Screamed echoed in a swamp... One in Eastern Brisshal, certainly not the right place to find one, and yet, there it was... The culprit for this biome change? A large and oozy monster, lime-colored and with the spine and skull of a Goblin Champion inside of it.

An horrifying creature, one that a courageous boy, that certainly wore beginner gear and yet somehow wielded a powerful looking crystal sword, accompanied by a little fairy, decided to face the monster and take the bounty over its... head? Or whatever it had.

However, it didn't look like it was going well for the two of them.

Being chased, the fairy took flight, swiftly dodging the attempt of the large slime to bite and engulf her into its putrefying body.

"Eeeeeeeeew, get off, get off, get off! Max, kill this thing already!" Jade pleaded, fluttering her wings with wide open eyes, flying away from the harm.

"I am trying, but this alive-green-shit thing doesn't stop moving, god- damn it!" Max chased it around, swaying his crystal blade in attempts to get a good hit on the creature, but to no avail, it was simply too tenacious for his blade to connect.

"Grgrgrrwwllhuhuhghhhh..."

"For fuck's sake-" Max growled. "DIE GODDAMN IT!" He swung his blade, and this time, it connected, parting the creature in two! "Hah! Get screwe-"

And it instantly multiplied into two of them.

"... Yeah no. We are-" Before he could finish it, the slime sank its body on Max, pulling him off ground and starting to try to eat him as he flailed.

"Oh no! OH NO! MAX! WAIT! HELP, SOMEBODY HELP!" Jade cried, mustering courage to approach and hugging the boy's ankle, trying to pull him out with as much strength as she could.

Midnight-black hair danced in the air currents moving past her as Lorelei's feet led her running and bounding through the branches of the trees making up the landscape she was currently passing through. She'd been a couple of days now on her journey, and so far she'd gotten rather lucky. She'd not yet found herself face to face with any of the monsters or creatures that she was certain still roamed the lands she'd been so long gone from. She knew that luck wouldn't last forever, however, and she had made certain to stock up as well as she'd been able, before leaving Duunstad. She had also taken the time to put her newly acquired Alchemy skills to work. She hadn't been able to produce much given her limited inventory and funds at the current time, but what little she had managed to make and fashion for herself she was sure she would find benefit for in some situation or another.

Pausing in her steps, her feet resting against a large branch in a vastly overgrown tree, she took a moment to untie the canteen at her waist and take a swig of the liquid within, before returning the canteen to its place on her belt. Flexing the palm of her left hand into a quick fist and back out again, she brought up her palm UI, using the interface to check her location on her map. It seemed she'd entered Eastern Brisshal. The area definitely seemed even more 'wild' than she recalled. She pondered as she closed her UI and prepared to head on her way, debating on rather she might stop at the next village she came across. She wasn't on any sort of quest at this time. Rather, she was simply exploring; enjoying finding new things in the world.

Her steps only drew her a few feet further, however, before she stopped once more, the halt to her actions sudden as her head whipped around and her elongated, elfin ears twitched. ~Screams?~ The thought was fleeting as she turned her course to take her towards the sounds, curious to see what might be going on to cause such a loud ruckus. A quick run and a few jumps across some longer branches brought her closer to the source as she heard the sounds growing louder. The surrounding area, she noted, had become less dense with trees and plant-life. The ground below her was damp, wet and covered in water in some places, and the roots that poked up from the large, twisted trees were massive. The branches of the trees themselves were just as overgrown and gnarled as the roots of the trees, and she found herself having to slow her course as she neared just close enough to see the source of the sounds she had heard.

Naught but a few yards before her she could see what appeared to be a young boy, and he had definitely found himself in a spot of trouble. Arriving just in time to see the green blob-like creature he was fighting split into two, as he swung the sword he carried into the disgusting thing, one of the now two creatures moving to -grab?- the kid. The other darted towards something or someone she couldn't quite make out at the distance she stood. Whom or whatever it was was tiny. She could tell that much. She didn't bother thinking much more about the situation as she reached back to pull her longbow from it's loop against her back. It was clear that the kid wasn't likely to get through this fight alone, at least as she could tell.

Slender fingers dipped into her quiver, pulling free one of the arrows she had placed there. The shaft of the arrow was nothing special. Hand hewed wood she had gathered herself. The 'feathers' of the arrow were made from a thin but sturdy stretch of some leaf she'd also come across. It was the arrows head that mattered in the current case, however. Instead of the standard piercing tip the danger end of the weapon had lashed onto the shaft a small vial. The liquid within a clear blue, swirling with silver flakes and glowing with a light that just about anyone would recognize as magical. Nocking the arrow, she drew the string of her bow back. Her stance was straight, sturdy as she released the string and let the arrow fly.

She watched the arrow's trajectory with a keen eyes, observing as it hit it's mark just below the area of the green slimy thing that held onto the boy. She wasn't close enough to see the vial burst, but she was close enough to see the green of the creatures -Skin? Flesh?- lighten in color, its movements becoming slower as the freezing drought that had been held in the vial took effect. A light smirk curled her lips as she bounded down from the tree she stood in, another arrow nocked and ready before her feet hit the ground. Drawing the string back once more, she sent the second arrow flying for the other creature as she started making her way closer to the boy. Her skills in alchemy were still quite low, so she had no guarantee if her potions would work for long, and she wasn't about to leave a kid to fight the things alone.

The second creature stopped in its pursuit of what she could only say was a fairy, as she finally reached a near enough distance to actually see the little thing. She hadn't paid much mind to what the boy had been shouting as she'd come upon them, she'd only made a decision to assist. His personality mattered not to her in the moment, as she fired off another arrow into the creature that held him, the gelatinous thing becoming more stiff as more of the green slime froze. "Swing that sword, kid, get yourself out, before you can't." She shouted a fourth arrow leaving her bow and arching its way to the creature still closing in on the fairy.

"Name's Lorelei, I can assist, but I'm going to need cooperation." She shouted to the kid, not bothering to look and see if he'd made it free, as she concentrated her attacks on the other slime for the moment. The vile thing had stopped moving, which was a good thing, but Lorelei wasn't done, yet. Continuing her movements closer, she lifted her left leg and kicked the frozen slime as hard as she could, watching as it shattered into pieces beneath the blow. Then and only then did she return her attention to the boy, arrow at the ready, in case he'd not been able to free himself.

Max struggled, trying to squirm out of the creature's grasp, but that only made him sink deeper into it, with the acidic touch of the creature making his skin burn, while his nostrils and lungs were invaded with a piercing pain that crawled into his chest, prickling all of his senses and making tears form in his eyes.

As if it wasn't enough, the creature also coiled, trying to crush the boy's bones while he did everything within his strength to resist it--

It seemed like a hopeless situation, that is, until someone with a fierce aim and tools appeared, just in time to freeze the creature and give Max some breathing room-

Meanwhile, the other ooze was slowed down, giving time for the little fairy to make her full escape.

"Ah! A savior, we will live, Max, we will live!" Jade pleaded, fluttering her wings with wide open eyes, flying away from the harm.

"GLUGLUBLUUUGLUUUUU!!!" Max flailed, bubbling inside of the ooze monster, still unable to speak while drowning in the acid, but at least being able to hear her warnings- Sway his blade... Yes, he could do this much!

Mustering strength from the most primal instincts he could bear, the boy roared, swirling and slashing his crystal blade while it glowed with all the faerie magic it held, destroying the creature inside out and soon exploding it into pieces, now that its anatomy was frozen by @Lorelei Varic's alchemicals.
Stumbling, Max coughed, trying to recover his breath, while the small fairy approached him and pat his back.

"Max! Are you alright..?" Jade's wings fluttered, and her antennae became droopy.

"I-I am..." He coughed, wiping his tears and urging himself to stand, holding the sword with his hands. "Lorelei... Thank you! I am Max of Dynamax, and this goddamn snot will pay for this! OOK OOK EEK!" Max stomped the ground, chattering like a monkey and leaping at the ooze, swirling his blade to hit the hardened surface of the creature, created by the elf that had just saved him.

However, this ooze was prepared, managing to endure the attack and scooting away.

Lorelei's mossy-green hues scanned over the boy and the slime that still held him as she turned. A small smirk flitted across her lips as she watched the young boy manage to swing his sword. Effectively shattering the parts of the creature's anatomy that held him hostage and freeing himself in the process. The tips of her elongated, pointed ears twitched as she listened to the exchanges between himself and the fairy that appeared to be his companion. The tiny winged creature had flittered over to the boy, offering him comfort as it seemed to wilt with worry. The entire scene was actually quite heartwarming, if one cared to let it be.

Her hues shifted over the boy once again as his attention shifted to her, and he introduced himself. She said nothing at that moment, as she took in the extent of damage from the acid he'd been exposed to inside the gelatinous body of the slime. It seemed he'd made it out with minimal damage, but what wounds he had would still take some time to heal. The boy didn't seem to mind or notice at this point, however, as she watched him begin to attack the smaller portion of what was left of the oozing monster. Between his language and his adamant bolster for the battle before him, she couldn't help but find herself slightly amused, and she gave a soft snort as she glanced around the area they were in. Locating a decently sized portion of a fallen branch, she hefted the thing in one hand, feeling the weight and shape, quickly. It would do for the task she had in mind.

Tossing the broken piece of tree branch towards the boy, she called out to him. "Catch, Max." She said, watching as the club-like chunk of wood sailed towards the kid. The blunt object, used as a weapon would serve well to finish off what was left of the annoying blob. "Should finish the job, and who knows, maybe it'll leave something behind once it's gone." She said, her voice holding a hint of amusement. Sure, she could have wacked the thing and called it good, but it was much more entertaining to watch the kid go after the disgusting thing. Besides that, after what he'd just gone through, she felt he deserved the kill.

Observing the boy as he had gone back over the creature, she had not missed the sounds he had made, nor the language he had used. The little monkey almost seemed a bit feral, but she didn't really have a problem with that, either, if it were the case. Giving him time to take the club, if he so decided to finish the thing off, rather than letting it escape, she turned her attention to her left hand. Opening and closing her fist, she opened her ui. Navigating to her storage, she pulled out a few items, before closing her ui interface. In her hand rested an acorn cap and a small bottle swirling with a red liquid which seemed to shimmer with an almost silver light.

Uncorking the bottle of red liquid, she poured a few small drops into the acorn cap, holding in her palm and stretching her hand out towards the fairy, her other hand holding the still basically full bottle out towards Max. "When you're ready, this will help with the healing time on those wounds, and a bit with any fatigue or exhaustion. As for your thanks, it really isn't needed. You were in trouble. I did the right thing. It's fine. Nice sword, by the way." She said, before growing silent once more, observing the pair and waiting to see what they would decide to do.

Max's attention was caught by the call of the woman, and he quickly turned, glancing at the incoming branch and allowing his tail to wrap around it. "Thanks-" He said, locking a glare on the glob that tried to creep into a hole so it could sneak out of another.

The boy growled, starting to slam the blunt side of his sword and swing the branch at the same time, in a small 'hit the mole' moment before he finally managed to shove the branch on the slime, making it splash and splatter everywhere.

"Eeew..." Jade jolted, dodging a slime piece that nearly hit her, fluttering her wings and turning her attention to the woman, that seemed to approach with a healing alchemical. The fairy blinked, sniffing it.

Max didn't have any reservation, taking the potion. "Thank you again. Hah. I am saying so many magical words today my granny would be proud... As for the sword, this fairy gave me." He huffed, feeling the burning sensation fade, and his body relax. "It is a healing potion, Jade."

"Oh..." Jade fluttered her wings, taking the acorn cap and smiling "Thank you, warder of demons" She thanked, taking a sip of its contents.

"Warder of demons?" Max questioned.

"Yes, look!" Jade pointed at Lorelei's ears. "See? She is a warder of demons"

"Primal-touched, little summer, warder of demons... You keep calling people weird names."

Lorelei watched in quiet curiosity as the kid's tail wrapped around the make-shift club she had offered him. Her ears twitched, slightly, as she observed his movements. She found herself wondering just how much training he had, if any, what his masteries were, and where and how he had wound up being followed by his tiny companion. She was genuinely curious. Beastfolk that he might be, he was still a kid, and she couldn't help but be curious as to how he was truly faring alone. She could 'investigate' him, find some of her answers, but that wasn't her style of play. For her, Terrasphere was full immersion. When she was here, Lorelei was who she was, and she limited her use of the ui in a lot of ways. It was just better, in her opinion, for the full experience, it was also one of the few ways she had found to quiet the little voice in her head, but that was a worry for another day.

She watched the little monkey finally make contact with the slime, the make-shift club making quick work of what was left of the gelatinous creature. A light chuckle passing her lips as the little Fairy fluttered away from a splattered bit of the slime. The little bug? Person? Bug-person? What exactly was a fairy considered, anyway? She'd never seen one before now. She was actually quite fascinating and honestly rather adorable, if anyone were to have asked the Elfin woman her thoughts. Thoughts that she mentally shook herself free of as she watched the little fairy sniff at the potion she held out.

Turning her attention back to Max as he stepped up and took the potion from her, explaining to the fairy what it was, before she too took her portion. The boy was talking, again, and her attentions settled on him for the moment, chuckling, softly, as she heard him speak of his granny. She didn't question him on that, however. "You're welcome, Max. It was my pleasure to help." She said, offering the little monkey boy a grin as he answered her about his sword. "I'd like to know more about your sword, and I'm curious about your skills." She said to the boy, before his attention was drawn by fairy once more.

Lorelei's ears twitched as she listened to the exchange between the two. "You are most welcome as well, Jade, but I assure you, I'm no warder of anything, much less demons, unless you know something I don't?" She questioned the fairy, almost jokingly, though she was honestly curious as she heard the boy speak up of 'weird names' the fairy apparently kept calling people. "I am more than happy to listen if you want to tell me why you chose such a title for me, though, Jade." She addressed the fairy once more, before letting her attention fall to where the boy had finished off the slime, something having caught her eye in the midst of the pieces of slime laying around. Stepping over to the source, she leaned down and picked it up. It was a skull, goblin from what she could tell. Pondering a moment as she turned the skull in her hand, she looked back over to Max. "See, told you it might drop something. Head's up." She said as she tossed the skull towards Max, a slight twinkle in her eyes. "A souvenir for you."

The warmth and curiosity the woman showed made Max feel slightly sheepish. She was pretty much an adult, which made Max a bit more hesitant to be as loud and annoying as he usually was. But that didn't make him shy away from speaking up-

"My sword? Like I said, that fairy, Jade, gave to me." Max pointed at the fairy. "Me and and a girl saved her from some goblins, and I got it as a reward. She needs to enhance it with power though." He explained, showing his sword and offering it for Lorelei to touch and see it closer if she wanted.

The fairy fluttered her wings, puffing her chest confident and proud, but then her eyes turned to Lorelei, smiling.

"Because Yladians are warder of the demons. At least, ever since I've know it." Jade explained. "Aren't you a Yladian, Lorelei?"

Before the question sank in, however, Max cheered at the prize he got.

"Really? Can I keep it? You saved me tho-" He said, holding the skull with a grin. "Kickass. I'm sure I can deliver it for bounty." Max chirped, making the skull dematerialize into his UI.

Lorelei chuckled, slightly, as she reached to take the sword from the boy, examining it, closely, as she turned it in her hands. It was a heafty piece, and one that she could tell held quite a bit of force and power. It amazed her, honestly, to know that the boy could heft and manage to control the thing at all. Handing the sword back to him, she gave Max a wide grin. "You must truly have quite a destiny to be bestowed with such a treasure, huh, Max?" She asked him, before turning her attention to the fairy, as she heard her speak up.

She took note of the prideful way the little creature seemed to present herself, a soft smile tugging at her lips as she waited for the fairy to finish her words. The two were quite a pair, for sure, and Max's cheery demeanor and gusto for basically everything going on was almost infectious. She couldn't help but enjoy her exchange with the two, despite what might have brought the interactions on.
"Yes, Jade. I am Yladian." She said, her elongated, pointed-tipped ears twitching, slightly, as she raised a brow at the little fairy. "I can't recall having ever been called a warder of anything before, however."

She had barely finished her words to the fairy, when Max realized she was offering him the 'prize' from their slimy battle. "All yours Kiddo. I hope it catches you a fair price." She answered, laughing, softly, as she pulled a vial from her storage, leaning down to scoop up some of what was left of the substance that had made up their slimy foe, before capping the vial and storing it away once more. "So, where are you two headed from here?"

Max took his sword back, tilting his head when the woman mentioned he had a destiny. "Destiny? Like what?" He frowned. "I just want more gold and exp, if that will help me with it." Max shrugged.

Jade sighed. "You can only think about that, you greedy monkey?" The fairy frowned. "I've wanted to give my powers to someone that would achieve great things, so it seems like I've done a grave mistake! I should've given it to that sweet little girl that was with you."

"Hey! Why would you give it to her? She isn't worth of it at all, she stole my glowstones!" Max hissed, stomping in protest.

With a shrug, the fairy glanced away. "A thief dog and a greedy monkey, the perfect pair, for sure." The fairy shook her head. "In the end, I think it was all fated to failure... But well, I'm still grateful that you've saved my life, even if you are a dumb monkey."

"You are welcome, I guess." Max stuck his tongue out.

Jade ignored the tongue, turning to face Lorelei and pondering. "An Yladian that doesn't warder demons? I think you may be a different type then." The fairy flied near the elf, swirling around her. "Anyway, it is a pleasure to meet you! As for where we are going..."

"We are trying to go to any big city. So far I've only seen small towns and places that aren't fancy at all." Max said, then gesturing at Jade. "Worst part is that my travelling guide seems to have some memory problems, since she forgot everything that has happened in the last years."

Jade crossed her arms. "I didn't forget anything at all. I was in a catatonical state in a crystal. I just didn't see the world changing that much in a span of just... Five years?" The fairy frowned.

Lorelei chuckled as she listened to the banter between the fairy and the boy. Shaking her head, slightly, as she watched the boy stick his tongue out at the little creature. She might have had a mind to scold him, were the entire exchange not slightly cute. Besides, it wasn't like it was her place. Mossy-green hues shifting over to the boy, she gave him a wide grin as she prepared to answer his question. "Well, a destiny can be a lot of things, really, but most of the time it does come with some sort of rewards" She said with a soft chuckle, before turning her attention back to the fairy and her mention of Lorelei's race, again.

"I assure you, Jade, I am Yladian. I am just, perhaps, a little too new to this world to understand what it is you mean." She said, offering the fairy a small smile, before turning her attention back to the boy. "It sounds more like your guide may not be completely used to this world and the changes it has overgone the last few years, but I think she made a good choice in who to offer her power to. You just need a chance to prove yourself." She said, before cutting herself off as if to ponder over something.

"You say you are trying to find a big city. Dunnstads isn't far from here, and in Dunnstads is Stockbon ..." She trailed off, once again seeming to ponder over something, her expression darkening for a moment, before her eyes brightened once more and she gave a wide smile to the pair before her. "I'll gladly show you the way, if you'd like." She didn't see any reason she wouldn't enjoy the company, and the trip could be beneficial for them all, as well as allowing for the tiny duo to have some sort of help along their journey.

Max nodded, considerably more hyped now that he knew all of that destiny talking would come with some sort of reward. "That's kickass." Max said, turning to Jade and smirking. "Hey, give me all of this destiny thing to me."

Jade's eyes narrowed, and she glanced at Lorelei before sighing and shaking her head "Alright, alright. You will have more 'destiny'." The fairy gave up.

"New... That must mean you are a Starcalled." Her wings fluttered, crossing her arms and peeking at Max. "Just like this monkey here."

"Yeah, a monkey. And a monkey that will prove you that he is very strong and worth of a destiny and the rewards that come with this fancy-named quest!" Max exclaimed, gesturing at himself with his thumb, fairly confident on himself.

When an offer came up, however, and Max nodded. "Yeah, please. I have no damn idea of where I am." He accepted the help, soon getting his feet to move.

Jade followed, but not before throwing more questions to the elf. "I hope we aren't getting on your way, Lorelei. Or did you intend to do anything in Stokbon?"

Lorelei chuckled, softly, as she listened to the two, making sure she had all of her items and things put away and was prepared to travel as she listened. "I'm sure your destiny will grow just as you will, Max." She said as she slung her bow over her shoulder and gave them both a wide smile.

"Yes, Jade. I am a Starcalled." She said, turning towards the direction they would need to travel. "I am quite certain, Jade. No worries at all. I haven't been back long, and I'm mostly just exploring." She replied to the little fairy, as she motioned for the two to follow her.

"Maybe we'll find some more things to battle with along the way, Max, what do you think?" She asked, giving a soft chuckle, as she took the first step to start their journey.

Max pondered about Lorelei's statement, nodding, understanding. "So it will grow as my exp and gold grows. I'm ready to take this destiny on then." He huffed, determined.

Jade sighed. "You greedy..." She halted her words, rubbing her temples and looking at Lorelei.

"If that is the case, it explains everything." She nodded. "These unique skills, and the desire to explore... Truly, only the Starcalled have those so intensely."

The two of them continued their path, following Lorelei to somewhere else, with the boy perking up at the suggestion of more battles.

"It would be perfect, especially if there is loot. I hope we have some bandits to kill. They usually have a lot of loot." He clenched his fists.

"Your eager to kill people is scary, Max." She shuddered.

"It isn't people, it is just low level mobs." Max argued, then glancing at Lorelei. "Say, you explore a lot, right? Have you seen cool places and loot around? What sort of stuff did you fight before?" It wasn't every day he could talk to a higher level player just like that, so he intended to make full use of it.
