Personality
Catherine is obsessed with rules. Given her upbringing it is little surprise that she has a single-minded mentality when it comes to laws. While she allows herself the freedom to feel outside of questions involving such things, she has been described as cold and ruthless in her unflinching prusuit of correcting a wrong. That said, she only acts within the framework that she ascribes to, and obeys the limits placed upon her to the letter. This can work both ways, though, and she does not shy away from finding a merciful route if the situation calls for it so long as the demands of her rules are met.
When she's not observing the world through the lense of law, she is a remarkably happy person with a positive nature and a strong sense of faith. A bit nerdy at heart, she enjoys roleplay and commits to her role just as much as she commits to laws, which can be to her detriment sometimes. She can be brash, charming, petty, and even a little snide when she wants to be. Her smart remarks often surprise others and those reactions are the ones she likes the most.
A "mercedes"1, Catherine is a notorious womanizer to the point where she can't herself. She often finds herself in compromising and unflattering situations as a result of her personal magnetism and deep affection for the fairer sex. This can get her into a lot of trouble when it reflects poorly on her or those associated with her. Even so, it's hard to resist her nature, and at times her silly side can come out, offering flowers to every beautiful woman she meets and professing her love for them on the spot.
Ultimately her greatest fault, though, is her temper. Catherine is possessed of an inner anger that has only been amplified by the powers she gained by entering Terrasphere.

Background
Yara el-Farag was born to Alan Marel and Maye el-Farag in New York City out of a marriage of convenience. Maye wanted to leave her old life behind and Alan took advantage of the positive image that their relationship provided. A city-level politician, Alan was as corrupt as they came, dancing the line between moral ambiguity and organized crime as easily as sipping a drink. His willful disregard for society and laws played a huge role in Catherine's outlook on life. Her mother was not much better in that regard, enjoying the small fortune that Alan provided until the couple were both sent to prison for money laundering. She blames her father for corrupting her mother.
Catherine lived in a foster home for a year before immediately joining the navy. During that one year she was exposed a proper education and opportunities that she never had under her parent's thumbs. That craving lead to her seeking a scholarship through the navy. In the end, the rigid atmosphere of navy life, opportunity to travel, indifference to her corrupt parentage, and opportunities for promotion, lead her to stay in the navy for years. Eventually she was recommended for training to become a Navy SEAL and earned commendations as an operator until she retired when a stray bullet shredded her abdomen.
After leaving the SEALs she immediately went to university and studied a wide array of topics, finally settling on Religious Studies as an academic. She earned her doctorate, but ultimately was unable to use it due to a lack of demand for teachers in her field. She next applied to the New York Police Department but her application was denied behind the scenes because of her family's crimes. She eventually opened a personal training studio with her Navy credentials in New York and made a generous living training various well known personages. This lead to other problems as after years of repression she discovered her sexuality and suffered through training sessions while adhering to strict professional rules.
Looking for an escape during her downtime, she discovered Terrasphere and decided that she would experience the life of a knight. After creating her character, she consumed a large amount of lore, studying the world in an effort to fit in and discovered the Cult of Endra. The faith was so appealing to her that she legitimately converted to the religion.
