Ronja's eyes flickered, holding the bird in her arms in uncertainty. She did know how to do first aid procedures on people, but on birds? She wasn't a vet.
If only she had heard her inner voice telling her it was a bad idea, she wouldn't have tried to test a Magitech creation in the middle of the forest. Rationally, she considered that an isolated spot from all towns and villages was a great idea, but her guts told her otherwise.
She didn't hear her guts, and the results weren't the best.
Everything went wrong as soon as one of her robots went rogue, and without any regards to the surrounding fauna and flora, blasting energy beams and projectiles everywhere. At the time, Ronja had to dodge all of it, but one particular blue macaw couldn't dodge it in time, scorching its poor wing and sending it falling from a tree.
Every time Ronja's regrets and mind reminded her of that, she couldn't help but feel her heart tighten.
Crying over spilled milk wasn't ideal, yet her eyes became watery quickly.
As she neared Finweald's gates, a line of people and wagons being inspected before they were allowed in stretched for dozens of meters. Ronja rushed to the gate, ignoring the line only to be halted by a guard that told her to go to the end of the line.
Holding the wounded bird gently, she pleaded: "Please let Ronja in! She doesn't know how much longer this bird will manage!" She said, with her voice hinting concern and hurry.
"I can't help you, ma'am. to the end of the line, please." The guard said, shaking his head.
