It had been a plan Mio had been writing up and plotting meticulously for a while. She had a lot of things already worked out, guard patrols, people who would be taking shifts, where they could be found and frequented. The layout of the building, entrances and escape routes, tools and resources available. She also looked deeply into other things, such as the owner of the target location, the identity of the one she was trying to find, as well as the one that would be most likely to interfere with her efforts. Mio had taken a few days to look into all of these things one way or another.

She had decided a time, a route, and a method of sabotaging the guards that would be on staff easily enough. With rogue arts, she made a few of them sick, and others she simply put back to sleep in their beds to ensure they wouldn't show up. Replacements would not only be hard to come by, but difficult to find any veteran staff. Unfortunately there was one that she couldn't take out ahead of time, a big name among the locals as a hard headed veteran guard but he could be dealt with inside. All Mio needed now was a partner and to wait, and she had the partner when she found Selene finally approach.

Waving the girl closer, Mio spread out her little hastily drawn map. It was a little too artistically done rather then functionally but Mio at least made it functional enough to properly illustrate their objective as she tried to share her plan. "We'll enter through this well here, the water way connects to the main building's basement water well. That will help us stay out of sight of the guards on the top. I took care of a lot of the guards before they showed up for work today so we need to make sure that we get in and out while they're still out of it and nobody thinks to replace them." Mio began to explain using a finger to describe their direction and where they would head. "From there, we need to go into the depths where they keep the bad prisoners, most of them are like the worst of the worst but it's also where they hide important people. We're going to be looking for this one." She spoke, placing down a second sheet of paper that looked as if it had been torn from a book. It featured another hand drawn picture, one of an older man with his hair line nearly completely receded, wild bushy eyebrows and a heavy beard and moustache. He looked like an old crazy inventor but Mio knew his identity as an aging military official well.

"Getting there should be easy... but we'll have to fight this guy. They call him 'Iron Hammer' he's one of the better guards in the place, but he shouldn't have much help." She explained once again laying down another page of a grizzled fighter, he looked like a classic mercenary, lots of scars around the face but with a strange hair cut that made him seem as if he had a flat head on top. He would be the dangerous guard to look out for. "I think that's it though... The plan is, we go in there, take care of this guy-- try not to kill him, then find this prisoner, ask him a few questions, and get out." She spoke nodding firmly.

Being called on for a job was certainly one way to repay a favor that she owed, Selene supposed as she approached Mio after having received the message calling for her assistance. When she approached, she was waved over to Mio and some kind of very artistic map, with the fox girl seeming to go over some kind of plan that she'd made, the Elf blinking as she stood there and began to be assaulted by words, eyes wide at the level of planning that this had seemingly taken. Whatever this was clearly mattered enough for Mio to put some serious effort into it, though she sytill wasn't exactly sure what she was doing here. She'd already proven that stealth was not exactly her strong suit.

"So uh, can I ask exactly why we're breaking into a prison to look for a prisoner? If he's even a prisoner? You said they hide important people in there, at least I think I heard you say that." She looked at the picture of their supposed target, some crazy inventor looking guy, kind of reminded her of Eggman or something like that by the looks of him. If the guy was particularly rotund, Selene figured that she wouldn't be able to stop herself from busting a gut and that would probably be the end of her.

Though by the sounds of it, this Iron Hammer guy would almost definitely be the end of her. He looked tough, judging by the picture that had been made of her. Selene wondered, would she even be able to take him out, apparently non-lethally at that, whilst also being able to not be killed herself? It'd be a pretty big gamble, especially since Mio had stated herself that she wasn't much of a direct fighter, which meant it'd likely be her vs the big guy, with the occasional assist. Of course, she hoped for different, but people didn't always get the things that they hoped for.

So she nodded with a small, worried look on her face for a moment, before she plastered over it with a grin. "Okay. Sounds like you've done most of the hardest work for this, though I do have one condition." She played with the hilt of her sword nervously. "If things start to go really wrong, I'm not going to throw my life away in the hopes of turning things around. I hope you understand when I say I really don't wanna die."

Nodding along, Mio tapped the paper with a finger while her tail swished and swayed. "Mhm, he's a VIP, a former military official, nothing high ranking, but they say when his commander died in battle he left behind his fortune and this guy's one of the few survivors. It's my best shot at finding it~" Mio mused, it was an off handed chance, but if there was a chance he could be persuaded, Mio would make it work. The man likely had something he wanted to do, she could try to break him out, or help him find it, as long as she could get a portion of the reward it would be worth it.

While the man wasn't particularly overweight or rotund, that was the look he had when not considering the large beard. The Iron hammer though was intimidating from his picture but it was important not to kill anyone, it was better to fail then to go on a murder spree inside. "We wanna make sure that nobody dies because if it's just a break in, everyone will be worried about a second one, but if it's a murder, people will try harder to catch us." Mio tried to explain, at least if it was non-deadly they would be able to smooth things over sooner.

Though hearing what Selene said, Mio almost punched her gently dead center with a chuckle. "Come on, neither of us are planning to die here. If either of us start to get into a dangerous spot, we'll cut and run that easy." She explained with a shrug and a brush of the hand. "Worse comes to worse, we leave through the well and try again through another route next time." She tried to offer thinking that this prison likely would end up the most broken into place if they kept failing. Hopefully all it would take is one go.

Well that was an interesting tale, former military official that vanished and left some kind of fortune behind with only some of his previous underlings being likely to know anything about it? That was a pretty cool quest that Mio seemed to have stumbled onto, even if it was going to involve some kind of prison heist or something along those lines. She didn't really care about the fact that she'd be working against the 'law' so to speak, it wasn't as if following the rules in a fictional game was really all that mandatory, but still, hopefully she had something to cover her face with in case they happened to get seen during this.

"Right, no murder makes sense. I'd rather not be a wanted criminal and if I am, I'd rather be wanted for breaking into a prison, rather than murdering a bunch of prison guards." She paused, a finger on her chin, clearly thinking a bit more deeply about it. "Also, y'know, the less guards there are, the more likely it is that dangerous people actually break out. It'd kind of suck to release a bunch of murderers out into the wild and then learn later that a bunch of other players got absolutely destroyed by them." Though, supposedly the Landers weren't all that powerful, at least compared to Travelers. Still, it was better to be safe about these things.

Which was why she gladly took the gentle punch with a grin, happy that Mio and herself were on the same wavelength. There would be no risking their lives for this, which could only be a good thing. "Good. In that case, I'll follow your lead on this one too. You're the stealth expert between the two of us, after all. I guess I'm only here to help take down the Iron Hammer and to help out if you get spotted?"

Seeing that Selene seemed interested, Mio grinned brightly and continued on with her little story. "Mm, originally I'm sure the quest isn't supposed to work like this, the treasure is just background flavor and you're supposed to use it as bait to catch some other groups like the bandits we fought before. But in this kind of game these things can be sneaky, so I want to try and get the treasure instead." Mio spoke proud of her own cleverness. The quest was for something completely different, but the moment she saw treasure in the flavor text she immediately went off the rails to try and get her hands on it somehow.

Selene's words though were exactly wat she'd been thinking. "Right, even then if we disguise our faces, it'll be written off sooner as a random freak happening. If we kill people though it'll be a lot harder to hide and write off as some sort of weird break in." She explained. The other point Selene mentioned was also true though, Mio was a thief, but not some psycho, she didn't want to release a bunch of murders just to line her pockets. Even if they weren't as powerful, god forbid one of them murder another Lander with an important quest for her in the future.

Though when Selene mentioned her role in fighting and helping, Mio nodded but rubbed her chin as she explained a bit more. "There's a chance we might need to break him out if the negotations go bad. If he isn't willing to help without us getting him out, I'll need your help to get him out through the well too." She explained with a smile, if Selene could help drag the man with her pushing or vice versa, there'd be better odds of them all making it out from the depths without drowning. "If you're ready we can set off and get started." She offered wondering if Selene might have more questions.

Ah, so this was just Mio trying to outsmart the system in an attempt to make some extra money? She'd definitely started to realize that the fox girl was pretty driven when it came to gold, money and coin. Not that she could really blame her, considering how important wealth could be, even if Selene herself always seemed to lack wealth. It was like money just crumbled into dust in her presence, though the posters that she'd paid for and set up all around for a while to help her find training partners might have had something to do with that.

"Sounds good to me, though I don't actually have a mask or anything to disguise my face with, so I might have to rely on you. You're not carrying around a spare mask that would happen to fit a woman like me, are you?" She paused, looking down at her outfit and very noticeable and recognizable body, before looking back at Mio again and giving the woman's body and outfit a glance up and down. Neither of them were the most inconspicuous people she'd ever seen, if she was being honest. "Or a couple of cloaks or something to hide the rest of us? We look pretty recognizable, you've gotta admit."

Her role sounded pretty straightforward though. Helping breaking the guy out, helping push him through the well, she was basically just here as combat insurance and some extra muscle, which was fine by her. So long as Mio wasn't expecting her to pull off any ninja moves, incredible acrobatics or become the world's stealthiest elf, then she could probably handle whatever Mio wanted her to handle pretty well. She nodded her head when she was asked if she was ready, smirking slightly.

"Ready when you are, chief. Just lead the way on this one."

Mio flashed a grin and a smile when she mentioned disguising faces and masks. Mio certainly wasn't ill prepared, those things also were very much in her wheel house of tricks in her trade. "Of course~ It'd just take a few minutes to change us up, but we shouldn't do it out here, it doesn't mix well with water." Mio explained nodding along. "First we go through the water well, on the other side when we're out, I'll change us up, and then after everything's said and done, we dive back into the well to escape, and it all comes off on the way and we come out on the other side clean and non-criminal." She spoke, clearly having too much experience in this kind of field. It was very much Mio's wheel house.

When Selene said she was ready though she'd nod along and begin packing up her map and images. Storing them in her inventory where it would stay dry. The next few moments were easy enough as she led Selene out into the street, there was a particular well off to the side used by what seemed to be a church or orphanage of some type. It was somewhat run down, the people there were all quiet and kept their heads down clearly not wanting trouble. It was very easily a place where nobody saw anything. It was why Mio picked this particular well out of all of them to infiltrate from. "Alright, in we go~" She spoke, offering to be the first one in. Taking a brief few side glances to catch if people were watching before she simply leaned in and fell down. A distant splash made it clear her landing might not have been too soft but wasn't painful either.

"I'm okay~ Come on down~" Mio called back up before diving a little so Selene could enter without crashing into her. Once the girl had joined her, Mio dove down, the cavernous interior beneath the water was narrow at first, widening up into an underground water vein where Mio directed her through with a bit of illusory lights to act as guides. After a brief swim that was neither near nor far Mio would guide her up to the base of another well breaking the surface with a heavy gasp. A finger over her lips as she whispered. "Alright, this is it, we're in." She spoke, trying to help Selene up out of the well. She'd find herself in the prison's basement-like warehouse where many supplies and kitchen resources were kept.

Ah, so it was going to be some form of ink disguise, then? At least, that's what Selene was predicting, when Mio stated that it wouldn't mix well with water. Nodding along to the explanation of their next steps, though it'd be tough to hold her breath whilst swimming through the well. "Man, I hope the well isn't too long of a swim. I dunno how good I am at holding my breath for longer than a few seconds. I haven't been swimming since I was just a little girl." She admitted, rubbing the back of her neck as she thought back. She was still a confident swimmer, though holding her breath would be a challenge.

And then they were off, Mio packing up her things and storing them in her inventory, leaving the Elf to follow after the Beastkin out into the street and towards the well, watching as Mio climbed in and fell down. Selene winced, waiting with baited breath for a second until she heard the splash. Once she did hear the splash, though, she quickly vaulted the wall of the well and dropped into it, landing with a splash. She surfaced, gasping for air, before diving down again to follow Mio as the woman guided her.

Just as she felt like she she might run out of air, they surfaced and Mio offered to help her out of the well. Once she was out, she reached down a hand for Mio to take and climb out as well, looking around at her surroundings. It was something of a warehouse, Selene noted as she took in the kitchen resources. Maybe some kind of pantry or something like that? Either way, they'd made it.

"So what now? Disguises and then we get moving? Or did you want to hide better before we put on any disguises?"

Mio managed to make it out with inky claws and even clawed tail for climbing. Rogue arts coming in handy as she scaled the well wall to the top with Selene to the basement. When asked about disguises she nodded her head. "No no, we're moving as fast as we can from here. God forbid someone thinks they want to sneak some oats or cereals or something." Mio complained bringing her hands to her face causing the ink from her hands to spread over her face. Initially just sweeping black ink over her face until it gradually thickened into a mask of an older more mature woman's showing some age lines, her hair whitened and fox ears shortened to more canine ears. Her fox tail flicked until it's dexterity was reduced becoming a wolf tail instead, taking on the image of a white wolf girl.

Turnong towards Selene, she tried to do the thing, putting her hands on the girl until the ink was passed to her as well spreading along, creating the appearance of an older woman, from an elf to a normal human by widening her ears. In the end, she dusted her hands off and nodded seeing her work done, the pink haired elf turning into a blond haired woman. "Alright, let's get going and see what we can do then." Mio spoke moving towards the door, pushing it open and peering around through the coridors. After moving down two halls though she found the cell block she was looking for. "Here. See?" She spoke, showing Selene the way in, there was a wider room with cells along the walls where prisoners stayed. At the center there were two guards casually playing poker with a third drinking off to the side, wearing the same flat headed hair cut and a heavy warhammer not far. No doubt the larger figure was the Iron Hammer.

"That's them... no doubt." Mio said firmly with a frown. Turning towards Selene she gave her a soft pat waiting for Selene to properly have a beat on them before taking any action.

Sure enough, Mio worked her magic and the two of them began to appear aged and older than they were, with Selene's ears, not that she could see them, becoming shaped like a regular human's, blonde bleeding across her hair until every last trace of pink had vanished and she was left nearly unrecognizable from her usual appearance. Such a handy trick, to be able to craft guises like that with nothing more than a simple touch and a wave of the hand. Selene grinned. "You look pretty good as a wolf girl, y'know?" She flashed a smirk, before they were quickly moving on.

Sure enough, with just a couple of hallways traversed, they were soon at the cell block that Mio had been aiming for, the Iron Hammer in sight, as were two other guards. Mio pat Selene to signal her to begin the attack, the swordswoman nodding as spirit energy began to gather in her legs and feet, the elf sending Mio one final wave of calm and readiness, before she blurred out of position and appeared behind the Iron Hammer, blade clutched and held above her head, before she brought it down.

Her blade slammed into his armored shoulder, aimed so that it wouldn't cut, but the impact would rattle him. She'd decided to use her opening strike to hit as hard as she could without lowering her guard, knowing that if she went down, it would make things harder for Mio to deal with.

Mio chuckled a little when being told she looked good, she only shrugged in answer. "I'm better as a fox, you know it." She teased back, even trying to swat Selene with her tail before moving on. Advancing through until they found the guards in question. It made Mio sigh seeing them, they were a threat clearly, not one that was necessarily out of their reach but still a dangerous one regardless.

Mio would naturally follow up, as always her role as an assassin was to perform sneak attacks but in a situation where they couldn't kill and where things couldn't be ended in a single blow Mio took on a more supportive role. "I've got you." Mio would offer pointing a clawed hand towards Selene in an effort to help. With a sweep of her hand, she tried protecting Selene with her magic, draining the color from her friend to protect her in the illusion of her drawings. Though it would do some damage as well as the ink turned stains into injuries it wouldn't hit that hard despite her efforts to back Selene up.

Meanwhile the Iron hammer received Selene's attack with a loud shout, almost a cry in truth truly surprised. The guards who were playing cards even got up in a start, shouting at the same time. "I-Iron hammer sir, are you okay?!" They at first worried about their leader as they grabbed their weapons, the two guards simply wielding clubs that seemed to resemble sticks or broken chair legs. They were clearly under equipped, likely because of Mio, but Iron hammer raised a hand to stop the guards from approaching carelessly. "I'm fine... You intruders, are you the ones responsible for my boys disappearing?" The large mercenary like man asked reaching down for his own large warhammer. Meeting eyes with Selene first, then Mio. He didn't seem to recognize them, but still he had a job to do. Due to the surprise, the man couldn't summon a lot of strength when he swung, turning sharply he swung his weapon towards Selene albeit weakly.

The guards on the other hand moved to try and fight back as well, with shouts hoping to fight off their attackers by swinging their clubs, one at Selene and one at Mio.

The retaliation from the Iron Hammer would have sent Selene stumbling backwards from the force of it, though it might have saved her from the guard's attack. In the end, Mio's magical protection softened the blows, turning some of the damage she would have received into inky art instead as the color drained from her body, only to return upon the impact of a warhammer and a club, both impacts causing Selene to grunt in pain. Iron Hammer was going to be the bigger threat, she could feel it.

She made to strike at Iron Hammer with her blade, only for her other hand to reach for her belt, drawing her sheath and using it to catch the strike from the giant of a man and open him up to a return strike of her own, her blade lancing across his chest now that he was open to her.

Mio tried her best to keep up with Selene, though the attacks didn't seem too crippling she didn't want the girl to keep receiving damage but while she was being attacked it was difficult to lend support as well. Fending off the incomming club the best she could with her arms, she winced when it made contact but braced herself the best she could and instead used her tail to continue to protect Selene with the paints as the battle continued.

"Keep pushing, we're almost there." Mio tried to encourage Selene, hoping the woman would stay confident against their foes as the battle continued. Naturally she turned and faced her own opponent as well, to make sure she was ready for the next blow that would come.

As the fight continued, with the Iron hammer growing more and more injured, his subordinates seemed worried as he was gradually beaten. Only once he seemed like he was starting to get worn out and weathered did he finally grit his teeth. "Enough!" He shouted slamming his hammer down on the ground creating a small shock wave. The pressure blew back the tables and chairs the guards had been playing cards on, but the pair of guards, seemed to be used to the outburst not effected by it.

As the wave lashed out, the Guards continued their assault trying their best to use the opening to take care of the intruders worried that their boss would be in trouble if battle continued.

Mio's paints continued to protect her, though Selene could see that the battle was taking a toll on Mio too. They needed to end this fight faster so that Mio wouldn't be put in much more danger! The elf huffed, grinning as her strike landed, though when she noticed the Iron Hammer rearing his hammer up, only her reflexes saved her, jumping up and backwards slightly to avoid the shockwave, though Mio seemed to not have faired as well.

"Mio!" She shouted in concern, a pulse of spirit energy launching Selene from her spot to the large man, her blade lashing out at his chest again, aiming to bludgeon him into unconsciousness through impacting his armor as many times as it took. "Leave her alone!"

Mio was blown back a fair distance from the shock wave, it hurt, she tasted blood in her mouth, but even when she collided with the wall she still grit her teeth, lifting her hand pointing it towards Selene again with a bitter expression. "A little more... Just no killing." She'd remind Selene, just in case the girl was thinking of avenging her with blood, Mio would be a thief but not a heartless monster. Instead, gripping her shoulder she again laid on her protection onto Selene, draining her colors, protecting her with the power of her portrait before further wounding the Iron Hammer. Unfortunately she wasn't quite strong enough, her head still shaking from the blow, but she'd done enough she thought to start bringing the battle to a close.

Being further wounded and injured, the Iron hammer roared lifting his weapon trying to fight off the woman who was giving him a hard time. It was his job to guard, he took pride in his work, thinking that he was being over powered by two people was a hit to his ego but the man kept fighting despite that, swinging his hammer once again, much more powerful then before as his rage increased, empowered by his humiliation and sense of duty.

The guards continued fighting with renewed vigor, with one of them being beaten down by the shock wave, the pair of guards began huffing and puffing as they swung with more energy hoping they would make head way before their captain's body gave out.

Once more, a hand placed against her body drained the colors from her and protected her, as Selene heard Mio's reminder that they weren't going to kill the enemy. It would be tough to not kill him, given that he looked so exhausted and his armor was so battered, but she could manage it. It was better to put in some extra effort than to turn herself and Mio into murderers, especially when they were trying to avoid drawing unwanted attention from the authorities.

Moving back into the fray, more blows landed against her body, her positioning from her last attack meaning that, even with Mio's protective spells defending her against greater harm, they still landed true and caused pretty bad damage. Shifting her blade to catch a blow that didn't seem to come, Selene blinked when she realized that she wasn't blocking or parrying an attack, before she lashed out with her sheath, the blunt object slamming into Iron Hammer's forehead and robbing the light from his eyes as he fell over backwards, unconscious.

"Okay, who's next?"

Mio exhaled, seeing the Iron hammer fall, dazed, unconscious, thankfully alive. Though they still had the smaller guards to deal with. Biting her lip she continued trying to support Selene to the end. Though when the Iron Hammer fell, she tried to focused and turned her attention to trying to stop the guards from wailing on her. Though that didn't mean she wouldn't stop trying to help Selene either. With her hand moving and guiding her ink from the Hammer to his guards with a sweep in an effort to start bringing one of them down.

The pair of guards almost teared up when they saw the girl push down the Iron hammer, the man had been their hero a big brother for them. In the end they loudly shouted trying to put more force into their beatings as if hoping they would be able to avenge their leader.

Iron Hammer falling was good, but it didn't seem to break the morale of the guards that remained, instead they seemed galvanized by their loss and determined to bring the two ladies down. Selene in particular, in between fending off attacks against her by one of the guards, wincing as his club cracked against her side, the damage mitigated somewhat by a last minute attempted parry using the sheath that she was wielding in her offhand. Instead, her focus was on the worse looking Mio and the guard that was attacking her.

"I told you to leave her alone!" She snarled, ignoring the guard that had focused his attention on her to lash out with both her sword and the sheath. Sadly, though, he seemed prepared for her attack, likely due to her shout beforehand, using his club to catch the more dangerous weapon, her blade and only being struck by the sheath as a result, which clanged against his armor, denting it slightly but ultimately doing very little.

Mio still continued trying to ward off the incoming blows with hands and tails. She tried her best to minimize her losses but she was getting tired. Even so she didn't hesitate to keep supporting Selene despite the losses. Slowly but surely the tide would turn, Mio just needed to hold on until that point. Inching towards Selene during the fight, being as careful of her footwork as she could until they were closer, she'd flash a bitter smile and again exert herself to make sure Selene was protected.

With Mio moving the guards tried to continue their assault. Seeing Selene switch target, the guard assaulting her made every effort to follow along, but fighting around their unconscious boss was hard on the man as he swung his weapon with some difficulty. Meanwhile the other seeing Mio tiring got more hopeful that they might edge out a win if he just persevered.

"Damn it! Look after yourself please!" Selene's eyes widened with worry as, again, Mio seemed to eschew her own safety to protect the swordswoman, warding off attacks whilst continuing to use her magic to protect Selene. They were slowly inching closer and closer together, even as the guard that had been attacking Selene approached her from behind, she paid him and his club, which impacted against the back of her head but was dulled tremendously by Mio's magic, no mind, focused on getting to Mio and stopping the guard that had been attacking her.

Firmly planted in position, there was very little fanfare or skill about her next strike, as she flipped her sword around and slammed the hilt into the second guard's chest, caving his armor in and driving the air from his body, before she swung her sheath at him to bat him to one side, thoroughly unconscious now.

She fixed Mio with a worried look, spinning on her heel to face the remaining guard, placing herself between the two.
