Best Exotic Marigold Fields

Main Hall → Panel Room

From the corner of her eye, Meera saw something strange. Or more accurately, someone who had been avoiding her online for quite a time now. Huifang? No... It can't be...

But it was! Or at least she looked like it. Meera could not forget how her friend looked even if they'd spent time away from each other. The last time they were together was during the holidays in California, at Sam's place, but they've kept in touch after. That was until the events in the game that made her stop replying to her messages. Even if it's not her, I need to see! I can't let this pass by me. I won't regret such an opportunity.

"Huifang, wait!" Dragging Sam (@Chrys) along, Meera gave chase to the silhouette of the friend she had been missing. "Huifang! It's me! Meera! And Sam! Sam's here, too! Wait! Just...let me...talk to you..."

Despite her yelling and screaming, she was starting to get impeded by the throngs and crowds of attendees at the event. None of them cared about her, about her predicament, and it was just normal, natural, for strangers to ignore other strangers. Most of the time, it ends up terribly for them. Only in few cases did it end well, and rarer in between. Meera didn't blame them for unintentionally bumping into her, causing her to lose sight of Huifang. She blamed herself for losing what could be her only opportunity.

Where are you, my friend?

Metaworlds.

They use the Meta name for advertising VR. It didn't help defend it against its many haters. Then again, in this day and age, there were so, so, so many more supporters that it barely mattered in the end. Even Chelsea who had come to hate it so. She also could see the benefits of a safe place besides real life. Just that, it was better to improve real life than to escape from it. It's one of the main ways she's resisted "that thing's" draw for so long...

Or so she'd like to believe.

Walking past the onlookers with a single bodyguard with her. He refused to leave her side the entire time once he heard about her new public image problem. The bald man kept his eyes hidden under sunglasses and hands in his pockets. This trip was not of work this year. Instead, she had to deal with the flood of emails and calls about "Her Look Alike" supposedly being in "that thing". So instead her time was spent giving a speech to a small group of (steadily decreasing) investors. Yesterday was dealing with tabloids. Several people also quit due to the combined dramas. Thankfully the NDA's had yet to be broken for the one or two that knew of VRS's investigations into "it" Ever since that last log-in, Chelsea couldn't bring herself to even think of "it's": name. The game that had quite literally controlled her like a puppet. Or that's what she assumed, the memories were a complete mess.

First, she was the infamous fallen heiress that lost her rightful claim to Nexus.
Now she's being called a murderer and a player killer in an illegal game.
Both were not lies either.

Well, the "they copy my appearance" cover has been enough so far. To not go and turn herself in, to just keep going with life like it never happened. The VRS CEO was turning into modern Nexus herself wasn't she?

"Keeping in shape was never this fun!"

"..."

@Dayeon Song was here. Working and using her charisma. That was normal behavior considering her job.

A quick glance also caught @Aisling Lane heading off to be alone. That was normal behavior considering her personality type.

"Stay here. I have the tracker bracelet... I'll stay in eyesight. Don't worry yourself."

The bodyguard hesitated but halted as the short Nexon's jerky head turned towards him. She immediately rubbed her neck but the glare remained. She needed time alone for at least a few minutes... some time to have normal behavior.

Urgh, her neck had turned too much she almost sprained it. This awkwardness since logging out was still lingering. She hurried on and honestly hoped to lose her guard's gaze. Away from Dayeon and Aisling, away from people that occasionally turned to look at her. The ones that knew the stories...

"Tsk..."

She sped up now, almost into a full run through the crowd. Her emotions were tired, she didn't want to talk to anyone she knew. She already had to undo so much damage and...

Stupids were one thing but peo-

WHAM!

She collided with a similarly sized object.

"... oof!"

Falling on her butt, Chelsea's glasses clattered to the floor, Several people walked by and almost stepped on them. She grabbed at them and placed them back on her face with a frown. Then, still sitting on the cold floor she looked at the stupid obstacle just standing in her way...

What on earth was this blonde girl wearing? Urgh... styles were such a chore. Hence why Chelsea hadn't changed hers in forever.

"Yeesh! W-Watch where you are going you, s-stupid airhead!"

"Well, I wouldn't say I have no interest...

Aisling crossed her arms. The initial rush of adrenaline was starting to fade, letting previously suppressed anxiety bubble to the surface. She wasn't prepared for Naka's question at all, which meant it took longer than she would have liked to put together an excuse. "My job involves helping people using VR technology, so it's important to stay on top of how it changes."

Her gaze wandered vaguely across the room as she spoke. Games, exercise tools, familiar booth announcer waving at her, cosplayer-

She did a double take. That was Dayeon (@Lune), the singer from the VRS party. Someone who was friends with Hanno- with Brian, and a player of Terrasphere. Some kind of celebrity.

Aisling sheepishly returned the wave. 'Did I really make an impression?' she thought, before she found herself stepping away to let another woman (@Vina Skysong) through. It was another person that sparked a strange sense of familiarity.

"Well, we probably shouldn't keep blocking the path," she said, wondering if there was a way to escape further socializiation. "And you all probably have things you came here for, so..."

"H-hey, have you heard? Dayeon Song is doing a reveal for the new Polaris Raiden just up ahead!" - "Wow, really!? Let's hurry before it gets too crowded!"

...? What? WHAT?! THE DAYEON SONG!? Here? All of a sudden? How didn't Skyler hear of this before? Was it a spontaneous marketing gig?! Gosh, and she was maybe like, 50 meters away, too! Like, from entrance-to-the-middle-of-the-main-hall away! Maybe if she'd hurry, she could get an a-

She crashed. Someone just happened to be suddenly in her way as Skyler turned and wanted to move with such velocity that even her glasses clattered to the ground! Good thing they weren't made cheaply.

"YOU watch-" Her voice came out in a low tone, like a male, before adjusting a control knob on her mask. It's a miracle Skyler hadn't fallen down too. "...it?" Having removed any filter for the time being, Skyler had to blink twice upon realizing who she was looking down on.

They've never met before.
The raven hair likely wouldn't even know Skyler.
But Skyler knew a thing or two about Chelsea R. Nexon.

She was a dirty capitalist.

The kind of people Skyler hated just because. Yet... "Ah, I'm so sorry! Are you hurt? Is everything okay?" She spoke apoplectic as she offered @Lady N a hand, grabbing a pair of glasses from the ground with the other. This was... an opportunity.

Under normal circumstances, Skyler couldn't care less if the young Nexon was the daughter of the president, but she was connected to the people and company who may or may not have been involved in the disappearance of her parents!

Skyler really couldn't believe it. If she played her cards right, then maybe this young woman was like a skip function into uncovering the conspiracy Skyler was trying to uncover and drag them all down to the ground with her! Viva La Revolution, or something.

Nonetheless, if such a high-profile target was here then there had to be somewhere close by a... huh? As Skyler was taking a look around for something like a bodyguard, she suddenly noticed that the glasses she wore were just boring normie stuff!... Wait, that meant-

With a slight panic on Skyler's face, she looked at Chelsea. The Nexon already wore Skyler's glasses! For a split-second Skyler imagined life behind bars as the Nexon did the rich-girl thing and- wait, maybe the girl was too stupid to notice just how highly illegal her rigged smart glasses truly were!

"Your glasses!" Skyler removed the glasses she wore from her face and offered them to the raven-hair. Not yet ready to call the mistake of swapping glasses.

He looked surprised when @MayoYume said something to the tune of "you came for no reason?" Sure, it made sense for most people to have a reason for doing things, but it wasn't really anyone's business but his own. From what he knew about most cultures, it was considered rude to pry into other people's affairs, especially if you didn't know them. Still, he maintained his smile and managed to not falter.

"Well, if I had to have a reason, it'd be that I'm a voice actor by trade," Jim admitted, "though technically, I've never managed to land a job, so you can probably just call me amateur at best..."

Jim placed a finger against the corner of his lip, tapping thoughtfully. That was when Aisling spoke up. "Oh, yeah, you're right," he said as he took a step back, away from the other two. He fot the sense that at least one of them wasn't really interested in talking or making friends- which struck him as odd, since they had come to a massive social event. Again managing to withhold judgment from his face, he smiled toward the woman. "Was nice talking to you, ma'am," he said, who was now exposed at being good at reading the room only when it wasn't romantic. ( @Ash Vargold )

He glanced toward Naka again and dipped his head slightly. "I hope you can find your friend, Miss Naka. Sorry for the disappointment."

Jim was never great at being in the same room with important people, and it seemed like there was no shortage of those at Metaworlds. Daeyon Song, for example- a famous face, even outside of the realm of her business. He didnt want to get tangled up in watching her ( @Lune ) giving presentations or trying to sell anything, mostly because she was a pretty face and he wouldn't really be listening to what she was saying.

And he didn't have the finances to fund that kind of head-bobbing wallet whisperering.

Perhaps more interesting was the hushed whispers of the crowd, split between fundamental disapproval and awe toward the intrepid young multi-billion dollar diva, Chelsea Nexon. ( @Lady N ) Meeting her was definitely batting outside his league, and so he made a point of not heading in that direction.

Something that did catch his attention was the area for streamers. He often watched VTubers and streamers doing their thing in his free time, wistful about being able to spend his life doing something he loved. When he saw @Vina Skysong in her cosplay, he couldn't help but be reminded of Terrasphere. Maybe it was better not to get too close to her, either?

He found himself second guessing even coming to this event at all. How many people other than him played the game? Worse, how many people here might be VRSA agents in disguise, or listening into conversations? Nervously, he settled on a booth with two streamers who were going to collaborate ( @Rael @Luthien ) and found a place to idle for a while.

Chelsea just stared.

"Ah, I'm so sorry! Are you hurt? Is everything okay?"

Dark pink eyes didn't blink. She just stared. The UI in her vision adjusted itself to refocus on the beanie-wearing stupid. She didn't blink. It was as if she forgot how to. Her mouth opened but no sound came out.

There was a USER INTERFACE in her VISION, In REAL LIFE...

She blinked.

It was STILL THERE...

Her heart hurt.

Then she saw the nervous look through her robovision which was honestly highly advanced and fit in with some of the special equipment Chelsea tried to use to break into Nexus once... a very bad idea that had been.

Wait...

She immediately reached up and pulled the glasses off, her vision returned to normal.

SIIIIGGGGHHHHHHH...

Now her look of shock and hidden panic turned to a more classic Chelsea expression.

UNAMUSED.

Her hand reached out and snatched the glasses, HER glasses from the blonde's face, and returned them to her own face. Then thrust the weird spy wear back at her before stopping and closing her fingers around them right in front of the beanie girl's nose.

"*Stare* They were the wrong glasses. These... are yours. They are pretty interesting."

Someone that wore gear like that day to day... and dressed like that... yeah this woman was a weirdo. The curse of attracting weird-crazy-stupids is transferring to real life now. Weirdos everywhere. Humanity itself was starting to feel like maybe it's just ALL weirdos.

It's not like she was a human that recently experienced a link with a corrupted AI demi-god and had her heart violated by another AI speaking in her parent's voices all while being mind and body melded into a robot zombie blood angel thing that loved eggs.

It was no big deal at all!

Main Hall → Panel Room

When someone said his name, he didn't even look at them. Sam is such a common name, all basic b-words, and by b-words that means bros, have them for a first or second name. In a space filled with a thousand nerds and geeks, a hundred of them would probably have Sam as a first or second name. Or maybe even just a nickname. Sam, Samuel, Samantha, Samothy, Samstralia... There is no name more basic than Sam. Maybe Joe but at least Joe has a burger named after it. Sloppy Joe > Sloppy Sam.

"Hm? Oh, Meera? What are YOU doing here? You're not even supposed to be in the same continent."

Sam did nothing to repel Meera (@Kamala Graham)'s tight hug. That would be tantamount to kicking a baby in the face for accidentally touching him. He's not that brutal. He knows the law, and he'd rather not get sued by an irresponsible parent who shouldn't even be taking a baby to an event with a million strangers. So many people, a bunch of them were most likely creeps.

"Huifang? Nope. Not since...the thing. I take it she's been dodging you, too? Can't believe she's also an S-rank in real-life Dynamism. At least when it comes to messaging."

Sam did that face by that kid in that anime his writer hasn't seen yet. Love x Spy? Spy x Lover? Family of Spies? Whatever. Anime is for weebs. At least that's what Sam thinks, even though he's dating a walking anime girl. Well, Song's more of a K-Pop stereotype but potato, poTAHto.

Anyway, Sam stood there for a couple of minutes more, letting his dumb joke go over Meera's head when the girl suddenly grabbed his wrist and pulled him elsewhere, dragging her to wherever the hell she wanted to go. For a smaller girl, she was surprisingly strong. That and Sam didn't want to throw her off of him. That'd be just another lawsuit.

"Whoa! Wait! Where are you taking me?! This better not be abduction, Meera! Or I hope it is. We just left Song back there and she's gonna taekwondo me if I don't have a cool excuse for dipping on her!"

But then he caught a glimpse of her, that damn Japanese engineer who bullies him in game just because he's so much cooler than her: Xu Huifang (@Ayna Nietzsche). Sam immediately connected the dots: Meera saw her, too, and was now trying to chase her like she owed her money. Heh. Kids.

When Meera seemed to have lost their giga brain goblin friend, Sam stepped up, sneering.

"She went in here. For someone who eats a ton of veggies, your eyesight is bad."

He then led her toward a door, opening it for her, before bribing the approaching guard with a hundred bucks, chump change for the conscience-less lawyer. Heaving a sigh, he followed after the smaller girl, sending Song a quick message:

Standing around wasn't really Ari's thing. Especially not when he was nervous. Too many people around had his eyes darting around the room, his resting bitch face threatening to bite anyone who crept too close, even though he'd probably just smile and politely converse. The dark-haired man couldn't have been more grateful when for the opportunity to help set the room up had arrived.

Despite the size of the room, it hadn't taken especially long for all the chairs to be set out, the microphones to be set up and the left rest to those more qualified than he. And so, when Valeria reached out for his hand, Ari's fingers interwove themselves between hers before he lifted the same arm over her head and around her shoulders.

"Never thought it'd actually lead to, well, all of this."
"Just goes to show, going out on a limb pays off sometimes,"
Ari said, "You guys'll be fine. Just enjoy yourselves, you guys deserve it."

At last! Skyler was about to get her glasses back! Her plan bore fruition, or so the blonde woman thought. As she reached out to reclaim her prize, the Nexon's hands closed.

Denied.

"...!" It wouldn't be that easy after all, huh? "Yeah! They're super duper special! They belong to my brother and he would end me if anything happened to them!" She lied. Hoping that this was enough to-

"KYAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!" Suddenly, a shrill shriek broke their focus on each other as a spectacle of behemoths: A considerably large group of the unofficial Song Fanclub, made their way from the entrance straight to the Polaristech booth. Trampling and consuming whatever stood in their way. "Out of the way!" - "Coming through!" - "SONG! SONG! SONG!" Were just a few of the battle chants they cried out to let everybody know: Either you made way in time, or you'd be consumed by the moving mass of bodies.

Of course, it just so happened that @Lady N, and partially Skyler, were in the Fanclub's path of conquest, too. Skyler's eyes grew wide for a second as she connected the dots. The safety of the glasses was at risk! Instinctively, Skyler grabbed N by her wrist and dragged her close enough into a squeeze, taking multiple steps back at the same time to move the two out of harm's way. The excited human mass stormed past them.

But the danger wasn't over.

Sighing momentary relief, Skyler spotted HIM. On the other side of the ocean of bodies that divided N's bodyguard and their position.

He looked at her.
She looked at him.
Their eyes met.
Once again, for the second time she imagined life behind bars.
No, if it was prison Skyler needed to worry about, then she would have likely already found her parents.

Of course, the blonde wasn't aware that this person was N's security. All she saw was a suspicious man being on her case. Which... only lead to paranoia. The cameras set up high on the walls? They must have clearly zoomed in on her! The ice cream seller at the main hall entrance?! Clearly, he was an undercover agent who had already screened her out! The kid crying for the very-same ice cream from that stand that had fallen to the ground?! HE WAS IN ON IT! Skyler was compromised, but not defeated.

Taking a step back, she shook her head. She'd stay calm and... her eyes locked onto N. The cogs in her mind worked at high speed. Duh. "H-Hey..." She spoke to N. "There are people on my case. Dangerous people. And you, with these glasses! Are in danger, too. But, if you trust and follow me, I can lose them. I can lose anyone." She'd make N her accomplice. Not the victim of a willing kidnapping.

All she had to do was say yes!... Please?

Midnight Dreams/Mayonaka no yume
Yamanaka Nari

Naka smiled as Jim explained an indistinct reason for being at the event, before passing it off as little more than an amateurish hobby. She found herself opening her mouth to argue with the man, before realising it wasn't her place - as well, as noting the sudden sliding away of Aisling.

Oh...uhm...it was a pleasure to meet you, Aisheelang! Do enjoy your time at the event...

She turned back to continue discussing with Jim, when she realised that the man had also slipped away - disappearing off to a far booth with a pair of ladies that Naka assumed had drawn his attention due to their...well, their appearance, if she was being honest.

Finding herself alone, she sighed. Her eyes ran over the main area, noticing a collection of individuals who she recognised; from the ever-present and well-known-to-anyone-in-the-field Chelsea Nixon, her overpowering presence almost dominating everything around her, to a popular musical inspiration that Naka almost couldn't believe was actually at an event like this. Immediately, she found herself gravitating towards the singer, her eyes lingering in a way that bespoke someone who was obviously a fan.

She hovered on the edge of the display, waiting for Dayeong to notice her, before even considering approaching. Biting her lip, she considered how best to even begin a conversation - wondering if there was a way to sneak an autograph out of the pop star without coming across too cliché. She doubted there was anyway around it, and deciding that she would simply have to go for it, she made her approach when the crowd around the pop star had thinned ever so slightly.

Kon'nichiwa Dayeon! Dai fan no Yamanaka-err...My name is Yamanaka Nari, and I'm a huge fan!

She smiled, bowing ever so slightly as she introduced herself and waited for the other to respond, unsure of what sort of interest the pop star would take. Naka had always heard good things about the woman, although she'd known not to trust everything she saw online or from others.

"SONG! SONG! SONG!"

They came like a tidal wave. A tidal wave of @Dayeon Song simps!

Now Chelsea knew what her mother meant when the Nexon was a child. About how it is literally dangerous to stand in the wrong spot at events. When an Idol is seen by too many fans... it can get lethal quickly!

Her bodyguard tried to move in but there were too many of them. A swarm like it was Kurungaar all over again! Chelsea was already in a weird spot mentally and physically these past few days. This was just more sensory overload... so much for getting away.

How did Aisling do it?

"There are people on my case. Dangerous people. And you, with these glasses! Are in danger, too. But, if you trust and follow me, I can lose them. I can lose anyone."

"...what? W-what do you..?"

Her mind went immediately to her missing father, "IT" and how Nexus or VRSA would both have no qualms with possibly "removing her" from the public eye if they ever had the chance. The girl's paranoia set in and she dropped everything.

"Where are they... who are you?! How would you lose them? I have a bodyguard. Where is he??? ...come on go!

Her hand tightened around the glasses as she tensed up. Images of VRSA agents or Nexus employees aiming sniper rifles filled her mind.

At the moment she would just follow this complete stranger... why?
Fate?
Being bestest friends/outcasts in some AU reality somewhere?
Who the hell cares?
That's why!

Where are they... who are you?! How would you lose them? I have a bodyguard. Where is he??? ...come on go!

Too many questions for Skyler's current mood. Though Chelsea did give her a go-ahead for an unintentional kidnapping. Not letting herself get told 'go' twice, Skyler suddenly dragged Chelsea along. "Don't you dare break those glasses!" She warned the girl as they ducked under confused people, squeezed through annoying families, and created a head-start with the only real threat to Skyler: N's bodyguard.

Luckily for Skyler, the girl pushed into a staircase with a green exit sign. Really, losing visual contact would only do so much. Instead, the two of them went out into the basement level's public area just to... find an elevator! Skyler had engraved the layout of the MetaWorld into her mind, so even if it seemed like she was dragging @Lady N just somewhere along the blonde had a plan.

And that plan involved an elevator. Once inside (and as fate would have it, the only two inside), Skyler breathed a sigh of relief for just a second before pressing the button for the third floor. She then dropped her backpack, unzipped it, and pulled out what seemed a bit like a barcode scanner, or metal detector. If Chelsea could hush a glance inside she'd see a bunch of weird electric devices and a laptop!

With that in hand, Skyler closed in on N once again. With all the running there hadn't really been much time to talk. Beep... beep... beep beep beep! Treating N like a criminal now, the scanner seemed to have hit something. "Of course, a rich girl like you is being tracked..." Good thing that elevators should block all kinds of signals. Skyler pressed a button, and the beeping returned to its steady rhythm. "But not anymore. Here, wear this! It'll scramble your face on any security cams." With these words, Skyler pulled out yet another pair of glasses. These once had a green frame instead of pink ones thou.

Ding

Though Skyler didn't give the Nexon much choice or time, as the elevator door opened, Chelsea was dragged along once again onto another staircase. Behind one, in fact. Where things like cleaning utensils and other stuff got stored. The sort of spot that was popular to hide in sneaking games like the Wooden Handle Broken series.

"Gaaahh...." For the second time, Skyler took some big breaths. "We- huff should be safe... for now." She gave N a not. "Although..." Before removing her jacket and turning it inside out and a stylish shirt beneath. Skyler looked less like cosplaying as a creepy kidnapper and more like just a girl N's age.

The jacket had also changed its appearance. Being of quite a different color scheme now. "We seem similarly sized. So I suggest you also take this one and maybe change up your hairstyle?"

Really a weird situation. Things like those only happened in badly written fiction, no?

Aisling looked sympathetically towards Dayeon as the wave of fans approached her. She couldn't imagine having that sort of fame, or drawing that sort of attention. It was bad enough when Ash had people interested in him.

There was nothing she could do about that. Right now she just wanted to get some fresh air and pollute it immediately. She wove through the crowd, looking for the exit, when she heard a familiar raised voice somewhere within the din. Aisling looked around and... was that her boss? She was surprised to see her out at such a public event after everything.

More surprising to see her without a guard, and instead with someone dressed like a shut-in. They were shouting about something, and then she was off, dragging a confused and frightened looking Chelsea towards the elevators.

...not her business. Chelsea probably had all kinds of security on and around her. But she had to go towards the elevators anyway if she wanted to get outside, and it wasn't like it was hard to track someone making such a commotion as they bull-rushed through the crowd. Unfortunately, her definitely-not-a-chase ended at the elevators, as the two somehow managed to find the one elevator that didn't have any people in it.

Aisling watched the doors shut, considered her choices, and decided it wasn't worth pushing her luck. Hopefully Chelsea remembered she had a cellphone.

Chandana had arrived late. She was stuck in traffic. Well, she was, but then she also took her sweet time arguing with the other drivers, private citizens AND cab drivers just because she could. Talk about road rage. Luckily for her, she managed to get out of that scene without getting the cops involved. Truly a miracle of the year!

She was still fuming, though, when she finally got herself inside the event. Technology had never been her strong suit. She even needed help just to get herself in Terrasphere, without which she probably would never have met the love of her life. But that was another story to tell.

"Whoa! You all right? What's her problem?"

Chandana was ready to fight Huifang. Right then and there. In the middle of everyone else. If the snobbish piece of s-word hadn't run away, though, Chandana would've probably dropped her. Easily. Ain't no way anyone does that to Colleen Baozhai and gets away scot-free. They would've at least caught those hands, and those hands took Chandana to the national fighting championships. Before she had to semi-retire, that is.

Instead, those hands carefully held Baozhai, fiery eyes looking over the mess that was made, the mess all over the latter's top, the latter's top that was, ahem, looking pretty good from Chandana's side of the fence. Ayooo!

"Want me to go after her and beat her ass?"

That last part, she omitted from her words and from her mind. If Baozhai wanted her to, she would. She would definitely decimate Huifang. Just like that. But Bao probably didn't want that. It would have been too public even for her, too much of a hassle in the end.

Hm? Baozhai was quite surprised when she heard Chandana's voice. She hadn't expected her to be there for a couple more minutes. At least not before she could text her. Maybe the signal's getting delayed or something. There are a lot of people here, after all. That surprise immediately turned to elation, though, as the tea shop owner definitely missed her partner-in-crime.

"Chandana! You're here! Finally! I've missed you!" She gave her a tight hug, or at least was going to, before she recalled she was dripping wet. "Hm? Oh, it's nothing! Just your typical..."crowded area" accident. Teehee! Don't worry about it!"

Baozhai immediately worked to defuse Chandana's temper, knowing full well that while she was the teddiest of grizzlies around, she would never hesitate to knock unconscious someone who disrespects those closest to her. While she and Huifang go way back, which was why they could treat each other in a way outsiders would consider disrespectful, the same cannot be said for Huifang and Chandana, who were both prone to yelling and screaming at others. It's so weird how I keep attracting loudmouths like these two...

"What would you like to do? Aside from... You know."

She gave her a sly wink, teasing the former prizefighter. While Baozhai was more cunning, Chandana tended to show her cards without a care in the world. Then again, she could fight for herself, defend her own honor. Baozhai was less physically formidable than her, and maybe that's why the latter couldn't be so transparent as Chandana. That and the skeletons...

"There has to be something in this huge place to have piqued my beloved's interest, hm?"

Pandora
MetaWorlds 2034[ (?)

So now the easily annoyed tsun found herself in an elevator. The drop sudden vanishing of crowds and screaming fanboys was a welcome change. Her heart rate didn't drop by much though. She had always wanted to come face to face with the unseen enemy she wanted to create. The people behind all her problems...

Now they might actually be revealing themselves.

Beep... beep... beep beep beep!

...
...
Wait a minute...

"Of course, a rich girl like you is being tracked..."

The beanie-wearing weirdo went on and... scanned her? Then more things happened (did she just disable her tracker?) and it all was just starting to become a blur of stupid. This girl was a tornado and Chelsea's momentary chance to catch up on what was happening ended again as the elevator doors opened.

How is she packing all of these things on her and still moving so fast?

"We- huff should be safe... for now."

Then came a shirt that had once been a jacket in Chelsea's direction. She didn't reach for it. Her arms were folded and her mouth was tightly shut. Her heaving shoulders and the breathing through her nose still betrayed her. Showing her own lack of exercise. Somewhere, subconsciously a part of her was still remembering the magia steroid-like effect in game, making all of this feel even more overwhelming for her fragility.

Nothing would stop her from "Chelsing" though. She had yet another set of glasses on her face. All this whose glasses were whose nonsense was becoming like some long-forgotten joke at this point.

*Stare*

She would have torn the glasses off seeing how she only used glasses for work and reading anyway. Still, it was better to be safe than sorry. Just in case.

Silence. It seemed they were alone except for inanimate objects. Thankfully these wouldn't come to life and start singing or otherwise attacking them. This all could have been so much stranger if Chelsea had this happen to her before the new year. Now, it had gone from annoying to dangerous to worrying and now back to annoying again.

"I'm not putting that on. ...I'm starting to wonder if you are just a kidnapper?! Or are you working for them?!"

The thought hit her like a truck. Of course! This girl was involved with "IT"! She was sent to kidnap Chelsea and get VRS shut down or demand the remnants of Chelsea's inheritance! She already lost Nexus, she wouldn't let this stupid rob her blind and hold her at gunpoint! The sound of police officers and swat teams storming MetaWorlds before Chelsea is downed to the firing of a mad womans gun. Just before said beanie-wearing nutcase falls to her death and lands in the middle of the Dayeon fans all filled her ears.

Too much drama that she would rather avoid.
Chelsea's tracker wouldn't be useful now so instead, she had a secret weapon.
Common sense!

The cell phone!

She placed her finger on the app she had to alert her security... no, that would just bring attention the Nexon would rather not have. Instead, she would just text her bodyguard directly. Chelsea spoke cooly as she started to text.

"I don't know what's going on, but this will be resolved. You better be able to explain yourself."

She looked up at the girl. She looked sincere in her own madness. Hmph, most stupids were.

"... I won't press send and have you arrested if you would kindly explain to me what is going on here? Who are you and why are we here?"

Her eyelids lowered slightly.

"Right now."

Dayeon Song

As it turns out, hiring an idol to promote your newest release wasn't a good idea after all. Since all the crowd that was rushing towards her was not here for any of the groundbreaking AR techs, but rather to go and see the idol herself.

"Out of the way!"
"Coming through!"
"SONG! SONG! SONG!"

The number of fans pushing everyone else away would've made Szofrit's magia troop pale in comparison. Not wanting the songsters to interrupt the product reveal event, she excused herself to the side to greet her fans.

"Hey everyone. Too bad I'm not here for a performance, so keep that enthusiasm for the next time, ok?" Dayeon made the 'fighting' motion with her right fist as she tried to calm the crowd.

"When is the next comeback?"
"We're always going to support you!"
"Have you found another company?"

With more and more questions (and mostly shouting) coming, Dayeon kept apologizing while bowing to the fans while giving the 'no comment for now'.

After several minutes, the crowd began to disperse (with the help of security and the sudden fansigning she gave out). One girl in particular stood out and introduced herself... in Japanese. She quickly corrected herself, however. Chuckling, Dayeon replied to her while bowing thirty degrees.

"Ah, Konnichiwa, Yamanaka-san. Itsumo sapōto shite itadaki kansha shimasu!"

Her slip up hadn't cost her as much backlash as Naka had expected - in fact, entirely to the opposite ends of her expectations, the idol had instead responded in her own language. Naka found herself brightening visible in response, standing straight once more as the smile spread across her face.

It is a pleasure...I aspire to be as talented as you, one day. If I am ever so lucky to display such a talent, against the otherwise array of stars that expand into this world.

She seemed to pause at that thought, her smile twitching ever so slightly as she tried not to laugh at the irony. In TerraSphere she controlled the stars, but in the real world all she did was chase them. Not that she would realistically classify what she did as chasing - it lacked a certain amount of running, of all things.

You must be busy, and desiring some time away from...all of this.

She waved a hand towards the groups of people who had - for the moment - been pushed back away from the idol; their over zealous actions and behaviours causing them to miss out on something more. Giving another short bow, Naka finished her train of thought.

Mōichido arigatō, for this moment. Should you ever need some time away from it all, I would love to take you to lunch, in appreciation for all you have done.

She straightened once more before giving a final goodbye, and slowly backing away - her legs visibly shaking as she tried to force herself from the presence of the star. She'd managed to handle the few moments so far, but Naka knew that any longer in the presence of an idol, and she may finally crack that shell that she had so carefully surrounded herself with.

Panel Room

Huifang heaved a sigh of relief as she slinked into the very same panel room that she was meant to join that day. Her company had insisted she partakes in the presentation of an up-and-coming hardware launch, a supposedly game-changing technology, which she believed was just a simple but never-before-seen creative take on an already existing virtual reality system. Never-before-seen because no one would be dumb enough to waste their time on the simplistic aspect of wasting VR on writing up taxes and stuff.

As she took one of the seats, she shook her head, her arms crossed, clearly not into the idea of wasting her time and energy on these things. At the very least, however, she's found sanctuary from her friends. Huifang frowned as memories of that event filled her head. It all felt so real, so vivid, the helplessness, her lack of control, the machine mother forcing her to do those unspeakable things... Game or not, it felt too disturbing to play again. What are they even doing here?!

Huifang hoped that they were just hallucinations but she knew deep down they were really there. She had a keen mind and wasn't prone to such things. She could justify Sam's presence, considering her was a big-shot lawyer, which means he was here for a client or maybe he was even representing the facilitators of the event. Meera, she wasn't sure how or why she was there. Was she stalking her? Huifang had been avoiding her messages. Maybe she has had enough and took it upon herself to confront her. She's not psycho...right?

From the corner of her eyes, as the presentation was now well underway, Huifang caught sight of the pair sneaking in to join the panel. Her eyes widened in horror. She attempted to move, run, and walk away, but she was trapped. Both sides of her already had guests sitting on their seats. Departing right then and there would have made more of a ruckus than she'd have liked. Besides, the host was already spilling his spiels. Huifang could do nothing else but looked away from them and pretend they were ghosts.

Main Hall → Panel Room

Once he was inside the panel room with Meera, Sam quickly looked around for any sign of Huifang. Whatever was going on with these two girls, he didn't want to spend more time caught between them, trapped in the middle of their thing. It took him some time, mostly because they had darkened the lights, but he managed to catch sight of that long hair and Asian face. He couldn't remember whether Huifang was Chinese or Japanese, maybe even both, since her name sounded Chinese but she did visit him a while back from Japan, so... Tricksy hobbits, eh?

Without saying a word, he poked Meera's shoulder and pointed in Huifang's direction before leading her there. There were dudes already sitting beside their engineer friend, so Sam had to take out another hundred bucks to bribe the dudes to get the hell out of there and surrender their seats to them. It was an easy negotiation, though not as easy for Sam's wallet. Ah, the things he does for love, eh? Wonder how much more money he'll lose in this stupid thread (oops, fourth wall! hehe...) convention? Old man dies inside.

Heaving a sigh, he checked his phone when it vibrated in his pocket, noticing a short message reply from Song:
