He had yet to go to the beach in game, and even out of game it had been years since his last trip to the beach. His father wasn't ever really one for frivolities. And they had no businesses or companies on the shoreline, instead keeping to the major cities so that's where they stayed. So once he got the opportunity and quest to head out of the capital to the waterline, he took it. A small quest or at least it seemed like, to go fishing and bring back a certain number of fish. And the better the quality the better the reward, which he could only imagine was the chef cooking it for him. Mouth watering and drooling internally, he wiped his mouth, with a small smile, fishing rod on his shoulder. The crunch of leather boot on dirt road changed to the smush of the soft white sands, paired with the tantalizing smells of the open skies and salty ocean air. A cleansing experience that relaxed one just for being present.

Glancing around there were only a few figures here in the early morning, though one in particular caught his eye. A pretty beastfolk a bit down the way watching the tide. But never one to bother others, or impose himself he just set his line and cast it into the water starting the long and patience testing process that was fishing. There was no deadline on the quest so, he could be here all day. Thankfully with the way things were preserved in their inventories he didn't have to worry about things spoiling.

Juniper had been to the beach plenty of times in the real world. It was, perhaps, one of her favorite places to visit. The smell of the air, the sand between your toes, and the feel of the water were unlike anything else. She believed that if they had lived even closer to the ocean there was no doubt that she would have picked up surfing or some other kind of sport involving the sea. When she first saw the quest, the location was what stood out to her the most. Before even looking at what the quest entailed, she accepted it.

That was how she found herself there a short while later, with a fishing pole over her shoulder, and her toes digging into that warm sand. The only problem with the quest? She had never gone fishing. She didn't even know where to start! Surprisingly, it didn't look like many people had picked up the quest just yet. Most of the people here were just relaxing under the sun or in the cool water. She blinked as she looked around, holding a hand up to shield her eyes from the glare of the sun.

There. There was one other who also held a fishing pole. Not one to shy away from going up to others, she walked over near him, waiting for him to get set up before encroaching further into his space. "Hi, there! I'm Juniper." She nodded to the fishing pole that he had before continuing on, her tail moving slowly behind her as the ears on her head perked forward towards him. "You wouldn't have happened to also pick up the fishing quest did you?" She jostled the one that she held. "I'm...kinda lost on how to get started."

Oh. Oh. Oh. She approached him. Blinking he turned to face towards the foxgirl as she loudly introduced herself. While it wasn't an energy he could easily match, he could at least be just as friendly. Or at least attempt to. "Hi, I'm Hayate. Nice to meet you." His eyes moved to the fishing pole in hand as she gestured towards it with her head, before returning back to her slightly distracted by the tails fluttering and moving behind her. Did Beastfolk move their parts consciously? Subconsciously?

Still gripping the rod with his dominant right hand, his left raised up to scratch behind his head at her question as he thought. "Uh, yea I did. Well which one did you pick up actually. There are several. Did you get the collection request or the hunting one? And did you get bait?"

Depending on which, she'd have to do different things and be at different areas. It was....weird to him being more knowledgeable than other players. Certainly not something he was used to, he could only hope that he was able to help her and not make it harder for her to do her quest. That would be a downer. At least he could be sure no one had failed as many quests as he had. He had plenty of mistakes to learn from.

Hayate. What a nice name. For a brief moment, the thought flickered across her mind that he could be from Japan too Maybe she could ask him that later if he continued helping her, that is. The smile she wore only grew as he spoke, satisfied that he was interacting with her and not just ignoring her as some people had done before. She lifted the fishing rod off her shoulder, letting it drop slightly to her side. There were several fishing ones? Damn. She'd have to eventually go back for the other one, but for now, she could at least focus on the one she got.

Hell, if he helped her enough, maybe she wouldn't need help for the hunting one.

"I got the collection request. It seemed simple enough." She raised her hand to scratch the side of her head. "I wasn't wrong about that, was I?" For the briefest moment, her happiness seemed to wean for a bit. If it was more difficult than she originally thought then her time here would be wasted. Though...with a glance at Hayate, perhaps it wasn't a complete waste. Maybe she'd leave here with a new friend?

She went through her inventory, shuffling past some of the more mundane items before pulling out the bait that had been recommended to her by a shopkeep. "I have this?" Hopefully, the worms were good enough. They had been the cheapest bait at the store, but they had to work to some degree, right?

At least she had the foresight or at least the attention span to either get the rod from the quest giver, or maybe she bought it herself? It was a better attempt than his first when he showed up at the beach with no tools besides his bow. And bow fishing he discovered, was both harder than it looked and something he was terrible at. He nodded at her statement, because it was true.

"If so all you have to do is keep fishing until you get the required number and rarity. Other than that? Keep the extras to turn in as well. Always different sources looking for fish."

Looking at the container full of the worms he thought for a moment scratching the back of his head, holding his fishing rod with the other. It, should be fine. Most fish took worm, especially the smaller ones, which would be good for the girl since she was new at this. Hooking a bigger fish might just land her in more trouble than she was expecting.

"Worms are good, most use them for freshwater fishing rather than salt. But they are still good for bass and trout. Mostly the quest is about luck and patience. Hope you brought something to do while you wait."

It seemed more simple than it should be. She just had to sit here and keep fishing? That was really all it took? Hmm. Maybe she'd finish this quest quicker than she originally thought it would take. Though, that really did depend on how fast the fish would take to the bait. What if she brought the wrong stuff out? Hayate would tell her, right? There's no way that he wouldn't and just have her waste her time on something that wasn't going to work at all.

Ah, there were the fated words. This was a quest at the beach, not at a lake. Looks like she did get the bait situation wrong. "People use smaller fish as bait for larger fish...right?" She thought that she had seen that somewhere. Maybe, if she was lucky enough, she could use these worms to catch smaller fish that she could use to catch the bigger ones. That'd take a lot of work though, and she wasn't sure how long she really wanted to spend on this quest.

Though, with what he said next, she paused. She didn't bring anything with her. But she could practice using her abilities. At least, as long as people weren't annoyed by that. She could see it being a bother to most people, especially if they came here to relax. "Ahh, I...didn't." However, "You wouldn't mind some company as you complete it too, would you?" Maybe she could use this time to get to know Hayate better. She hadn't made many friends in this game yet!
