Honeyhome is no bustling city. It's the sort of place where people might be born and live their entire lives, unaware of the world beyond Eastern Brisshal. Yet its its location means it is a place of adventurers, and in this new age of the Starcalled there's more activity here than there's been in years. The general store, once nearly abandoned, bustles with a crowd that spills into the street as newcomers clamor for gear and supplies. And just outside, a blue-winged beastfolk sings a song that winds through the air, laced with Harmonic magic.

Through a sky stained blue do the stars tumble through
And alight upon the land
Through the spring-green sea they e'er travel free
'til among thee they do stand

Bluebird did not intend to draw attention. She hadn't even realized she'd been putting words to the melody of the bustling town, the faint whispers of emotion and thought from lander and traveler both. She'd just been another person waiting in line, singing to entertain herself. But then someone had looked her way, head bobbing along to her melody, and then another, and it wasn't long before she found herself performing for a small audience.

Day and night, the stars cast their light
Shining oh so clear and bright
Every word and deed a service, their creed
To rise up against the night

She's a little embarrassed. It's not a song she learned anywhere - she's more or less making it up as she goes, based on the little she knows of the world. But the people seem to be enjoying it, so she continues - at least until she's finished this song.

Wandering in Falderen was always peaceful in a certain way, and so Ruby did carefreely swaying tail and sword rhythmically with music playing in her mind. She hummed along with it, gently skipping a few steps until she realized that the song was slowly becoming clearer... Clearer..? Actually, it almost sounded like someone was singing it.

Her eyes blinked twice and she peeked in a particular direction, with ears and tails perking up as she realized a birdkin with a contrasting color to hers. For a moment, she watched just like anyone else in the crowd, but slowly she realized the shyness in the girl's face, a glimpse of hesitation on the lyrics, and a vague difference between them.

Grinning, Ruby took a step forward, pushing part of the crowd aside and rushing past them, soon getting next to the bird lady, quickly circling her with a smooth movement, raising her tail in a sway that followed her dance before she posed next to her, with the bells of her dancing vest shimmering and ringing before she gently nudged and glanced at her with a grin.

For a moment, her primal aura was quick to give her a message.

You aren't alone.

Bluebird's melody hesitates a moment as the dancer circles her. The physical contact with the brightly colored beastfolk is strange enough, but the feeling that follows, a message that is as much emotions as words is especially startling.

But... there's no ill intent there. An offer of companionship, to stand by her side in the midst of all this. She can see how her steps match her melody, the same melody that weaves through the hearts of the people surrounding, and thinks that maybe this person is a little like her.

So she steels herself and continues her melody, louder and clearer this time.

And the dark before the dawn fades
As sun's light spreads across the land
But if shadows rise, flood forth like a tide
Stand tall, hearts and hopes aligned

She lets the melody fade as she finishes. Its followed by scattered applause and cheerful words, directed at both singer and dancer... and requests for more.

Bluebird turns to the girl. "...your dance was very good. I am glad my song could inspire you so." Her headwings flutter as she smiles. "My name is Bluebird. What is your name?"

Ruby continued to follow the song, with her dance steps clicking on the floor, with the rings helping to fill the melodic song with even more life. She remained mostly on the background, covering the silence at every breath the girl had to take. Ruby didn't care for the spotlight, after all it wasn't even her role there, just dancing along with it was a pleasure on its own.

As the song neared the end, Ruby once again approached the singing girl, throwing one last pos before the crowd erupted in cheers.

When the girl turned to Ruby, a smile retributed her's "Mine's Crimson Ruby." She said, offering a hand. "It is nice to meet you, especially someone who sings so wonderfully~" Ruby chirped, a bit envious about it. She knew how to sing, but not that well. The perks of dividing the attention between singing and dancing was that one of them wouldn't be as smooth as the other.

"I think the song would inspire anyone-" She said, casting a glance at the cheering crowd and swaying her tail. "Even them, hmm." Ruby looked at Bluebird again. "It seems like we complete each other well, so why not inspiring them more?" She suggested, taking one step back that connected in a swirl, ringing the bells again.

"It's good to meet you, Crimson Ruby." Bluebird smiles, but she seems to withdraw a bit at Ruby's compliment, wings folding tighter against her head. "It was just a little tune. I wouldn't call it 'wonderful' at all." She smiles, though it seems a little forced now. "But I thank you for the compliment."

She glances to the crowd. It's not like she's unused to having so many eyes on her, waiting for her to say something, but... she rather hoped to avoid it, here in this world. For a moment her mind circles, then she settles on a solution that breaks the loop.

"What if you take the lead this time? If you dance, then I can follow, and made a song to match your steps." Her smile is more sincere this time. "I am sure your art will be as inspiring to our audience as my own!"

There was a gentle tail sway and a curtsy when the pleasure of meeting was shown to be mutual. Her sharp gaze looked at the wings folding tighter, the smile feeling tight, interesting- She couldn't pinpoint if the girl was being shy or if she outright disliked it.

Ruby didn't put too much thought into it though, simply allowing her feet to be free again, with careful steps that were as harmonic as the music that the girl was singing before.

The ringing of the bells somewhat sounded as playful as her words.

"I'm usually not one to be in the spotlight, but if that's what it takes to hear your song again-" She takes a twirl, finishing it on the tip of her toes, using her leg and her tail as a way to balance. "Then it is show time~" Ruby winked, flexing her leg and suddenly jumping acrobatically, landing a bit more forward and shaking her waist, her legs, her whole body in a waving motion that was mesmerizing. The bells continued to ring, with the sound of her sword's sheath clanking rhythmically against them while her shoes clicked, clicked, clicked-

It was a dance that was music of its own to the surprise of the crowd that cheered with the acceptance of the duo to do one more performance.

It was her body being the instrument of her own dance, now it only needed a voice for it!

It takes a moment for Bluebird to get into the swing of the dance - it clearly doesn't seem to be something she's as familiar with. But it isn't long before she raises her voice, swaying herself as she warbles a wordless song that leaps and waves along with Ruby's motions.

There's a point where she even begins to do more than simply sing, though. She makes a motion with her hands, guided by the auto-system of the game, and her voice takes on a strangely echoing nature. The wind begins to blow around Ruby - gentle at first, but eventually it begins to shift. As she leaps it follows so she can leap a little higher. As she twirls it follows, and the sound of her ringing bells seems to carry further and louder. Not enough to throw her off, or to take command of her motions - just to enhance what she's already doing.

There's a murmer of surprise from the crowd as they retreat a little, giving Ruby more space to dance. Some of them seem to have forgotten that they were waiting to get into line, as what was originally a momentary distraction becomes the focus of everyone's attention...

Ruby joyfully continued with the dance after space was given to her, allowing the crowd to have more to cheer about.

She was more used to having other people along with her, being part of a collective dance rather than a solo one. Thankfully, it seemed that Bluebird started doing something similar- Not necessarily dance, but some sort of orchestrated movement with her hands. Her humming voice filled Ruby with more motivation, and her legs moved hastily to reflect it.

Her movements became fast enough to blur, with the wind erupting with energy that Ruby had never felt before.

She cast a glance behind her back, looking at Bluebird while she continued to dance, unceasing and relentless to show their art, but soon noticed that they should reach an end at some point.

Embracing the wind of her newfound music partner, Ruby pushed her limits and the limits of those that witnessed their performance, swiftly tracing the wind with her sharp steps, and eventually finishing it with a pose and one last abrupt ringing, that echoed along with the power of the birdkin.

And as Ruby strikes her final pose the wind swirls about her, sparkling with specks of Astramancy as it sweeps over the crowd along with Bluebird's last ringing note.

There's a moment of silence after the performance finishes and the sound of bells and song fades away. Bluebird pants quietly from the act of singing as long as she had and the effort of continuously weaving magic. She's exhausted, but the smile on her face is genuine as the crowd bursts into applause.

That was... fun. She's been in front of far larger crowds, received far louder accolades after a presentation, but this feels far more real than any reaction she's received before.

She steps forward next to Ruby, glances her way, and bows deeply to the crowd. "Thank you for your kind reception, everyone!" she calls in a clear and practiced tone. "We have no more for you, but we hope the memory of our performance will light your way as the stars do!"

The spell surrounding Ruby made her feel warm, and the burst from the crowd made her release a breath that she didn't even notice she was holding. It took a moment for Ruby to realize her lack of etiquette, taking Bluebird to step next to her and bow before she finally noticed she probably do the same.

Ruby used her tail to help her to balance while she gave a deep bow.

With her partner's words, the crowd cheered, though some felt a bit sad that it was the last performance. It felt nice in a way, reminding Ruby of her times at festivals and presentations in her home country.

"That was really good." Ruby chirped, turning to Bluebird with a swaying tail. The excitement got her voice louder, it was rare for her to suddenly get so cheerful with someone so quickly, but dance and music was really the quickest way to sparkle her heart.

"And that magic thing? I never thought about using other magics in a performance, that was a great idea!" Her tail wagged and her ears perked up.

Bluebird smiled back. She still felt a little embarrassed, but she can't deny the little flush of pride that has her rocking back and forth on her talons.

"Thank you! I have been practicing my magic a little - it seems important in this world, being able to do it easily." She flicks her wings, putting her arms around her back. "I haven't carried anyone other than myself with the wind before - I was a little worried you might have difficulty, so I made sure they were gentle winds."

She claps her hands together. "But perhaps next time, I will have the skill and courage to carry someone like you higher. I can only imagine how it would look, to dance in the air!"

Bluebird pauses suddenly. "...that is, if you ever wanted to do something like this again. I know this is a game where there is a lot of fighting, but that does not mean performers like us cannot do something a little lighter now and then, right?"

Ruby listened to Bluebird, impressed. The game had just come back and some had already had it practiced enough to do amazing things. "I felt it was pretty smooth, I almost could feel like flying!" She twirled again, letting the bells ring a little before she stopped, perking her ears up at the mention of carrying someone even higher, her eyes grew slightly wider.

"If you ever do, you need to call me." Ruby exclaimed happily, then pausing. She turned a bit mlre sheepish as the effect of music was fading, and she was realizing that she has been... kinda pushy. It was almost like she wasn't usually shy.

"Yeah this game has a lot of fighting." Ruby agreed. It was one of the parts she most liked. "But... I'd love to dane with you again. This game is more than just hitting things with a stick." She said with a faint smile, then closing and opening her hand.

"Want to... be friends?" It was a weird question, but she didn't know how else to ask to add her to the contacts.

Bluebird blinked as the question caught her off guard.

She'd never been asked that question before. Not even in that Before, when it was just her and the others in the compound. It was... a strangely sobering realization.

"O-oh... yes, of course!" She smiled, wings fluttering. "I would love to be friends!" For a moment that was all she said... and then she remembered that here in this game, being 'friends' was as much a logical reality as it was an emotional connection. "Oh, right! Let me see..."

She made the motion to open the palm menu a few times before it worked. "This would be... ah, contacts, like an email contact, right?" She tapped it, squinted, then tapped a button for voice input.

"Crimson Ruby!" she declared clearly, then tapped another button. Moments later, in Ruby's vision-

Notice

Bluebird has sent you a friend request!

"There. Did that work correctly?" she asked, tilting her head to peer past the UI. "I have not done this in game before..."

Ruby's cheeks grew rosy at the cheerful acceptance to the idea, and her tail swayed sheepish, but joyful. "I think so-" She said, waiting for it until her name was suddenly exclaimed.

Her ears perked up and she blinked surprised, only to once again be tackled by a big notice.

Pursing her lips, her hand rose for a moment and with a gesture-

Notice

Friendship Request Accepted

"It worked." Ruby said, with a smile that was impossible to take away from her lips. "We are friends now!" She announced, with her tail waving cheerfully.

Honestly, she has never done it either until Alpha sent her a request.

With a warm smile, Ruby's eyes lowered to spot the many coins they have received, on what seemed to be an improvised spot for it. Who had set it up was a mystery to her, but now that the money was there...

"Hey-" She crouched next to it, peeking at Bluebird. "Why don't we eat something to celebrate?" There wasn't much to celebrate for, but also why not?

Bluebird looked down at the little pile of gold with wonder. Getting money after a presentation wasn't strange to her, and this was probably far less than what she'd been paid before. But more than anything else, she felt like she had truly earned this money along with Ruby.

"Eat?" She tilted her head, looking confused. You couldn't eat in a virtual world, at least not normally. It was all screens and sensors, after all. Then again, Terrasphere was very much not a normal virtual world, not if her experiences up to now had taught her everything.

"That sounds nice, Ruby. I never thought I would have the chance to eat things in a virtual world until now." She looked down the street. The town of Honeyhome, small but bustling in a way that a city never could. A place that reminded her of a place long since lost. "Do you think they serve strange things, like monster meat? I can only imagine what sort of fantastical things they might have here!"

Bluebird smiled. If these were the sort of things Terrasphere had to offer her, then receiving that message was probably the best thing to have happened to her in years.

Bluebird's surprise and words made it clear that she was brand new to the game, something that made Ruby a bit more comfortable.

"That tasteless food you start with is just belly-filling, the food that is actually cooked? It is as good as you would expect." Ruby rose her arms excitedly now that Bluebird had accepted the idea of going to have a nice meal together. They could even talk and know more about each other, and see what they could do in future, for future performances and maybe even-- Adventuring?! She didn't seem very fond of it, but as an Explorer, Ruby knew plenty of fancy peaceful places.

"I've had some Salamander tongue before, and it was pretty funny tasting. Spicy even." Ruby said, happy for the new friend she had just made. Even if the other wouldn't really consider her one, she didn't mind, in that world, they are friends bonded by music.

@Bluebird End!
