"Besides, it is worth a shot, if we can get the granny to feel a bit better. If anything, at least we can say we tried!" At the great cost of Astorea's treasury? Yep. But it was better to not comment on it anymore. "Also, you are quick, right? Do you think you can use your speed to catch more fish?" He asked.

He glanced back at Steph (@Raid Boss) "Keep going like how you are doing, and soon you will catch more than the whole pirate fleet yourself." He said, encouraging the girl that was dead inside, yet managing to fish at a nice rate. Then he threw the line again, hopefully to catch something good.

A second failure had the Lepus frowning as her line came up empty, while the Felis besides her scored a rather big catch. Once more she hooked up a new bait into the lure, before Toko stood to look over the edge at the waters below.

"It's okay, Askera-san is probably engrossed studying teh fish anyways—" Her words suddenly stop as a rather unexpected sight catches her attention, a white haired sage (@Haru) floating about in a rather cute floatie. "Hey Brutus, look! I wonder where they got that... gosh it's so kawaii~"

She'd cast her line once more, though it was clear the rabbit's attention was currently on the unique mystery person floating not too far from the Imperial Petunia.

Suddenly, Ronja found herself surrounded by a lot of friends! And in a great competition, she couldn't ask for more to have fun.

"Woah, that's a big fish! Ronja has never seen one so big!" She beamed at @Jester's catch, then looked at @Harper, @Luthien, and @Cidney Cometfall.

"Ronja thinks we will need to step it up if we want to win! Let's do it!" She readied her harpoon rifle, starting to try and aim at the biggest fishes she could find.

Now this was turning into a proper party! Though, as @Jester dove into the water and @Ronja Bubblyfoot used her harpoon gun, Harper couldn't help but feel like she was going to be left in the dust if the tigress limited herself to just using a regular fishing rod, no matter what she had said before to Ronja. She wasn't about to lose a competition due to pride!

As she searched for her answer, Jester just caught the biggest one yet. And she was officially behind. But her eyes would eventually stumble upon a big roll of fishing line nearby. And it gave her a neat idea. After some quick and somewhat sloppy tinkering, she had attached the weights and hook from her old rod onto the spare fishing line. With bait ready to go, she'd hold the line with her bare hands as she threw it onto the sea. The tigress would hope the more personal contact with the line would help her catch up and pull bigger fish.

"Come on! Give me a bite!"

He had not exactly gotten out much since his last death, only going out as needed but with the new flux of players maybe now was the time? Though mostly only for events with lots of people so he had a better chance to get away if things went south right? Nobody would blame the kid for trying to save his own hide least once or twice till he could defend himself right? Needless though he sat quiet among the rest, no different from a lander casting a line in hopes of a catch.

Some fished for the prospect of selling or melting the fish, but he was more interested in learning of the sea life. Was it only gold colors, was it drawn to the shades of yellow more then silvers or coppers? So many questions about the fist but first he needed a live one to add to his little led box for research later. Can't run a zoo if you don't know your exhibits right?

Nin gave a small sigh as she spotted her beloved hat across the deck, it was being kicked about by various busy smelly summer feet.

This is why she hated leaving the lab...

Grasping the sides of her safety tube as if it would jump off and go running she made her way slowly towards it hoping to not topple over on the ever so slightly rocking boat.

"1...2...3...4.."

She counted her footsteps as she crept along.

Meanwhile, the Fixer tossed another batch of whatever fish he had caught, The man wasn't paid enough for this but at least it was a nice day out.

"Sure, hit me up whenever if you have any questions~ I'm not exactly a teacher, but I'll give you my input if you need it!"

She watched as the elf then resumed her competition with two others, before the voice of @Cynna caught Lúthien's attention. Excitedly she had waved the woman over, inviting her towards the cooler that the blonde had brought over—filled to the brim with Agüitas—so the blue haired woman could take her picks.

"Wait—¿qué?" Her attention was suddenly caught by Ronja as the blonde found herself pulled into a competition all of a sudden, though with her current track record Lúthien wasn't holding her breath for any big wins or prizes. "A-Alright... here goes nothing, I guess?"

Given everyone else's unorthodox fishing methods the elf decided to step her game up as well, standing at the edge of the ship before Lúthien closed her eyes. She allowed her consciousness to stretch out, feeling the tide as it shifted and pulled the waves, as the elf searched for anything alive that might be worthwhile the effort of catching it...

Mini Game Event

After what seemed like hours and no catch to be had, it was clear to you that you and your group might have exhausted the Meliodashi that were in the area. Although some lucrative opportunity to make extra gold could be had if you were to find another sunken ship somewhere, there's not enough time for that if the group wanted to beat the pirates.

Speaking of pirates, toward the end of your Meliodashi catches, the opposition ship sailed past, but not without its captain swinging his head overboard.

YARGHAHAHA! Ye ship be looking light, matey. Take a look at our catch, it be a bigger pile than that sad stack of ye. YARGHAHAHA! Cutchathroata-later, gulpies!

Argh! Everyone! We need to move onto the next catch of the day! I'm not sure whether bowbeard is lying or not, but we need to keep up so I don't end up in debt and destitute!

Ah-umm, our next catch of the day is in deeper waters. We're looking for a rare fish called the Basseal.

(She pumped her fist in the air while fumbling with her fishing rod on the other hand and ended up hooking onto @Hanno Futaba's trunk, threatening to pull it off.)

Guidelines

• Narratively, your character is fishing using a fishing apparatus and may use their masteries or expertise to increase their chance of catching. Mechanically, however, it's all luck and no skill, just plain RNG!

(✦✦✦) Basseal

Basseals are a rare type of fish with the body of a scaly fish with spikes throughout their body and shark-like fins but the head of a seal. They are highly prized and sought after for amazingly tender flesh, cooked or alive. Their size leans large, and they are known as the wagyu in the world of sea cuisine.

They reside in the deeper ocean and usually only travel in small packs. Despite their pack size, be warned that Basseals are muscle fish and can decapitate a person with their tail slap. They are known to wreck fishing boats to eat the crew onboard.

They may look cute, but they are highly aggressive; one best be careful around these bad boys.

[Cidney Cometfall]

Cidney did not, in fact, up her fishing game with a new method. She would be what some would consider to be 'boring', while she herself would instead consider to be enjoying a fun time.

She didn't want to do so forever, though. She took a break for a time's being, instead deciding to go make drinks for everyone else to have.

Brutus would turn and shrug to @Toko rolling out his shoulders. His gaze would shoot back to the water as Toko called out and raised an eyebrow. That was...

" @Haru ?" He would call out confusedly. "How did you manage to...neverming. That's who I was mentioning earlier at the lake hun, he's kind of like...a weird merlin type character for aspiring heroes." His line would tug and the cheering from @Cidney Cometfall was distracting him so he missed tugging whatever was up in time to keep it from snatching his bait.

[Samantha Yurei]

Sam returned to the deck after changing from her already sea-worthy outfit to a more comfortable yet functional leisure one. Though, as she walked towards her fishing apparatus, which was set up, positioned, and already waiting for a catch along the edge of the ship, Sam noticed some familiar faces. These beautiful faces being @Chrys's, @Kamala Graham's, and of course, @Ayna Nietzsche's.

"Ohoho~ I knew I would see you guys here! How's the catch comin' along? Haha."

Sam gave them a grin before she proceeded and checked her fishing tackle. Noting no change with the set up, she sighed as she enjoyed the scene of the glimmering water and her friends while waiting for a bite.

[Mari Yamazakura]

A rope can be found tied to a post on the side of the ship. A strange woman has decided to grab fish by hand, probably because she doesn't know how to use a fishing rod. With enough effort however, she may yet catch one fish to help this poor old lady. However, with her technique, it would be unlikely.

[Hyakin Heliodoros]

"AMAZING!"

It shone.
It glimmered.
Each scale looked as if made out of gold. Under the sun and droplets of water, they shimmered. Hyakin was so awed that for moment he stopped further fishing, just raising the wiggling fish up and watching it from all sides, before chuckling and putting it in the bucket.

He then fished again; but got nothing.. And then nothing again.

As the ship moved, he just enjoyed the nice heat, the wind, the sun and the smell of the ocean… And tried to catch more fishes.

As someone said that it was time to fish for other fish – well, Hyakin tried his best! Maybe his beginner luck would hold out!

And it was so relaxing and yet exciting.

"This game was the best." He hummed to himself with grin.

Fishing turned out to be something that calmed her down; not that anything was different about how she looked. But inside, she calmed down.

Of course, she still memorised the organiser, Stephanie, and when (not if, never if) she met with Astor, she would be sure to regale him the tale of the redhead and the threat to the Astorean money she was.

…If before that she would find someone of importance in the Astorean government, to file a complaint about her, well, that was just natural. Misusing the national funds like that was really, really not smart thing.

Ilusa glanced around, noticing some familiar faces and blinked as she spotted a certain Travelling Sage (@Haru ) floating on a floater next to the ship. A closer inspection showed her the corruption wiggling lazily as if lapping at the waves here and there.

She chuckled and then restarted fishing.

And a pretty chunky one too, the Meliodashi carefully pried from the lure before it was dumped into the Lepus' bucket for safe keeping. It was then another ship sailed past them, yelling coming from it as the captain riled Stephanie up before the boat quickly sailed away... which prompted the girl to push for Imperial Petunia to quickly move into a new fishing spot, while threatening to leave @Hanno Futaba without his trunks.

"Uwaaah! Look at their heads, they look like seals!"

The hare excitedly pointed to the school of Basseal as the ship arrived to its new location, her line quickly cast as the rabbit decided to test her luck once more.

Feeling something tugging his trunk followed by Steph's (@Raid Boss) startled words made Hanno instinctively turn, ready to face whatever was happen- As a result, the hook prickled his butt, making him yelp and frown, seeing the state of his trunk poking out of his boardshorts.

"H-Hey buddy, I don't think you are meant to catch this sort of thing now. There are no fishes over here-" His face grew red looking at Selph, and noticing that @Toko was looking too along with probably a few others. He quickly began working on freeing the hook of his trunks, careful to not prickle himself again.

Thanks to his high awareness, though, he soon noticed a big basseal swimming near the surface, making him quickly shift again. "Over there! A big one over there- OW!" He prickled himself again while trying to warn anyone to snatch the fish before finally pulling to hook off.

Lúthien watched as the others reeled in their catches, Jester having the biggest of them all, before feeling an energy resonate with her magic. She quickly turned to see a rather large Meliodashi crest over the surface before angling to descend again.

"Nu-uh, you're mine...!"

She reached out for anything that she could use to capture her quarry—grasping onto a nearby cast net available in the ship. Lúthien focused then on the waves, using her hydromancy to prevent the fish from diving, before she pointed the net in it's direction. All her force was placed into that throw, before a strong gust of wind assisted on properly spreading out the net as it reached its target, successfully finding its mark on the Meliodashi.

"¡Eso es! Finally caught one!!!"

"Oh, gracias Cid!"

Cidney rejoined the group with a few drinks, the elf happy to enjoy a nice treat as the ship sailed towards a new fishing spot. "What the... that's a seal's head on a fish?!" She leaned over the railing for a look, before smiling back at the group.

"Everyone ready for round two~?"

As she took a sip of her drink, she glanced at @Luthien and nodded. "The battle isn't done yet, and Ronja will do her best!" She said confidently, grabbing her harpoon rifle and getting ready for the second round, shooting and trying to catch more fishes.

"Come on, @Harper! @Jester already won the first round, we need to win this one!"

"Moonsong? You look familiar... The name's Ayna! Ayna Nietzsche!"

Ayna shook @Moonsong's hand briefly before turning her attention back to the ocean. There was something about the woman that made her seem familiar, but maybe it was just Ayna's imagination. A lot of them looked similar and she's met a lot of different folks over the past few days, weeks even. Probably one of those folks. Ayna momentarily stole a glimpse of @Kamala Graham who seemed to be enjoying herself, feeling more than better at the sight of her closest friend, before shaking her head at @Chrys who was probably up to no good with those sketchy eyes of his.

"Eyes on the prize, Chrys! Let's not find out if you can float, all right?"

Hearing @Samantha Yurei's familiar voice, Ayna gave her a nod and a confident smirk. A fellow Pirate Lord's always a sight for sore eyes.

"Sam! Glad to see you came! You look stunning! Oh, and the catch's doing great!"

[Askera Question]

And now there was a shocking discovery! Basseal? In their fishing trip? It might be more likely than he had thought! He had always liked seals, and this development had all but enraptured the poor man who had precious few things to dream about anymore in his life.

His next series of observations and writing would be considered by the MIT to be 'unprofessional' were they to read it. He couldn't help that he was enjoying his trip out here so much.

A woman had taken a seat by his side earlier and he had remembered talking about the various aquatic lives that were making their way through this part of the ocean. He couldn't remember if she had been enraptured by his lesson or if she'd just walked off... Admittedly, he was getting a bit engrossed in his writing. He hadn't gotten like this since the last time he'd written for a Phantasy Star Wikipedia...
