Personality
In real life, Adelaide can be compared to a ghost. She rarely speaks unless spoken to, preferring to listen and contribute to conversations only when she's sure of her words. This has generally given her coworkers the idea that she's shy but intelligent, although a few people have assumed she is too stuck up to socialize. Unfortunately, it's not ego but rather intense social anxiety that drives her behavior. She wakes up, goes to work, plays video games, goes to bed - repeat ad infinitum.
She cares strongly for animals, especially cats. After her childhood cat passed away she chose to start donating to local shelters instead of adopting another one due to fear of loss. Adelaide has a few people she considers close friends, but they are online and long-distance, which lets her interact with them when she is comfortable. Most of them are aware of her depressive personality and have stuck by her despite her occasionally seeming to disappear when it's too hard to socialize.
In-game, Hyacinth gets to be everything that Adelaide wishes she was. This can mean that her personality changes to suit the player's mood, sometimes quiet and sometimes outgoing. Ultimately, however, she uses this to release the anger, the hurt, the disdain felt deep inside her heart. Hyacinth won't be the one to start a fight, but she will analyze her opponent's every move and punish them for each mistake. She enjoys watching them suffer the pain, the real pain Terrasphere provides; it helps that she enjoys feeling a little pain herself. She does not shy away from taking a blow if it means exacting one in turn.
She is not here to make friends but will accept them if they benefit her. She is not here to find love, because a video game avatar is not real. Between fights, Hyacinth likes to explore the world and see the sights. Any location with flowers or water is a potential resting spot to read a book or enjoy a snack. Gathering herbs, growing and tending to plants, and sketching local fauna are other activities that delight her. Most elves are considered to have an obsessive dedication to a purpose, and for Hyacinth, that dedication is to her own happiness.

Background
Escapism. Some pursue love while others fall into drugs; Adelaide chose to game instead. She was born to a penniless single mother who did her best to keep them off the streets, ultimately marrying a man for his money and the stability it provided. Unfortunately, he was neither an attentive father nor a kind man, and for the most part, both parents were too wrapped up in their own lives to take notice of hers. There was shelter, there was food, and there was entertainment, but no affection. She threw herself into video games and online culture, where at least making friends was easy because she could carefully craft her persona.
She earned an undergraduate degree in Psychology but had no interest in becoming a therapist or professor. Instead, she took a low-level role at an international company and slowly worked her way up to a junior data analytics role. Adelaide was always interested in statistics and data visualization and her mentors picked up on the innate talent she displayed through her work. A few promotions later she was earning enough money to move as far away from her parents as possible, working remotely and living quietly.
It was probably fated that she received an email with a QR code for some virtual reality game: Terrasphere. Most VR spaces had just been disappointments to her, but it never hurt to give it a try, especially considering the government had banned it. That was the best advertisement possible. She was hooked from the character creation screen, spending hours crafting the cutest avatar with all the traits she did not dare have in real life. Escapism through anonymity was the most freeing type of all.
