Epic or not, grandiose or mundane, a quest is a quest, and this one was of crucial importance despite it's simplicity. A missive that, of course, her captain would not let it rest a second. It was clear his obligations would take him to the community center where they worked overtime to get the meals prepared for the festival, a celebration that could certainly bolster the spirits of the people and amend once broken bonds.

Of course she wouldn't leave Hanno alone. As a fellow cook, as a fellow Lion, and as a fellow Buddy. Be it to the depths of a goblin's nest or of a neat, steamy kitchen. Yet in this case, she took the opportunity to arrive earlier than intended, as her stomach called for a break. A break she knew the good ol' Captain wouldn't allow.

Donning a far more casual outfit, Elesis sat over a bench that functioned as a chair for one of the large rectangular tables, one of the many that covered the ample dinning room that had almost no one present, save for the few souls coming in and out to bring ingredients over to the kitchen, Elesis stared down to the steam coming out on her bowl instead, mixed with vegetables, roasted meat slices and scrambled eggs, forking a slice right into her mouth and chewing away at it.

"Thish hish sho guuod!" She groaned, chewing down calmly before giving one of the eggs a try. Her taste buds approved, for as long as it lasted given the second a familiar green figure stepped into the buil

ding, and realization dawned on her, Elesis begun to choke and gag over them, swallowing hurriedly as a chill ran down her spine in shock, hindsight made her brain cuss at itself...

She's a fool. The greatest of fools, for assuming he wouldn't also arrive earlier, even earlier than earlier. Her body pouted, still feeling the soreness of so many squats and push-ups, she didn't even want to think about what would happen if he found her slacking...

Act cool, act cool...

Pushing a slice right against her lips to hide how they trembled, Elesis tuned up a slightly smug, careless look to make this seem completely normal.

"Hail, Captain. I wasn't expecting thee this early in the morn. I figur'd i would cometh hither and has't some breakfast ere we did get to worketh."

Hanno didn't really like coming late to anywhere, and when it came to cooking? Hell no.

And thankfully, he had his beloved squire @Elesis Blackstone to get in this journey of gastronomy with him. A true battle to satiate the devouring desires of the participants of the festival that would love to get their greasy hands into some unique cuisine.

"I am glad you are liking the food, Lassie!" Hanno beamed, looking at Elesis that not only was here even earlier than him, but was already stuffing her mouth and belly with delicious food.

"Did you order something to me? If not, eat this out real quick, we got some food to cook, and of course, to taste as soon as we are ready!" He chirped, grinning widely while looking at the beastfolk with a ferocious and defiant expression.

He was only going to be satisfied when he had made enough food to feed a whole arse town.

His first reaction sounded just completely out of place compared to the competitive lad she worked with back at the forest. Could it be a trap? A test?!

Nah, he looked so genuine, the energy almost transposed back to her and made her smile grow wider even. "Captaaaain!!" She waved at him. "This but a gift from the gods themselves. A delicacy meanteth to beest did enjoyeth with company." She illustrated through words alone.

If her ears were pointy and fox-like, they would be flattening against her head right now, but instead her tail tucked around her legs, an apologetic glint in her eye quickly replaced by a grin of her own as Elesis waved for him to take a seat. "What thee bethink the big bowl is for, captain? i can't consume all this myself!" It wasn't that much, but there should be plenty to satiate his hunger for a meal, before they worked on satiating his hunger for duty.

"I hadst spoken with the staff at the kitchen. They cleaning things up f'r us as we speaketh. Can thee believeth thither wast only two working hither? nay wonder, with all the cleaning duty, how they art underprepar'd f'r the week." Elesis commented, proven right with the sound of plates and utensils being put aside as water can be heard splashing about. "I has't a surprise yond shall holp us. I'll showeth thee later." She winked back at Hanno, confidence blooming through her voice, yet her gaze soon left him as she begun to glance around, squinting as something seemed to be amiss- Or rather, someone.

"Shall miss ghast join us at cooking? the lady's so full of energy, the lady might doth the worketh of ten assistants on the kitchen" She asked, crossing her ass over the table once her gaze returned to the Faerin.

Hanno grinned, taking a seat and resting his shield next to it as soon as he received the invitation in the form of a hand gesture. Resting on the seat, he looked at the big bowl and could feel his stomach urging for it, but not before he took a glance at Elesis. "Thank ya, buddy. I will remember that you saved me some food." He took a plate, filling it with the meals he desired while looking at Elesis and listening to her explanation.

"Good! This will make our work quicker. But I am interested on what kind of thing you have prepared to help us out." He finished preparing his plate, and soon filled his mug with a good drink to accompany the meal he had with him.

When questioned about Ghast, he pondered for a moment. "Well, Ghast is a bit of a complicated matter. She would be great to help us, but I think she will end up eatin' everything when we ain't looking." He laughed. "But, if we really need her, we can try to get her into the matter."

As he forked some of his food, the shield that rested on the chair rumbled.

Elesis flashed a pearly and gleeful smile once the captain took his own share from the bowl. "Thank me not, Captain. To shareth is to careth!" She said, resting her elbows over the table, giving some time for the Faerin completed his plate with a mug, the likes which reminded her to get a hold of her own and steal a sip from.

"Well, i wast bethinking t would beest a most wondrous opportunity to gather donations for the efforts to rebuild the city, and so i pool'd mine own savings to buyeth a cart, a large pot and enow ingredients to last us the whole festival." A brief pause, enough to refresh her throat with ale in one good swing. "Alloweth the people knoweth the lions art still hither despite t all, eft to help." She rised her mug on a toast, spilling some of her drink on her own clothes in the process, yet it would take more than some droplets of booze to tone down her excitement.

Rather, it switched to fox-like curiosity as Ghast was considered a 'complicated matter', eyes darting between Hanno and the rumbling shield. "The lady can consume all she wishes at the festival, so long as t's food what we speaketh of and not the living." She chuckled, It wouldn't be a celebration with a ghost town afterall. "But i am confident we wonneth't needeth that lady to cook if 't be true the lady doesn't feeleth to doth so, t would simply beest f'r fun's sake."

Hanno rose an eyebrow at the quote Elesis brought up, but he felt proud that the squire was being so selfless right off the bat. Truly, a kindhearted soul that may be a squire, but was already a knight at heart despite not knowing it.

How she went on about getting funds to rebuild everything only reinforced what Hanno already knew, and a smile grew on his face.

"It is a wonderful opportunity for that, you are right, Lassie." He forked a piece of his food, gesturing at her. "Let me know if I can help with the funds too. You shouldn't spend all of your money on it, you need some to survive around here too-" Hanno then paused, and added- "But more than them knowing that the Lions are still here, the people need to know they have someone watching over them."

His gaze then locked on Elesis.

"And I can't think of anyone more fitting than you for it."

And he took a bite of the food he forked, listening to her trying to defend Ghast, eventually shrugging. "Well, for the fun, I can sure call Ghast to join us. Let's just hope we won't regret it, bwahahaha!"

Hanno's smile only reassured her efforts were in the right place. Her back felt a little straighter, her voice more confident, and her features beamed to reflect it so, as if all she needed was an expert's input, and the captain delivered as she hoped for.

"By all means, captain, thy assistance would beest an hon'r. But worry not about mine own purse, i'll consume fusty bread if 't be true did need... Regardless, i didn't spendeth all of 't." She admitted, a hand holding her chuckles back, muffled giggles escaping from the seams, seconds later picking up her mug once again as per routine.

Only to almost spit its content out once he pinpointed her as the premiere star to inspire Astoreans.

"Gah!" A fist slammed against her chest as she coughed a few times, a swift recovery leaving her face completely red, partially from embarassment. "Captain, citizens belike knoweth thee f'r thy many feats, one doesn't becometh a captain of the lions without having did save astorea a few times at least!" Elesis protested. "I am but a squire, and I'm most honored to be your squire. I shall prove myself to you one day, but until then, I will make sure you shine like no other Lion, as per my duty as a squire." Steel-like resolve on her voice.

"Just like t's anon mine own duty to maketh sure Lady Ghast doest not englut all the festival's food. Thither's plenty to doth at the kitchen, so i has't high desires the lady wonneth't disturb our worketh-" A smile on her lips, Elesis leaned down to the side to lock eyes with the shield from an angle. "Right, Lady Ghast?"

Hanno rose a questioning eyebrow to Elesis when she mentioned she didn't spend all of it, playfully doubting her on it. But of course, he didn't let it linger for too long, instead, he nearly reached for her back when she started coughing, frowning in concern until she finally responded him.

"... I didn't really save Astorea all by myself... It was through the hard work of a lot of people, and a lot of people that did far more than I ever did, and sacrificed much more than anyone else." He crossed his arms, leaning on his chair and snatching the mug for a sip, letting out a faint chuckle when he processed her latter wordings.

"Your duty ain't making me shine, Lassie. Your duty is to protect people." Hanno tilted his head. "Besides, you keep proving me a lot of things every time we meet."

When referred to, Ghast rumbled quietly, and Hanno peeked at the shield with a curious gaze.

"Oh, you are awake, Ghast? You are oddly quiet today."

The central eye opened, rather narrowed as its pupil rose to look at Hanno, and a growl lingered for a moment until she allowed a voice to escape. "Yes, I am listening to you doubting my self-control, bleeeh-!" A spikey tongue stuck out of the central eye.

She tried to smile between coughs, waving a hand to dismiss his worries, visible even to her with half-squinting eyes. "Drink took... The wrong turn..." She whispered as a deep breath ended her cough fit.

"Of course, one cannot beest a hero by themselves. Thither art plenty of unsung heroes. I am not one of these, captain. Thy name carries a presence mine doest not. Not yet." A wishful tone let her ambitions exposed, even if her heart yearns for duty moreso than glory. "Still, you are right. I shalt standeth eft f'r Astorea, i'll beest t's sword & shield, now and always. I can promise thee yond much, Captain." She concluded, pressing a hand against her heart a little too hard given the flicker of pain on her face.

There was still too much to prove, regardless of how much he claims she did- Nothing, in her eyes. Only become an obstacle to some goblins and nothing more!

A laughter escaped from her lips the moment the eldrich tongue escaped from an open eye, something she should be completely disgusted of and yet the intent completely removed the grotesque of it. "How about we prove Hanno wrong, Lady Ghast? if 't be true thee can hold back, then I shalt cook aught thy heart desires f'r a day. And he shalt apologize to thee." Her eyes darted back to Hanno for a moment, winking back at the faerin as her masterplan unfolded. Or at least, an attempt to fool the devil with a trade.

"Be a good sword, and I shall be a good shield. And together, Astorea won't need to worry about anything else." Hanno huffed confidently, moments before his friend went on and tried to cook some mind games with an eldritch dissonant abomination.

Sure, something worth of the best lovecraftian comedy books, and Hanno was all down for it.

Looking at @Elesis Blackstone with a grin, Hanno returned the wink subtly and crossed his arm, as if he was giving it a very stern thought. "Hmmm, I don't know... I would apologize if Ghast proved me wrong... But I have a feeling she would only disappoint me." He crossed his arms, letting out a sigh and opening one eye to peek at Ghast, that seemed to perk up, soon shifting to her humanoid shape.

"Yes! I can prove big bro wrong! It is easy. He is wrong, after all, so it is only natural!"

"Is that so?" Hanno challenged.

"Of course. I don't understand why you d̷̤̹̀̉̓o̸̡̢̱̽̓̄u̸̞͈̓b̵̛͉͉̟t̴̹̜͕͝͝ ̶͚̭̿m̷͚͗̄e̵͔͆̀͝ so much, but that is just the truth."

Her voice cracked through her words, and Hanno eventually nodded, in agreement.

"Very well. Prove me wrong, and I will apologize, and not only that. I will give you something really good."

"Huh?! Really good?!"

"Really good."

The fake faerin's eyes sparkled, and she turned to look at Elesis.

"And perhaps i'll beest a valorous crossbow instead! I has't begun to tinker, as perchance distance shall beest fruitful f'r one such as I. Easier f'r thee to protect me if 't be true i'm not in the way." A comment she quickly brushed aside. Such talks are of science, and how does she know that topic won't put her captain to sleep?

No, the focus here was on Ghast, the fox's eyes glittering with mischief as Hanno caught up to her antics only to pull a performance befit of a first grade actor. Akin to fishing, he dropped the bait and Ghast devoured it, fishing rod and all included.

"Bold of thee to dare Lady Ghast, Cap'. This lady's determination is beest not trifl'd with..." She squinted, a serious glare on her gaze locked right on Hanno. "Hmmmmm..." She pondered, her tail struggling to sway from side to side against her seat, eventually forcing her up to her feet as Ghast locked eyes with her.

"Aha! a knight's word is nev'r broken. Thee hath heard him, Lady Ghast. Once Captain Hanno is done lollygagging with his meal, we shalt leaveth f'r the kitchen grounds!" Elesis giggled, extending a hand over for Ghast, and one for Hanno, wiggling her fingers expectantly. "Leaveth't to me to drag thee both if 't be true thy feet shall slow thee down."

Hanno rose an eyebrow, handwaving. "You don't get on my way, Lassie. We fought together, we braved through danger together, and so, we will keep going." He reassured, not wanting a fellow Lion to feel like they didn't belong in the vanguard, next to him.

A half chuckle then escaped his lips, and he shrugged. "Of course I dare her, she has never proved anything to me. So I doubt she will now."

"Wh- What?!"

"You heard me." He shrugged again, forking his food and biting it, only avoiding retaliation from Ghast because Elesis spoke up about going ahead with what they had planned for the day, which excited the fake faerin.

"Do it, do it! Hurry already, Futaba! You are too slow!"

"I won't have a stomachache because of you." Hanno smirked at the fake faerin, only slowing down his eating more, just to tease her.

Ghast whined, which prompted Hanno to laugh, and eventually hurry up. "Alright, alright-"

As he finished it, he patted his belly twice, looking up at @Elesis Blackstone with a satisfied expression, and a lazy smile on his lips. "So, lead the way, Lassie." He rested his hands on his hips, waiting for his friend to get going with the path to the cooking battle they would have to face.

Elesis shook her head as she smiled at his unsurprising yet heartwarming answer. "Thanks Captain. Fret not, i'll at each moment square side by side with thee, but if 't be true distance suits me better I just might. Alloweths thee to dispatch justice on the wicked with nay fear of striking me by accident." She explained, considering the practical aspects of fighting at separate ranges meant Hanno and Ghast could work best with less friendlies on the way, giving how much of a one-man-army Futaba could be, as these goblins found out last time.

The exchange between Hanno and Ghast brought nostalgia to her eyes, reminders of her own cousins who would bicker in a very similar manner, made harder to avoid comparing them when both Faerin looked very similar to one another, to a certain extent.

"We art hath built different, aye. Hardly possible to compare thy ability to devour a meal and the captain's. We mortals consume our meals slower." She explained to Ghast, yet even she could tell Hanno just wanted to get a reaction out of the poor otherworldly being, case on point when she whined and the faerin complied.

It almost made her want to call out Ghast for what she's acting like, but would she eat her if called 'Hanno's Little Sister'..? Unlikely, but the last thing she wanted is to possibly infuriate the shield that protected her, or worse, offend the Lion Captain himself.

At his command, Elesis spun on her heel, swaying her tail from side to side as she directed the party towards the kitchen. Just past the double doors, one could see how different the architecture was: The floor tiles almost ressembled a classic Starcalled restaurant with it's chess board like style, even if painted hardwood flooring doesn't ressemble the ceramic used in it's real counterpart. Still, mixtures of Lander and Starcalled aesthetics can be found on the extensive kitchen. From the hanging utensils to the equivalent of a 'storage area' for non perishables and recently bought ingredients waiting to be put to use.

The layout was rectangular, surrounding a large cauldron at the center that rests above an unlit fire, with two ancient (by their standards) ovens faced opposite of one another. A few windows were left open as to ventilate the room better, yet one could tell it gets quite heated up inside this room, like in most kitchens, hence the considerable distance between the storage room and the kitchen requiring a corridor and a separate set of doors to reach.

Elesis clapped her hands together, turning around to face them both, backpedaling to save some time. "Aaalright! I'll start by getting us some ingredients, then we can decideth what to cook. Cometh, i'll showeth thee both so thee knoweth if 't be true i'm busy." She turned around, eyes wide as a yelp escaped her mouth the moment she bumped her leg against the cauldron and stumbled away on one leg, almost knocking it off on the process. "AaaaAHa- Sorry!" Dropping her act for a second, panic forced her to clear her throat, making her step away faster and faster towards the storage room.

Within, one could find a far more modest room with many ingredients stashed within sacks and crates alike, most with their lids open, aswell as some barrels filled with water. Somehow, this room was fresher than the rest they had stumbled into.

"Alloweth me to findeth out who is't shall winneth. Lady Ghast versus Captain Futaba. Let's goth!"

Cycle 0 - Cooking Time Mechanics

To prepare for the festival, we need food. For food, we need ingredients.

Every Cycle you may choose to use a Main Action to cook a set of meals of varying complexities (Stating which type is used on the roll). The more complex the meal is, the more points you score towards the objective:
  • Simple Meals: Cost 10 Ingredients and grant +1 to the Objective
  • Homechef Meals: Cost 20 Ingredients and grant +2 to the Objective
  • Pro Chef Meals: Cost 30 Ingredients and grant +3 to the Objective.
To gather Ingredients, use a main action to roll a 3d20 + 10, with every 20 points on your Base Fortitude granting an extra 1d20.

@Hanno Futaba, being an experienced chef, uses 5 less ingredients for any kind of meal he makes. He can also make use of Ghast and, as a Bonus Action, send her to gather ingredients at a flat 2d20.

Hanno's Challenge:
Once food is prepared, the aroma will become increasingly tempting to @Ghast. Every Cycle (starting on Cycle 1) she must roll a DC 50 Will Save to resist the temptation using Hanno's Will modifier. Ghast's excitement grants her Advantage against this save and can choose to Auto-Succeed on a failure a total of 4 times. Every point on the Objective rises the DC by 5.

"Nice! This place has everything we need!" Hanno beamed at the kitchen, that wasn't the most equipped kitchen he has ever been, but honestly considering it was a tavern, he was expecting something far more crude.

Seeing the squire bumping on the cauldron, Hanno tried to quickly reach to her, laughing in the process -"Bwahahahaha, be careful, Lassie. We need you to cook too! This isn't only between me and Ghast." He grinned, looking at @Elesis Blackstone, who had nearly found a way to the floor.

"Alright, as we know, preparation is key. We shouldn't bother about picking up ingredients while we are cooking. We need to deal with it right now, so we can cook with our minds free to focus only on cooking the best meal we can do, gotcha? Takin' notes, Lassie? Ghast?" Hanno spoke, preparing the untensils and placing them on the kitchen's counter, casting a gaze at the two girls (?), and one of them was already sneaking into the ingredients-

"Yes!"

"Nice, now take this carrot out of your mouth and let's start preparing it." Hanno said, grinning. "Ghast, toss me all the ingredients you find, I will get them ready!" He picked up a cleaver with a hand and a knife with another.

"Got it, here goes nothing!"

Reaching her hands into the ingredient crates, Ghast began tossing everything over her shoulders, toward Hanno, that swiftly started working on them-

"ORAH ORAH ORAH ORAH ORAH ORAH ORAH!"

As if it was a live action of Fruit Ninja, Hanno's arms were blurry. One would almost think that he had Slash Weapons Mastery, but the truth was that it was pure gastronomy passion.

"OLAH OLAH OLAH OLAH OLAH OLAH OLAH!"

Excited, Ghast followed along, throwing the ingredients quicker.

"ORAH ORAH ORAH ORAH ORAH ORAH ORAH ORAH ORAH ORAH ORAH ORAH ORAH ORAH ORAH!"

Hanno rushed his pace, trying to keep up-

"OLAH OLAH OLAH OLAH OLAH OLAH OLAH OLAH OLAH OLAH OLAH OLAH OLAH!"

And the ingredients only came quicker and quicker, and then--

"There we go!" Hanno grinned, with carrots, onions, potatoes, meat, everything sliced and diced, organized perfectly. It was a lot of work, but they had managed it.

Ghast approached to the ingredients, licking her lips with a tongue that resembled a tentacle, but Hanno pushed her forehead away. "Alright, Lassie. Time to cook." He smirked.

The fox yelped, shooking her head rapidly as Hanno assisted on keeping her feet on the floor and not scattered across it "Aha, saved again by thee, Captain. But speaketh not such non sense for I, Elesis Blackstone, would nev'r abandon mine own duties!" Elesis beamed, bowing her head gratefully to Hanno.

As the faerin gave his first lesson for free, Elesis found herself nodding with a hand on her chin and a knuckle against her lips, all until he mentioned 'taking notes', gasping as her hands begun to pat around every pocket she could feel on her body. "A-ah captain, i has't not a notepad f'r this! Doth these coequal exist within this reality of ou- HEY!" She exclaimed at the top of her lungs, every hair on her tail springing up as she pointed a finger straight back to the fake Faerin.

Hanno addressing the situation made her exhale a deep sigh, as if a year or two of her life were lost just watching Ghast -almost- contaminate the goodies, opening her eyes curiously as he commanded for Ghast to use him as target practice for every projectile the shield girl could find that fits the criteria of ingredient, her jaw almost reaching the floor as she watched Hanno cut through them like out of one of her mangas.

"W-Woah! What?!" Elesis rushed in once the slice & dice QTE ended, peering over every neat little ingredient proportionally cut into adequate sizes. By now her jaw had gone sore from hanging open as she kept peeking back and forth between the duo and the goodies. "D'Vangelline's TITS! Whither didst thee learneth yond, captain?!" Her thirst for the sacred knowledge Hanno had almost made her forget their duties, yet even as she tried to put her mind back into their cooking, it certainly wasn't as easy as she wished it to be.

But the simplicity brought a lightbulb to her head, eyes sparking like star fields... "Ah, I know! Captain, I got an idea!" Unaware her real voice begun to show, Elesis hurried over to the cauldron and begun to lit the fires underneath, swinging from one side of the kitchen to another to fill it with water to let it rest.

"How about we prepare some meat or chicken sandwiches? We offer different sauces, and so the people in the festival can eat while enjoyning it's activities." She puffed her chest, yet the time for pride was cut thin as the fox scrambled across the drawers to find a whisk, a bowl and a large measuring cup. "Do we have mustard? Ghast, werequiretheetofindussomemustard, if such exists here!" Her mouth unconciously sped up as she pulled pepper and salt and slid them over one of the tables. Most of the spices were placed on jars within the drawers, and so finding garlic powder, peppers and red pepper flakes was all a matter of peeking through jars over jars. Including the very viscous molasses.

"I'm not sure how long to leave it simmer once I do, but mom used to do it all the time sooo. H ow hard can it be? I'd bet thirty minutes or fourty." She smirked back at Hanno as she begun to pour everything into the bowl to whisk at. "What you think, Captain?"

At @Elesis Blackstone grateful words and bow, Hanno smiled. "Of course, Lassie." He thumbed up, always ready to give a hand to a friend if they needed, especially if one of them was his squire.

When the squire seemed very impressed by the ingredient preparation, Hanno puffed his chest a bit, smirking. -"Y'know, it is all about experience. I'm sure you will be able to- Wait, who's tits?!" His jaw dropped for a moment, but his lips sealed and he shook his head, deciding to push that sentence out of his mind before he focused on Elesis' idea for a recipe.

Sandwiches.

Simple, tasty, and very effective. There was very little wrong that could happen, so Hanno simply nodded.

"Sandwiches!"

"I like that. Sandwiches are the perfect choice, I would say... But I wouldn't limit us only to mustard! I can think of several types of sauces we could use for it... Like pesto, chipotle mayonnaise, vinaigrette... Even just going for the simple ones, like jams, would work!" Hanno counted each of them with a finger, and Ghast listened to all of it with a watery mouth.

"Aaahhhh... I don't know half of these, but they sound so taaaaaaaasty!"

Ghast wiggled, rumbling, making Hanno laugh and shake his finger. "Remember, Ghast. You must behave." He scolded, and the fake faerin shrunk for a moment.

"It is less of how long you will do it, and more of how it feels as you are doing it. Watch it simmer, and poke it a bit." Hanno explained, already picking up ingredients to work on the jams, mostly being berries and other fruits like bananas and apples. "As soon as the consistence feels just like you expect it to be, It means your sauce is good to go." He nodded.

"Cooking may sound like an exact science, since it follows a recipe. But feeling how the food is, makes the difference between just someone cooking a meal, and someone doing a gastronomical art. Filled with passion."

Hanno clenched his fist.

"Heh, yeah it's all aAAaaUUUUUUHHH-" Elesis's cheeks turned as red as the tomatoes Hanno sliced moments earlier as her expression was taken out of context entirely. The embarassment was almost unfathomable, forcing her to babble her way through. Misdirecting it towards the sandwich & sauce talk was her masterful play.

"Yup! Sandwiches!" The fox cheered, finger gun pointed over to Ghast, turning to face the faerin as he begun to list plenty of other options for sauce. The possibilities made her jaw drop and her eyes widen. "Wait, we have all these in this game too?!" Colour her surprised. SO much, Elesis couldn't help but rearrange a few of the ingredients she had near on stock onto a different pot to work on a pesto sauce instead.

"Alright this is great! I think we got everything here for a few more. We can dip meat and chicken on while the sauces simmer and get these cookin' too." She explained, stabbing several slices of meat together and dipping them into one of the pots, the one whose been boiling for quite some time already. "Come on Ghast, we still got a looot to do, don't give up yet." She gave a smile to the eldritch-abomination-beyond-her-comprehension. The smell, albeit heavenly, was probably a torture for poor Ghast given her hunger.

But faith she's got on the underdog, for she was determined to complete the challenge.

The way Hanno explained his style had her staring intently, as this philosophy hit a cord in her mind. She knew this was important, it -felt- important to her given how accurate it depicted her own style outside of the game. "Could you teach me to do it like you do?" She asked earnestly, her tail wagging with the same conviction her voice had. "I mean later, like... I don't know how to cook outside of the books, and sometimes I feel my meals are too bland- T-they don't taste bad!" She rised her voice, not wanting to give him the wrong ideas.

"But I... Uhm, they just feel like they are missing that special something." Something she couldn't quite put in words, and only gesticulate it by rolling her thumbs over her fingers. "A-ah, Ghast, could you go ahead and start cutting bread for the sandwiches?"

Cycle 2 - Cooking Time Mechanics

To prepare for the festival, we need food. For food, we need ingredients.

Every Cycle you may choose to use a Main Action to cook a set of meals of varying complexities (Stating which type is used and the amount of ingredients it costs). The more complex the meal is, the more points you score towards the objective:
  • Simple Meals: Cost 10 (5 to Hanno) Ingredients and grant +1 to the Objective
  • Homechef Meals: Cost 20 (15 to Hanno) Ingredients and grant +2 to the Objective
  • Pro Chef Meals: Cost 30 (25 to Hanno) Ingredients and grant +3 to the Objective.

Every point on the Objective rises the DC by 5 (Currently 55)

"I am not giving up! Let the bread to me!"

Ghast hurried for the breads as Elesis asked, darting away from the very tasty smell that was already making her tremble in desire to devour all the ingreidents they had.

"We have mustard seeds, but it isn't that we have mayonnaise laying around..." Hanno pulled more ingredients closer to a a few bowls, where he carefully distributed them according to what he wished to do. "But rather, we can make them. After all, we just gotta use a recipe from Earth, in Arcia." After getting everything ready, the only thing that halted Hanno from continuing was @Elesis Blackstone request to show her how to do it in his way.

His smile turned a bit calmer and gentler, and he nodded. "Of course, let's do these sauces together, and I will show you." Hanno finished pouring the ingredients on a pot, leaving them to heat while he approached Elesis to see the one she was already working on.

Humming, he looked at the way she placed meat and chicken, and watched the boiling sauce, grabbing a wooden spoon and looking at the squire, carefully using the spoon to test the texture.

"See? It is becoming a bit more... 'Cremier', instead of just solid. And it will get more and more 'liquid', and the important part is... See how it feels as you move it with your spoon. The smell is also nice to pay attention to." Hanno offered the spoon to Elesis. "Try to stir it and see if the consistence feels exactly what you would want... Sometimes, there isn't a wrong or right answer, but just what you intend to do with it."

His index then perked up as he added: "Remember we are making sandwiches, so we can't just make it be too liquid."

As he finished explaining, Ghast appeared with a plate filled with bread.

"Here it is! I managed to not eat any of it! HEH!"

Hanno turned to look at the plate, and yes, nothing was eaten, but... "Uhh-" Hanno frowned as he looked at the bread cut in completely disproportional sizes. Some loaves were thin, others were thick, some even varied in width.

"Yeah. Good job." Hanno chuckled.

Elesis giggled as she watched the little gremlin dart away, turning to face Hanno once she was far away enough. "That should entertain her for a little." She winked back at him, returning a smile of her own as he begun to prepare one of the many sauces he listed, her eyes leaving the pot to dart over to his hands as he dumped the ingredients, then back to the simmering sauces.

"It's very distracting in this game, my nose that is. Everything has a stronger scent and it throws me off." Elesis explained, stretching her hand out for the spoon as she begun to slowly woosh it all over the surface of the sauce, paying mind to it's resistance against it's motions. "Just a little more I think. It should be a bit viscous for a sandwich sooo..."

Her words trailed off, lips pursed as she paid a glance back to the faerin, then to his own pot. "So, w-where did you learn to cook?" oh god i'm lying. Just keeping eyecontact with Hanno at that point felt tortureous, draining all the chivalrious spirit out of her body. Of course she knew... This was the kind cook she always saw at least once every morning. It would be difficult to miss him, if his character's name wasn't obvious enough, given that calmness and passion with which he carries himself around.

The bell saved them, or in this case, the little monster did once she showed up with the most abstract designs for sandwiches she could ever come up with, a tender smile plastering over her lips at the attempt. "That's pretty nice, how about we cut some together? Captain Futaba here shown me a few of his special bread-cutting techniques before." She leaned closer to Ghast, side-eyeing Hanno as she plotted in whispers with the fake faerin.

"Don't tell him I'm teaching you though, It's a secret..." Elesis added, one hand on her own knee and another offered to Ghast, as to guide her over to one of the counters and start preparing actual bread for sandwiches, rather than the mathematic trapezoids the abomination was so proud of. "Once they are all done, we gonna use your bread and Hanno's to test them out, and you tell us which tastes better as a sandwich... But only after we are finished here!" Of course that would go without a say, despite the intrigue she tried to display in her voice.

The arrangement would be completely different between a proper sandwich and some Pythagorean Theorem looking bread.

Hanno pondered about @Elesis Blackstone's trouble regarding her enhanced smell disrupting her attention when cooking. "That sounds troublesome... Especially if you are handling something like an onion, or fish, I suppose... I wonder if we can find a way to make it more bearable." He casted a glance at the simmering sauce, and the consistence the squire tested it.

"Sounds like a right call. You don't need to wait too much though." He adviced, pausing for a moment when she delivered a question, followed by a very embarrassed reaction that caught Hanno off guard.

"Well, my mother taught me the basics. I've always loved her cooking, and watching her doing it was really nice. It was quite fun... I tried to learn a lot by myself, and eventually I decided to go study in a gastronomy course." Hanno's lips perked up slightly at the fond memories. "Man... When I first got into Terrasphere I was still halfway through... But everything went fine, and yeah." He chuckled.

"I loved how it all went. I get to cook to people that I like every day, both in here, and out there!" He grinned widely, turning to look at the pot that had a Ghast looming over it.

He paused, looking at the fake faerin for a couple seconds, noticing her drooling and licking her lips until she noticed him.

"Uh- Uhmm! It looks ready to me!"

She backed off, letting out a giggle that distorted at the end, resting her hands behind her back before turning her attention to Elesis, beaming.

"A special technique? I could make use of that-"

"Sure, sure. You go, the two of you." Hanno allowed them to take their time to finish their bread, while taking care of the sauces... and as soon as they seemed to be in a good spot, he turned to them.

"How is the bread? I think we can start to get the sandwiches ready!"
