Kyanna swirled the soup with her spoon for a moment, taking a sip of it while listening to Eva's answers.

"Oh yeah... I know this game is illegal." Kyanna nodded. "But to think they managed to go that far and get rid of almost everything, this VRSA is real tough, huh?" She muttered, honestly surprised about the organization's capabilities... Or perhaps, Kyanna was just underestimating just how influencing a powerful entity could be in the real world.

For a moment, Kyanna couldn't help but feel stared at by Eva, and her cheeks grew rosy for a moment as she adjusted her hair, wondering if there was something funny on her face until the woman spoke once again.

Her gaze was intense, though her words prompted something simple for Kyanna.

With a faint smile, Kyanna quickly answered:

"I'm trying to find my mother." Kyanna said. "From what I've found, there is a big chance she is locked in here. Somewhere in this world."

"But to think they managed to go that far and get rid of almost everything, this VRSA is real tough, huh?"

"They are. Not without reason."

The concern for public safety is one big thing. But blocking humanity's progress and the search for knowledge? Irritating. Not that Eva knows anything about being irritated, anyway.

Munching on her bread, the woman listened to the girl who finally revealed that she was searching for her mother.

"From what I've found, there is a big chance she is locked in here. Somewhere in this world."

UI Locked. In other words, dead in real life

A girl, looking for her mother who passed away. Tragic.

"Sorry to hear that," Eva said, not feeling any empathy but at the very least knowing what to say in times like this. "You'll find her."

Research shows that a bit of encouragement goes a long way. Besides, if she could find a UI-locked person, maybe there's gonna be a lot of answers to her question. Might be an interesting subject, even. "Have you had any idea where she is?"

Truly they had a reason, but- "It is still wrong, in a way..." Kyanna said, tilting her head and crossing her arms with mild annoyance, but one that she was quick to brush away, having a much better thing to do that was talking with the kind lady that had saved her.

"Thanks, I will find her for sure! The main issue is if she is some male giant elf, then finding her will be hard, but..." Kyanna perked up, leaning in before muttering. "If I can't, she will." She smirked, leaning away and playfully brushing her hair bangs. "She should recognize me, after all..." Kyanna giggled.

At the question regarding where she could be, Kyanna rubbed her neck. "I have no idea how this game and world works and where things are, so... no." She smiled awkwardly.

"But I am sure she is around here, it is clear, how this game would be in her device and she would just..." Kyanna paused, her smile freezing for a moment until she snapped out of it.

"Anyway, I think I could start by asking people if anyone knows someone tha looks like me." She said.

"She should recognize me, after all..."

Finding her mother, then what? There's no way to resurrect dead people. She still has to travel between worlds to meet her mother. "What about your father, then?" Eva interjected, interested in her thought process. "You know you are risking a one-way trip."

"Anyway, I think I could start by asking people if anyone knows someone that looks like me."

The woman nodded. A tavern is and will always be the go-to place for information in fantasy worlds (according to games, animes, and movies, of course). This was also a capital city as well, but she didn't know how big this world was still.

She promptly raised her right hand and snapped her fingers to catch the attention of the tavernkeeper, who noticed and made his way toward their table. "Anything I can help you two with?" He politely asked.

The white-haired woman gestured at the smaller girl, before throwing the question. "Say, have you seen a woman who looked like her?"

"My father..?" Kyanna muttered, quietening for a moment. "He doesn't play this stuff. But... He haven't been well lately. Obviously." She said, averting her gaze for a moment, wondering what he would say to her if he found out what she was trying to do.

Her eyes then returned to Eva, tilting her head for a moment. "It isn't a one-way trip if I don't die." She rose her eyebrows, grinning widely before blinking at the woman snapping her fingers, catching the attention of the tavernkeeper.

When he approached and the question was slipped, Kyanna paused and looked at the man, to give him a better sight of her face.

Crossing his arms, he gave it a thought. "Certainly, I see many black haired women every day..." He said, then shifting his attention to Eva. "She doesn't look entirely unfamiliar, but I can't really pin point who. We have hundreds of customers, and at least half of them are new Starcalled." He explained, calmly.

Kyanna perked up slightly at the reveal she didn't look unfamiliar, though what followed next made her halt her excitement. "It can't be any different, she must be in this world." She muttered, re-confirming it to herself.

"He doesn't play this stuff. But... He haven't been well lately. Obviously."

"You know he'll get worried." According to the studies, of course. During the entirety of her life, Katya had never experienced worry, fear, or what people called emotions. Not even toward her father, her brothers, or even her late mother.

"She doesn't look entirely unfamiliar, but I can't really pin point who. We have hundreds of customers, and at least half of them are new Starcalled." That might not be a help, but it's actually a pretty big clue for Eva. "It can't be any different, she must be in this world."

"Yes. At least we know that she's been here before, although not a regular." The older woman threw her conclusion, unable to set the next target but still a good place to start regardless. With both of the females currently deep in thought, the kind tavernkeeper then suggested them. "If you're looking for a Starcalled, why not go to Astorea?"

Not familiar with the geographical aspect of this new world, Eva tilted her head. "Astorea?" The tavernkeeper then excused himself for a moment, before coming back with a worn paper with a crudely drawn map on it. "Here, Astorea is the Starcalled's Nation. You're currently here, in Falderen," He pointed to the map. The snow-haired woman nodded, turning to Kyanna for her opinion.

Kyanna nodded eagerly at Eva's remark. "The only sad part is that we can't just wait for her to come in, it will take too long, if she isn't regular." She sighed, shaking her head and then peeking at the man when he seemed to suggest somewhere...

Astorea.

"Astorea?" She tilted her head, in sync with Eva's own questioning and confused gesture.

The man was quick to excuse himself before bringing up a map, making Kyanna perk up and open her eyes widely, focusing intently on the map before her while tracing every inch of it as the tavernkeeper gave the general information of their location and where they should go if they wanted better chances.

Eva's gaze met Kyanna's, and the girl sparkled.

"I think it is a great idea!" Her voice, filled with hope and joy, beamed a bit louder than it should. "Is there any way to get in there quickly? Maybe a shortcut?"

The man muttered something under his breath as he thought, before shrugging. "I've never been one to leave this town too much. Not to Astorea, at least." He admitted. "But your best bet would be taking a trip at a caravan." The man suggested.

Kyanna brimmed, but soon she shrunk, looking at Eva, concerned. "That would require gold we don't have though, right?"

"But your best bet would be taking a trip in a caravan."
"That would require gold we don't have though, right?"

"Right. We have to work for currency, I suppose."
Eva pondered, wondering what could they do for quick cash in a fantasy world like this. "Any jobs available around here?"

"There's Adventurer's Guild branch here, but if you don't want to bother signing up, there's always the public request board for easy jobs."

"Our best shot getting to Astorea would be doing quests, then."
As she thought. Probably collecting plants, animals, or all of those RPG game quests.

Sticking together is always the best way to survive in the earlier stages of every game. Even though their goal might not be the same, at least they can just collect gold and experience together. "Thank you," Eva nodded to the tavernkeeper, who then excused himself again to go back behind the bar.

The lady then turned to Kyanna, "It's almost late, you should rest for now." It was her first day logging in, and the girl had already accrued some important clues. Her enthusiasm must be controlled so that she doesn't quickly throw herself into danger.

"Rest? But we are just starting!" Kyanna retorted, pausing and then glancing at the window, with the night already consuming everything, quietening her rush for a moment.

She paused, turning her attention back to Eva. "Or... Maybe you are right." She sighed, opening her hands and closing them quickly to summon the UI.

"... I think I will check my abilities a bit more though... Nature Magic..." She muttered, looking up at Eva again.

"Will you log off?" Kyanna asked. "Will we do this quest together, or..?" She left the question lingering, unsure of what was going on in Eva's mind. Her expressions were faint and hard to read, but Kyanna was also one to only listen to direct approaches.

There was a small hint of 'please' in Kyanna's eyes, locked on Eva's. The girl was felt at ease near her, so she was sure it would be helpful to have her around.

"Or... Maybe you are right."

"Do not rush things, Kyanna. You'll need your head cooled if you want to find your mother."

The white-haired woman suggested being patient as they figure more things out in this game. The mastery system, progressions, and the economy. There are a lot of ways to find a person, and making them find you might be the easiest.

Eva herself needed time to prepare for things. She was not the one equipped with battle-ready masteries, and such more time would be needed.

"Will we do this quest together, or..?"

Eva was not the type to oblige to any type of request easily, especially if it doesn't benefit her whatsoever. But she did need a companion until she could at least sustain herself, or even establish something. Still emotionless, she shrugged. "Sure, why not." She smiled slightly, her eyes closed. That ought to put the girl at ease, too.

Earlier, the woman noticed there was a 'friend' tab on the palm menu, so she quickly brought that up and sent a friend request to the girl in front of her. "I'll be around almost every day. Just message me if you need anything."

Kyanna nodded at the advice, looking at her hands and then at the map they had with them. "I will be a little careful about it... Maybe ask and learn a bit more first." She held her breath, tapping her fingers on the table. "I don't know, maybe she shows up while I'm studying my next move?" Kyanna giggled, with a hopeful yet sorrowful tone as she gazed at the window.

So close, and yet so far.

Her gaze returned to Eva, spotting her faint smile and brightening up when seeing it. There were a lot of wonderful things to see in the world, but seeing someone smiling rarely failed at making Kyanna happier.

The friendship request popped up, making Kyanna a bit jumpy, blinking twice and accepting right away, beaming at the offer. "I will message you, for sure!" Kyanna nodded eagerly, then feeling a bit sheepish right away.

"Not necessarily only to ask you for help though..."

"I don't know, maybe she shows up while I'm studying my next move?" Kyanna giggled, a joke that the woman understood as a coping mechanism. In situations like these, the older woman presented a soothing smile to make people feel better. "That'll be ideal."

The smile she did earlier indeed had raised the girl's spirits. When someone's motivated, they will definitely perform things and chase their goal better; and that's the least Eva could have done for Kyanna now.

"I will message you, for sure! Not necessarily only to ask you for help though..."

"Then take me for tea sometime," She nodded as soon as Kyanna accepted the friend request, before opening several UI windows that lead to the log-out confirmation. "Then I will see you soon," Eva pressed the red button before slowly disappearing into a bunch of colorful codes. "Good night, Kyanna."
