Honeyhome was, as it always was, peaceful. Or at least it appeared to be as such. People continued about their daily lives, maintaining the welcoming smiles, the warm greetings and the general atmosphere one would expect in a small village away from the brunt of the changes in the world. Yume had found the placement to be rather enjoyable, to a means. Not that she was by any means held here by any specific requirements or laws.

Her peace, however, had been disturbed when she'd received a missive from one of the local Lion's quarters. The missive had been simple, a notice that populations around Honeyhome - those of a goblinesque nature - had begun to show stirrings. There had been a few rumours about individuals disappearing on the roads, and an increase in actions against those who found themselves falling into the forests of Eastern Brisshal for the very first time.

Weird, that they would start now...I wonder if there's a reason they're all upset?

She mused aloud to herself, knowing that she would never be able to figure out the answer without investigating it. Her orders had been explicit - react only, defending those who called for help. There was no need to go hunting them down, or looking for trouble if she could avoid it.

Hopefully there's no problems. Nice and peaceful, is always best.

No sooner had the words escaped her lips, that the shouting had begun. Yume's head snapped to her left, looking towards the eastern edge of the village. She could still hear the shouting, the sounds of distress - and a single word sticking out against all the others. Goblins

No longer was she able to conduct her usual business outside of Astorea's borders.

Were it up to the Storyteller, she would search high and low for those willing to enjoy a spirited conversation over tea or some other drink of choice, talking the troubles of the day away as she put to paper the feelings which had so deeply embedded themselves into others' routines.

However, no longer did Landers look to the stars they had so dearly wished upon once with kind eyes.

There weren't enough hands to go around. Not enough hands to make amends, to do the work that was needed around the land, to help rebuild. Strained as the relationship between the two kingdoms had become, it fell to the few Starcalled who remained to improve upon their own circumstances.

A scream cut through her thoughts, her head snapping in the direction of it as she clenched a hand around a piece of paper. Right, she had been tasked with shadowing a member of the Lions, and here she was, wrapped in her own head.

The elf surged in a burst of movement then, step after deliberate and hurried step rushing towards the source of the panicked screams. Her associate would have to pardon her lateness, and she would make sure to give a thorough apology, but for now...

Strangers rushed past her, some showing signs of injury, whether self-inflicted in their rushed attempts to escape or produced by another's weapon, she couldn't tell.

"Where are they?" Rael stopped one, and questioned them for the whereabouts of the goblins, but the Lander yielded no response and kept running.

"Miss, it's dangerous to stay out here!" Rael called out to a particular blonde female, just stepping into the scene as she herself just had.

The injured streamed past Yume, few covered in blood. She was surprised by that - she had expected it to be far more surreal, far more...well, movie-like. Instead, she found most hobbling by with broken bones, or other non-visible injuries - held up by those who carried them onwards and away. Her eyes scanned the area beyond, looking for the cause of the strife, but coming up empty. The square ahead was evacuated, for the time being, but whatever had caused the chaos had apparently chosen to leave, their chaos caused and their deeds done.

Yume turned at a voice calling out, explaining that the situation was dangerous. Pink hair, and a fair face met her sight as she took in the other person. There was no sign of fear - in fact, they carried themselves well, considering everything. Karera ni wa keiken ga arimasu. As far as she knew, Yume was the only Lion's Pride member in the area - but that didn't mean that there wouldn't be others, capable individuals who'd faced death and more.

, yoshi...the dangers seem to have left the area. At least, for now...

She had no idea who this individual was, but for the moment Yume found that her attention was elsewhere. Her greeting was brief, to the point, and very much so in disregard to how her father had taught her to behave.

I am MayoYume of the Lion's Pride...squire...assigned to the area to investigate and do...something...about the increased population of goblinoids and other dangers to the area. You may call me Yume.

She turned to face the only direction that she could see the goblinoids would have taken - a path leading back towards the edge of the village, and into the forests. Small, easily only two persons wide, and most likely a trap waiting for whomever followed.

If you'll excuse me, I need to see if I can't convince these...gaijin...to leave the village in peace.

She set forth, her stance showing a determination that she barely felt inside herself. She wasn't confident in her choice, but there were others watching, looking on to see what she would do - and that meant that she was required to take action. Hito o mamorou to shite iru wake janai no ni, dōshite koko ni iru no?

"Where... Oh..."

The late arrival of able adventurers to handle the threat would speak for itself in the amount of the wounded that fled past, trickling out of the area until none than she and another would remain to piece together information on the enemy.

As luck would have it, despite being unable to locate her partner for the assigned mission in the first place, the two girls would soon stumble upon each other. The relief that washed over her would've been immediately visible, were it not for the fact that the elf kept from outward displays of emotion on almost every occasion.

For the sake of a possible acquaintanceship, however, her lips pulled slightly at the corners into a smile.

"Miss Yume, it is a pleasure to meet you." Aware of the lack of impending threats surrounding them, the girl rested her attention on the stranger she was meant to assist for the day, hands falling to the skirts of her dress and extending the fabric outward as she bowed to the woman.

Raising her head to look back at the squire revealed that she had already decided on a course of action to take, continuing ahead in pursuit of a rising goblin threat. More surprising than her apparent determination was the way she referred to the goblins, and the thought that a peaceful resolution was possible.

Surely she knew better than to think such a thing was possible?

Oh, but Rael was one to talk...

Hurried steps saw her catching up with the blonde quite quickly, walking a few feet behind her rather than beside her as the path allowed, out of simple respect for her personal space.

"My name is Rael, I was assigned to be your companion for the day and ensure the success of the mission. Would you mind telling me what makes you think it might be possible to persuade them to stop their attacks?"

Yume had begun to falter in her steps as the newcomer -
Kanojo no namae wa Rael.
- questioned her position. She had intended to speak with the Goblins, to try and resolve the situation peacefully, but as she was asked aloud how she expected to do that, she found herself failing to think of a single good reasoning, or pathway to such an outcome.

Ah...I will...speka with them, kindly...Karera wa rikai surudeshou...I'm sure they'll know that when I speak to them, we mean peace...hai?

Even as she said the thoughts aloud, she questioned herself. Would the Goblinoids accept that there could be peace between the two groups? She had been sent here by the Lion's because the Goblinoids had become so violent. Perhaps there was no hope in a peaceful resolution?

Īe! Heiwa no chansu wa itsu demo arimasu! Her internal voice was firm, far firmer than her external one had been. She was determined to try, at the very least. If that failed...well, that wouldn't fail.

I will go and talk with them...they will surely see that peace is better, hai. They are not stupid creatures, so they must understand. No one can live in violence all the time.

She turned to face Rael, waiting to see what the girl would say in response. She doubted that the newcomer would agree so easily to her plan - but she was ready to fight any disagreement. Raionzu ga watashi o okutte kuremashita. Karera wa watashi ga kore o okonau koto o shinrai shite imasu.
