Tyrant Tower

Return of the Tyrant Witch

Mages of various sorts have been experiencing severe exhaustion as of late. It is said that someone or something has been sapping all of the mana from anyone unfortunate enough to venture too close to a lone tower that suddenly appeared one day at the Edge of Tomorrow. Those who experience this sapping lose all of their magical abilities and have yet to recover from the experience even weeks later. Their memory of how it had occurred was completely wiped. The tower is dangerously close to the Silvergate Bridge. This has made it concerning since more Starcalled are entering the once-lost land of Tertoria.

No faction in Astorea has made a request to deal with this but if you are venturing along the edge of Tertoria and the Calamity Deep perhaps you may find an answer for yourself and deal with it...

Difficulty: Intermediate (Death Enabled)
Content: Side Story, Dungeon, Mechanics
Party Size: 5
Area: Edge of Tomorrow
Faction: VXIII (Opposing)
NPC: None (NPC Slot Available)

Giant Godshroom

The Last God Spore

It is said that within the Tangleweaves lies a shroom that could someday rival even Yladian's cherished Alfather Tree itself... the Giant Godshroom of Isulus. With Red Fever finally subdued and terrifying monsters like the Mega Slimodiles pushed back into their bogs. This great fungus can once again be reached by the Starcalled. Up until now, it has been only explored by its natural inhabitants, the Myconids. It is said a great Myconid Monarch lives somewhere within.

An anonymous client hailing from Falderen has made a request to the Adventurers Guild, for the God Spore which is said to be food for the residing Monarch. You are tasked with getting one of these spores and bringing it to your client at an arranged location. A member of the Explorers League will accompany you on this mission.

Difficulty: Intermediate (Death Enabled)
Content: Side Story, Dungeon, Mechanics, Grid
Party Size: 5
Area: Isulus
Faction: Adventurers Guild (Allied), Explorers League (Allied), VXIII (Opposing)
NPC: NEW NPC Alert!

Do you have what it takes to stand on top of all the sleeping bodies of a bunch of other passed-out drunkards?

Unfolding the Unknown
WELCOMING SUNSHINE

Two curious figures appear in Finweald, a large red-haired caenis man, and a a little caenis girl. Those that are knowledgeable can quickly notice they are Sun Claws, and those that aren't but are curious and social enough, are quickly told so by the (way too happy) red-haired man. The little girl is a bit timid, but at some point she voices her desire:

She wants to visit the Astorea capital! The man is no different, though he is more there for her than for himself... But since he is already there, why not enjoy some time as well?

Despite all the eagerness, the two of them seem a bit confused with the customs, and directions, and have no idea where to even start their small visit. Pehaps you are willing to be a nice host and show them around? Or a tourist guide instinct suddenly flourish inside your heart? Regardless, you decide to make them have a nice time, and maybe you can even have some fun yourself!

OOC Information
  • Ideally 4 participants, that can be parted into two duos, or can stay together through all Challenge.
  • Genre: Slice of Life, Light-hearted Encounter.
  • Setting: Easy Difficulty, Gridless, Semi-Freeform.
  • Items and Skills acquired from Tarkya's challenges are going to be accepted in this challenge, but they will only have Semi-Freeform value. (Additional effects may be applied in the Cycles).
  • Chanlye's Homebrew will not be used, you may use items, tags, titles and etc as you wish for Semi-Freeform value. (Additional effects may be applied in the Cycles).

TLDR: (and WIP)
Glamdark Minigame thread.
Roll Expertises.
Buy Upgrades.
Hope you picked the right ones.
Because everything is random.

Launch Date: Sometime this month. Friday the 12th at the earliest.

Number of Players: At least 1. No upper limit

Welcome to Bottle Excursion

Bottle Excursion is a free-forum (0v<)* expertise-based mini-game.

What you will do is aid Glamora Dark (Glamdark) in training her bottles in various expertises in order to meet random challenges.

The goal is to train the bottles to meet the required skill challenges before time runs out.

Skill challenges will come in two forms:
-Big Day: These challenges are big benchmarks and the main goal.
-Events: These are little events and intermissions that can affect the overall training processes.

The overall theme of the game is spending personal resources to upgrade the team’s efforts.

***

Overview of Gameplay:

  1. Players will roll expertises, upgrade roll categories, and briefly describe their actions.
  2. Glamdark will describe outcomes, announce new challenges, and help guide the story.
  3. Victory isn’t possible. This is a survival game. Last as long as you can.
  4. There is no risk, stakes, or site-canon associated with this thread. This isn’t a DM thread.
  5. Most RP will likely happen over a chatty coms thread.

***

Mechanics Overview:
-Upgrade bottle expertises to prepare for foreseen and unforeseen expertise checks!
-This is a team survival game based on having the team last as long as possible!
-Balance isn’t really a concern, improvements will be made in the future and as we go.
-The goal is for there to be no bad choices.
-The goal is also to make this game repeatable!

Bottle Team Energy:
-The bottles have an overall energy rating that allows them to meet challenges.
-This is the team’s overall HP. If it is reduced to zero, 1 stock is lost.
-There are 3 stocks (continues), that allow the team to carry over to the next round.
-Team energy is gained or reduced based on (Challenge Score Roll - Bottle Expertise).

Player SP:
-Each player starts with 400 SP (Sanity Points), it is both a resource and functions as Player HP.
-Reaching low values can trigger status effects. These are called San-Delusions.
-SP regenerates with every Round Report. Events can also affect values.

Sheet Creation:
-There will be a template sheet to track player stats, upgrades, and san-delusions.
-When players make their sheet they will start with 400SP.
-The recommended strategy is to choose upgrades and leave some room for flexibility, 100SP or so.

Player Action Flow:
-Read the Round Report or Intermission from Glamdark.
-Decide if and where to spend SP.
-Roll as each option instructs you.

***

Player Options: Each round or intermission, players may…
1)
Train the Bottles in a Expertise: (10SP per 1d10)

-Players can spend 10SP to roll one 1d10 for the chosen expertise category.
-Players can buy as many dice as their SP allows.
-On a 10-roll, the dice explodes.
-On a 1-roll, delete the highest expertise roll made.

2)
Specialize in an expertise: (50SP)

Challenge, Knowledge, and Impact Types:
-Choose an expertise and Roll 1d5.
-Permanently gain the result’s amount of bonus rolls when training bottles in this expertise.
-This can stack infinitely.

Ability Types:
-The player permanently lowers the cost of them using an expertise’s bottle ability by 10.

3)
Submit a Proposal to Glamdark: (100SP)

A: Bottle Design:
Design a new category of specialized bottle.

-Choose an expertise: A new sub-bar will be created for it.
-Roll 1d200, this will determine the new design’s starting expertise level.
-Roll 1d3, this will determine the number of defects the new model has.
-Specialized bottles double the results of training for their unique bar.
-There can only be one specialized bottle in each expertise category.

B: Management Request:
Glamdark naturally and randomly comes up with management decisions each cycle and most of them are not very good. You may guide Glamdark towards certain challenges:

-Choose 2 challenge categories to appear in the next round.

C: Glam decides:
-Glamdark will create or upgrade three random bottles.

4)
Special Bottle Actions:

-Some bottles will create new abilities to be utilized.
-This will be updated as the story proceeds.

I'm bored!

So I'm making an interest check (thankfully not with TS having a doomed future like last time). This time it isn't for challenges or full events but rather scattered smaller threads along the lines of those who seek the future. However, it is a difficult time so I'm checking how many folks will be willing to post with a good regularity (at least once every other day). It may or may not go the route of Asch's dance-off and edgerunner fanfic interest checks...

This is just a "are you feeling enough muse" if it were to happen? I will release LFGs (yes multiple) if I get enough responses.

Is this basically rp with Pan through NPCs? Yes!

Ripplethorpe. A small town alongside one of the many Riona Rivers in Solvale. It was a fortunate place not to take much if any damage from the magia menace. It has also been graced with improved economic growth as merchants enjoyed spending time at the friendly inn and well-knowledgeable shopkeep. The Mayor was a renowned asshole, however, but this hadn't kept the place from having an inviting feel.

Maximilian Faulkner and Hylia from Tertoria are passing through here.

Bridia, City of Winds.

Falderen has, for the most part, kept itself out of the chaos surrounding Astorea and has yet to come around to any form of diplomacy to address that. This doesn't change that many places in Falderen are quite peaceful, perhaps more so with less Starcalled willing to venture around at the risk of bullying.

One night, a shenanigan was afoot. Luckily a reckless Lion was visiting....

If you register in this LFG. You too are visiting tonight.

Unfolding the Unknown
THE LABYRINTH SIMULACRUM

An eerie entrance to a mysterious Labyrinth in Eastern Brisshal has been studied for months. Attempts to uncover it have been unsuccessful, and it has only teased the hunger for knowledge even more.

With this obstacle at hand, a very intelligent duo of magitechnicians, an elf and a faerin, decided to unite their strengths to use magitech constructs to explore the depths of the labyrinth, study it, and recreate a simulacrum of this labyrinth in a Pocket Plane found by the faerin, translating the elf's Dreamsharing capabilities into a magitech machine that allows brave adventurers to experience the labyrinth in an hypothetical collective dream.

Truly, a VR Game inside of a VR Game!

This experiments raises the hopes of the duo of magitechnicians to collect combat data enough, to uncover the true nature of the labyrinth, and to gain experience to strategize better approaches to the real deal.

OOC Information

This Playtesting DM Challenge will work differently from the usual. It won't have a main thread, instead, every time people enough join, I will create an encounter inside of the Labyrinth for the group to face. In the thread, the group may only create sheets based on the 'rank' applied to it.

Post in this thread with the Masteries and Level you intend to test. You aren't obligated to follow exactly what you post in here, and the level you choose won't necessarily will be the one tested in your encounter, but it will help me to make the matchmaking (unless there isn't enough people for that, in this case, everyone signed will be tossed into an Encounter together!)

The Encounters are going to be straightforward, and will most likely take between 3 to 5 Cycles to complete, each. You don't need to toss long posts, small posts are going to work better for this, but I won't prohibit you from it either. If you want to just post mechanics, that's also fine.

Baby steps though. For now, only Rookie and Intermediate are open...

Level 'Surface' (Rookie)
  • 2x Rank E Masteries
  • 1x Rank D Masteries
Level 'Peek-A-Boo' (Intermediate)
  • 2x Rank D Mastery
  • 1x Rank C Masteries
  • 1x Rank B Masteries
Level 'Diver' (Veteran) - ONGOING
  • 1x Rank C Mastery
  • 2x Rank B Masteries
  • 2x Rank A Masteries
  • 1x Rank S Mastery
Level 'Staring at the Abyss' (Ultimate) - STARTING WHEN VETERAN IS DONE
  • 1x Rank B Mastery
  • 3x Rank A Masteries
  • 2x Rank S Masteries

All Armor, Weapons and Accessories at Rank S

If there are enough people, we skip to (Omega) instead:

  • "Megathread" simulation (if we have enough people, otherwise it is normal)
  • Everyone may have one 'Ultimate' character.
  • If anyone desire, they may have a second 'Intermediate' or lower character.

SETTINGS
  • No Player limit. An indefinite amount of players may join. Depending on the amount of playtesters interested, I will divide in groups, and maybe make things quick by having each group tackling one of the Levels.
  • Genre. Playtest
  • Difficulty. Varied Difficult. Consider 'Moderate' to each level. Death Disabled.
  • Pacing. Fast to Average; Fast to Average; Fast to Average... (One week will have two updates, one week will have one update, and so go on...)
  • NO HOMEBREWS OR DM ITEMS APPLIED
  • UNLESS SPECIFIED, Creative Action is Disabled. We will play as they say...
"...Rules as written" [...] "Rules as intended... We will find out with the playtesting."

A few quick and roughly built combat challenges to test 3.05 at various tiers. Don't expect much seriousness. This is all Rules as Written with no homebrew or errata. If something seems broken or weird, we leave it for the remainder of the challenge to be submitted later as feedback.

ICP has brought the next Gathering of the Juggalos to TS. Can you stop the insanity before it spreads?

OOC

Type: Combat
Battlemap: No
Difficulty: Scaling
Death: Disabled
Canonicity: Nah
Seriousness: Nah

I am planning a playtest for a mass boss event. The boss itself will be incredibly silly, but the testing will be serious testing. I want as many people to join as feel comfortable with a 2-3 day posting pace, as that is how often boss cycles will run. This will be a Megathread event. We will be testing two major factors:
  1. Heavy hitting boss attacks and tank and healer abilities.
  2. Mass debuff mechanics meant to disorganize parties and players.
I will be scaling the boss to however many people join. This is all Rules as Written with no homebrew or errata. If something seems broken or weird, we leave it for the remainder of the challenge to be submitted later as feedback.

All players can scale their character to whatever they wish, whether that be max power or full rookie status. Test however your heart desires!

This is not meant to throw shade at anyone who likes ICP. We're just having some fun. <3

If players wish to delay this until after Chan and Tark's playtest events, please by all means let me know and I will wait until more players are available or willing to join. I want as many people as possible for a mass stress test on the system. Thank you everyone!

Konnichiwa! Merhaba! Anyoung haseyo!

Trinity your Mascot Girl here to give you updates on some adventures to partake in kay?!

The Trinity Center Arena is a place only accessible to the Starcalled, and only when Trinity unlocks the various barrier doors along the restrictive halls of Trinity Center. In this place one can face Trinity, however, it is also an advanced simulator. Here, Trinity can pull data based on all of Terrasphere to create special monsters, unlike the ones you know. These battles are for the 'Favored Best Players' that Trinity adores to watch so much. True gamers that she shall cheer on to watch with her picture-perfect smile.

Those who pass these battles with high scores will receive the Tri-Emblem. An object that qualifies the Starcalled to fight Trinity in increasingly advanced challenges.

These battles will be rerun whenever I choose until a Tri-Emblem is acquired from it. Once a total of three are gained, the Trinity Challenge will unlock and the cycle repeats with leftover Trials returning, and old ones archived.

Come and game harder Starcalled.

Tri-Emblems:

Each Trial has a bit of preparation information. If you are the type of player who does not adjust their abilities outside of their character ((like me), this can help you out. It is only a rough glance though! Just because it isn't listed doesn't mean it isn't present, it simply is less so than when it is...

"Hey, you. You with the smug starcalled face. I've seen it in your eyes. You think you're better than me. You think you could be the boss. Well you know what? I think it's time you learned what it is we big shots go through just so you can feel a little better about yourselves at night..."

This is what you heard as you were about to log off one day. Or if you can't log off, when you were about to go to sleep. Hearing it was all it took ,with the rattling of ghastly ghostly chains you were pulled into...

The King Thordan Simulator

You have awoken as King Thordan, as waves upon waves of "players" storm your throne room one after the other.

Slay the endless players with the power of dice.

The goal of this game is to slay the highest number of players before falling to their plot armor.

Become a legend the likes of that one spider lady from season 1 and live on in potential infamy.

And scene.

*plu slides some things across the table*

+1 Cardboard Crown.
+1 Fake beard.
+1 Sword of Plot Implications.
+1 Weird Shadow Guy.

Rules:

-Roll Sword of Plot Implications to Attack. (7d10)
-View the enemy party’s series of rolls for the round. (5d10)
-Compare each die roll 1-1.
-If your slotted number is the same or higher, you win against that player. +1 Score.

Tips:
-Rearrange your die results as you see fit to win each clash.
-You may only use each die roll once.
-You have 1 HP, losing a clash means you start over.

Example:

You rolled 7d10 for your round’s attack: (1,1,2,6, 7,5,10)

The Enemy Party attacks with 5d10 and rolls: (1,2,3,4,5)

You must overcome the Enemy Party’s attack as efficiently as possible.

You rearrange your number sequence and clash:

You: 1 / 2 / 5 / 6 / 7

Enemy: 1 / 2/ 3 / 4 / 5

Your 1 and 2 tie, allowing you to win those clashes.

The rest of your numbers are greater so you win those too.

So, you manage to slay the entire enemy party! +5 Points!

****

King You-din Statblock

HP: 1

Attack:

Sword of Plot Implications: Shadow Hax:

-Roll 7d10.
-Each roll is one attack.
-Sort your attacks so you tie or beat the enemy number in each slot.
-You always have 2 more dicerolls than the enemy, use this to your advantage.
-Rolling a 10 gives you +1 Hp.
***
Enemy rolls = 5d10

The rules can be explained, your desire for pain cannot.

Set to start: this weekend. Set to last: 1 week. Winner: Best high score.

Chako, Amy
A strange group of Cultists or Urukhan is suspected to have a base in Pormont.

Not much is known about them, but their goal is pretty clear. They desire to get rid of the Starcalled.

Specifically, they seem to be targeting UI Locked Starcalled in the region, trying to kill them for good... How they are getting information on who is UI Locked and who is not is a mystery.

Nonetheless, after receiving information about the group, and where their potential hideout might be located at, the Lion's Pride were quick to act, and decided to get a small group of inconspicuous volunteer Starcalled to take care of those cultists, before they become a larger threat.

Settings:
  • Player Count: 3-6 players
  • Death: Disabled (it's my first time DMing; I'd rather be safe than sorry in case I messed up in the numbers).
  • Difficulty: Easy-Medium, hopefully.
  • Complexity: Small
  • Homebrew Level: Small
  • BREAK usage: Small
  • Grid: Yes.
  • Playtest Packet: 3.08 -> https://docs.google.com/document/d/1L0hEr_7O8f6JFMvm_KYYVXkzrLP9msqyMzMffgGjHxo/edit?usp=sharing and https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet...JlJFK8Mmao/edit?gid=1779741687#gid=1779741687
    • Mastery Levels: C, D, D
    • Weapon, Armor, Acessory Levels: D, D, D
    • Expertise Levels: C, D, D
  • Expected Duration: 1-3 encounters depending on your performance and decisions. Each encounter is expected to last 2-3 cycles.
  • Pacing: No rush, but let's try finishing this before the maintenance, please.
  • Homebrew rules:
    • Heal and Power Heal: Heal an extra 5 HP for each unused Cleanse Charge
    • Charge (Weapon Arts):
      • Charge Powers up on every cycle, regardless of combat happening on the cycle or not.
      • You can spend a BA to release Charge early.
    • Taunt: Will work a bit differently than normal. You'll have to take enemy AI into account too when taunting. Details will be specified on each enemy's individual AIs.
  • Word Limit: None, but don't go too overboard, please.
  • Extra Flavor: Please assume your character is disguising themselves in some way if they're going to join. Specifically to look like a Lander. The idea is that you wouldn't want the Cultists to notice your approach (and as such, have a chance to run away) while you're getting there, so you're going disguised.
  • Extra OOC Info: I'm using the Playtest packet mostly because I want to enforce those specific Mastery/Weapon levels and stuff, since this was balanced towards a low-level party. Don't think of it as a playtest dungeon, but more like a normal DM'd dungeon.

Pandora's S5 Story Arc Interest Check
Paths of Fate

So we are approaching the relaunch of TS and the great reset. With these things underway and the general changes we know will be a part of it. I'm now opening up a survey/interest check to see who is chasing what.

For S5 there will be many things going on but for me, I have plans both for TS RL and TS IG. Remember these are Pan ideas so you should expect all the shenanigans (and pains) that come with that. Although I'm unsure how many of you know what my RL setting tastes are).

For RL. I want to try an opt in style system. Something like, I dont want my character's real life to be messed with, vs yes, gimme hard mode. I will start considering plots in regions of the world that involve them as well as 'methods' to get them to leave their normal settings behind (even if temporary). RL will not be all Boston like TS1, nor all USA all the time, as it was in TS2.

For in game I am interested in who will focus heavily on Tertoria beyond just the mainstream content. Which characters of yours would you push? How much you will give it priority over say, Hylands or Falderen? Also how much you may want Dissonance to be a part of your characters story? Tertoria is a region with many sub regions rather than one single schematic (crystals, blood, jungle, etc). So tell me if you want a long focus to get as much as possible in one go or a shorter episodic focus spread over time?

So yeah. Talk to me. ,My specialty is individualized visual novel story telling and strategic combat, so I can improve with some ideas what the community wants. Give me an idea what you're ok with vs what you're not. I will consider it going forward (but im stubborn so no promises heh).

This is not a disguised Asch interest check, but he might spy it and steal things. Its what he does.

Finally don't take it too seriously. We are all just filling time until TS3 finally starts afterall.

Residing in a certain corner of the internet is an anonymous group of cyber sleuths who have been collaborating to solve long standing internet mysteries.

In one of the most famous unsolved case involving a mysterious character, who netizens dubbed 'Ozymandias,' have made glitched appearance across a number of dead or abandoned VR games despite developers claiming that they have never included such a character in their game. Although the case have been cold for the past year, there has been a recent sighting of Ozymandias in the Japanese multiplayer ghost hunter abandonware: 2LDK.

First in a series of real-life challenges where members of the anonymous cyber sleuth group meet up (only knowing each other by alias) to follow the Ozymandia sighting in 2LDK. There will be some exploration of the Boston area and inside the game.

Max: 4 slots
Pace: High-paced
Genre: Mystery, horror, investigation
When: Sometime in season 5

Tears of Stars

Your vision blurs as you slowly awaken, the world around you swirling in a haze of forgotten dreams. The scene before you is both foreign and strangely familiar—a bustling market alive with vibrant colors, laughter echoing from taverns brimming with joy, and children's laughter dancing through the air.

The night sky above is a canvas of endless stars, twinkling like distant memories of the Arcia you know.

But why are you here, again?
