There was a pause as she listened to both the words of @Haru and Brutus, both men seemingly equally confident that the sage would be fine to his own devices down by the ocean. "… alright." She reluctantly nodded, a hand brushing her hair back into place.

A quick check had showed her line remained untouched, Toko ensuring the bait was still there, before the Lepus left it to do its own thing. It was then the flint of a hook caught her eyes, Toko looking just in time to see a faint line cling to @Hanno Futaba’s swimwear, the Faerin about to get a Trunk Busting as the blue haired @Cynna got ready to cast her line into the ocean.

"A-Ah…! Hanno, look out!!!"

Before she could do more however the deck was suddenly overturned by a few friendly looking and large Basseal, one of them meandering over to where Toko was as it was attracted to the fish bucket.

"Hey there, big boy~"

She took one of the Meliodashi from her bucket, offering it to the Basseal and watching as it scarfed it down eagerly.

Imoogi wasn't having much luck with the whole "fish catching" thing. They didn't care for her laced bait, and her attempt to dump a paralytic poison into the water had been stopped by some other rando on the boat. Something about "environmental impacts".

What a drag.

Chased away from the railing, Imoogi swiped a meliodashi from someone's bucket and gloomily tossed it towards a basseal. She'd get a chance to do something interesting eventually...

Askera noted the fall that one @Jester took right into the ocean... around all of those annoyed Basseal. She hadn't even managed to land close enough to that strange white-haired sage out in a floatie-tube to fond herself in a safe zone from them.

He decided to throw the girl a bone-- Rather, some meat on a bone. Thankfully it seemed that the fish he had tossed down there had placated the ravenous seal-fishes... for the time being, anyway.

The researcher turns a gaze to the side, looking for someone he knew. @Toko , perhaps, or maybe that @Ronja Bubblyfoot girl.

"Would either of you be willing to help that girl back onto the ship?"

He didn't want this Imoogi lady dunping poison into the water while someone was still in it.

"Why did I agree to do this..."

The elf laments her poor decision-making skills, as well as her insatiable curiosity which had led to her boarding the ship with the rest of the adventurers on either side of her, busy catching fish as most of them are.

Rael, however, sits on the deck with her legs pulled closer to her chest, suppressing the seasickness with little success until an animalistic sound brushes past her ear.

An arm swings out to grab one Meliodashi another had caught from a bucket that sits nearby, hurling it at the Basseal awaiting its treat with hungry eyes.

"No offense, buddy, I hate the water."

▣ Attire: Look, but with the addition of a color-matching floatie around her waist.

Sadge but is okay.

Kamala frowned when she confirmed that she was the only one in her friend group to still not have caught a fish. Things even became sadder for her when they started to go after a new catch. For a moment there, she was worried she was going to be left even more behind. But then some Basseals just jumped into the ship and Kamala's concerns were quickly brushed aside, the Beastfolk happily distracted by the event! Acting on her instincts, she just shoved her rod towards @Ayna Nietzsche and rushed towards the Basseals, petting and feeding them with a great smile on her face. She had never been this close to one before, so she immediately chose to forget @Chrys' warning and became real friendly with them just like that. Sea doggos!

Here fishy, fishy, fishy!

Heh. Ayna grinned at the sight of @Kamala Graham just rushing towards the Basseals to pet and feed them. She considered @Chrys' warnings, eyeing the other Beastfolk warily, but when she noticed their new passengers weren't doing anything wrong, instead just playfully eating and getting pats from the others, she decided to focus all her attention on catching more of them. The more, the merrier, eh?

Well at the very least he had one fish to use to learn more about them right? Shaking away any negative thoughts as he focused on what everyone else was to avoid standing out. Just keep blending in, the more you stay under the radar the less likely someone will expect something from you. He himself was not much a fan of fish that could also stay on land but such was the goal now.

While his casted line was waiting for a bite he would look to the golden fish he had managed to catch, scrapping a few of his gold coins to toss it as a way to avoid it trying to eat the led box or attempt an escape. It was also to study it some more and keep himself awake. Fishing was a game of patience and this druid had very little of it.

Brutus would reach down and share in the basseal petting @Toko was partaking in. It was adorable and disturbing at the same time, like some weird fucked up chimera from the classic movie Spy Kids 2.

His other hand would flick his rod casting his line back into the water. Still with no luck. He would scowl and sip his beer, crushing the empty can and setting it aside before cracking open another.

Attire: Trunks, tanktop and a floral shirt left open.

While Jester was unaware that Askera had asked others to come to her aid, she still wouldn't give them the chance as she put that Dynamism and her entire SP bar to use running up the side of the ship. No one wanted to be shark bait, after all. With another flip back onto the deck, the ever ecstatic elf huffed for air as she sought to catch her breath, all the while laughing in between.

"Hah... that... hah... that was a lot of... haah... fun!" She flipped her re-soaked hair out of her face and looked to her vacation buddies with a grin. "I've been looking for more excuses to run! Hah..." She looked to @Harper and gave a grin-and-shrug combination. "Guess I didn't have enough elbow grease. I don't suppose you've got extra to lease?" With a playful chuckle, she walked back over to the side, stared down into the sea for a while...

"Actually... Who's the real enemy here?"

... and then she dove back in.

▣ Attire: A striped bikini that Jester wished covered another inch or two, but hey she rocks it (also helmet visor for style points).

Harper would blink in a mix of disbelief and shock as @Jester was dragged over the deck, wondering for a moment if she should go and help her. She wasn't the best swimmer and felt like she'd only scare the fish away instead of helping in any significant way. Fortunately, the elf would eventually make her way back into the deck by herself.

Smirking at her comment about elbow grease, Harper would return the shrug with her shoulders. "Sorry, but we are still competing. Guess you'll just have to make do with what you have!" She'd taunt, before watching as Jester decided to return to the sea. While her fishing tactics were certainly odd, it was clear from the first round that they worked. So, as to not risk falling behind once again, the tigress would get her fishing line roll in one hand and the end of the line in the other.

Before casting her line once more, she'd shout over the deck and towards the blonde elf with a chuckle. "Oi! Don't get caught by my hook, you hear?"

"Would either of you be willing to help that girl back onto the ship?"
"Iiyo!"

A nod was given to the researcher as @Askera Question asked for Toko to help @Jester, however before the Lepus could turn around and do so the elf had already run up the side of the boat and back into the deck... seemed like no one needed to worry about her then. On the bright side this meant that the hare was free to continue showering the friendly Basseal besides her with coos and scritches, her line still cast as it awaited on a holder in case a bite eventually tugged at its bait.

"Ii sakana azarashi wa dare? You are, yes you aaareee~!"

Critical Success
100

Asher line became taught Lúthien couldn't help but become excited, completely unaware of the five Basseal that had snuck into the boat and were begging for fish and scritches as the blonde focused on pulling her line. At the end she found a Basseal, tiny compared to others being pulled in by other Travelers, but it was her second catch of the day and the elf couldn't help but grin widely in response.

She wasn't sure where Cidney had gone off to, the elf wondering as she dumped the Basseal onto her bucket, after all she still had to thank her for the wonderful outfit that the Magia had provided her and the other girls.

"Yeah, this is a ten outta ten vacation for sure~!"

Jester certainly seemed to be having the time of her life too, the elf giggling as she watched the woman dive right back overboard into the sea. Props to her for being so daring, and quite mobile indeed, before the elf casted her line out once more to try her luck.

The eruption from the people around him beckoned his glances from underneath a shadowed hood. Suddenly they were playing with the seal-like monsters and attempting to tame the beasts. He considered helping, but one look from the motes of energy in his eye sockets was enough to make a basseal rear back in fear.

He best just keep hunting—like he seemed made to do.

He aimed at a shadowing figure, and loosed the bolt. Only to pull up a batch of seaweed. Yuck.

Not much to say except for the fact that the hare continued to coo over her new temporary pet, gosh how could something so dangerous be this cute?!

Her line remained casted and untouched, perhaps the brethren of the Basseal she was bonding with were giving it a wide berth?

A bite!

Excitement courses through the elven girl as the rod on her tags received a rather harsh tug, safely grasped in Lúthien’s palms before the ranger quickly begun to reel the lure back in.

"Hnnng?! La puta madre…!" One thing the elf hadn’t expected was for the insane struggle with her line, peering overboard to see a large shadow in the water as Lúthien continued to try and haul in her latest catch. "H-Hey… can anyone spare a hand, please?!"

Normally she wouldn’t have asked, especially when they were in the middle of a contest, but Lúthien could tell from the strains alone that her fishing rod was suffering… whatever was at the end of that lure was fucking huge!

Brutus too would keep his line in, wondering what whacky thing would probably happen next. His lack of bites was getting quite annoying and the mountain if beer cans was growing quite tall.

This proved to be a much harder catch then he first expected, well not exactly. Seals had always been more agile then fish when it came to things and had higher intelligence then them. Sadly though Druid did not exactly know how to deal with seals more then the do not take lightly, and some of the rough ways to understand them thanks to his mastery. So he just kept trying the way he was maybe he would get a bite?

After you and your group serviced the friendly Basseals that leaped onto the deck, they UNGH'ed energetically, happy to be treated like royalty among Travelers. Having watched the entire thing, the Marchioness beckoned for Steph to come to her. The redhead was delighted to, since any more fishing would have her hook off someone else's swimsuit.

….... .. …. ...... .......... ... … ....… ........ ... ...... .......... .....

Oh! Mm-mm... I see... Really?! Whoa, I didn't know that!

Steph turned to the rest of you to relay what she had just heard.

The Marchioness said that she was something of a biologist when she was younger, and it seems like the Basseal population is split into many factions, each one with a slightly different tail marking, which you can see here.

Steph grabbed onto a Basseal on deck and flipped it upside down to demonstrate its fishtail marking, warranting a loud and angry hiss from the one she grabbed.

EEE! S-sorry!

She bowed to the Basseal several times, who ended up flopping over to @Toko @Imoogi @Askera Question @Rael @Kamala Graham to get away from Steph. The Basseals were particularly friendly to Imoogi (RNG chosen) whether she wanted it or not. Maybe the doom and gloom attracted them.

Steph heart cracked into two and her body became like a statue. She had always liked animals, but maybe it wasn't meant to be...

A-ha... a-anyways, the Basseals onboard are basically different than the ones we've caught, and the Marchioness mentioned that as long as we keep making them happy, we can ride them! There are only five, though, so everyone should take turns.

It wasn't easy to read the old lady's expression, but it seemed as though the Marchioness was happy as she nodded affirmatively to how her message was relayed.

While the rest of the group continued fishing, Steph walked around the ship, looking to maintain morale.

(Her first stop was @Tyr.)

Hey! I'm sure the kitchen could use that seaweed to spice up someone's lunch!

Seeing @Luthien, the Conqueror, so fired up Steph gave her an affirming thumbs up.

(She pumped her fist toward @Ayna Nietzsche's direction.)

Keep going! Ay-ay-ayna!

(And to @Druid, she tried a similar cheer.)

Keep going! Da-rood-eed! O-oh err... that doesn't roll off the tongue very smoothly...

(@Hyakin Heliodoros, however, rolled very smoothly off the tongue.)

Let's go! Hai-ah-kin! You can do it, Hai-ah-kin!

To @Moonsong, who claims that Basseals are cute and immediately caught one, Steph had a
panik.png
face as she slowly slinked away.
To the gang that was feeding and playing with the friendly Basseals (@Toko @Imoogi @Askera Question @Rael @Kamala Graham), she could only
sad.png
. But, most of all, she was envious of Imoogi, who received all of the attention from the cute creature.

(When she saw @Mari Yamazakura dangling overboard, she peeked her head over and asked.)

Umm... are you okay?! Do you need me to pull you up?

(And to Nin (@Pandora* who caught her own hat, she waved.)

Nin nin, from the MIT, right? Not sure if you remember me, but we've passed by each other more than once. Do you want to walk around with me and hook people's swimsuits off? I'm that terrible, aha!

(Finally, to @Ilusa Nakhalee, who was the first person to catch a Basseal, gold coins jingled in her head.)

Ohoho! Young lady! I see that you possess exceptional skills in catching things of great value. How would you like to catch other things of great value with me after this... if I'm not imprisoned for embezzling afterward? I've been looking for Fate Cards of great value!

(Narrator: If Steph missed you, I'm sorry, there are too many people!)

While your group continued fishing and socializing, the pirate ship pulled up once more, anchoring right beside the Imperial Petunia.

YARGHAHAHA! Ye again?! While ye all are playing with yer Basseals, we be fillin' our ships with a mountain yet again!

YARGHAHAHA!?

(The pirate captain stopped mid-laugh to listen to a report being discretely delivered to him.)

Yarrgh, fun time's over, gotta go!

And with that, the pirate ship sped away. Something had spooked them.

It didn't take your group long to figure out what had happened. A few minutes after the pirate sped off, one of the lookouts alerted the rest of your crew that there is a raider ship on the horizon, which signaled the end of the fun time... or is it perhaps an opportunity to pull ahead of the competing pirates?

The sea shakes
Raiders in the distance

Ah-um, everyone, it seems like we, possibly, might be behind the pirate's catch. And while we should probably get away from the Sea Raiders... considering that even the pirates don't want to mess with them...

I say, boo to that! This... this is an opportunity for us to catch up, comrades!

Surely, a Sea Raider ship would bring with it plenty of rare fish that they had plundered from other sea travelers.

Now I'm no thief, but desperate times call for desperate measures.

To beat the pirates, we must become pirates... It's time for a different kind of fishing.

(She quickly donned an eyepatch and signaled the scout up on the lookout to swap the ship's flag to a plain black one.)

Raider Ship

A massive ship belonging to Sea Raiders, who are known to be vicious on the sea. They routinely scour the Ilmean waters looking for prey to plunder from and are known not to follow conventional rules that even the despicable pirates follow. All in all, these are the scum of the earth. One best be wary and avoid them altogether.

Your goal for this catch is to use your mastery to swim to the Sea Raider's ship, sneakily board it, find where they hold their rare fishes, and bring them back to your ship.
