---------BEEP BEEP BEEP---------

Slender fingers landed atop the ridged plastic of the incessantly screaming alarm clock, bright green tipped nails clicking against the hardened surface as the button to turn off the noise was smashed. A groggy, sleep-filled groan wafted through the air as the covers on the bed were pushed away from the uncoiling frame that lay beneath them. The shafts of sunlight reaching through the blinds on the nearby window illuminated lightly tanned skin covered in a thin, light violet sleeping gown, long, currently tangled and disheveled locks of red hair cascading down the back of the Ahmbreh's frame. The same hand that had turned off the alarm lifted to rub at still closed eyes as her feet came to rest on the thick carpet lining the floor of the small apartment bedroom floor, before her eyes opened, revealing clear, oceanic-blue hues locking onto the face of the clock.

6:45 am. Too early, in her opinion, especially on a Saturday, but work was a must. Groaning once more she stood from the bed and made her way into the bathroom. Thin layer of clothing peeled away she reached to start the shower, giving it a moment for the water to heat, before stepping beneath the streams. Taking the time to wash her hair and body, she turned off the water and stepped out of the shower. Reaching to grasp the towel hanging on the nearby rack, she took a moment to dry as much of the water as she could from her hair, before wrapping the towel around herself and stepping back out into the room. This was one of the few times she was actually glad that she lived alone. There was no one around to question her or complain about her routines.

Glancing back over at the clock she grumbled a bit as she began rummaging through closet and drawers, gathering the needed pieces for her work uniform. Pulling on her underclothing, and then a pair of dark blue jeans, along with her maroon colored shirt, she grabbed her brush and set about getting her hair into some semblance of order, before slipping on her shoes, tying on her apron, and grabbing her keys and purse. Taking a moment to make sure she had everything, she opened the door and stepped out, closing and locking it behind her. A few moments walk down the stairs to get out to the parking lot and she was soon seated behind the wheel of her old chevy pick up, cursing at the traffic lights as if they were going to make her late.

The drive itself was only around ten minutes and she was soon pulling her name tag from her purse and fastening it onto her shirt. Taking a moment to check her appearance in the rear view mirror, she pulled a tube of lipstick from her purse. Bubblegum number 9, the deep, dark pink was the only makeup she ever wore, a rare shade that was complemented by her red hair, as opposed to clashing with it.. Applying a layer to her lips, she pressed them together, capping the tube and dropping it back into her purse. Sliding her purse under the passenger seat, she opened the door and exited the truck, locking the doors before she made her way into the diner before her, ready to clock in and start her shift. Serving wasn't the ideal job, that much she would agree with, but it paid her few expenses and the tips meant money in pocket daily. So she couldn't complain, really, aside from the occasional rude customer. Sometimes she even met some interesting people. Today, however, she sincerely hoped for nothing more than the shift to go smoothly and quickly.

Things had gotten tight, financially, since she had completed her bachelors and started the courses for her masters. She was working two jobs. One at the bar/club she had been employed at for six years. She had started there as a dancer, but now tended bar in the evenings. The diner, known as Dreamland, she had picked up just recently. It had been a place she had avoided for a long while. There were memories here ...Memories she still slept fitfully due to, even with the years of work her therapist had put in. She had to give Alyssa credit, though. Working with her had given Ahmbreh a new handle on her personal demon. The voice in her head that constantly caused her to question herself. The little voice that for around a year and a half had berated her from within until she had nearly lost herself. She shook her thoughts away, not really caring to find herself reminiscing over things so dark. Her eating disorder was a thing of the past, and her unwanted inner companion had become more of a quiet annoyance. One she usually managed well. She was a new woman now, and on her way to becoming an even better version of herself, no matter how tiring it might be at times.

The influx of memories trying to sneak into her thoughts did open the doors for one, however. Damien ...The one who disappeared. She still wasn't certain what had happened with him. They had been set up to play Terrasphere, back before it had been 'locked out'. Upon logging into the game, however, they had been kicked right back out. From that point she hadn't been able to log back in. Damien had gotten a call from someone and had to leave. That was the last time she had seen him or been able to play Terrasphere. Both events had impacted her life in ways that had proven to be bad for her and the hell-hole of shit she had already been in. She was doing much better, healthier ...But there was still sadness in her thoughts of the past. Taking a deep breath, she pushed her thoughts aside once more and plastered a smile on her face as she entered the main lobby of the diner, ready to take her position as both host and server. She'd gotten the email just last night letting her know that Terrasphere was back. She had taken the time to redownload the app, but had not yet had time to actually dive in. There would be time for that after work, however. Who knew, maybe something interesting would actually happen today. The only way to find out was to face the day, right?

The long-browned hair girl was embracing the morning air by standing on the beach with a hot chocolate in her hands keeping them warm. The wind was blowing slightly giving a small chill to the air. The sun was just trying to rise up to light up the sky and bring forth warmth. The ocean was glistening as the sun hit the water that seemed like it went on forever. Katherina wasn't really a morning person but sometimes she was unable to sleep. Her mind never seemed to give her a break. She thought about her brother who was still considered missing in action. Some days it was hard to remember that she wasn't an only child. He didn't keep in touch with her or even try to find her. When she was younger, he used to care about her the way an older brother should love his little sister. However, after he disappeared all those years ago, she was all alone left to fend for herself. It has always been an uphill battle. It was never easy by far. Some days she just wanted to sleep the days away and stay in bed. Of course, that couldn't be done though. She had to live her life.

Drinking the sweet hot chocolate woke her up with the sugary goodness. Coffee was too bitter, and she didn't like tea. No rhyme or reason for that it just was how she was. She sighed and watched the sun rise into the sky to greet the day. A new day had begun. She yawned feeling tired having just spent the last couple of nights doing her night job as a paranormal investigator. Staying up all night wasn't the healthiest choice, but it was what that type of job called for. Her phone vibrated as she looked down at a reminder that she had to eat. Katherina was still battling her eating disorder that came from when she tried to be a dancer turned cheerleader. Once the sun was now fully in the sky and farther away from the ocean, she realized now the earth was waking up. She downed the rest of her hot chocolate and walked towards the trash can to throw away whatever was left in the cup. She had drunk most of it. Now she was tasked of where to go next.

If she went home, chances were she'd skip out on eating entirely and just go to bed to wake up way later in the day. She went through her contacts and clicked on Damien's name and pressed on it to call. "We're sorry. The number you have reached has been disconnected. Please hang up and try your call again. Goodbye." She clenched her fist around her phone and sighed. She had forgotten what he even sounded like anymore. When they were younger, they often played make believe as Wendy and Peter Pan. They would have endless fun running around their pretend Neverland. Now it seems she had to grow up and leave that magical land forever. Peter Pan never came to visit her again. Somehow it felt like she was kicked out of Neverland, and he had gone to find himself another Wendy. Or perhaps he found another Neverland that was much farther away and beyond unreachable. Still not a day went by that she didn't not think about her brother. She tried to but some things always reminded her of him.

The Dreamland Diner was close by and within walking distance. At least she would get some exercise not that she really needed it. The poor thing was very skinny and slim. As she walked she began thinking about Terrasphere. She smiled thinking about it. At least that game gave her genuine happiness. Ever since it came back, she felt that her happiness improved little by little. She could search around that world and find herself some friends that could become like family to her. That's what she desperately needed and yearned for. Friends and family because for quite some time she's been deprived. Katherina made her way to the diner where she stopped and stood looking at it from the outside. She closed her eyes reimagining her and Damien as kids chasing each other and having fun. She imagined if he was here this would be the diner he would work at if he didn't work there already.

She wiped at her eyes any tears that might of been forming. She couldn't cry. She didn't want to cry. All she ever seemed to do was cry and it was exhausting mentally and physically. She never thought growing up and being on her own would be so damn hard. No family in the world to keep up with her. It was just her now. She was trying not to grow a hatred for Damien abandoning her but it was hard not to. He had always taken care of her when they were younger. He must of gotten fed up and left to start his own life. At least that was what her 'Father' had told her. And she believed him. She believed every word.

Katherina walked up to the door of the Dreamland Diner and opened the door. She heard her stomach rumbling for food with the sweet aroma of food she was met with. She waited behind some other customers before she got up to the podium to wait and be seated.

~Where the fuck was Rægn?~ It was already an hour into shift and the pinchy-faced blonde hadn't shown up, yet. That left the red-haired female doing her job as well as the job of the hostess. Normally she wouldn't mind. Hell, she hadn't minded, when she'd gotten to the diner, but so far this morning, in less than an hour, the front of the house was half full and she was already feeling run near ragged. It was proving to be a helluva day, already. Thankfully, for the moment, the wave of customers seemed to have ceased. She was thankful for that, but her shift still had hours to go, and if she were honest, she'd rather be home. She was on day 6, and looking forward to the next two she had off. Inwardly she grumbled, her state of mind something akin to flustered, though on the surface, the outside, her countenance was nothing but calm and sweetness. She flitted through her tables, taking orders and tossing smiles. A little flirting here and there, when the vibe seemed right for it helped to guarantee a happy table. The tips did help to make things a little better, but not by much. However, for all the world to see, she was simply a cheerful college girl working a part-time job. Between tables she was tossing glances towards the doors, knowing that in the din of the voices around her she might not hear the light ding of the entrance bell, were anyone to enter the establishment.

She was making her way past her front two tables, when the bell did go off, however. Oceanic-blue hues flicked towards the doors, taking in the customers who stepped through them. Turning further in their direction, she allowed herself a moment to study them as they stood at the podium, simply judging rather it was one party or possibly more. Grabbing a few menus as she passed by the stack near the doors, she made her way over to the podium. Pink tinted lips spread into a welcoming smile, and those clear, oceanic-blue hues lit up with a brightness that caused them to shimmer like pools of clear, sun-kissed water. Menus clasped in her left hand, she turned her smile onto those waiting to be seated.

"Welcome to Dreamland, I'm Ahmbreh. I'll be your hostess and waitress. How many?" Her voice was cheerful, almost animated, when she spoke, the sentiment, of which, clearly shone on her face as well. The group before her did not seem like they were all together, and it seemed she was right in her assessment as a dark-haired man standing closest to the podium answered her with a simple.
"Four." His voice was gruff, tinged with what almost sounded like annoyance. If her thoughts could roll their eyes, they certainly would have, as she heard the tone in his voice.

"Excellent. Follow me, if you will, please."She spoke, her voice cheery, reflecting none of the exhaustion and lack of true comfort she felt. In truth she had little care for being around people, preferring her own home to crowded places and having to be sociable. She needed the job, however, so she put on quite the act when she was at work. Leading the group to a table in the center of the room, she kept the smile on her face as she waited, patiently for them to be seated, before placing menus in front of each of them. Flipping open the order pad in her other hand, she pulled a pen from the pocket of her apron and widened her smile, just slightly, bringing the edges of her eyes to crinkle. The expression would look genuine, rather she felt such emotion in the moment or not.

"Might I start you off with something to drink, while you take a few moments to look over our menu?" She asked, tilting her head, slightly, and she jotted down the drink orders for the table, before she gave them a nod.
"I'll have those right to you." She said, cheerily, before turning to make her way back to the podium and the one customer still standing there. The dark-haired young woman was waiting patiently, which was something Ahmbreh was glad to see. Smiling brightly as she reached the podium, she waited for the other female to notice her return, before greeting her.

"Hello, and welcome to Dreamland. My name is Ahmbreh, and I'll be your hostess and server. Will it just be you?" She waited for a response before leading the young woman to a back table, near one of the windows. She waited for the woman to be seated, before placing a menu in front of her and pulling her pad and pen from her apron pocket.
"Would you like to start with something to drink, while you take time to look over our menu?" She asked, tilting her head, slightly, with the smile she offered the other female.

Outwardly she was nothing more or less than an accommodating host and waitress, seeing to the welfare of her customers. Inwardly she was screaming, however. Screaming about how much she wished to be any where else, as she hadn't truly felt up to work today, screaming about the few rude customers she'd dealt with, screaming about the fact that she still had so much time left in her shift, screaming and cursing Rægn for her insolence in not showing for her shift. At least she had a couple of days off to let herself reset and get in some time on the game, before starting the loop again, and she was off from the club today as well. Taking comfort in that fact, she was able to keep her eyes bright and her smile wide, as she waited for the other woman's response.

Brown eyes watched the one girl running around from table to table giving menus to those who just sat down and then again serving drinks to others. The poor girl was basically running the show all by herself. Places could be understaffed for multiple reasons. Either real life sets in and work is not the top priority or the day is nice and that leads to a call out to enjoy the nice weather. Whatever the reason to this poor girl being all alone, Katherina felt bad for her. Before she had made her way over to her, she contemplated just turning around and going somewhere else. Why should she add to the business in making this lone worker more miserable. She may not of been showing it but she has friends who work in retail. They always told horror stories of how much it sucked and how much they hated people. Although Katherina had no experience in working retail, she could still empathize with others.

Her mind told her to turn around and go somewhere else. She was about to take a step back and turn towards the door until she was greeted by the hostess turned server by the name of Ahmbreh. A silent sigh escaped her lips as it was too late now. She'd been spotted and thus didn't want to give the girl anymore of a hard time than what she might of been going through. Katherina nodded to her when she asked if it was only her. Clearly there was nobody else around her but obviously the server wasn't a mind reader. Some people might of showed up and waited for their friend or companion to join thus saying the real number while only showing a false number of customers.

The long haired girl followed Ahmbreh to the back of the diner and took her seat by the window with sunlight peering in shining in on the dining room and warming up the table. The glow of the sun felt nice and brought a smile to her face. It was like she was receiving a nice warm hug from Damien for finally visiting Dreamland Cafe. Katherina didn't try to actively avoid the fine establishment but she didn't like the memories that were covered there. Before Damien had ever started working there, it was a place she and him frequented together. Even if they weren't together, she would stop by secretly and watch him work. Just his little sister keeping an eye on her older brother. Curious to see the life he was living and how he acted at work. That was until everything changed and he no longer worked there and disappeared all together.

"I'll have some cranberry juice and a glass of water with lemon please." Her eyes looked down at the menu. Then she looked around at the other customers and she looked up at the girl with her soulful brown eyes. "I know you're busy and I'm sorry for choosing to come in today on such a busy day for you." She cleared her throat and looked down at the menu before placing it down. "Please feel free to go take care of your other customers. I don't mind being patient. I haven't been here in a long while so I'll need a little bit of time to go over the menu if that's okay with you."

Why was she apologizing and asking permission? That's what she was used to doing around her 'parents.' Even now when she was clearly an adult she still felt like a little child under the protection of her guardians. They were long gone out of the picture now. Old habits die hard.

Ahmbreh nodded as the young woman ordered her drinks. Clear ocean-blue hues skimmed over the other female as she glanced around the place and back to the red-headed server. She continued speaking, so for the moment, the red-head remained standing there, her expression calm, kind. Inwardly she was still raging, mostly about Raegn having not shown up., but she wouldn't ever take her personal pains out on her customers. Mostly because smiles got tips, but there were other reasons, and the sorrowful gaze of those big, brown eyes was one of them. One never knew what someone else might be going through at a time. So, why, without reason, risk being a hard part of someone's day?

The way the other woman spoke, her apology for choosing the diner on such a day, the politeness in her tone. It didn't seem false or forced, but mingled with the shadow in the woman's eyes, she couldn't help but feel this was one of those times she was right in her assessment of what was the best choice in how to conduct herself. The thought brought the server's frame to relax some, as her smile softened a bit more. Closing her pad and placing her pen back into her pocket, she shook her head at the other female's words. "No need to apologize at all, Miss. Feel free to take all the time you need, and I'll be right back with those drinks." Her voice was soft, gentle, as she spoke, and her eyes actually shown with the sincerity of her smile, at this point.

Turning from the table, she made her way back across the diner, grabbing a tray and preparing the drinks she still had to deliver to a couple of the tables. Making her way back from preparing the drinks, she made it a point to stop by the dark-haired female's table first. Placing down the cup of cranberry juice and the glass of water with lemon, she laid two straws beside them. "Here you go, Miss. Refills are free, and again, my name is Ahmbreh. Feel free to call me when you're ready to order." She said, giving the woman another smile, before making her way over to the group table and beginning to place their drinks down.

"It's about damned time." The man who had addressed her when she had seated the party's voice cut through her mind like a heated blade. His tone was snarky and dripped with a sense of entitlement that truly aggravated her. She was generally one to be able to overlook certain personality traits and such. It was a skill borne from necessity with her other job, and this one, to a degree, but it was becoming increasingly harder for her to want to remain calm with this one. It wasn't even that he'd done anything in-particularly wrong. She was just already irked and he kept fueling the fire. She took a short breath and steeled herself, however. She really didn't have a desire to lose the job. "I apologize for your wait." She responded, instead, turning her wide smile on the current source of her irritation. "Are you ready to order?" She asked, her gaze sliding over the other three members of the party. Man, woman, two younger males. She assumed they were a family, not that it really mattered to her. Jotting down their orders, she gave them a smile once more. "Absolutely. We'll have that out soon." She said, before taking her leave of their table.

Making her rounds through the tables, she collected a couple of cards from some ready to pay their bills. She made quick work of getting receipts and change to tables that needed them, but made it a point to not take the one table's order to the cooks until she was done. Sure, she needed the job, but certain attitudes deserved a bit of chaos in their lives, as far as she was concerned, and she wasn't in a hurry to have to deal with that table again, just yet. Having finished up her round through the tables, she turned the new ticket in and turned to make her way back over to the table where sat the dark-haired female. The smile on her lips as she approached the table was softer than the one the other table had been blessed with. There was something about this woman that just seemed ...Well, genuine. She didn't really know how else to describe it.

"Hello, again, Miss. Are you ready to order?" She asked as she stepped up to the table, pad and pen in hand. The smile would stay on her lips as she awaited an answer. Inwardly her thoughts were of the shift being over. She was ready for some time to relax and hopefully check out a bit of the game. She couldn't help but wonder about such things. Even with so long of not having Terrasphere to play, she could openly admit she'd missed it and was looking forward to being immersed back into that world. Well, at least her break should come soon. The diner had cleared out to only the group of four and the dark-haired girl, and she'd been here half a shift already. Pushing her stray thoughts aside, she focused back on the other female, patiently awaiting her response.

Katherina gave her server a small smile when she said that refills were free. Her eyes looked down at the red colored juice that was cranberry juice. Reaching for the straw, she pulled off the paper wrapping and placed it into her glass. Then she repeated the steps to once again do the same but this time putting the straw into the glass with the lemon wedge. Slowly she reached for the red juice and put the straw to her lips and sucked up the liquid. She closed her eyes immediately thinking back to her childhood where she always drank cranberry juice. This particular juice was tart yet refreshing. The sip was small but it burst with flavor once it landed on her tongue and over her taste buds.

Looking across the table, her mind presented a smaller Damien and Katherina in front of her. It was an innocent before anything bad had happened. At least before she had been brainwashed by her parents and told various lies. Before Damien disappeared never to be seen or heard from again. The little siblings were lifting their glasses doing a 'cheers' gesture before gulping their drinks. The older Katherina watched as a waitress came over and brought over french toast and pancakes for the duo with lots of flour, sugar and syrup. Oh how she missed such a time. If only she could go back and relive that time again and again she would.

The young woman was brought back to reality with the different sounds of the diner coming to life. The clinking of silverware on plates and glasses being picked up and put down. The aroma of the kitchen coming out and greeting her. Her eyes turned and she saw her server and hostess working the other tables. Even if she had been annoyed, Katherina couldn't tell. She seemed happy and unphased by the impatient customers that didn't understand that sometimes you had to wait for the things you wanted. At least they would get their food in the end. It had to be ordered and cooked before appearing back on the tables. That was the cycle of dining out at public places.. And when the place was understaffed then the cycle wasn't as fast as it should be. It was completely understandable. She made a mental note to give the girl a good tip before leaving.

Eventually Ahmbreh made her way back to her table to take her order. It seemed like she came right back aside from getting stuck with her numerous other tables. "Oh right, sorry." She nodded and picked up the menu and quickly looked it over. "I guess I'll have two eggs and some toast please." She could already hear her younger self pouting and to the point of tears. She sighed and looked back in the menu wanting to make her inner child happy. "Is it possible to have a short stack of pancakes as well? I don't really have a big stomach so I don't want too much." Katherina wasn't even sure if she'd be able to eat everything but the illusion of the little Katherina looked happy and excited upon hearing her request. "If not it's okay then I'll just have the eggs and toast."

She folded up the menu and reached up to hand it back to the waitress. "I hope your day gets better too. Please don't overwhelm yourself either." She didn't have to be a scientist to see that the diner was running slowly because of being under staffed. "I also hope that you get out early today. I watched the sun rise this morning, and it looks like it might be a beautiful day."

Ahmbreh gave the other female a wide smile, nodding her head as she jotted down the order. "Of course, I'll put that right in for you, and thank you for your kind words. It's been a bit of a hectic morning, but things are starting to calm down a bit now." She said, before turning to make her way back towards the kitchen. She was genuinely thankful for the seemingly genuine kindness the dark-haired female seemed to possess. She hadn't missed the almost sad and pained look in the other female's eyes as she had interrupted her thoughts, however. She couldn't help but find herself wondering if the girl was alright. She seemed much too kind to be plagued with thoughts that brought those sorts of shadows to someone's eyes.

As she walked back towards the kitchen, Ahmbreh couldn't help but feel a little touched by the woman's kindness. Thoughtfulness and caring weren't something she was used to finding a lot of among the customers who frequented her place of work; neither of her places of work, really. Most people were too focused on themselves and their own needs to consider anyone else's. At least, that's how she had come to view and understand the world over the years. The other female had seemed genuinely concerned for the waitress's well-being and was kind enough to offer a compliment on the day's weather. It was a small gesture, but it meant a lot to her, especially on a day like today.

There was something about the girl's eyes that reminded her of a certain MIA friend. The kindness in the woman's demeanor went a long way to bring Ahmbreh's thoughts back around to thoughts of Damien and his whereabouts. She hoped that wherever he was he was okay. She pushed the thoughts away once more as she heard the chef call out for orders being ready. Carefully grabbing the plates of food, she placed them on a tray and made her way back to the dining area. Making her way over to the group of four she placed their food down. "Here you go, I apologize for any wait" she said, ignoring the haughty glare she got from the oldest male and making her way over to the table where the dark-haired female sat and placing her food down in front of her. "I apologize for any wait, Miss, and hope you enjoy your meal. Do let me know if you need anything else." She said, giving the woman a wide smile, before turning to make her way back to the front of the restaurant.

Katherina was tuning in and out of her television state like mind. She was reliving old memories while fantasizing that her older brother was with her. Each time Ahmbreh returned to her table and spoke to her it brought her back for a little while. Perhaps she was thankful from being completely sucked in something that would never be. As she placed the food down in front of her, the aroma quickly found its way into her nose. It smelled wonderful and looked even more appetizing. The two over easy eggs look perfectly cooked. The yolk was whited over until she was ready to break its shield and set free the yellow liquid to run freely all over the plate. The toast was toasted brown and hardly burnt. She hated burnt toast mainly because the toaster at her original house was always broken. Sometimes she was forced to eat toast just to eat something and it was usually a piece of bread covered in black.

The pancakes smelled heavenly making her go back into that television channel again. She could see herself laughing and pouring syrup over her pancakes after spreading out the butter. Damien always teased her for the amount of syrup she put on saying it was too much sugar. Her eyes became wet feeling the tears form behind her eye. Why did she come to the diner if it would be so hard? What a mistake and stupid decision this was. Later on she would scold herself and remind herself to go back to avoiding the Dreamland Cafe at all costs.

Taking the salt, Katherina poured it over her eggs before beginning to eat the whites of the egg first. This was something she and Damien had in common. They both ate the white part before diving into the yolk. Another habit she picked up from him was breaking off the crust of the bread and piling it up on the side of the plate. This was a sure indication that she was Damien's little sister that he may or may not of spoken about. 'Fight back those tears Katherina. He wouldn't want you to cry like this especially over breakfast. These memories are happy ones.' The voice in her head who sounded like a strong adult version of her was so nice to her. Yes she had to not cry and draw attention to herself. Katherina took in a deep breath and reached for her cranberry juice and took a big refreshing gulp from the glass.

Half way eating through the eggs, she then focused her attention on her pancakes. She cut the melted butter in half and spread it over the top pancake. Then she took the bottom one and placed it on top of the now buttered pancake and started buttering up the second one. Then she poured syrup on the top and spread it over the pastry before flipping it over and pouring more on to the dry circle. Another common thing she and her brother had in common.
