Kyra

Kyra stepped back as she looked over the poster that she's managed to - after some difficult - stick up against the wall of the small shop that had provided her permission. The poster itself was simple, a small call for help on a research project that she had taken upon herself after having joined the Magical Institute of Theory.

Requesting Research Assitants

To any who are reading this;

Hello! My name is Kyra, and I've recently started working on a research project that incorporates the arts of healing, with some less than popular magical capabilities. If you're interested in providing your support - which means acting as both assistant, and as required test subject - please come visit me in the basement of the local bakery shop! I've managed to acquire some workspace there, and although we need to make sure to keep it clean and tidy, we'll be allowed to work here for the next few weeks!

I look forward to working with any who are available, and enthusiastic!

Kyra Vashtana
P.S. No one will be permanently hurt during this project, and it is as safe as a research project can be!

She stood for a moment, glancing over the poster and making sure that it was properly displayed, as well as well written. She wasn't sure if it would be enough to pull anyone in, but she was hopeful. Worst comes to worst, she could do the entire project by herself.

"It's just easier, and more fun to work with a partner. Plus, then you see ideas that you'd normally miss."

She nodded to herself, before turning to look over the small hamlet of Honeyhome. The area was as it ever was; calm and peaceful, undisturbed by the chaos of the rest of the world. It truly was a nice little place, and she could understand why so many liked it here.

How should one ever strive to learn anything without a guiding hand?

Past her initial excitement upon entering Terrasphere for the first time, she had failed to acquire a mentor to teach her the ropes of this world. She had even failed to strike up a conversation with fellow players, as she seemed to have arrived later than most Starcalled did. Players had already gathered groups for themselves, content to keep to friendships forged through hardships endured prior to her joining.

It mattered little, in the grand scheme of things. If she couldn't convince a player to share a semblance of their wisdom with her, anything to begin her collection of the mysteries Arcia had to offer, then performing quests for Landers in need and asking for information as her reward would suffice.

"Oh? And then what happened?" The elf was engaged in conversation already with a local shopkeep, who did their best to split their attention between their clientele and the pink-haired woman pressing her for questions that ultimately amounted to little else than local gossip. Mid-sentence, and out of the corner of her eye, Rael spotted someone putting up a poster for a project.

Silently, she approached it only after the player had left it in place, examining the paper with an ever-growing gleam in her eyes as she finally found what she had been looking for. This could be it! Finally, maybe this Kyra would be willing to teach me?

Unable to contain her excitement, she bounced on the tip of her toes, a fit of giggles escaping her until she saw a few Landers looking at her with a puzzled expression on their faces, thus forcing her to quickly compose herself by clearing her throat. Soon after, she followed the one responsible for the posters, catching up with her in but a few moments.

"Greetings, Miss," Rael said, her voice polite with an equally kind smile pulling upwards at the corners of her mouth. In her hand, she held a poster torn from the place it had been posted up at. "Miss Kyra, I take it? Or perhaps one of the people she employs for her research?"

She'd made it only a few metres away, before a voice spoke from behind her. Kyra swivelled on her heals, catching sight of a flash of pink before having the poster she had just managed to get up on the wall shoved into her view. She felt a moment of irritation, before her eyes refocused on the individual holding the poster itself.

"Uh...Kyra, yes. I had permission to put that up. I spoke with the storeowner and everything, just to make sure that it was okay to post it."

She cocked her head, taking in the appearance of the other for the first time. There wasn't any sort of anger, or accusatory look on the face of the girl. Kyra wondered if she had misunderstand the intentions of the other, automatically assuming the worst. Pushing aside her frustration with the poster, she decided to investigate slightly.

"Sorry...that was rude. Is there uh...something I can help you with?"

Suddenly a thought occurred to her, and she felt the embarassment wash over her as the realisation slowly settled in. Trying to supress the soft blush that had begun to spread across her face, Kyra mumbled the question that had arisen in her mind suddenly.

"Uh...are you looking to assist with the research project? I...this is the first time I've done this, sorry. I've never actually run a project like this before so I kind of assumed you were...well, anyways. If you're interested I could tell you more about it."

She felt her own excitement growing - she hadn't considered anyone actually being interested in helping, but perhaps she'd found the one person wo shared her interest. She waited, patiently, for a response from the other, her excitement growing with each passing second.

"You are her?" Something akin to joy bubbled in her chest but for a split second, an emotion that she didn't have the chance to fully express before the lightest glimpse of the beastfolk's face, paired with her tone, alerted her to some manner of displeasure brewing.

Unaware of the reason, Rael felt herself become smaller in the presence of the shorter player, bringing the poster up to her face so as to obscure half of her face with it. Color bloomed to life over her cheeks, a pink that could match the hue of her hair quickly spreading over the bridge of her nose and the tip of her pointed ears.

"Please, there is no need for apologies. I realize I wasn't as clear as I could've been," Rael put out a hand as if to stop Kyra, but failed in her attempt to do so by cracking a small chuckle at the realization that both of them were now blushing. And also both had their own ways of trying to hide it, with varying degrees of success.

"The project..?" Rael asked, momentarily taken aback. Without a need for it, she folded the poster neatly and tucked it into a pocket of her attire, joining her hands together in front of herself. "Oh, this! Yes, yes. I believe I would make a good fit for an assistant, if you would have me, that is! I do have an interest in the healing arts."

"I wasn't aware that the game was so in-depth that things such as research would be available..." Almost as if mirroring Kyra's excitement, she only seemed to grow brighter and brighter at the opportunity to share her musings with another soul. "What is it you are planning to do, if you don't mind my asking?"

Her excitement grew. Not only was the other girl clearly interested in volunteering as an assistant, but they were interested in healing magic as well. She couldn't help but become estatic at the entire situation; she'd never expected to find anyone interested in the research of healing properties - let alone mere moments after she'd hung the poster.

In the midst of her excitement, another thought occurred to her. The girl had mentioned that they weren't aware of how in-depth the game itself could be. Kyra found herself wondering, her mind racing through the possibilities, before deciding it was simply easier to ask the other for confirmation.

"Oh...are you new to the game? I'm only asking because you seemed surprised by how...well, 'in-depth' the game was. Which...no offence, but it's something that most new players are always shocked with. Although, even some veteran players feel that surprise sometimes. But I think for the most part you do eventually get used to it, mostly. It's not a bad thing, I'm just wondering - because I could definitely show you a few things if you are new! I mean, you may know some of them, but..."

She gave a shrug as she smiled sheepishly, suddenly realising that she might be insulting the other. Maybe they were already familiar with the game itself, but hadn't come across the fact that there was research projects, or the MIT. Although that seemed a bit of a stretch, realistically. Anyone who'd been involved with the game must have some sort of idea about either of those, unless they were entirely oblivious to the social aspects of the game itself. Which is entirely possible. Don't make assumptions.

"As to the research project...well, I'm looking into whether a certain taboo magic could be used to properly heal individuals, and whether or not it could be effective in providing further support into surgeries, intensive measures or other benefits in the medical field. Essentially..."

She glanced around before leaning in closer to the other, her voice dropping to a whisper as she continued speaking excitedly.

"...I'm taking a look to see if hemomancy - blood magic - could be used in order to conduct certain medical procedures in world that would otherwise be highly invasive. A lot of people - Landers, mostly - pass away because the surgeries go wrong, or the surgery couldn't be conducted fast enough due to concerns of sanitation, transportation, whatever else. So I want to see if hemomancy could be used as a stop gap, or an entire fix. Imagine being able to use magical energies created from blood, in order to heal internal bleeding, or properly mend a broken bone by forcing the blood to swell and push it back into place, or maybe resolve cholesterol issues!"

Her voice had started to rise slightly as she continued, her body literally bounding with excitement as she considered all the possibilities. Atop her head, her ears twitched as if bothered by thousands of little bugs, the tail behind her swishing back and forth madly.

"I have this hypothesis that you could...essentially use your own blood as...like nano-machines. Search out the problems within the body, and if possible fix them with hemomancy, or maybe just locate the issue and then heal it with other means. But it would essentially be like...conducting a semi-surgery without needing to actually fully open up a person. It would be a huge benefit to the medical community!"

"Me? Oh... I didn't mean to deceive you, but I am indeed new to Terrasphere. Would that be a problem? I-I assure you, I learn quite fast and I do desire to help you." Just when Rael was about to think Kyra would scold her for unintentionally hiding her status as a new player, the woman not only did exactly the opposite, an evident warmth to her mannerisms the longer she spoke; but she offered to teach beyond her the ropes.

Rael's posture relaxed then. How could it not, faced with such amicable company? Even the smile, once hesitant and somewhat nervous at its edges, was a contagious occurrence. Ah, but to the heart of the matter for which the two of them had initially met.

"Hemomancy, is it? Well, that is quite the theory you have there, uhm..." The elf, leaning closer, dropped her voice until it was barely more than the passing hush of a gentle breeze. While she wasn't acquainted with the particular ideologies dominating the Landers' thoughts on magic theory, it couldn't hurt to follow the initiative of someone more experienced than herself.

She fell quiet, allowing for Kyra to explain her thoughts in better detail, and she, like a perfect would-be assistant, nodded or hummed every once in a while as she took the information in. "Right, right. Oh! Out in the real world, doctors usually lose quite a bit of time they could otherwise spend performing the needed surgeries because of how difficult it often is to find a compatible blood type to that of the person laying on the operating table."

She touched a finger to her lips, more to remind herself to keep quiet in the presence of passersby than to help formulate thoughts, but it was clear from her want to engage in the healer's research that she was more than enthusiastic to begin.

"None of us were asked to pick a blood type for such an in-depth character creator, were we? Assuming that this was deliberately done, then it stands to reason that all Starcalled share a universal blood type. Furthermore, the possibility of Landers sharing this property might not be as farfetched as one would imagine if we were out in the real world."

"Without concerns such as differing blood types, surgeries could be achieved much faster! And should your bloodwork nano-machines work, then perhaps something as wild as surgical operations in the midst of the battlefield could be possible!"

Her eyes fell, at last, on the one who had ignited the spark of excitement with an idea to improve the living conditions for people within the world itself. Were it not for the attention it would attract to the pair, she probably would've been clapping and all.

"Fascinating, Miss Kyra. Utterly fascinating."

This one was smart. Not just smart, but intuitive. Able to take minor concepts and follow threads and ideas that Kyra had been thinking about, considering, for some time now. She felt herself smile, both internally and externally, as the other continued their hyposis - announcing aloud everything that Kyra had kept in the back of her mind, considering the implications, the possibilities, and even the drawbacks of it all.

"Exactly. Imagine being on the battlefield, you're bleeding out internally - how would your healer know what to heal? Sure, they could do a generic cover-all heal, but what if that missed something? What if - and you have to take the realism of the game into account for this - what if you're healed up, your health points restored, but there's a constant, slow damage over time affect that you just can't figure out? Or perhaps - and this one focuses more on Landers - you find a Lander who has some sort of internal complication? Sure, there's things like Spirit magic to despell away the issue, for the time being. But who's to say that clearly gets rid of it? We don't normally come back in a day, a week, a month to see. Most Starcalled just...up and away, once the work is done."

She was losing herself to theories now, the excitement spreading between the two almost to the point that Kyra would've been happy to stand in the middle of the street the entire day and discuss possibilities. Alas, she knew that she needed to steer them back towards the actual work, otherwise all of this would simply remain as nothing more than theories - ideas passed between lips without any actual implementation.

"Which is why I'm looking to test these theories. Here, come on, my borrowed work area is over this way."

She turned and led the way - stopping to make sure the other was following before continuing on - towards the small bakery. She felt herself suddenly become embarrassed as they came upon the small place, turning to smile sheepishly at the other.

"It's not much...but they're allowing me to use the basement for the time being for my research. It's a big enough space, well lit and decently ventilated. And no cost. Which is always a plus!"

She skipped over to the small stairway that led below the bakery itself, pausing to hold the door open for the other before sliding in and closing it shut herself. She glanced around the area again - a set of shelves on the far side of an otherwise spacious open area, a few small windows allowing sunlight to filter in. The area was cool from the concrete that surrounded them, but otherwise bland; perfect for what Kyra had in mind.

"Like I said, nothing special. But definitely perfect for what we need. So, this part I uh...I haven't really practiced all that much. I mean I've used hemomancy before. I uh...kind of drained a horse of all its blood. Immediately. But I won't do that to you! We just...well, we just need to practice controlling it for a bit, and then eventually figuring out the best way to...err...insert it into others, so that it can provide feedback."

Suddenly, she realised what she was suggesting, and she wondered if it was too much. How many other Starcalled would willingly let someone else imbue their taboo magic upon them?

"The key thing is going to be safety. We can't have anyone getting seriously hurt, or dying after all. Especially not dying, that would be horrible. So for now, let's work on methods to focus on controlling the hemomancy. Which I think is where you can come in to start with - I know you're new, but that's what makes this perfect. You've limited experience with the magics here, right? I've gotten used to the feedbacks, the feelings of it...but if we run some ideas off one another, you may notice something I don't about it."

It was a long shot - Kyra was confident and capable with her magics, but she was also aware that she'd become too comfortable with them. She no longer monitored each and every aspect of the feelings when she cast, and it was entirely plausible that she was missing something, some fine detail that would allow her to use the hemomancy spells more effectively.

"There's certainly a lot to take into consideration when such grandiose plans might be put in motion under such strenuous circumstances, for example..."

Between the back and forth of their shared theories and ideas, and the fluttering feeling somewhere within her chest whenever Kyra regaled her with a token of appreciation for the exchange, Rael had barely realized the pair had yet to move from their location. Why, she was about to speak another sentence into being when the beastfolk motioned for her to follow, even going as far as to check if the elf had stayed behind.

Could she be so obvious?

Rapidly taken steps fell into rhythm with Kyra's own, the elf having grown quieter herself after the invitation into the laboratory was made. For one, she didn't have it in her to judge anyone's choice of dwelling when Player Housing wasn't something available to the Starcalled, a great oversight made by the people in charge, no doubt.

"With your permission," Rael bowed her head as the door was held open for her, and strode into the unfamiliar room with the determination to fulfill her self-assigned task of helping with the healer's endeavors. "Do not feel like you need to impress me with... However this should be supposed to look. I think it's rather fun to imagine that the space might slowly fill up with proof of your work, Miss Kyra."

There was a moment of hesitation that flickered wildly in her eyes at the beginning of the explanation of the experiment, interchanged by shock at the mention of the horse, until it finally settled on confusion. She might've offered a solution of her own to the small predicament that came with magical experimentation, but she had none to offer, and so she kept quiet.

It hadn't occurred to her to ask what exactly the experiment entailed, caught up as she was in the invigorating exchange. In fact, something at the back of her mind told Rael that if she were to tell another soul of the events that had led her to stand in the middle of this room, she would get a scolding.

The notion disappeared as quickly as it had formed inside her head as soon as she seemed to be asked for input. "You would be correct, I am still trying to acquaint myself with my own abilities. I've been instructed by others I encountered to utilize the Auto Assist mode for the time being..."

She cast her gaze down to the palm of her hand as she brought it in front of herself, the palm menu summoned into view, and soon, her casting implements: a grimoire and a paintbrush. "It seems that the abilities I chose upon entering this world allow me to be in tune with sound, or to make an object appear as something else in its entirety. Would any of that be useful?"

For a moment, Kyra wasn't sure who was the new player here - this pink-haired, obviously enthusiastic individual in front of her, or Kyra herself. She felt herself pause with the confusion as she tried to figure out what the other was talking about, before simply saying it aloud.

"Err...auto-assist? I've never heard of such a thing...although I will admit there's still lots about this game I don't know. And I've never seen instruments used for casting before. But that could simply be because no one I've come across has the...desire? Knack?...whatever you want to call it. A lot of us cast through different methods, I guess. For me, for example, I have to focus on the magical energies, and generally use verbal phrases. Not really command phrases, just..."

She decided that explanation would be better through display, rather than her spoken word. She carefully ran her hand along the blade of the scythe at her hip, causing a small line to appear on the palm before a line of blood began to drip out. Closing her eyes, she began muttering softly to herself, focusing on the magic.

"Blood of my blood...I control thee, come forth a fly."

The blood began to swirl around her, flowing in a path that seemed to lead to an infinite spiral. At the same time, she focused on her Spirit Magic, closing over the wound in her hand so that only the small line of blood flowed around her body. Opening her eyes, she smiled, watching the thin line pass in front of her.

"The phrasing changes...depending on my mood, and mindset, I guess. But it's whatever comes natural. And sometimes there's hand motions...really depends on the moment, I guess. But I think the system is intuitive like that..."

She glanced at the line in front of her again, not wanting to waste it. But unsure yet as to how to best proceed with the experiment.

"I think...to begin with, we should focus on external connections of the blood. So to speak. I don't want to...err...inject you, yet. That may cause problems later on down the road. Plus...horse."

She shivered as she mentioned the animal in question, the memories lying at the edge of her mind's eye. She pushed them away, not wanting to engage with them right now. That was a problem for another time, for now she needed to focus.

"Perhaps we should...make contact outside of our bodies, so to speak."

She looked around for anything that could be used as a container, moving across the basement as she searched.

Rael's gaze flickered towards the basement's entry at the display of power that was to control the flow of one's blood with as much ease as they breathed, concerned not for her own wellbeing in the stranger's company, but for the possibility that the Lander that resided upstairs to suddenly come knocking. Pointed ears, less sensitive than those of beastfolk, yet perceptive all the same, heard no indication of the sort, allowing for her to relax and return to her observation of this taboo magic.

"As experienced as you appear, I'm not at all surprised that a training tool escaped your notice. Quite the natural, you must've been." Were it any other person, the intention behind her words could've easily been mistaken as a jab meant to cast doubt over her would-be mentor's knowledge.

Rael, however, simply delighted herself in knowing one of her first encounters in the game had been so fortuitous as to lead her to meet the hemomancer. Why waste breath pretending such wasn't the case? "The Auto Assist feature is one setting we have access to through the use of our UI. It limits functionality of one's body in exchange for cues that one might use to better cast what they intend. All you have to do is declare the intention, and you will be compelled to go through the motions to make it happen."

A weapon was the tool through which magic became a reality, though she had to wonder if its sharpened blade was for more than to discourage any potential threats from pursuing her.

"T-that would be preferable, yes." Her eyes slid over the shelves at a far wall Kyra wasn't inspecting at the moment, footsteps drawing closer to the furniture so she could aid in the search of proper tools for their intended plans.

"Testing it outside of our bodies... Ah, that'd be beneficial in testing the extent of our earlier theory about differing blood types." She spoke with her back turned to the other, fingers hovering mid-air as she on-and-off touched objects laid at her disposition. Her hand closed in around an empty, uncorked vial that she then presented to her.

"Might this serve us for the purposes of observation?"

Kyra's eyes flitted over to the other individual - a shimmer of red blocking her view for a brief second before moving on. She saw the small container in the other's hand, some sort of vial that appeared barely larger than the palm.

"I think that should work...now we just need to...uhm, mix...the two blood streams. Which means we need to procure your own sample..."

She stopped suddenly, realising the problem that hadn't been considered before hand. It was easy enough for Kyra to produce her own blood - she'd become numb to the sensation of slicing open, and then closing over her own hand. But to offer to do that to another...

"We...we just need to uhm...I didn't bring a syringe. That probably would've been helpful, wouldn't it?"

Her face shimmered with the mixture of embarrassment at her sudden unpreparedness, as well as the blood that still circled around her body, a spiral of fluid that reflected the light in an almost eye-catching way. She paused for a moment, before considering the possible options.

"Err...I mean we could cut your hand...like I do. I can heal it afterwards, just to drip a bit out into the vial. We shouldn't need much. I think..."

She gave a sheepish smile and a shrug. She was definitely making a great impression in the moment, likely coming across as a completely aloof ditz who didn't plan for the experiment that she was running. Great impression.Really well done.

Where Kyra thought Rael might think her unprofessional for her lack of equipment, the elf only saw the initial stages of a project meant for the betterment of Landers and Starcalled alike. Without the sponsorship of some wealthier individual, it was a wonder that an adventurer had found somewhere to practice and experiment to her heart's content, and all thanks to the kindness of another.

"It would be rather impolite of me to touch your weaponry, Miss Kyra... Allow me, if you would, some practice."

With nary a second thought, she began her work. Strokes of paint upon paper painted the picture of her very own hand in very loose detail, words strung together in a rhyme rolled softly from her tongue, speaking an incantation to make ink come to life with a subtle glow catching on the never-ending stream of color bursting from it

"Though they have lain for ages, beneath the changeless flood,
They shall be white as silver, but one shall be like blood."

Incantation woven through rhyme complete, she let out a small hiss as she painted a line across the palm drawn on paper, a clean cut now appearing over her left hand as she retracted it from its place underneath the grimoire. She held out her hand, palm turned upwards, reaching out to the one who held the vial in hand.

"I-I'll take that healing, but for now, here: the sample you requested."

"That...was interesting. To say the least. Here, let me..."

She reached forward, careful not to break the flow of her own blood - she wanted to keep that untainted for the time being, as well as far away from her new assistant's physical form. Best not to accidentally interject them into an experiment meant for much further down the line...

She placed her hand above Rael's own, closing her eyes as she began to mutter. She summoned forth the Spirit Magic, carefully closing over the wound so that it would leave no scarring. It was a basic cut, clean, almost precision like in its severing. Easy enough to close over, but also leaving her impressed. She made a mental note to ask about it at a later time.

"There...that should feel better in a second. Now...let's see how this goes..."

She placed the vial on the ground between the two of them, glancing at Rael before directing her attention to the trial at hand. Right now, she just needed to see if it made any connection, anything at all. Her focus on the combination required, she adjusted her hemomancy, sending the blood flowing towards the vial carefully, before watching as it slithered in through the open top.

There was a brief pause, before the two liquids met - her own consuming the blood of her assistant in an almost smooth transition. Kyra bit her lip as she focused on the return information, her eyes going wide as her mind was suddenly swamped with information, her breath coming fast.

"Oh...oh my. I'd...call this a success. Wow. Uhm...book, I need..."

She scrambled about for the purple leather-bound journal, scribbling the moment she got it open, a frown crossing her face as she rushed to remember everything she'd just seen.

Her fingertips hovered over the shimmering light that coated the self-inflicted wound at Kyra's behest, the minimal amount of pain suffered subsiding as quickly as it had appeared. Unable to help herself, Rael's lips parted with a little "wow" that escaped them, fascinated by someone else's control.

"Oh," she cleared her throat, color quickly taking to her cheeks yet again, "Thank you, it does feel better."

Was it her lack of magical aptitude, her inability to comprehend the particular magic that Kyra herself manipulated, or a mixture of both that kept Rael from understanding the experiment unfolding in front of her? The droplet of her blood was overcome instantly by Kyra's, and the beastfolk seemed to feel something different for it judging by her reaction, but Rael herself felt nothing.

With the mention of a book, the elf turned to the shelves and began looking around for the object in question, though vague in its description as it was, there was little room for the inexperienced assistant to get it right. So, she came back to the researcher with a few items piled onto her arms, perhaps not all of them useful... Only to find Kyra had already procured one of her own.

"Did you achieve it? The result you were hoping for, I mean. If so... What happens now?"

Her eyes barely left the journal she was writing in as Rael stepped up in front of her, her arms filled with tomes that clearly were meant to be helpful. A smile spread across Kyra's face - one not of sarcastic nature, but instead of happiness, and a bit of amusement at the other girl's enthusiasm to assist. The girl was clearly here to help, and wanted to get everything right, something that Kyra could appreciate.

"I...may have. I'm not sure. There was a flash, as if I saw something...but the image wasn't clear. I did get a feeling though. Something...familiar. It...well, it's going to take some time to decompress and consider...but I think this first attempt was successful!"

She beamed a smile at her assistant, amazed that things had worked so perfectly on their very first attempt. It was beyond what she could've expected, and a part of her wanted to rush to try it again. Don't push yourself, otherwise you'll end up making mistakes...

"Honestly...this went way better than I could've anticipated. I think we had a wonderful first attempt...which, considering I was expecting this to completely fail outright...well...like I said, there's a lot to decompress here, to consider and factor in...but I think overall we can mark it as a grand success!"

The beastfolk hadn't chastised her for the eagerness with which she had hastily tried to produce just what Kyra had needed, hadn't scolded or humiliated her for the lapse in judgment. Rather than ask, she acted, now holding the results of that action in her hands as the compiled weight of the tomes made her body stumble a step back and another forth.

"O-oh! That's good news, then!" Rael beamed beatifically at the woman, stumbling forth yet again with enough force that she might've actually dropped everything had she not turned on her heels at the very last moment to lay against a nearby pillar. "I should... I should probably..."

As quickly as she had gathered the unnecessary tomes for their investigation, she put them back in their respective places, careful not to disturb the researcher or her work area in the process.

"We should write of it," Rael offered as she finished putting the books back where they belonged. "Write what you achieved, what you saw and felt. If your method becomes popular enough, other people will want to know how to do it, and better to have it written now than let someone else steal your idea. So... Shall we?"

Kyra paused as she considered the girl's suggestion. Writing of it would provide guidance to others, should they attempt it. The question was...Do we want people attempting it...? She wasn't sure, considering how new the technique was. Publishing it was sure to give them credit for the discovery - not that it was a huge concern for Kyra. The concern, was that she felt like the finding was only the beginning in a collection of research that needed to be done.

I...I don't know if we should publish anything yet. Note everything that happened, for sure...but we've just scratched the surface of what this could mean...what this could provide. Maybe...maybe let's hold off on going public, for now. We want to refine this...make sure that it can't be abused, or used incorrectly, before we offer it to the public.

Or at least have some sort of control in place, before we make it public knowledge... She didn't add that part aloud, preferring to instead remain focused on the positive aspects of their find. Besides...maybe there's nothing to worry about at all. Maybe people will use this only for...yeah, right...

For now, I think the best thing is just to note everything from today, take some time to talk it over and consider what we've learnt, and what still needs to be tested...and then maybe do some more experiments. That is, if you're up for more experiments in the future?

It seemed that the initial meaning of her words had led to a misunderstanding, offering a new insight into what could be achieved if they simply followed through with the observations. The elf quickly nodded her head as Kyra spoke about her refusal of the idea of publishing her own research, the downsides, and all that still needed to be done.

"Not publish it outright. It'd be much too soon, on that we can both agree. But sooner or later, people are going to notice someone on the battlefield, with very distinctive characteristics, is using a certain method of healing that no one has attempted before. You said it was... Taboo, yes?"

"Think of it this way."
In succession, Rael pointed to each of the instruments that had been used in the making of the experiment: the vial, the weapons that Kyra was able to control, her own palm now bereft of any scarring to tell the tale of their experiments, and the journal itself. "Should you get into trouble for using it, even if you have no intentions of misusing the gifts you've chosen, then how would you justify it with word alone? Your notes would give you credibility, if someone can comprehend the method."

"All this to say - yes. I would be willing to, if you would have me."

Kyra nodded, agreeing silently with the words of the newcomer. She couldn't argue the logic in general terms, although she did find one major flaw with it. The written word is only so good...especially when written by the one being persecuted. Perhaps...

Perhaps you should start your own notations...your own research notes on the topic as well. That way there is no bias, no singular viewpoint that could be clouded. Two, impartial views. Far better than one - especially one, who would be the individual under fire for the usage of such...taboo magic.

She made a few more minor notes in her book, before closing it gently. Glancing up at the pink-haired elfen woman, Kyra considered the future of her research. There was so much more to be done here, and yet...

I think for now...we should compile our notes. Testing anything further without consideration of the implications of today...well, it would be foolhardy. Rushing into the unknown. Always a dangerous play, when you don't know what's waiting for you.

Or who...She stood, stretching her arms, legs and back as she unfurled from her position on the floor. For now, she needed to consider everything that had happened here - and what it meant for the future of hemomancy. She was hopeful, in ways she couldn't belief she felt towards a game, that she'd have an impact on the viewpoint of the magic. Changing everyone's minds...that's certainly something...

They seemed to be on the same page on how best to move forward with their investigation on the topic. with the elf already drafting a content table for what she should write about first regarding her experience with the healing factors of Hemomancy.

Well, in that case... We have something to theorize about. First, we had thought that different blood types between travelers didn't exist, but being as it is - us having no proof of this to speak of - we can't quite rule it out. But given what we have seen here...

Her hand was lifted mid-air to point at something, but soon the storyteller found that pointing at a specific element wasn't quite the correct thing to do in this particular circumstance, with all factors having to be taken into consideration. Instead, she just gestured to Kyra as a whole.

It is far more probable that your command over blood magic itself is able to bypass such limitations, that is what I will write about. A positive note, that is what research should start on.

Things such as these were at their best when one worked on them over various periods of time, rather than rushing into them all at once. In fairness, the same could be said about lots of other things, but perhaps they would be wiser to stay away from more trials and tests...
