Finweald - Astorean Capitol

Out from the desolate wastes of Vintergard, a low-pitched distress signal called out, perceptible only to a certain kind of machine (and perhaps a few choice animals). It traveled across the land, ignored by most of the less-sentient machines, until it reached one of the ‘player’ variety…

No, I‘m not a horse, and I’m not a robot. Just take the money and give me the animal feed already. Who eats it is none of your business.

"Alright, alright, sheesh!" A curious and rather confused-looking farmer shrugged, handing Tris a bag of plain looking oats. "You robot people are just plain weird…"

Rolling her eyes, Tris took a seat on a bench and began to munch away at the oats until the hunger satisfaction meter filled up to the top. Blech. Eating was so joyless like this!

Stashing the rest away in her inventory, she was about to check out the questing board, then she heard a signal coming from a far distance. A low droning sound, but still vaguely recognizable: "Help." No one else paid it any mind. Could they even hear it…? Probably not. It was beyond anything a human could hear.

A slightly worried look crossed her face as she turned toward the source of the sound. Was it another magia then? Broken? Injured? Lost energy? Unable to ignore the call, Tris set off for the source of the noise…

Tris had at least vaguely understood the call was coming from a distance, but maybe not that much of a distance. It’d taken forever to finally arrived at the scrapheap known as Vintergard. The husk of the rumored airship appeared like a mountain in the background, and Tris even noticed numerous magitech scouts flying around.

Maybe all the robots would think she was one of their own unless provoked? She could only hope so.

With a bold recklessness and a firm intention to help whatever magia was sending her this signal, Tris delved in, trying her best to avoid those metal floating things…

Being a self-proclaimed Fate's Chosen was really a sort of hate-love relationship. On one hand, there was this handy little plot device of being in the right place at the right time, visibly by a literal thread of fate. On the other hand, Seigi wasn't the time of gal to believe in their Fate being set, or that there was a higher power at work.

She'd kick Fate in the butt, be a master of her own life, break free of the vicious cycle, yadda yadda. Through her own strength, rather than some pawn on a potential grand board for entertainment or to wage a war.

Still, her maybe-delusions aside, Seigi Ling Ling couldn't deny how handy this seemingly randomly trait often turned out to be. Most of the time it was simply about saving people as if that was what she was meant to do. Other times... well, it did not matter. As in this particular case, this whole situation was about saving people, too.

As Tristaria turned some corners and walked past debris and hubris, getting closer and closer to the signal, she suddenly found a round piece of metal flying past her in a rather unwillingly fashion, lots of dents too, crashing into a piece of barely standing wall.

"How about you take on someone your own size!? Or better yet: Go back to the junkyard you came from!?" The hoodie-wearing girl — that was standing between the two-and-a-very-beat-up drone and out-of-juice Magia — shouted.

She had already taken quite some damage, yet, considering the positions and how they each faced off against the other it was clear what was at odds here.

Tristaria hadn't been the only one who seemingly listened to the Magia's call for help. The weirdo modern-cloth-wearing girl was also defending her. But unlike Tristaria's sneak approach, was engaged in combat...

For now, none of the five participants seemed to have noticed Tristaria.

Tris quickly darted between walls and other large objects she could hide behind. A tree. A well. A broken down home. Yet, as she turned around the corner to once again push on forward, she leapt back, narrowly avoiding the cannonball of a former drone that shot past.

What the…?

Tris hesitantly stepped out into the open again to follow the source of the voice. At first, she thought the girl in the hoodie was the one sending the distress signal: after all, she was surrounded by three two flying sentries. But then Tris caught sight of the little magia girl behind her.

So that was what was going on…

"Oh, someone answered…!" The magia girl answered in delight shortly after the hoodied hero arrived. "Careful, there’s still more of them! Oh…!?"

She paused to glanced over as Tris stepped forward, thrusting her hand out toward the strange hero. Several, blue summoning circles spawned nearby, out of which flew a small army of magitech drones (distinguished from the enemy ones by their white color), and finally, a helicopter magia!

Help the punchy girl with the jacket.

Aye aye, Summoner Tristaria~!

…What are we, pirates now…?

Hovering up to the top of a nearby building, Una began commanding the drones to attend to the hero, attaching motors, servos, and other augments to her arms and legs. Within seconds, she was suddenly wearing a light magitech powersuit on top of her armor.

Tris quickly ran up to join her, taking a nasty zap on the head from one of the sentries as she passed.

I guess it’s good you got here before me… otherwise this girl might’ve been done for.

Suddenly, Seigi found herself assaulted by more Magitek junk! Just that this one wasn't so much junk but rather, small and bigger robits that assembled some sort of light power suit around her.

Quite nostalgic, in some ways. Although it barely seemed to hold together.

"Reinforcements!" She called out. Though considering she had never seen this person before and the location they were in, it was likely a new player. Meaning Seigi immediately changed her posture to be more protective.

As another drone went to give Tristaria another zap, a well-aimed kick re-directed a large portion of the shock up into Seigi's leg instead, strong enough for her to actually wince on the counter-attack and kick weaker than she intended.

"You two are the ranged type?" She asked. "Alright, I'll cover you."

Beep Beep Boop

The triplet of drones, having taken considerable damage, regrouped to face off once more.

"Alternatively, we might be able to finish them with one big all-out attack. I'm Seigi, by the way... arr!"
Of course, there was at least enough time to do some very basic introduction.

Tris nodded her thanks as the hoodie girl kicked away another magitech ball.

Of course, attacking at a distance is always the best strategy.

Wishing to show the best of what she had to offer, Tris raised her hand into the air, two fingers out like a miniature gun. It sparked blue, like a freshly hit lightning rod, until she lowered it down towards one of the scouts...

"Woah...!" The little magia girl exclaimed, sparkles in her eyes, as the bigger magia demonstrated this awesome display of power.

...right before she tripped on a rock.

The bolt fizzled off and struck the side of a broken down house, barely leaving a scorch mark.

"..."

Good try, Summoner Tristaria~!

Oh shut up, you.

Figuring this whole "Dealing damage" thing wasn't working out so well, Tris backed away further toward the magia girl.

New plan: you punch, I heal.

Seigi couldn't help but chuckle a bit at @Tristaria's display of skill, or the lack thereof. "Sounds like a good plan. Though if you wanna give it another try you s-" Less talking, more fighting! Before Seigi could finish whatever she wanted to say, the triple drones attacked once again. "H-Hey!" Side-stepping a ranged laser from one, she made a forward motion as the other two drones rushed into melee combat!

Planning to counter one, the martial-arts girl was planning to use her open palm to change the trajectory of one of the drones before attacking the last. Alas, just like Tristaria, Seigi too screwed up! Instead of hitting the bladed sentry's side, it pierced her palm... which didn't stop Seigi from clenching her fist and pulling closer, punching the drone hard enough with her free hand to dislocate the weapon-holding compartment and send it flying against another part of airship debris.

"I... really shouldn't give any lessons, huh." She seemed unaffected by the pain at least. Much to her dismay or lack of attention, however, the third drone flew past Seigi to give Tristaria a good smacking!

"Shut up and get healed," Tris insisted, thrusting a hand out and ordering her drones forward to patch up wounds, applying metal armor where once was only open flesh. Meanwhile, one slipped behind her, delivering a nasty smack to the head.

"Oww! Ya know, things might’ve been fine without you barging in!" she took the opportunity to complain. "Maybe they just don’t like humans! Well… obviously they don’t like humans, but I’m just saying, magia might be okay with them!"

Ooowch! Summoner Tristaria, they don’t feel very magia-friendly!

"Quit complaining and fight!" Tris commanded, not seeing the hypocrisy in the slightest. "These little pests are really starting to annoy me!!" As if on cue, one of the remaining sentries snuck up behind her and delivered a nasty shock. "Gah! So help me, I will RIP YOU APART with my BARE HANDS you rusted orb!!"

-40 from drones
+34 from Tristaria

"I can assure you they're not very magia friendly!" Seigi retorted as she sidestepped another drone charge, raising her leg high and- "HIIYYYAAAA!!!!" Smashing one of them into tiny little bits and pieces.

"T-Thank you." A bit perplexed at how Tristaria was patching Seigi up. Was she becoming Magia, too? "But it's time to finish this!" Just like the white-haired weirdo, Seigi too was annoyed at the drones as she leaped forward (or technically backward, as her next destination was close to Tristaria). "Time to return to the Junkyard!" There was no finesse in this attack, but simple brute force as her enhanced mechanical arms grabbed the piece of junk and tore it in two.

Beep Boop Beep.

Initiate Self Destruct.

"Wah-" The last drone rushed towards Tristaria and Seigi. "Watch out!" She called out, rushing forward to cover the two and, thanks to their metal plating, receiving non-lethal damage.

Battered, bloody, and beaten. The fight now seemed over. Though the pain wasn't anything new for the brunette. And despite her own, beat-up state, she now asked.

"Are you alright? Thanks for your help, we s- urgh..." Well, maybe she underestimated the damage a little bit. In fact, maybe barely holding on? But then again, one was either alive or dead. No in-between. "Urgh..." For once, Seigi fell to her knees as the exhaustion of the battle hit her. Her arms had lost all bandaging and were instead now a mix of metal and darkness, and her mind felt like she had the worst hangover, ever.

"S-Shut up... ah, I don't mean you."

Some things had.... clearly gone wrong here.

"I hadn’t noticed," Tristaria sarcasm’d as she beat down one scout and the second… oh crap! Tris covered the small Magia girl and the loud hero covered the both: a chain of defense that… ultimately fell almost completely on the human. Nice.

Tris breathed a little easier with the death orbs gone. Those things were just brutal, and had no respect for their machine kinship. Sheesh.

"Fine," Tris answered briskly, turning to the magia girl and asking the same question.

"Oh… I’m okay, nyon! You’re both amazing, nyon!" Her eyes filled with sparkles as she glanced at the lady hero who seemed to be losing it.

"Hm… sure, she’s not bad I guess…"

Confused magia noises…

"Speaking of, I guess I should fix her. Talking to yourself is usually a bad sign…" Tris sighed, absentmindedly waving her drones forward to swarm Seigi and patch her up: healing beams, bandages, and all that.

Whew. Thanks so much for your help, miss! I don’t know what we would’ve done without you!

"We would’ve been fine, Una," Tris shrugged. "But, you were useful, so… thanks, I guess." Bending down to look over the thoroughly smashed magitech scouts, she groaned, picking it apart and collecting a few small pieces. "Could’ve been more gentle though. There’s barely anything left I can use."

Summoner Tristaria…

"What…?"

Is there a reason you’re acting so cold to miss hero?

"What? This is just my normal face…"

…?

"Okay, fine. It’s that sort of ‘reckless hero’ attitude that gets people killed." She violently tore a power core out of the scout to emphasize the last word. "You and others."

Now the confused magia noises came from two

As Seigi was healed yet an Nth time, she partially regained her vitality and the ability to continue living and listening to the exchange. Making sure the Nyon-Magia was alright, Seigi frowned just ever so slightly. Unlike a particular, other, Tsundere, Tristaria was different. It... stung, just a little bit? Though thankfully Seigi didn't have to dig any deeper as her rebellious summon kept nagging and digging until Tristaria let the cat out of the bag.

"...!" There it was. Not the first time Seigi had heard that. "I'll have you know I am still very much alive, thank you very much!" Just a little bit of sass, no? "It got nothing to do with recklessness..." Maybe. "...to save others, you have to be willing to put your own life on the line. Simple as that. But, you're right. I don't need your thanks. I didn't do this so anyone would thank me." Really, by now, Seigi's tolerance of these Tsundere-type characters seemed to shrink with every encounter!

Though Seigi did not stop there.

"You're not UI locked, yes?" Otherwise, chances were she had already known her. "So aren't you the reckless one for playing?"
