Okata had arrived in Hovelis with the help of the wonderful system of offline travel. He had spent the rest of the evening and night by asking around, weaselling out titbits of 'secrets' and information. After which, he climbed onto one of the numerous, colourful trees and logged out.

Today, Okata logged back in as soon as they finished schoolwork; which in America was so easy it was a breeze. Okata stayed on the tree for few moments, getting used again to this much different body, before slithering down the trunk and with a skip in their steps walked closer to the centre of the outpost-turned-village, waving happily with their long-sleeves (carefully maintaining a less unsettling expression on their face) at the few people they talked with yesterday.

Skipping onwards, they spotted a newcomer; with colourful hair and pointy ears, the newcomer was identified as an elf. Okata was too far away to hear what was being said, but their eyes were very good and so they observed and watched. Not only the elf but also the widow that was talking to him. The woman, from what they gathered, was not one for easy smiles and yet there she was, smiling at the elf, who too was smiling.

Curious, Okata stilled and watched some more, observing how the man softened the sharp features of the widow. And then a few kids ran past them and one tripped and was falling down; the elf immediately threw himself into saving the kid from a fall. ..And then there was some talk, some sad faces on kids and then he followed the kids.

Of course, Okata followed after them and was a witness to a scene of 'a hero climbing a tree and rescuing a kitten' – if the kitten was clearly a Terrasphere kitten that had some monster blood in its little body. And then he ended up helping with a broken wheel… And carrying some heavy stuff…

The man did so with an aura of kindness and goodness that was either expertly faked or genuine… Either way, this was it. "Bingo." The beastfolk hissed gently and then ambled closer, swinging the sleeves without care, as the man was also going forward, closer to Okata.

"Hello!" Stopping before the elf and waving at him, Okata was eager to make use of this very helpful elf. He had a sword and shield, so he would make a perfect meatshield as they will clean up the bandits.

"I'm looking for a party to clean up the Bandits before this village and you look just like a person to do it with!" A kind soul that could be taken advantage of was perfect as an ally. A kind soul that was obviously a tank, even more. A perfect meatshield that fell into their lap. They were not letting it go.

Tilting their head Okata raised one of their hands to their mouth, letting the sleeve hide the shape of the smile they wore.

"…You do know about the Bandits around here, right? And how the quest-giver wants them just beat up and alive?" Then Okata twirled, letting the sleeves spin, along with their skirt (that only teased and did not show anything, yes, it was absolutely on purpose like that) twirled, twirled… Before stopping and facing the elf, spreading their hands up.

"I'm Okata and I can't do it alone, please help!"

Caliburns day had started with an unexpectedly angry widow harassing him about him having accidently knocked over a bushel of apples she'd left by her door. Thankfully, the lady wasn't really all that bad. Just a little sad and lonely, and short conversation, her dour features had shifted into what amounted to something that passed for a small smile.

After that, it had been catching a boy before he hit his head on the ground, which had somehow lead to him helping them get a kitten out of tree. Which then lead to helping fix a broken wheel (thank god Ashley was a resource and handy person) and then helping load the cart with it's cargo. All in all, a good day so far!

It was about then that a...boy? Girl? Person? A person skipped up to the man, quite cheerily, telling them all about a quest involving some bandit, and bringing them back alive.

Their skirt flared up momentarily, and Caliburn automatically averted his eyes, the clouds suddenly very interesting to the man as a faint red colored his cheeks.

"I'm Okata and I can't do it alone, please help!"

Was it safe to look now? It was safe to look now.

Eyes finally settling back on the peculiar human, Caliburn flashed them a bold smile. "Nice to meet you, Okata! My name is Caliburn," he introduced himself, jabbing his thumb into his chest. "And I'd be happy to help you out!" Bandits, capture orders. That seemed like a pretty run of the mill quest to him. "So, do we need to go pick up that quest somewhere?" the green-haired elf asked his new companion.

Okata noticed how the other turned away. It was really hard not to when he was so very obvious about it – looking up into the sky? It would be hard to miss that. That reaction was hilarious and so Okata planned to prance and use high kicks in some moments during the fight just for fun. High kicks and jumps definitely in the elf’s field of view.

“Hi Caliburn.” Okata smiled widely and rocked a bit forward and backward, only enough to not be still. They mussed bit on the name. It was a rather iconic name – the legend of King Arthur was spread all over the world. Sure, Excalibur was more famous, but Caliburn was there too. There was some old game with a female king Arthur where Caliburn was more prominent. It made them wonder – was there someone named Excalibur?

That train of thoughts was shoved away.

“Thank you~” Okata clasped their hands together, obviously thankful. Okata was very thankful, meat shield acquired!

“Hm? I picked it already!” Okata threw their hands up and raised one leg, to sort of show their excitement. And yes, Okata took advantage of their body to still rock on one leg. “We just need to bring back the weapons of the beat up Bandit’s as proof… Weee~eell, he did say that if we can convince them to stop their banditry with just words it’s fine too.” To be honest, Okata was bit annoyed that they are supposed to just beat the bandits up – such loss of the exp and loot.

Alas.

Moving both arms, Okata pointed towards east, swaying their hands hidden in the long sleeves. “Bandits are around the road there. Apparently. Five of them.” Okata spread fingers in their left hand as if showing the number ‘5’; but the fingers were still hidden under the long, long sleeves, giving only a vague outline of them.

“Let’s go Caliburn! The Bandits wait for poor victims. We must show them the error of their ways!” And thus Okata started to walk in the direction they had pointed.. Only to stop and swiftly turn to face him. “Wait, wai~ Maybe we should party first?”
