Stretching her arms to the blue skies above, the dazzling lady illusionist yawned with the voice of a fax machine. One passing by might wonder why her yawn sounded like a fax machine? The simple answer: it was time for Illusion Practice! Celestine had made a ritual-like tradition out of practicing her illusion weaving at the start of every morning. Just because the menu implied it was at max power didn’t mean she herself was at max proficiency, after all. Skill mattered, and you never knew when you’d need your voice to sound like a fax machine!
After the third try, Celestine nodded in satisfaction. That sounded close enough. Now that sound practice was over, it was time for scene painting. There were all sorts of challenges involved with this: believable environments, believable characters, believable sounds, and even the more minor sensations like the smells of armor or the subtle feel of terrain.
She cracked her knuckles, tongue playfully stuck out on the side on her mojth. This was the fun part!
Suddenly, the green fields of Solvale vanished around her, replaced with scorched earth. To the side of Vintergard stood an army of half-mechanized soldiers: rough and crazy in the eyes! They stared down Finweald and licked their lips (or at least those who still had lips), prepared to fight for the ultimate prize of mechanizing that great city.
In between this army of magia mooks and the last great encampment of the free-minded world, stood a great and shining army: Human, Elf, Faerin, and overly-cute catgirl supports, all standing united against this great evil!
"Now for the leader…" Cel murmured to herself, imagining what sort of great and powerful warrior should lead this great army oh hardened elites. It would have to be someone powerful… charismatic… relatable…
"That is the good look to me… ehehe, so cute~" she giggled, wearing a stupidly wide grin as her precious little hero stood proud in front of her army. "And now to do it the villain…" The two armies paused, ominously staring at each other, frozen in time as if waiting for their illusionist to press PLAY.

"C-c-captain!! I can’t believe it, t-t-there… there’s a whole ARMY! TWO of them!! Right outside Finweald!! We have to alert everyone, now!"
"Hold on a sec…"
"…!?"
"Yeah, just ignore that."
"WHAT!? But captain, that’s a whole army! And they look like they’re messed up with some of those crazy Vintergard machines!!"
"You must be new. See that lady over there with the flashy hair?"
"Uhh… her!?"
"Yeah, they’re illusions. She does this sort of thing every few days. We tried telling her to knock it off and quit scaring people, but she‘s pretty stubborn. Just ignore them and they’ll go away eventually."
"What? That’s seriously disruptive! Why not arrest her!?"
"We tried, actually. We ended up arresting a stray dog. It’s not that bad anyway, most of us are used to it by now…"
