Personality
Emma was born with an almost insatiable curiousity. As a child, she would jump at the chance to explore any newfound passions and hobbies, joining any and all clubs that welcomed her into their ranks. She made friends with ease and was, in many regards, a popular student among her peers.
Although her energetic demeanor and outgoing personality would wane over the years, her enthusiasm has ever remained the same. Her inquisitive nature does occasionally land her in unintended trouble, coming off as persistent and stubborn, and sometimes even a bit crass.
She is a hard worker and was named "Most Likely to Succeed" in her high school yearbook.
Positive: Genuine, Well-mannered, Resourceful
Negative: Idealistic, Cautious, Bashful
Background
Emma had settled on the idea of becoming a journalist early on - in no small part due to her involvement with her high school's newspaper club. She had always admired the live coverage of the daily news broadcasts that her father would watch every night, dressing up as her favourite reporter for Halloween and reporting on the family dog's pregnancy with as much sensationalism as a 10-year-old could muster.
As she entered college at the age of 18, Emma felt ready to take on the world. Her first year went by in the blink of an eye; the lessons were fun and the teachers likeable. After some encouragement from her seniors to earn some practical experience, she picked up a part time job as a writer for a small news blog, writing such memorable articles as "10 Reasons Your Chihuahua Hates Your Dad" and "16 Ways To Win Your Teacher's Heart (Non-romantically)."
Emma left the position not long after.
She wanted to be a journalist. She wanted to be in the field, interviewing people, reporting on things that were both relevant and important. Maybe even do a bit of digging. Not work as some click-bait article factory typist. When the topic of her finals came up towards the end of the semester, she very quickly decided that she had to go all in or not at all.
