You are aboard the Imperial Petunia, a magnificent grand galleon dressed in Falderen's blue and white motifs. Anyone with eyes and half a brain for the arts would have taken note of the masterful craftsmanship that went into producing such a gorgeous marvel. The ship is divided into three levels, each featuring a spacious deck and an entry into the extravagant, multi-leveled cabin city within.

Regardless! You are here because, in one way or another, you either accepted or got duped into taking a grand fishing trip with a UI-locked player named Stephanie.

OHOM! Ah-ah, hello and welcome aboard the Imperial Petunia! My name is Stephanie or Steph for short. It's a pleasure to meet you again!

Some of you accepted my quest without knowing what it's really about, and I'm super grateful for that!

As for those who got tricked into being here… ehehe… I'm really sorry about that.

Anyways!

The reason why I gathered you all here today is because of her!

Steph gestured to an elderly woman beside her. The woman was sitting in a wooden chair on the upper deck with two highly intimidating guards at her side.

This is Marquisess Mariette Everbloom. I met her when I was weeding her estate while looking for a Fate Card I dropped. When she invited me in for tea, I heard all about her dying wish to destroy the Ilmean pirates at a fishing contest.

If you're wondering "why pirates?", it's all because she was kidnapped by a famous pirate named Goldbeard William when she was younger and happened to fall in love with him during the time they spent together. She's entered an arranged marriage with the man who saved her but has never been able to forget about Goldbeard William since.

Anyways!

There is a local legend that anyone who wants to meet the famous Goldbeard can only do so after they become the winner of a Grand Fishing competition that the pirates hold every ten years. Well... as you can see, the Marquisess would be lucky to have another year left in her before the next tournament in five years.

Of course, it's a shot in the dark, but it's sure better than dying with regrets!

I know it's not super cool to throw Astorea's weight around, and it's honestly kind of an in-the-moment, well, uh, moment, but I kind of, may have... sent a fishing war declaration letter to Nacre, the pirate capital...

B-but you know? It's not really that big of a deal! We can all use a dose of positivity and positively think of this as a super-intense cruise vacation, tehe!

Anyways!

Our destination is the middle of Ilmea's Lament, and our goal is to get as many of the rare catches as possible before we meet up with the pirates after the agreed-upon time and compare our catches in a few days.

So, without a—eh?

Steph stopped mid-sentence when she felt a shaky tug at the hem of her shirt. It was the Marquisess, who beckoned her to lean down. When Steph did, the old woman then mumbled something.

… …. .......... ... … ....…

Oh! Erm, yes ma'am! Well, everyone! The Marquisess would like to thank you all for helping her fulfill her dying wish.

So! Without further ado! Get into your swimsuit and slap some sunscreen on that bad boy and let's catch some fish and kick some pirate's booty!!!

Just as Steph pumped her hand up to initiate a pep rally, a massive wave splashed and drenched her, the Marquisess, the guards, and everyone on the open deck.

YARGHAHAHA! If ye be sleepin', all the fish be gone, ye promise me crew 100,000 gold from the Astorean coffa, ye betta be prepared to carry all that gold ta Nacre!

C'ommon ye lazy seadogs! It's time ta work and show the little muppets who be the Lords of Ilmea! NARGHAHAHA

…... .. …. .......... ... …...... ....…

Well, the Marquisess says that you are very rude and that she will decimate your entire crew in the competition!

After the pirate ship sped off, Steph stiffly turned toward you as her demeanor changed completely.

...I may have, possibly, over-enticed the pirates with promise of Astorea's treasury, tehe... please don't tell Astor. He will skewer me and let the vultures pick off my flesh. A-anything but the vultures!!

A-anyways, that aside!

(Steph extended her hand toward you.)

Will you join me on a quest to make granny's wish come true and enjoy what summer has to offer?

Blue Sky Bluer Water
Mini Game Event

Anyone who truly did not want to be there immediately jumped off the ship as it began to cast its sails and headed off into the deep blue, chasing after the pirates who got a head start. Only gods know what will await the crew beyond the horizon.

The grand fishing battle has officially begun!

Blue Sky and Bluer Water is a relaxing event meant to get characters socializing. The writing is secondary as the main goal is to roll some dice and have fun. Come join us!

After what seemed like hours and no catch to be had, it was clear to you that you and your group might have exhausted the Meliodashi that were in the area. Although some lucrative opportunity to make extra gold could be had if you were to find another sunken ship somewhere, there's not enough time for that if the group wanted to beat the pirates.

Speaking of pirates, toward the end of your Meliodashi catches, the opposition ship sailed past, but not without its captain swinging his head overboard.

YARGHAHAHA! Ye ship be looking light, matey. Take a look at our catch, it be a bigger pile than that sad stack of ye. YARGHAHAHA! Cutchathroata-later, gulpies!

Argh! Everyone! We need to move onto the next catch of the day! I'm not sure whether bowbeard is lying or not, but we need to keep up so I don't end up in debt and destitute!

Ah-umm, our next catch of the day is in deeper waters. We're looking for a rare fish called the Basseal.

Let's goooo!

(She pumped her fist in the air while fumbling with her fishing rod on the other hand and ended up hooking onto @Hanno Futaba's trunk, threatening to pull it off.)

Eyaah, oh my gosh!

@Crimson Ruby thought she had pulled an ordinary Basseal out of the water but ended up pulling a super friendly one, which with a single thwap of its tail, threw her onto the bottom deck where it and a few of its buddies jumped out of the water and onto the ship.

UNGH UNGH UNGH UNGH!!!

The Basseals cried as they clapped their fins, salivating at some of the Meliodashis that had been caught. Some also rolled around on the deck, wriggling their plump body looking for good scritches.

If you were to feed and pet these Basseals, you might be able to ride them for the next Catch of the Day!

OOC
  • Instead of rolling, you may opt to feed one of the Basseals instead (0/5)
  • No Meliodashi will be deducted if you choose to feed them
  • Instead of ▣ Basseal Caught, use ▣ Basseal Serviced: 0/5
  • Basseal Caught has been increased to 13 as a reward for the nat-100.
  • ▣ Current Basseal Caught: 13

After you and your group serviced the friendly Basseals that leaped onto the deck, they UNGH'ed energetically, happy to be treated like royalty among Travelers. Having watched the entire thing, the Marchioness beckoned for Steph to come to her. The redhead was delighted to, since any more fishing would have her hook off someone else's swimsuit.

….... .. …. ...... .......... ... … ....… ........ ... ...... .......... .....

Oh! Mm-mm... I see... Really?! Whoa, I didn't know that!

Steph turned to the rest of you to relay what she had just heard.

The Marchioness said that she was something of a biologist when she was younger, and it seems like the Basseal population is split into many factions, each one with a slightly different tail marking, which you can see here.

Steph grabbed onto a Basseal on deck and flipped it upside down to demonstrate its fishtail marking, warranting a loud and angry hiss from the one she grabbed.

EEE! S-sorry!

She bowed to the Basseal several times, who ended up flopping over to @Toko @Imoogi @Askera Question @Rael @Kamala Graham to get away from Steph. The Basseals were particularly friendly to Imoogi (RNG chosen) whether she wanted it or not. Maybe the doom and gloom attracted them.

Steph heart cracked into two and her body became like a statue. She had always liked animals, but maybe it wasn't meant to be...

A-ha... a-anyways, the Basseals onboard are basically different than the ones we've caught, and the Marchioness mentioned that as long as we keep making them happy, we can ride them! There are only five, though, so everyone should take turns.

It wasn't easy to read the old lady's expression, but it seemed as though the Marchioness was happy as she nodded affirmatively to how her message was relayed.

While the rest of the group continued fishing, Steph walked around the ship, looking to maintain morale.

(Her first stop was @Tyr.)

Hey! I'm sure the kitchen could use that seaweed to spice up someone's lunch!

Seeing @Luthien, the Conqueror, so fired up Steph gave her an affirming thumbs up.

(She pumped her fist toward @Ayna Nietzsche's direction.)

Keep going! Ay-ay-ayna!

(And to @Druid, she tried a similar cheer.)

Keep going! Da-rood-eed! O-oh err... that doesn't roll off the tongue very smoothly...

(@Hyakin Heliodoros, however, rolled very smoothly off the tongue.)

Let's go! Hai-ah-kin! You can do it, Hai-ah-kin!

To @Moonsong, who claims that Basseals are cute and immediately caught one, Steph had a
panik.png
face as she slowly slinked away.
To the gang that was feeding and playing with the friendly Basseals (@Toko @Imoogi @Askera Question @Rael @Kamala Graham), she could only
sad.png
. But, most of all, she was envious of Imoogi, who received all of the attention from the cute creature.

(When she saw @Mari Yamazakura dangling overboard, she peeked her head over and asked.)

Umm... are you okay?! Do you need me to pull you up?

(And to Nin (@Pandora* who caught her own hat, she waved.)

Nin nin, from the MIT, right? Not sure if you remember me, but we've passed by each other more than once. Do you want to walk around with me and hook people's swimsuits off? I'm that terrible, aha!

(Finally, to @Ilusa Nakhalee, who was the first person to catch a Basseal, gold coins jingled in her head.)

Ohoho! Young lady! I see that you possess exceptional skills in catching things of great value. How would you like to catch other things of great value with me after this... if I'm not imprisoned for embezzling afterward? I've been looking for Fate Cards of great value!

(Narrator: If Steph missed you, I'm sorry, there are too many people!)

While your group continued fishing and socializing, the pirate ship pulled up once more, anchoring right beside the Imperial Petunia.

YARGHAHAHA! Ye again?! While ye all are playing with yer Basseals, we be fillin' our ships with a mountain yet again!

YARGHAHAHA!?

(The pirate captain stopped mid-laugh to listen to a report being discretely delivered to him.)

Yarrgh, fun time's over, gotta go!

And with that, the pirate ship sped away. Something had spooked them.

It didn't take your group long to figure out what had happened. A few minutes after the pirate sped off, one of the lookouts alerted the rest of your crew that there is a raider ship on the horizon, which signaled the end of the fun time... or is it perhaps an opportunity to pull ahead of the competing pirates?

The sea shakes
Raiders in the distance

Ah-um, everyone, it seems like we, possibly, might be behind the pirate's catch. And while we should probably get away from the Sea Raiders... considering that even the pirates don't want to mess with them...

I say, boo to that! This... this is an opportunity for us to catch up, comrades!

Surely, a Sea Raider ship would bring with it plenty of rare fish that they had plundered from other sea travelers.

Now I'm no thief, but desperate times call for desperate measures.

To beat the pirates, we must become pirates... It's time for a different kind of fishing.

(She quickly donned an eyepatch and signaled the scout up on the lookout to swap the ship's flag to a plain black one.)

The reel of Fate was turning, and the open seas were teeming. In and out, the adventurers went, diving into the waters with their brightly-colored swimsuits, their long limbs and powerful bodies propelling them ever faster towards the bounty of the Sea Raiders, ready to seek victory over an entirely separate group of oceanborne robbers through crime rather than technique.

But the ocean didn’t care. The ocean…hungered.

And when such exotic morsels of meat willingly tossed themselves into the waves, ineffectually floundering about with their unwebbed appendages, what could the ocean do but respond in kind to this most generous of gifts?

@Moonsong, diving deep, saw it first. Rising from the fathoms, bulbous eyes gleaming like twinned moons, suckered limbs reaching out from those silhouetted by surface-light!

Anime. Swimsuits. Summer.

What else could be next, except for…

OOC
Diving into the oceans to plunder the Raiders just got a whole lot tentaclely-er. Though fighting a Kraken underwater is a death sentence, fending off its tentacles will ensure that you make it back aboard your own ship. But, on the other hand...
  • When failing the Plunder action, you are considered to be snagged up by the Kraken's tentacles. Tag someone in the Discord to get them to release you in their next post as a Bonus Action. Or free yourself in your own next post as a Bonus Action.
  • No extra fish will be lost. It is punishment enough to get tentacled as flavor.
  • Alternatively, instead of rolling, you may decide to...Go Nuclear (0/10) and lure the Kraken to your competitors' ship. Laden with fish as they are, the Kraken would certainly target them once it becomes aware...
  • ...but if all the rules of this competition were to be broken, could it truly be considered a competition? How could you look Steph in the eye if you were to so flagrantly sabotage your honorable, criminal rivals and win through scoundrel-y means?

For a second, Steph was beginning to sweat real hard when her allies started to lure the Kraken toward their true competitor, the Pirates. In this way, they weren't completely going against the spirit of the competition, which would have broken her little heart. But at the same time, it doesn't exactly get them any closer to winning the overarching competition.

In any case, Steph was--BONK!!!

OOF!

She was bonked by a fish that came down at her with unbelievable velocity.

When she got up, she cast a horrified expression over at @Luthien, w-what does that elf have against her?! Will Steph, too, end up like the Basseal she clubbed? Is Luthien the Conqueror gunning for her? Fright set in, Steph was in made-up danger!

She shook her head. As the captain of her ship, this was the time for her to steph up and be a leader.

Everyone! I know I was the one who got us into this mess by stealing from the Sea Raider, but please!

Even if we go nuclear and direct the Kraken's attention to the Sea Raider, we shouldn't let them die at the many hands of the Kraken! They may be the scum of the earth, but even they deserve mercy!

If you can, join me in rescuing them afterward and throw them into jail!

Story Decision

If you would like to go and rescue the ship-wrecked Sea Raider crew after the nuclear option is complete. React with
yes.png
. If you want to leave the Sea Raider crew to their fate, react with a

The vote result will play out off-screen in the next cycle.

As your group was in a panic over the sudden introduction of a grown-ass Kraken while they attempted some thievery at Stephanie's behest, many of them opted to take the nuclear option and tried to shift the Kraken's attention onto your rival, the pirates. Somewhere along the way, the plan went awry, and it led to all sorts of ruckuses to lure the Kraken to the Sea Raiders' ship instead while a few of your group continued to plunder the rare fish from the Raider's hold.

After the Kraken's attention had shifted, it hurled any suckers attached to its suckers away before it retracted its limp into the water. Those aboard the Imperial Petunia would have seen a dark silhouette disappear momentarily before it appeared beneath the Raiders' ship.

@Cynna @Fina Drago @Hanno Futaba @Ayna Nietzsche @Luthien @Toko @Jester @Celestine @Moonsong @Imoogi, if any of you were still on the Raiders' ship at that time, you would have seen the Kraken's limbs violently emerged from the sea and surrounded the Raiders' ship. There would have been a brief window to make your escape before the tentacles wrapped around the ship and gave it a tight death embrace as it slowly pulled the vessel downward.

Many among the Sea Raiders panicked as the ship began to sink with the Kraken. The smart ones immediately abandoned the ship while the greedy ones remained aboard, looking to hoard some of the treasure before they jumped. Their gambit didn't pay off, however, and they would have made a nice snack for the sea terror.

While the Kraken was preoccupied with its prey, Steph had the crew pull up near the wreckage and rescue as many of the bait and stranded Sea Raiders as she could. It went without saying that she and the crew threw the Raiders into the jail cells at the bottom of the Petunia.

Steph wiped away the sweat from her brows, relieved that they had managed to avert disaster at the last second.

Seeing that the difficulty of the plundering and having to wrestle with the Kraken had brought morale down, she reached into her bag and pulled out a glowing prismatic card. It seemed rare. The redhead glanced longingly at it for at least a minute before she shuffled it into a prismatic bag, drew the string together, and gave it a good shake before she opened it once more.

@Luthien, it seemed like Steph was in a hurry since even though she had… reservations about you, she rushed to your side and presented you with the bag.

This is my special ability, there are cards that spawn all over the world for me to find. Some cards materialize from my friendship with others.

The golden card I shuffled into the bag earlier is called the Seeker Arrow of Sagittarius

, and if it's pulled, it will guide us to where we want. It could point us to where we can gather fish more easily. It's our only hope left to win over the pirates without flat-out trampling on the spirit of the competition.

The catch is that we only have one shot since every time I shuffle a rare card into the bag, I only have one pull, and the bag will go on a cooldown for the next 24 hours. So uh… The fate of our competition rest in your hand…!

Luthien obliged (at @RizuChan's discretion) and reached inside, pulling out a…?

In Luthien's hand was a prismatic card with a centaur archer drawing his bow. It glowed with a prismatic radiance, unlike anything the elf might have seen in the game up until then.

The card disintegrated as a celestial centaur manifested in thin air, drawing its bow and loose an arrow toward the horizon.

Steph quickly ran toward the head of the ship and pointed at the trail of prismatic light.

OOOAH! Y-you did it! It's the legendary pull!!!

We need to follow that light, stat!!!

The ship headed out at Steph's command, chasing after the fading light.

After an hour of travel, the Petunia arrived at a gargantuan corral reef out in the middle of the sea, one abundant with sea life of all different types.

OOOAH! BLARUGHA! It's a fish haven!!! Everyone! Put on your snorkeling gear! You know what to do!

After a long day of fishing, clubbing, plundering, going nuclear, and snorkeling, the sun was finally setting, marking the end of the competition as the sea was getting too chilly for diving.

As agreed upon, Steph asked @Imoogi and @Askera Question to devise her a flare bomb and @Brutus Dahlgren or another person with Pyromancy to launch it as high as they could. It took no more than 30 seconds for you and your group to see a flare flying up from the far horizon. It had to be the pirates' reply.

Using the sporadic flares, the two ships navigated toward one another until they were side by side.

What have ye been doing the entire day? Ye ship STILL look a lil light, YARGHAHAHA!

Let's get to countin' now. Ye count, we count, both piles twice over. ARGHT! Matherson Oneleg, getta counting!

Do we have a Matherson Twoleg on our side who is good at counting?

(She looked around and asked.)

When someone volunteered, Steph followed them to the pile, anxious about the result.

After the last rare fish had been accounted for, the counters announced the result. 103 for the pirates and 108 for the Petunia.

ASFDAKLA! I'M NOT GOING TO PRISON!

HHHRGH! Me eyes be trinkin' me, Matherson, COUNT AGAIN!

(He clubbed his subordinate with a dead Basseal.)

No matter how many times Matherson counted, the result was the same. The Petunia had won by a mere five rare fishes.

AAAAAAAARGH! Bloody stinking mermaid, you've won. A challenge is a challenge. What do ye want again?

Well, we would like to meet Goldbeard William!

WHARG? You want to kill me grandpirapy? Over me dead body!

No! The lovely old lady there would like to meet her old crus-WHAT?! Goldbeard is your grandpa?

Yargh… are ye blind, red child? How do ye not see that me beard is blond…

Fueeeh... but you don't even have a beard...

Anyways. If ye aren't going to kill them, then I guess it be okay.

Matherson, get Grandpirapy.

When the one-legged pirate returned, an elderly pirate followed him up to the deck, slowly hopping onto the Petunia. He was stick-thin, with hair and beard as white as snow. It was a far cry from the Goldbeard of old, though his highly-decorative pirate attire said otherwise.

When he noticed the Marchioness up on the second deck, he flashed her a toothy smile. "Mari! It be a long time!"

The old woman opened her eyes for the first time since the trip began as she welled up with tears.

… …. .......... ... … .. …… …..…!!!

"Yarha! I've missed you too!" Goldbeard replied as he slowly made his way to the woman where he helped her up as they embraced. "Yarg, have I got a story for you…"

The two entered their own world.

A single tear came to Steph's eyes as she spun around and saluted you.

Thank you for embarking on this journey with me! To celebrate our victory and a happy ending for the Marchioness, let's have a fish party with the pirates and launch fireworks while we get back to land to celebrate the end of summer!!!

YARGH! Insolent red child! There are some rare fish that would fetch a hefty price here, and you want to do wha—MMMFFFH!

Steph stopped the pirate captain from rambling by shoving a plate of @Hanasakura Okami's sushi into his face. Although he was as red as a boiled lobster at first, the exotic cuisine astounded him.

DELICIOUS!!!

Fine, just for today, we PARTY!!!

Steph leaned against the railing on the third deck, overlooking the group that had ended up going on the exciting trip with her with a big smile on her face. Even though she had to expend one of her rarest gacha cards, the end result was worth it, and she would have done it again if she had to. After all, things are temporary, while the bonds one makes on one's journey will last a lifetime if properly maintained.

Steph happily grabbed some of the food the homemakers made and were being served by the butler-looking Knight (@Hyakin Heliodoros). However, with such a large selection to choose from, with the likes made by @Toko @Chrys @Hyakin Heliodoros @Cidney Cometfall and @Cynna, the redhead struggled. She ended up going with @Toko's dish since it stood out and steered clear of @Cynna's.

While she munched on the scrumptious morsels as she watched @Ilusa Nakhalee's brilliant firework and @Haru's expert water show. Though theirs were the ones that stood out the most, the firework show put on by everyone else in combination turned it into something even more breathtaking with ones launched by @Kamala Graham @Brutus Dahlgren @Ariweyn Laundale @Askera Question @Imoogi and @Ronja Bubblyfoot. The firework was even better with a water show put on by @Luthien @Charlotte Ann Marie and @Haru.

Everyone!

Thanks to you all, Astorea doesn't owe the pirate an insane amount of gold, the Marchioness got her wish fulfilled, and we got a fun trip out of it!

Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart! I hope we can be friends and let's keep in touch occasionally!

~ ✦ ~

Meanwhile, the pirate captain helped himself to a good drink as he leaned down and looked at @Charlotte Ann Marie in the eyes.

YARGHAHAHA! So that was ye huh. I like ye, little sea urchin. How'd ye like to do seasonal work for me crew?

We already got some work for ye, yarhaha.
