Okata had arrived in Hovelis with the help of the wonderful system of offline travel. He had spent the rest of the evening and night by asking around, weaselling out titbits of 'secrets' and information. After which, he climbed onto one of the numerous, colourful trees and logged out.
Today, Okata logged back in as soon as they finished schoolwork; which in America was so easy it was a breeze. Okata stayed on the tree for few moments, getting used again to this much different body, before slithering down the trunk and with a skip in their steps walked closer to the centre of the outpost-turned-village, waving happily with their long-sleeves (carefully maintaining a less unsettling expression on their face) at the few people they talked with yesterday.
Skipping onwards, they spotted a newcomer; with colourful hair and pointy ears, the newcomer was identified as an elf. Okata was too far away to hear what was being said, but their eyes were very good and so they observed and watched. Not only the elf but also the widow that was talking to him. The woman, from what they gathered, was not one for easy smiles and yet there she was, smiling at the elf, who too was smiling.
Curious, Okata stilled and watched some more, observing how the man softened the sharp features of the widow. And then a few kids ran past them and one tripped and was falling down; the elf immediately threw himself into saving the kid from a fall. ..And then there was some talk, some sad faces on kids and then he followed the kids.
Of course, Okata followed after them and was a witness to a scene of 'a hero climbing a tree and rescuing a kitten' – if the kitten was clearly a Terrasphere kitten that had some monster blood in its little body. And then he ended up helping with a broken wheel… And carrying some heavy stuff…
The man did so with an aura of kindness and goodness that was either expertly faked or genuine… Either way, this was it. "Bingo." The beastfolk hissed gently and then ambled closer, swinging the sleeves without care, as the man was also going forward, closer to Okata.
"Hello!" Stopping before the elf and waving at him, Okata was eager to make use of this very helpful elf. He had a sword and shield, so he would make a perfect meatshield as they will clean up the bandits.
"I'm looking for a party to clean up the Bandits before this village and you look just like a person to do it with!" A kind soul that could be taken advantage of was perfect as an ally. A kind soul that was obviously a tank, even more. A perfect meatshield that fell into their lap. They were not letting it go.
Tilting their head Okata raised one of their hands to their mouth, letting the sleeve hide the shape of the smile they wore.
"…You do know about the Bandits around here, right? And how the quest-giver wants them just beat up and alive?" Then Okata twirled, letting the sleeves spin, along with their skirt (that only teased and did not show anything, yes, it was absolutely on purpose like that) twirled, twirled… Before stopping and facing the elf, spreading their hands up.
"I'm Okata and I can't do it alone, please help!"
