Darkness. Just an empty void, with a basic virtual graph for a floor, and an endless space before her. Just like so many VR games these days, yet from what she’d read about it and seen on the advertisement, clearly much more was going to be in store for her.

The room shifts, and the spectacled girl with blackened hair in an outfit reminiscent of a school uniform had found herself in now what was a grey room, filled with various windows and options. Above them, on what she assumed was her HUD, read:

Welcome to TerraSphere!
Please, create your avatar here, and then press Name to continue!

”…Hm.”

Walking up to the open interface, the girl begins to flick through various options, starting with the basics. Gender, height, weight, skin color, eye color, hair…

“…Race?”

Clicking on the tab, it pulled up a few interesting options.
“Human, the default. Elf, mainstream. Faerin? Oh, fairies… no. Magia seem like magical robots; I wonder if they operate like Warforged, or if it’s just a common similarity? Either way, not my style. Beastfo—“

The girl’s glasses reflected with an odd chill of decisive action, and she didn’t hesitate for even a half of a second before she had selected the race, already filling out the rest of her character’s information at blinding speeds. As soon as she did so, she pressed the Name button, hearing an AI voice echo in her ears.

“what would you like for your avatar’s name to be?”

“…Seris.”

Not long after, a bright light passed over Eastern Brisshal, as a girl landed in the forest approximately two miles from town.

Stepping out of the brush, she wore the basic starting robes, and her hair was a faded blue, wild and disheveled, with two Lynx ears perked up from the locks. Opening her eyes, both a silvery blue and adorning slit pupils, the neko girl’s calming gaze took a moment to examine the surroundings.. her eyes shifted to a faint gold, as she activated the Investigation feature from her UI, and she took in everything that she could as she slowly walked through the forest.

“…Hm. Eastern Brisshal… in the land of Falderen. From the looks of things, the world map seems to be quite extensive,” she stated while thinking aloud, scrolling through her UI as she walked toward town.

hmm? that certainly wasn't a familiar appearance. sure, zhulong had talked to herself about expecting to see strangers that looked vastly different from the appearances and attire of what she knew from the real world, and yet it still surprised her to spot another with brightly colored hair, especially contrasting the environment in the way that made them stand out. she'd stopped, in her thoughts, realizing a strange irony in having processed it the way she did, two fingers playing with a lock that draped over the side of her face. hers was no different, she recognized. but, surely, a reflective silver would've stood out less than light blue...?

her pace only quickened, if only out of curiosity. because half of her steps were towards the nearby settlement, and she'd fallen out of her intended speed, having stalled from earlier. but the more important question to address was who this stranger was.

if her previous meetings were anything to go by, strangers around these parts seemed to be friendly. and what was it about anonymity? it allowed others to be their true selves?

"hello," she'd call out, wondering if the other person would turn around. her steps slowed, then, once she spoke out. to her, fluffy pointed ears and tail likely meant a beastfolk of some kind, though zhulong wasn't familiar with animals enough to pinpoint a species of sorts. "i was wondering if you knew where maithe's rest was. are you headed there? i believe we might be going in the same direction."

the player blinked twice, before the thought of an introduction crossed her mind. "oh! my apologies, i forgot to give you my name. that feels a bit rude. i'm zhulong. um... what should i call you?"

Hearing the sudden voice of someone nearby, the feline ears on the girl’s head perked, ruffling her hair slightly as she turned to look at the recipient.

Another player, already?

Seris took a moment to analyze the woman standing now next to her. On an estimate, around one hundred and seventy centimeters, silver hair, slender and acrobatically built. It wasn’t long before the blue haired girl had caught sight of one thing that had especially stood out to her; the small, nubbish antlers on the woman’s head, of which Seris had instinctually fought back an instinctive urge to try and reach up to feel them. They were complimentary to the taller woman’s appearance, and also—

“—Cute.”

After a moment, Seris had realized that she had said that aloud; instead of reacting with embarrassment, however, she simply rolled with it. After all, it was true, and she felt like she shouldn’t apologize for it. “Maithe’s Rest? I haven’t been to that area before. I’ve just started playing, so I’m currently limited on knowing where any of the locations are,” she admitted. “However, if you’re heading there and wouldn’t mind my presence, I could accompany you?”

Then, as the other girl had introduced herself, Seris tilted her head in slight confusion at first, before giving a small yet genuine smile. Something frankly rare for the neko girl to express, in real life or in-game. “No apologies necessary, I didn’t consider it rude at all. Likewise, my name is Seris,” she responded, giving Zhulong a formal bow. “It’s a pleasure to meet you, Zhulong.”
