Kamala never thought she'd reach this far in the game. When she died for the first time, she almost called it quits. Why would she risk her life playing such a deadly game when her life was beautiful and full of joy? Sometimes, she still asks herself that question. But not today, not at this moment, because there was another question that was more important than that. At least for this very moment.

"So, like, what's our plan, guys? You guys have a plan, right? Right?"

The elf stared at both of her companions, both better warriors than her, waiting for one or either of them to chase away her fears and her concerns and her doubts with a display of their determination, a show of strategy, or something, anything, along those lines. As of this moment, Kamala was feeling a little jittery and worried. The things underneath her skin would not stop buzzing and skittering.

"Do you both remember what we did during that fight with the Leviathan? Might also work here."

Chrys flashbacked to that time when they were faced with a massive monstrosity from the depths of the seas and how efficient they were in fending it off until it grew tired of them. Sure, @Ayna Nietzsche got swallowed at one point but that was probably not the first time someone got a bad stomachache because of her. All in all, it was a pretty efficient use of their abilities, as if they were functioning as a well-oiled machine of a team for the very first time.

"Basically, I'll protect either or both of you when needed. Otherwise, I'll put dirt in Szofrit's eyes to distract her. I take it Ayna's hitting everything with multiple attacks, if she's not recklessly putting herself in danger? Of course, Kamala's going to heal and buff at the backline. These are what we're good at. These are what will keep us alive."

Chrys was second-guessing taunting his enemies this time around. What has it gotten him so far? Seemed to him like a whole lot of work, and risk, for not that much gain. Hindering and protecting it is, then!
Ayna could actually play the second healer if need be, but he reckoned it wouldn't be that much of help compared to her just throwing everything she's got at the magia villians. @Kamala Graham was going to Kamala, which was a blessing for the both of them, the human and the magia. Still...

"If you want to fight, Kamala, fight, but I think, and this is just my opinion, that you're a much better healer than a fighter, maybe even the best healer in this game at the moment. The reverse could be said for Ayna: She's a much better fighter than healer."

He waited to hear their respective responses. Whatever path the girls chose, he'd support them, as they've never failed to support him. Well, Kamala more than Ayna, but same thing. Besides, it was just his opinion, and Kamala did ask for it. Well, she asked for a plan, but same thing.

"We might need to be more quick on our toes this time around, though, so there's that..."

Ayna felt a little weird, agreeing with @Chrys, but he had the right idea. They did some stuff better than they did the rest. They should stick to what they did best.

"Yeah, what Chrys said..."

She shook her head at the memory of being swallowed by that monstrous sea monster, chasing away the unsolicited nostalgia. Nothing felt worse at that moment than being inside the belly of the best, except maybe being turned into a puppet by that damned Szofrit.

"...Leviathan tactics..."

She also remembered the sacrifice @Kamala Graham continuously made of her own accord, proving over and over again, that among the three of them, she was the bravest and perhaps even the actual strongest. Ayna could stab and shock things until they themselves gave up and Chrys can withstand even the worst the worst could offer, but Kamala? Kamala would lay her life down for everyone else.

"...I stab and shock things, Chrys shields and throws rocks, and you, my most important piece of this weird three-way puzzle, keep everyone alive."

She turned to the massive mountain man with a glare and a raised eyebrow, a threatening gesture that meant he should keep Kamala alive...or else.

With both @Ayna Nietzsche and @Chrys getting along in front of her, Kamala was filled with determined vigor. How could the elf forget about that fight with the Leviathan? Through Tyldr's light, she kept swapping places with the Lightning Lancer of the Lament to keep her safe, swimming back and forth to their boat through cold and fear. It was an experience that she would always remember.

"Okay, all right, that sounds like a good plan to me! Just stick together and everything will be—"

Alas, even before the Verdant Rebirth could finish her statement, everything around her started to change. She could sense panic and fear, though whether from others or just herself, she didn't have time to figure it out. Soon, she was alone, and it seemed, that only darkness and death watched her in dreary anticipation of what comes next.

"—fine?"

Catching sight of @Chrys in front of them, Ayna turned to @Kamala Graham with a playful smirk, both of her hands on the elf's shoulder. She tried her best to put on a warm smile, trying her best to appear more positive than ever. How many times has she let the elf down? How many times has the elf been put in a terrible position just because the magia had the personality of a goblin during battle? Too many times. Ayna needed to make it up to Kamala as soon as this was over.

"I'll be right back, okay? That's a promise!"

As swift as a coursing river, with all the force of a great typhoon, with all the strength of a raging fire, the magia rushed past everyone else, the lightning-charged blade of her spear aimed at Szofrit's heart. Something was happening with their main antagonist, something that seemed otherwise painful, but Ayna ignored all that and focused on her personal vengeance.

Kamala held @Ayna Nietzsche's hands in her own, gripping them tightly, as the grace of Gwyndolainn flowed through her, an otherwise excessive torrent of healing, not unlike the excessive torrent of worry the elf was feeling for her friend. Ayna had died before, in this same battle, and Kamala feared it could happen again. Death was no laughing matter, even in such a game, and anyone who thought otherwise was fooling themselves.

But they're young. They think they have wisdom, and they do, in their own way, but the more experienced woman in me knows an ocean separates us that she can never quite cross.

"You better! अलविदा...for now."

Kamala could do nothing else but watch Ayna as she ran toward Szofrit, past @Chrys. She feared the worst but still hoped that the healing she gave her friend would see to her survival. The elf could only do so much, but from the looks of things, she wished she could do more.

I know better than anyone that the past doesn't simply stay in the past, that it repeats, and that one can only see it properly with time. Yet time does not heal all wounds. Not truly. Time is not absolute. Just like we all aren't.
