, but the God of Rocks was too strong and too thicc to be held captive for long.

"A giant snake? Why did it have to be a giant snake? I hate giant snakes!"

Chrystopheles calmly expressed his negative feelings toward this particular creature, sending rocks and earth from underneath the bog itself toward the snake. Each projectile that was hurled, crashed into the reptile's body, causing it pain via the makeshift bludgeoning, while the sand and dust that remained swirled back toward the landers, boosting their defense. Classic Chrys!

"Gods, you're ugly! You don't even have arms and legs! That must suck for you when anyone wants a high five or a kick in the butt!"

Damn, Chrystopheles didn't have to go that hard, insulting the creature's lack of appendages, but he had to take the heat, so the rest of his party could recover and run away. Classic Chrys? Of course. The man was built like a mountain. This was his specialty.

It had been a while since Kamala was on an actual adventure, so she was a little slow and definitely pretty rusty. When the giant constrictor snake began tussling with @Chrys, she almost lost her balance, gasping at the sudden attack, even though they should have seen it coming. Well, she did, in fact.

Still, there was no preparation for that kind of attack, even from a giant constrictor snake, especially from a giant constrictor snake. Fortunately for the bite-sized elf, the massive mountain man was drawing all the ire and attention of the reptile.

"Don't worry, Chrys! I've got you!!"

Kamala tried her best to support her defender, however. The rest of their party, the pathfinders and the guest scout, were all taken down in one fell swoop. It seemed the only reason she wasn't taken down with them was that she wasn't as tall as the others, which was an irony in itself.

"...and you've got this! Teach our rude guest a lesson it'll never forget!"

With the predator fixated on the geomancer, Kamala channeled all her healing magic and focused them on him. He should be back in tip-top shape like nothing even happened.

With the pathfinders and guest scout out of harm's way, not to mention with @Kamala Graham healing him, Chrys felt highly confident about taking on the giant constrictor snake all by himself. Would it take a shorter amount of time if they just went ham and dogpiled on it? Sure, but then he won't be able to take all the spotlight.

It was also a great way for the guest scout to watch him work and perhaps share his heroics with the rest of the village later on. Free advertising.

"Don't worry, Kamala. I've got this."

Stretching his hands toward the reptile, Chrys his Auric Geomancy to screw with the earth around it, making its pathing virtually hindered. Rocks and stones poked at its girth from underneath, ruining the creature's stability. At this point, the snake should know by now that he was the only predator on this battlefield.

He then shielded himself and Kamala just in case. The battle should flow very smoothly from here on in. Hopefully, Kamala's writer doesn't forget her HP bar again.

@Chrys was having zero difficulties with the giant constrictor snake. If Kamala had the time to waste, she would've been mightily impressed. Oh, wait! She did! Because she didn't even have to waste any time, and effort, attacking the snake. With the massive mountain man taunting it, all she had to do was keep his health up and they'd be out of there in no time. Or did she?

"Here, Chrys! Let me help!"

Despite the otherwise flawless but definitely lazy plan, Kamala decided to take a step beyond her most useful tactics and instead go for the offensive. Channeling her magic into the palm of her hands, she blasted the Giant Constrictor Snake with all her mystical might to help her friend! Unfortunately, the bruised monster swatted her in response before wrapping its tail around her entire body, trying to squeeze the life out of the smaller elven druid.

"Gah! It's got me! I'm so sorry! I just wanted to help!"

Still, Kamala fought back. Although she had failed to roll out of the way of the snake's constricting tail, she prayed to the nature spirits to at least heal her and her friend. That was all she could have done by then, already exhausted from the struggle against the snake. Maybe she really should just stick to healing. That was all she was good at, it seemed.

"It's okay."

Chrystopheles responded coolly as he once again beckoned the ground to erupt beneath the serpent, bombarding it with the full might of the earth, the land's wrath! With @Kamala Graham's protection, the massive mountain man withstood the creature's final, desperate attempt at revenge, though his own brute strength would have been enough. Despite the snake's size and length, Chrys was no slouch: He was one of the strongest and thicc-est Players in the game, if not the most.

Once the creature was felled, the geomancer quickly made his way to catch the elven druid. He turned to her with a smile as she brought the two of them back to the rest of their party, all of them now able to breathe safely. Their monstrous attacker was down for the count, and they could once again resume their quest. For what it's worth.

"Everyone good?"

He knew the answer to that question. With the predator dead, they should be. But almost all of them had pains to contend with after the encounter. What's more, their journey was not even close to an end. It was just the opening salvo. Still, with his strength and Kamala's healing, it would not be so hard. They were all they needed. They should be fine.

Kamala instinctively closed her eyes when @Chrys bombarded her captor with rocks. She continued to keep her eyes close even as the creature let her go, screaming as she fell. When she stopped falling, she immediately opened her eyes, heaving a sigh of relief when she found the geomancer's familiar face looking at hers with utmost concern. The elven druid had thought she was a goner, and rightfully so! She shouldn't have put herself out there like that and should have instead focused on what she was great at: healing!

"Goodness! Thank you, Chrys!"

Catching sight of the fallen giant snake, Kamala gasped, oblivious to the fact that the rest of their party had soon caught up with them. When she noticed everyone else was back together, she gave Chrys' shoulder a tiny pat, so that he may know she was ready to be let down. Once she was back on her feet, she gathered everyone and began to channel nature's healing magic, hoping it would be enough to keep them all back to their full potential once more.

"Everyone, come close! Let me heal you!"

Once that was over with as well, Kamala heaved another sigh of relief. But there was still more to be done! Could they make it? The elf wondered if everything had been for naught. It was just their first encounter, and already, she was worried. What if they were too late? What if everything ended before they could accomplish their quest? Would it have been all for nothing? Or would their efforts be enough?

+55 HP from @Kamala Graham's Overhealed (Max HP +40) Infused Regenerative Power Heal

Chrystopheles closed his eyes as he savored @Kamala Graham's extremely potent healing. What the elf lacked in offense, she sure made up for her supportive spells. And then some. The massive mountain man was envious of her in that regard. Sure, he could destroy mountains and crack the earth beneath their feet, but what adventurer-retiree wouldn't love the ability to hear their broken bones over and over and over?

"Thank you, Kamala."

Once everyone was ready to go, courtesy of their very impressive healer, Chrys wasted no time in leading the pathfinding. Even though he shouldn't have. They had a scout-on-loan with them. Plus, two pathfinders that should have been better at the task at hand. Yet Chrys didn't want them imperiled once more. With him up front, they'd be much safer, even though he wasn't that good at pathfinding at all.

"I see something... Brace yourselves. Let me check it out first. I'll signal you if it's safe."

Carefully, Chrys made his way toward what he thought he saw, only to discover the bones of an adventurer, a long-dead one it seemed, its skeletal remains clean to the bone. Swamp vermin? Or years of decay? He wasn't that kind of smart to pinpoint the exact reason why, so he searched them instead, finding only a tiny sketch portrait of a...goblin? What a weird thing to have on him. He turned around, gestured for the others to come close, and showed them the thing with a confused look on his face.

Kamala let the others go to @Chrys first before approaching them all right after. Carefully, the elven druid took a quick peep at what the massive mountain man had found and gasped! It was the remains of an adventurer! How tragic... To have lost their life here, far from the people they loved...

"Oh, no! Poor guy..."

When she was showed the sketch, Kamala squinted and then tilted her head, scratching her chin. What did it mean? Were they able to sketch their killer? How would that be possible? Or maybe it was a sketch from some other time, from a time before they expired? Was the goblin their friend? Was it even a goblin?

"We should continue on... But first, let me just say a prayer to this brave soul..."

Kamala mumbled a quiet elven prayer for the departed, pouring her heart and soul into it, wishing the lost soul to find peace in the life ever after. She wasn't quite sure if there was such a thing in this game, in this world, but she didn't want to take that chance. Once she was done, she collaborated with the other pathfinders, scouts, and pressed forward. It was the only thing they could do. It was the only thing she could do.

Never gonna give you up never gonna let you down never gonna roll around and rock you

Coming across a forked path, Chrystopheles tried to step in, as the two other pathfinders and the one scout were still discussing which path to take. The massive mountain man has always been a massive mountain man of action, and on this journey, he would remain the same. Sure, everyone else seemed to be better at him in the field of pathfinding, but a broken clock can be right, too, or whatever, right? Using the bits and pieces of the others' discussion, Chrys began to move toward the right path, confident in his choice.

"This path seems the better choice. Follow me, children."

Even though he didn't turn around to check their faces, he was certain that they all turned to each other in confusion. After all, they were the experts. Yet Chrys wasn't going to let all three of them waste their party's time talking about this and that. Oh, no! Chrys was going to take the reins and lead them to their salvation. Besides, what could go wrong?

"Once we get there, you guys know the plan, right? Let's get the buzz!"

As if on cue, as the party moved through an area of the marsh set with overgrown ruins and rotting trees, with their self-proclaimed leader forcing his way through the path, his massiveness clanging against whatever wood or stone was close by, a hive of wasps or hornets or whatever the mutated insects were came for them, annoyed at their intrusion.

At least he didn't say 'slimodile', right? I'm sorry, children. Haiyaaah!

Kamala's spirits were lifted, her eyes brightened, when @Chrys took charge of the party, leading them closer to their destination. At least that's what she thought. When they ended up disturbing the insects, however, panic ensued, especially from the elven druid. Kamala screamed, as if her nightmare had been turned into reality, as if an old trauma was once more freed from its burial ground. That last part wasn't too far off.

"Ahhh!!! NOT THE BEES!!!"

Running away, she tried to get them off of her, eyes barely opened to see where she was going. The rest of their party panicked right after, especially her two pathfinder friends, and they ended up chasing after her. Needless to say, they all ended up in another wrong path, this time face-to-face with five strange men rising from the swamp waters as the bees or the hornets or whatever the insects were left them be.

"Oh, gosh, are they gone? ...oh, hello! We come in peace?"

The swamp men turned to each other, a little confused. Then one of them screamed something unintelligible and the rest started screaming as well. Kamala gulped, turning to the rest of their party. Was this going to be another fight? Or were they going to run? She hoped it would be the latter, waiting for Chrys to take the initiative by grabbing her and running the heck out of there!

Never gonna give you up never gonna let you down never gonna roll around and rock you

As soon as the screaming started, Chrystopheles grabbed @Kamala Graham by the arm and got the hell out of there, urging the rest of their party to do the same. What the fuck would they do instead? Just stay there and wait for the gross folks to bite them and shit? Nah, nah! Chrys wasn't going to let these swamp people infect him with their myriad of swamp diseases! He's seen the shows!

"Yo! Everyone, except the swamp dudes, follow me! Don't let their gross swamp germs get you sick or whatever!"

From the distance, Chrys heard a familiar crunching sound, a bunch of them, though it took him a while to realize what they actually were. Or at least why they were familiar. He couldn't see the source of the sounds, and he wouldn't even want to. In his head, the terror would have been insurmountable, the familiarity with which a nightmare he wouldn't wish to become a reality on even his most hated of enemies, which he actually didn't have. Not even in the real world.

"Oh, shit, oh, shit, oh, shit! Is that what I think it is? Slimodiles?! NO ONE GET NEAR THE WATERS! FIND THE GODDAMNED HIGH GROUND, ANAKIN!"

Quickly, he brought Kamala over and onto his shoulder, so he could maneuver himself better. He was no Ayna Nietzsche, but he was doing his best. What he wouldn't do for the hostile Lightning Lancer's presence, though. She would've gotten them out of there by now, probably much earlier even. Fuck the swamp.
