Amy was a bit astonished at the prettiness of the crystals surrounding her. How could such a beautiful place be so desolate?
Her vision was strangely blurry though. As if something was obfuscating her eyes.
She met them. They came. They were worried. Amy saw her crystallized eyes in the mirror. That was the first time Amy truly understood the meaning of fear.
He was there though. He eased her. He told her she was gonna be okay... She believed him. She let him hold her. She let darkness embrace her.
It was way worse than she thought. Having only darkness as company. The constant feeling of loneliness. The terrifying thoughts that instantly plagued her mind as soon as someone let go of her arm. What if they left? What if she became alone once more? How was she meant to survive?
Yet they didn't leave. He didn't leave. He stayed. He showed her how to feel the surroundings. He made her her cane... He was there with her. She could no longer see him, yet she was much happier now than she was when she first saw his face.
Walking together. Learning how to rely on her ears and nose to understand her surroundings now that her eyes could no longer do it. Learning how to see magic without any eyes to see... So many happy memories.
So many sad memories. So many funerals to attend. So many shed tears.
Amy cried and cried. Cried over faces she had never seen. Over voices she was never going to hear again. She cried over and over again.
But at least he was here. She could lean her head on his shoulder. Knowing that he, at least, would always take care of her.
Until he didn't.
Amy woke up. Her breathing was ragged. She felt tears covering her face... "That nightmare again..." She muttered to nobody in particular.
The memories of what exactly she dreamt of never lasted long... Yet she still understood what it was. The best and worst times of her life. Repeated again and again for her.
She hated it. How many more times was she going to have to cry over what couldn't be recovered...?
Amy sighed... There was no use wondering about it too much. She got up, carefully moved around, got changed, picked up her precious cane, and started moving outside her tent... Another day was starting. She couldn't have everyone back, but she was not alone. She was never going to be alone.
I'll keep trying... I won't forget our promise. Amy sent her thoughts to someone who could no longer listen... More as a way to reassure herself than anything else.
Hopefully today would be a good day.
