No one knew where they came from - the Heroes that would seize the people's hearts within their palms.

They spoke with strange phrases and fondled the air with gestures none comprehended. Barely comprehending anything, they found their way into this world and went about it as if it were the natural thing to do. Solving local troubles, poking their heads into dangerous affairs others had the sense to veer away from, collecting precious materials from the wilderness, and changing the world they knew so little of by sheer force of will.

No one knew why they disappeared.

Weeks that spanned into months, that then spanned into years. What progress had been accomplished, what wonders and miracles had been achieved in the Heroes' presence crumbled under the oppressing weight of their absence. In time, few remained to remember those who had fought for a world that did not belong to them. Fewer even were those who dared to hope they might yet come back.

Were Heroes not made of the same miracles they so effortlessly performed? Of the same hope they easily bestowed upon others?

A wish was granted.

All at once, the world came into motion once again with their return.

The pieces fell into place as streaks of light that pierced through the sky to herald the return of those who had left so massive an imprint on this world. Unfamiliar stars rose to join the constellations made by Heroes they already knew too well.

The stars that had gone astray had finally found their way back home.

And it would only be a matter of time before Arcia's relentless nature came to claim its dues… But for now, none of that mattered.

It was the birth of a new era marked by your arrival, by your first set of footsteps into this world.

Long have we awaited your return, and now we wait with bated breath to see how you'll engrave your name in history once more.

Come, Hero, to the world that would see your story be born.

Rest your weary shoulders. Let your guard down.

Enjoy yourself.

Gods know you've earned it.

What is this?

The Homecoming Festival is not a DM challenge or a quest. There are no sign-ups required to participate in any of the related activities, and there will be no rewards given for the completion of threads associated with it. Similar to Vesuvyan's Reaping Season, the Homecoming Festival is a series of thematic prompts that Players may pick and choose from for use in their own, personal threads.

The Homecoming Festival is divided in two:
  1. Preparation Phase: In which players take on a number of tasks meant to help prepare for the upcoming festival, fulfilling a series of jobs and helping one another and NPCs to make sure that everything is ready for the big day. The festival is not yet ready, so celebrations aren't happening quite yet!
  2. Celebration Phase: In which the big day has arrived and celebrations are fully underway! Players are able to explore the designated areas and participate in different games, sharing in the spirit of adventure with one another, and toasting to the myriad adventures to come. IC Games will also be posted and linked.

Advancing to the next Phase

First and foremost, make sure that when posting a thread related to the festival, you add [Homecoming] somewhere in the title. Let's get this party started and make it as widely known as possible!

In order to advance to the Celebration Phase, you must gather points through finished threads to fill out the bar found at the bottom of this post. The base reward for each thread is [10 points] so long as every participant within the thread has made at least 3 posts.*
*Note: Even if your thread hasn't finished, you can submit it for points in this thread so long as the posting minimum has been met!

Completing the following tasks grants a bonus to your score (they are all cumulative):
  • [30 points] Your thread includes 3 or more people, all of who've met the minimum post requirements
  • [20 points] You Roleplayed with someone you've never written with before.
  • [15 points] You came up with a prompt and/or mechanic of your own!
  • [10 points] Your thread uses Dice Mechanics in some shape or form.
  • [10 points] You rolled a Nat 100!
  • [5 points] You successfully stopped someone from messing with the festivities!
  • [5 points] You made peace with someone during the festivities.
  • [5 points] You partied a little bit too hard and got drunk...
  • [5 points] You left nothing unsaid and bared your heart to someone else.
  • [5 points] You left something in a better state than when you first found it.
  • [5 points] You brought a date to the festival!
  • [5 points] You gave someone a gift!
  • [5 points] You brought other people together!
  • [5 points] You got all dressed up in your fancy clothes for the event.
  • [-5 points] You rolled a Nat 1...
  • [-5 points] You started a fight. Smh.

Now for the Prompts...
  • The following are a series of prompts meant for Players who wish to assist with the Festival's preparations, focusing on a diverse amount of tasks that need to be completed for all things to run smoothly. With large projects such as this, especially with the recent turmoil the Starcalled Nation has been put through, things are bound to go south in ways one would not normally expect... It is up to you to ensure that all is resolved in due time!

Know that, though each series has its own overarching themes, with activities linked to them listed in the form of prompts, these are not the only way in which Players can offer their help to prepare for the Festival's arrival. It is highly encouraged for Players to form their own prompts and "quests", so long as they relate to the Festival itself and helping in some way.

The same is to be said for the mechanics - You are free to come up with your own mechanics for your own threads!

    Food & Drink

These prompts focus on the gathering of ingredients, helping around in the kitchens, or preparing dishes for the upcoming festival.

    Prompt #1: Dinner Rush!
With the fated day fast approaching, the kitchen finds itself severely understaffed, and orders just keep piling up one after the other. Everyone knows a festival isn't complete without all sorts of exotic treats to feast upon! Now go do something about it!
    Prompt #2: Green Thumbs
Trying to replicate the Travelers' favorite dishes has been an arduous task for the Landers, who run through the necessary ingredients like there's no end to them. Except there is, and it falls to you to gather what they require to continue their experimentation.
Prompt #3: Let The Hunt Begin!
A bounty has been placed! An illustrious chef is willing to handsomely reward whoever can bring them bits and cuts of exotic animals found around the world, but the pieces themselves must be intact and fit to use in the kitchen.
Your eyes are blown wide at the promised pay, you simply have to...

    Decorations

These prompts focus on renovating the landscape, making it prettier, adorning the streets with objects of magic and whimsy to liven up the atmosphere!

    Prompt #1: Grubby Hands
A group of children from the local orphanage caught wind of the adults' scheming, and wish to prepare gifts and all sorts of trinkets for the arrival of the Heroes whom they've heard so much about. Help them through this endeavor without giving yourself away.
Prompt #2: Call the Cleaning Crew
No matter where your gaze is drawn to, you can still see remnants of the war against the Magia and the toll it's taken on the royal capital... Rubble and debris still linger on the streets, despite everyone's best efforts. Lend them a hand, won't you? Maybe add your own touch to make the city more presentable!
Prompt #3: A Petal For Your Thoughts
Flowers all have different meanings, differentiating themselves from one another with something so simple as their color. A token of gratitude, appreciation, love, loss - no matter, they all mean something to someone out there. Make flower arrangements and bouquets that will be given out to those that remain, and those who don't.

    Entertainment

These prompts focus on helping wandering performers, hiring artists, organizing games or bringing in all sorts of games or activities others may enjoy partaking in!

    Prompt #1: Starlit Shine
You! Yes you, right there! Oh, don't be silly, of course I'm talking to you!
That's how it went. An unfamiliar, yet bright face plucked you from your daily routine and dragged you into a theater troupe's tent, announcing loudly that you were to be the replacement for an actor/actress that had recently gone missing. Don an outlandish, ridiculous disguise; recite poems and take to the stage! Looks like you'll be performing at the festival now, break a leg!
    Prompt #2: Lute Hero
Hiring performers to play background music, sing and dance, and add merriment to the big day shouldn't be hard. In fact, it isn't! The hard part comes when multiple of them encounter each other, and start fighting about who's going to play what, and who's going to play where... Can you bring some harmony to this discordant melody?
    Prompt #3: Two Left Feet
Contrary to popular belief, dance numbers - yes, like those in Disney Movies - are still pretty much in fashion. You don't usually pay mind to it until you glimpse out of the corner of your eye a group of Landers intent on learning to dance the way Starcalled do, flailing their arms about nonsensically to some mysterious tune... Well, don't just stand there allowing them to humiliate themselves! Looks like you're a dance coordinator now, have fun!

    Security

These prompts focus on ensuring that everything runs smoothly, from the preparations to the day of celebration itself.

    Prompt #1: Baby Steps!
Travelers have increased in number as of late. Usually, the duty of keeping them safe upon first entering Terrasphere would fall to the Lions, but with all the excitement going about, they have their hands full. Head to Eastern Brisshal and make sure that no new adventurer comes to harm at the hands of some monster.
Prompt #2: For Money... Or Not?
In the days leading up to the festival, bandit sightings have significantly increased in the areas surrounding Finweald. They flock towards the scent of funds and other goods being transported in and out of the ruins of the capital... Or so would be the common belief, except nothing of the sort seems to be going missing. Find out what's truly going on!
    Prompt #3: Starcrossed
It is rumored that Falderen has caught wind of the Starcalled's intentions and are none too pleased to watch them celebrate in the wake of all that has recently come to pass... Watch out for ways they might try to sabotage the festival, or worse, bring harm to the people working on it.
