Maya has mellowed out considerably in the last four years (as evidenced by her name change reversal). Sometimes, it only takes one life-threatening event to grow up rather fast. Once, there was a girl who‘s life was ordinary in every way. That girl wished so desparately to be special that she changed her legal name and spoke like an alien. She wished so desperately to be special that she ran right into a crime zone, nearly getting shot… almost wishing she was, just for the attention.
But such events change a person over time. They make her ask, "what if it was me?" Life is short, and sometimes, the special people are the ones whose lives are the shortest.
