Fire roared under a jungle's clearing after a harsh battle sheared the grass and canopies within sight. The damage to the ground had been visible. The fire which had been lit at the camp's center accentuated them, a reminder that the Tangleweaves were full of danger, while the opened medical kit by his side was a second. These were not the only reminders still, for there was the corpse of a Jade Jaguar bent right over THE GUY's knee.

"Can't believe these little babosos brought so much trouble for us. Just goes to show that they have the home-field, I'd say. I'm glad they went for me instead of you-I wasn't the one about to die!" A bold laugh rumbled from his chest, one unfettered by his usual helmet. It was a laugh meant to cover away the notion in his head that told him that 'I likely wouldn't have come to save you, either'.

Instead of saying such grim things, THE GUY instead deigned to leave a positive impression behind. While he had appreciated the help, he was going to leave on his own regardless. There was something in this forest that he did not want people to follow him to hunt. He made sure that his two new comrade-in-arms knew of this.

In the meantime, they rested. THE GUY picked blade beneath jade hide to pull away trophies with which to split between them three. He felt it the least he could do to pick away some loot for the samaritans beside him. That, and cook some meat by the fireside so that they wouldn't yet go fed on something as depressing as travel rations.

A continuation of 'To Kill a Mockingjade', made so that we can go as long as we please here.

She had been touched by the concern Yua had showed for her well-being, reassuring the human girl that her wounds were nothing serious... even if her whole body was screaming in protest Lúthien refused to let it show, the last thing she wanted was worry a newly found friend. The elf could only hope her performance had been convincing enough for the girl, though a sharp look from the man they had encountered told her there would be no fooling him in the same manner.

Healing potions had been handed to both girls, aling with a first aid kit for any lingering wounds that the healing mist spray wasn't able to fully cure. What had actually surprised Lúthien was the flasks of water procured next, the meaning behind the man's words and looks as he handed one to her not lost on the elf. After that little stunt with her Hydromancy Lúthien had been absolutely parched, so she had drank the entire contents of the flask without a second thought.

"I thought they were solitary hunters... and yet we got ambushed by three of them."

There had been a surprised look on her face at the sudden knowledge of the man possibly knowing one of her native languages, though she couldn't help the frown that crossed her hace as she gazed at the corpse of the jade jaguar currently bent over the beastfolk's knee. A fire softly roared, the warmth the small but expertly built camp fire provided helping soothe sore muscles.

Kneeling behind Luthien, Yua carefully braided the taller woman's hair, quietly humming to herself as she ran her finger's through the elf's soft, silky strands. It was a simple, happy, lilting tune, as she went about her work, matching the faint smile that the smaller girl wore on her face.

"I guess some things work a little differently in the game than they do in real life," she mused. She didn't know much about jaguars in real life. Just that they were predatory hunters, big cats, and as Luthien had mentioned solitary hunters. Whatever the case was, they'd all managed, none the worse for wear. Well, for the most part at least. Everyone had needed a healing potion or two, but it could've been a lot worse.

The girl glanced up at the big man as he too spoke, a curious look on her face. "Are you an experienced warrior Mr...?" the girl trailed off as she realized they had never caught the man's name. "I'm sorry, but what's your name mister?" she asked. "My name is Yua."
