Welcome to my DM sourcebook! Here you'll find information on challenges I've run and how I run them.

As a DM I favor light homebrew and a more semi-freeform style, but I'll do freeform or complex mechanics as the mood strikes me. I'm fond of both lighthearted comedy and physical/psychological horror, and I'll clearly tag when a challenge is one or the other.

Joining Challenges

DM Challenge applications are on a first-come first-serve basis.

After participating in a challenge, characters enter a "cooldown" period. While in cooldown, they have reduced priority in consecutive challenges. If more players than slots apply for a challenge, characters in cooldown will have their application dropped.

Players leave cooldown once they miss or skip a challenge.

Campaign Focus

Players may choose a campaign to be their character's focus. A character with a focus does not enter cooldown after challenges relating to their focus, but have negative priority in any other challenge.

A player can choose to change their character's focus, but this will put all of their characters in cooldown, including those with a focus. Characters cannot change focus when there is an interest check or challenge sign-up active.

To choose or change a character's focus, message me with the details.

Checkpoints

Checkpoints record certain achievements and progress points within a campaign. They are primarily advanced through completion of DM Challenges, but certain checkpoints can be unlocked via quests or personal threads.

Checkpoints can track general campaign progress or the influences and achievements of certain players. The effects of reaching checkpoints vary, but will often unlock benefits for future challenges within a campaign.

Protean Pastures is a Starcalled-owned ranch located in Solvale. It focuses on breeding and selling unusual animals and animal products that appeal to nobility and adventurers alike. Though a shrewd businessman, its owner lacks much restraint when it comes to “breeding” new livestock, resulting in all kinds of hijinks when they inevitably escape.

The Paper Oubliette is a labyrinthine library located in the Hylands Ascent infested with powerful magic. Though long sealed, it has recently begun to actively interact with the world, drawn by the “stories” created and shared by the Starcalled.

Within the library lie countless books, their stories crying to be told. Will you bring them the ending they seek?

      • A group of Starcalled are sent into the newly discovered Oubliette after the first expedition fails to return. Within they find a place filled with fraying magic and living books. After felling the floor's guardian, they are able to save the trapped expedition and make contact with the library's mysterious keeper.

Task Force Kugelblitz (TFK) is a joint operation between the MIT and Lions’ Pride tasked with containing and neutralizing arcane threats of Starcalled origin. They also monitor threats with a high potential of being exploited by Starcalled.
